I've had this place so many times, I've lost count. I always get the Pork Belly bowl, and it's almost always perfect, but a couple times, including today's order, have been a miss. First off, the rice...the BASE of this Asian dish, should never ever be long grain rice, but it was. The rice was flaky and did NOT pair well with the rest of the ingredients. In Asian dishes, rice needs to be medium (or even short) grain, so the rice sticks together, and you can pick up an entire "clump" of rice easily with chopsticks. Don't know if this was a permanent change, or if someone just got the wrong rice, but it really changed the dish, and not in a good way. Secondly, instead of a lightly fried egg that was still slightly runny, it was hard. Like, cooked all the way through hard. And I know it wasn't due to residual heat from the other ingredients, because it was very rubbery, the way overcooked eggs can get. I do hope this was just a one-time thing, and these are not permanent recipe updates, so I will give it another try and decide from there if I will continue to be a customer. read more

I used to come here a lot when I was still in school. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. Rather small inside so I would take it and go. The food was rather good and filling. There are some authentic Asian flavors but I would say this is Asian-American fusion. read more

It's okay. The problem is the quality of the chicken, or lack thereof. For $16+, the quality just isn't there. There is the occasional way too chewy or stringy piece. Compare it to, say, El Pollo Loco, which is nothing special at all quality-wise but nonetheless has way better quality control on their chicken than this place does. I've been coming here since they first opened, but I gotta say the quality has dropped a bit. This place used to be amazing. Now it's just merely okay. Let me start by saying this is one my favorite genres of food, so I was definitely extra critical with my rating here but 3 is the best I would give it because it's not "bad." Pros: - Simple menu - reasonable price - Bibimbap and other bowls are very average (both a pro and con) - Environment is chill & clean - Side sauces are great - Staff is really friendly Cons: - Bibimbap and other bowls are very average lol - Sides are pretty ehh (fried chicken was not good in my opinion. Flavor was funky, and texture wasn't my ideal for Korean Fried Chicken) - None of the food stands out and it doesn't "feel" worth the price for the flavor you're getting, but portion is fine. Overall, I still choose to come here because it's really the only option of bulgogi rice or Bibimbap bowls near here, otherwise, I'd typically choose elsewhere if you aren't limited to location/distance. read more

I love Flying Rice Asian Kitchen to get my quick fix of delicious vegetarian bibimbap! My review is based off this one dish only, as I have never ordered anything else here, but if you can make a veggie bibimbap delicious and not make me miss meat, then I think this deserves full recognition. The tofu is nice and crisp (something I recognize a lot of places don't seem to achieve), which I appreciate. Of course, seeing what friends and family order, the meat options do look delicious, too. One day I'll steal a bite, and update this portion of the review, haha. The restaurant is small and quiet. The service is good. I usually order ahead of time and just grab my food as takeout. It's been over one year since my last review. Thought I do an update and post some new pictures. Food is still as amazing and delicious as my 1st visit. My go-to is the KFC over rice bowl and Kimchi Gogi fries with chicken. Staff is different now, but still offers the same friendly and great customer service. Funny, every time I am here, no one is eating inside. I do see the table outside being occupied. Maybe it's too dim inside and people can't see what they are eating. Don't know. It's cute and comfy inside though. It's kind of romantic IMHO. I wouldn't mind my date taking me here LOL. I'll hint to him when that time comes LOL. My daughters favorites are the KFC over rice and Bulgogi over rice. We've tried the Pork Belly over rice and the pork has an acquired taste for some reason per my daughters. I've recently ordered the Pan Fried Ramen noodles with chicken... it's okay... I was hoping the ramen noodles to be more flavorful. Chicken was fantastic though. I will continue to be supportive to Flying Rice Asian Kitchen. Still waiting for them to open on the weekends. If they don't ever, it's okay. Flying Rice is serving up a really great, clean, and yummy bowl for a pretty reasonable price compared to a lot of places in this area. I tried their KFC Bowl and it was really good. The employee at the register was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed! There is not a lot of space to sit inside the restaurant but there are some seats outdoor too. I highly recommend this place especially if you are looking for a quick lunch or dinner that is still good and wholesome! read more

