We visited this restaurant yesterday to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. While we were dining, one of the servers who was cutting meat right next to our table dropped his knife on the floor. He immediately picked it up and continued cutting and serving meat with the same knife without properly cleaning or replacing it. This was extremely concerning and unhygienic. This was not what I expected for a special birthday celebration. It's definitely a birthday my daughter will remember -- but for the wrong reasons. The staff did great taking care of us most of the time. My son gave me a $200 gift card and had a lot of great things to say about this place. My son did not visit the salad bar. He just got the upgraded package and ate only the meat and lobster. So my husband and I got the most expensive package, (bcz it's what my son recommended for the full experience) which was about $89 deal with that we all you can eat meats we added the lobster and lava cake. I waited for over an hour and got zero ribeye and zero filet mignon. There was a lot of sirloin being brought out and lamb and chicken, but ribeye came out once in an hour and a half and filet mignon as well . I had to ask the servers over and over. The biggest disappointment was the salad bar. How do you charge an $89 plate and have a salad bar F- Salad bar! It was empty more than half the time we were there. I got up several times I could not get a decent salad because there was not enough lettuce being put out the little that was put out the Romain chunks were so huge that i couldn't fit it in my mouth. And the rice was dried and crunchy. They rice had been sitting in crock pots for so long that it was hard and crunchy. I'm just really sorry I would love to do a second review and change it if and when I visit Fogo a second time they literally have to reprogram. Whoever is in charge of their salad bar to do a better job. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, but the hostess could benefit from additional training and improved customer service skills. Our waitress was attentive and professional; however, the food experience was disappointing. It took over an hour and 20 minutes for a tomahawk steak to arrive, and it was cooked incorrectly. After sending it back, we waited another 20 minutes and were served a ribeye instead, which was also cooked incorrectly. First of all, this is just my opinion on this day. You walk in the door and it's very impressive. A great place for a special event birthday wedding celebrations graduation dinner. I was warmly greeted by the maître D and taken to a perfect table right near the buffet of salads and other Brazilian dishes. Note that the buffet is extra except if you order like I did. "A taste of Brazil". Special up until the end of June $49 including all you care to eat beef on skewers. I was there for the beef and that's where I was let down I had heard amazing things about this place and I was hoping they were all true not just because I wanted good food, but because I love to see people succeeded things when they work so hard After taking my seat, I was greeted by two wonderful waitresses who couldn't have done enough during the meal. One was training the other, and they were both incredibly engaging. The Brazilian buffet had a lot of things on it that I just don't like because I'm a pretty fussy eater, but it has some wonderful Caesar salad, caramelized, bacon, wonderful blue cheese. I went ahead and put a bit on my plate, not wanting to overdo it. Again, I was there for the beef! You were given a plastic Disc one side green one side red. If you flip it over to the red side, it means you wanna take a break for a bit from the meet. The green size means load me up. I don't remember what the first skewer was but I do remember it was impossible for me to cut into it so I pushed it on the side of the plate and turn my color green. Came again with several things which I tried, but was less impressed with because they were tough to cut and chewy. A couple of steak derivatives, and the other with Chicken, which is probably pretty good, but I didn't try it. Lacking the whole time what the stake was that wonderful charred, black color that gives it such a distinctive bite comparing it to fish or chicken. I told my Gaúcho I was really into the lamb, lamb chops, top sirloin ,bottom sirloin, and ribeye. And filet mignon. The service was wonderful. He came right away with some very good looking sirloin. He sliced it thin, and I took it with my thongs put it on my plate cut into it and found out. It was somewhat tough. But cooked the way I like it, medium rare. Next came my old staple. Ribeye grain fed or at least grain finished. He sliced the perfect spot on the ribeye just above the spinosus muscle that tender chunk of beef on the top of the ribeye is always very small, but so delicious. But it wasn't. It lack that wonderful taste and somewhat pleasant resistance to chewing that a ribeye can give off. That was the biggest disappointment. He then came with some lamb, which I thought was quite good and a couple of really tiny baby lamb chops of what he only gave me one ? Hmmm And finally came to filet mignon. He carved me two generous portions, and I could see that they were very rare. They were very tender because they were falling apart, but when it fell apart of my mouth it was tasteless. THE MASHED POTATO WARS I don't know about you, but mashed potatoes are supposed to be served really hot even smoking. It gives the best taste of a spud at that temperature. My first mashed potato dish was beautifully presented, with lots of butter and scallions, but cool. I asked her for a replacement. And it was brought quickly still not hot,..... finally on my third attempt I got something resembling medium heat. Now here's the thing: Most of the other stuff, the carving stuff hit a cold plate so it's cool, whenyou eat it . Not ideal for me maybe if I was out in an igloo mountain climbing it would