Let me preface this to say I'm a sushi snob. I was not impressed - I got the lunch Nigiri platter which looked very appetizing in the menu photo. First, the miso soup. Instant miso soup is better than what they served. No wakame. No green onion. The tofu was dense and rubbery. Then came the platter. Immediately it was obviously a hack job. The slices of fish and the amount of rice was inconsistent. There were even a couple of nigiri where they took two slices of thin, leftover ends to make one nigiri. The rice had little to no seasoning, there should be some vinegar, sugar and salt to season the rice. Albacore usually is seasoned with ponzu, it was if they used ponzu that was watered down. The salmon nigiri was the worst. It smelled fishy. I left the salmon pieces on the plate. Very disappointed. read more

Stopped by for a Thursday night dinner. When we arrived the place was empty but got busy as we got through our meal. When ordering I noticed some items were not listed on the menu so make sure to ask the server if there is something you don't see & would like. The green tea was served in a large mug & had the tea bag. If you're looking for traditional tea this isn't the place for that.. My meal was good, I got the spicy tuna hand roll and the spicy tuna crunch roll. The crunch roll was really saucy so if you don't like sauce ask for it to be light. The hand roll was what I expected. The wasabi wasn't as kickin as I'd hoped for, also it was not the natural color green so I assumed its a paste with dye. The miso soup only had tofu, no seaweed but still good. This isn't my first time coming here and won't be the last. When in area and in the mood for some pretty good sushi at a good price I think of this restaurant. The crowd favorites are the usual for me too. Baked mussels, spicy tuna rolls and the fukuya roll are worth trying. Come here to watch the game it just hang out with the sushi chef. We have been ordering delivery from fukuya sushi in La Verne for some time now. We ordered again tonight and once again it was very very good. There are so many great things about this restaurant, the prices which are reasonable. The dishes which are very well done, and the speed of delivery. The taste of the sushi is just very very good. We are never disappointed with our order and this is become our go-to place for sushi. I am disabled so we do not go out to eat a lot and depend on delivery. Even though we only live about a half a mile from fukuya, the delivery is still reasonably quick and efficient. All of these rules are great quality, and the negri sushi is so well done with large pieces of fish on the rice. Love this place and you will not be disappointed if you give it a try. read more

We bought take out from this restaurant on Sunday June 30, 2024. The cashier was ok. I should have known to turn around and walk out the door because the only people in there were the workers. We ordered three rolls. Each looked different on the photo than what we received... I mean, really different. It looked as if the fish was a week old, and it had absolutely no taste. I wish I would have taken it back, but we ate it anyway and we're sick because of it. I don't recommend this place because the food is not even partially fresh. The baked green mussels were kinda flavorless, but fresh and I appreciate that. Loraine gave great service, fast and friendly. If your looking for even decent sushi I'm sorry but you will not find it here. I ordered the dynamite roll and it was overloaded with mayo and scallops but not in a good way. I literally had to take it all off the top because it was just overpowering and I wouldn't have tasted any of the actual sushi. It was very oily for some reason and overall bland. Compared to all the other sushi places I have been to, this probably the smallest and quietest little spot I have gone to. It has very local feeling to it. Service was very nice and personal. I tried the sashimi platter and I enjoyed it. Albacore was perfect. I usually never order albacore but I enjoyed the albacore more than my personal favorite which is yellow tail. Wow what an amazing place to go eat with our family. My daughter turned 11 and asked to go out to eat sushi for her birthday so I looked on Yelp and found this amazing place. They went above and beyond and brought my daughter a dessert and sang happy birthday to her... We were not expecting that at all and it was a great surprise.
