Such a wonderful restaurant. The Food is amazing. The serving. Are more than adequate. All the serving can feed three or more people. The taste of the good and warm. The avocado salad is so delicious. The lettuce is crisp and so cold and the avocados or plentiful on every serving. Everything you order is so delicious. I've been supporting Akai Teriyaki for a couple weeks now and it really is a welcome addition to the Pomona area. It has since been my go-to lunch spot during my work days. They are quick in placing orders and the food is great! Located in a very unassuming plaza, Akai Teriyaki offers affordable large portion bento meals and sushi. I've tried their rolls, teriyaki, and fried noodle dishes and everything has been delicious! They have daily specials and they definitely don't skimp on the portions. My wife and I are big fans of teriyaki and love exploring different teriyaki restaurants whenever we can. That's why we were excited to try Akai Teriyaki, a newly opened spot in town. The customer service was decent--nothing over the top, but the staff was friendly enough to make the experience pleasant. When it came to the food, however, it didn't quite meet our expectations. The teriyaki lacked the bold, flavorful punch we've experienced at other local Japanese and teriyaki restaurants. The portion size was fair, and the price point was reasonable, but the taste just wasn't memorable enough for us. Since we've tried other places that offer much better quality and flavor, this one didn't stand out as a spot we'd return to. I think Akai Teriyaki has potential as they're still new, and perhaps the menu will improve over time. But as of now, it's not somewhere I'd consider one of the best teriyaki spots near me. I have been waiting for this place to open. Tried the chicken and beef plate with noodles. A side of the chicken dumplings. I liked this place and will be back when I get a teriyaki raving. The chicken and beef were both good. Meat was tender, didn't not get any fatty or tough pieces. Overall really enjoyed the meal. They only gave me a spork, which is hard with a noodle plate, I would rather have a regular fork even with the rice or fried rice option. The teriyaki sauce was fine, a little on the watery side, pretty good flavor. The reason I'm rating 3 stars is because I ordered the bento box and when I walked in to pick up my food the salad was missing. I asked where was the salad and they told me it's not included with the bento box. I pointed out on the printed menu as well as the menu posted in the restaurant that it does include a salad. We argued back and forth and they finally gave me the unimpressive salad. If you don't want to include the salad when all your literate states it's included please update your menu in the restaurant and online. We were hungry after walking around the Pomona Swap meet and found this restaurant while looking up restaurants. I ordered the beef teriyaki with steamed rice and my bf got the chicken & beef with noodles. Our food was made to order which we really loved! The food is pipping hot but I couldn't resist digging in. The veggies were perfectly steamed so they still held their crunch. The meats were cooked well, tender, and flavorful. This new teriyaki place has potential but it's off to a rough start. The basic teriyaki chicken plate is good on portion size and is freshly cooked. The meat was solid and empty of gristle. However, the sauce was practically non-existent. There was so little Teri on my chicken plate that it was dry and bland. Without a bit of salt and sweetness, is it even teriyaki? Despite providing a lot of meat and a solid serving of rice, it was all delivered with virtually no sauce. Vegetables were fresh, too, but when you fail on the sauce, it's hard to enjoy the meal. Their California rolls were okay. They were a small step up for sushi bars at the nicer grocery stores, but a step down from your favorite sit down Japanese restaurant. Prices are a bit high and better bowls for less are available nearby. Service was okay but demanding a $.50 charge for using a credit card is anti-customer. That's for your business expenses, not mine. That was the difference between 3 and 2 stars for me. Hopefully they will get things right over time because right now, I don't see returning. There are too many better options nearby. read more

We've been looking for a good teriyaki place. So far, we haven't found anything as good as the old Hamburger House that was located in the shopping center at Grove and Garey. It's been gone for many years so it's been a while since we had good teriyaki. This place was really good. I had to chicken and beef teriyaki bento box. It was a lot of food and everting was fresh and good. I liked that they didn't drown the meat in teriyaki sauce. It was light and the meat was tender and juicy. I have been going here since they opened and love it! First of all they have daily specials which are very reasonably priced. Their servings are very generous. My favorite is the Shrimp Fried Rice (see photo). It is delicious and generous with the shrimp! I eat this as a meal. Yum. They also have sushi which is as good as you can get. My family likes the noodle dishes. The facility is very clean and has inside seating. The staff is very friendly. I've been here back to back days ! Everything I've tried so far has been 10/10 ! Besides the edamame I feel like it lacks it a bit of flavor nothing some salt and pepper can't fix !