This place reminds me of my hometown in San Dimas, you have all these stores and restaurants, and you may not know a great place like this exists! We just finished a check up for my kid in the area and wanted to try something new. After reading multiple yelp comments we decided to give this place a try togo. The lady that took my order on the phone was nice and made sure my questions were answered. Food So the food here reminds me of some other fusion places, but they make it quite tasty. We tried the bimbimbop and pork belly bowl and the Gogi Fries. The fries were ok, but I particularly liked both of the bowls. You get to choose brown or white rice and they both come with a good amount of Vegatables inside from bak choi to kale, while having very flavorful protein. The place was nice and clean, but isn't that big so I wouldn't recommend big parties to come in to eat. If I am in the area I would definitely stop by again! Until next time ! read more

I came to pick up to-go, and counted 6 small tables that can seat 2-3 people each. I ordered in store, and they told me the wait was 10-15 minutes, but i ended up waiting over 30minutes. They kept messing up my order. They came out twice with an order for me, but it was wrong both times, even though they kept asking me what I ordered each time. Then another group of gentlemen came to order and left before me with their order. The rice bowls were $13 each, but there was a decent amount of rice and meat in both. Bulgogi rice bowl: The bulgogi was way too peppery and very dry. The rice was hard and dry too. The dish came with a tiny amount of kimchi, kale, and an egg too, 1/5. Pork Belly rice bowl: The pork belly was soft and flavorful. I liked that this dish came with the yellow radish, along with the kale, small amount of kimchi, and an egg. The rice for this dish was normal and not hard like the bulgogi rice bowl, 4.5/5. My two orders were very inconsistent for the rice. Started to explore the area since I work nearby and wanted to try something besides the local franchise-type restaurants in the area and saw this place and all the reviews. Decided to give it a go. It's a nice little shop located in a shopping plaza filled with lots of different types of restaurants and shops. Decided to try the Pork Belly rice bowl, but was served the bulgogi rice bowl instead. Not sure what happened, but was still down to try it. Definitely filling. The bulgogi was a bit overseasoned but wasn't too bad asides from that. The bowl was a lot of rice, with a decent portion of kale, kimchi, and one egg. I found this place through a Yelp review. It's next door to my favorite boba shop called Tea Love in La Verne. They only open Monday through Friday and closed Saturday after the pandemic. I ordered a pork belly bowl on my first visit and a beef bimbibap on my second visit. This restaurant is so delicious and the food is consistently tasty and worth the visit. I'm so impressed. They serve noodles and ramen, but for dine in option only. I can't wait to try those. They also have children's meals too and French fries. Parking is abundant in an open lot and price point is worth it for the value you are getting. Please open weekends so I can come more often. Decided to check this place out since we were hanging out at my cousin's house and it was down the street. Since we ordered our food to go, I can't really say anything about the dine-in experience. However, the food was tasty enough to pique my interest, and potentially warrant another visit. I ordered the Pork Belly Rice bowl, which came out looking far prettier than I had imagined in my head. There was something sort of appealing to the eye in the array of colors -- black and white sesame seeds, purple-tinged radishes, various hues of green, almost fluorescent-yellow pickled radish, and the caramelly brown of the pork belly -- that made me stop to appreciate how beautiful everything looked arranged together. It tasted just as nicely as it looked. Both the flavors and the textures of the entire dish were perfect. The only thing I would change for a future visit would be to ask for gochujang and kimchi. And probably to try and finish the whole thing in one sitting, or to split it with another person (it does not microwave well, unfortunately). read more

It should suffice to simply see how many times I check in here and so much so that John, they're amazingly kind and friendly team member, knows my order already. I'm lucky to have a loyal Flying Rice co-pilot and we religiously eat here weekly. Our go-to is to split an order of the pan-fried noodles and a Pork Belly Bowl well done. The portion and flavors are absolutely unbeatable. The food is made fresh to order and can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on how busy they are so I recommend ordering ahead for carry out. The restaurant is very casual with a few small tables inside and a couple outside. Parking is always easy and service is friendly and fast.