be acceptable but I wasn't. I was gonna dish out half a 100 for this. If the mashed potatoes were good and hot, I could've warmed the meat up with that and it would've been delicious. Except that there was no charred taste. A cold plate with cold meat and luke warm potatoes is not my idea of dining. What's the solution? Serve warmer plates that could be a start. They do offer to change your plate very often while you're eating so the residual taste. Don't stay on the plate. Like I said earlier the service is incredible. The place is beautiful. A lot of work and energy went into this and I hate to see it and not live up to the lofty expectations I had. Will I go back? Hmmm? Yes, but I will not be the first person in the door. But do it in the early evening or late afternoon. If you want to impress someone with an incredible decor and a wonderful weight staff well trained. This is the place to take them. Maybe next time I'll bring my own hot plate. My check came to $53 which is the $49 special plus tax. I left a $12 tip because I am a former service person and I know how hard they were working to make me happy. So hats off to the staff at Fogo de Chao! Classy segment first class. Reservation mix-up, salad bar picked over and pitiful, no refills on bread, had to ask multiple times for water/drink refills, meat frequency was inadequate (for what you pay for) and meat options were flavorless and chewy. I've been to Fogo de Chao several times in the D.C. area and it's always excellent. I was excited when I found out that a location was going to be opening so close to my house! The Murray location did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, the "experience" begins and the service is exceptional. We arrived a few minutes before our 6:15 PM reservation. Apologies (literally) were given for our "wait" when we were seated at 6:18 PM. Our server Grant was at our table in less than a minute, explained the menu, and took our drink order. The food is amazing. I highly recommend (in addition to the fantastic meats being served), the crab cake and the lobster mac and cheese. They were both so good!! Grant was fantastic. I went there for lunch service, they've been open for about 2 months now. We ordered off the bar menu and did not do the churrasco. The food was great, we ordered nearly everything off the bar menu. The only thing I would not order again is the tacos, maybe that's my fault for reading the description but it's served on a Napa cabbage leaf as the vessel. Don't be cute, just serve it on a tortilla or taco shell. The filet board was good but they didn't slice it all the way through which made it a little inconvenient and some of the pieces were well done. The wait staff kept my glass filled with water but half the time they filled it with hot water. You can tell they're still getting things right for a new restaurant, but considering this isn't the first location and it's been two months you'd think they'd have all the kinks worked out by now. It's beautifully designed and I'd go back to give them a shot with the full experience of the churrasco. But for now they get 3 starts until the service and food matches the prices read more

I really wanted to love this place. I gave it about three chances, but I am honestly disappointed. My last visit was unfortunately the worst of all three. If you have ever been to a Rodizio style restaurant like this in Brazil, you would also be really disappointed. To start, Fogo de Chão is known for having a small buffet, which in general is usually fine because they come around with really good meat options. However, if you are doing a small buffet, the least you expect is that you are doing an excellent job with the few options you have. Unfortunately that is not true. I've checked a few times and it took them a really long time to replace a few items, including sliced cheese, prosciutto, and even their feijoada. That is not a great experience, especially for the price they charge. Another problem is that Service is so slow that it took at least 10 minutes to get my cup filled with water after we were seated. Now let's talk about their meat service. I would choose to go to Fogo de chão for its additional variety of cuts, compared to Braza or Rodizio Grill, but it would be awesome if we could actually get those extra cuts--for example, lamb chops or beef ribs among others. Those I have not even seen. When I asked my server, he said those were not even being made at the moment, which is a shame. But even worse, there were huge gaps of no meat coming to our table, which is a bad experience, especially at the start of service. In a true Brazilian steak house you know that sometimes you barely have time to breathe in between meat cuts being offered to you. That was not the case. We had to complain to our server that we were not being properly served, and then, thankfully, things improved. But honestly, you shouldn't have to ask, and to make things even worse, my wife only eats well‑done, and for at least the first 30‑40 minutes she didn't eat any meat. As I said, I really wanted to love this place, but you are better off going to Rodizio or Braza Grill, as at the end you are paying much less for the same meat cuts. read more

I finally tried the Fogo in Murray during the holiday craziness, and it was kind of a mixed bag. Getting in was weird. I called earlier and was told if we showed up around 8-ish we'd probably wait 20-30 minutes. We got there around 7:45 and got hit with the "no reservation, no chance" vibe... then told to come back later... then another host said the same thing... and then the original hostess recognized us and got us in. We ended up seated around 9, and she was honestly awesome. After that, the night was a mixed bag of good and disappointing." Our server kept drinks coming and checked on us, which was great. But the table next to us stayed dirty for like half our meal, which highly unlikely of the restaurant. And the biggest bummer: a bunch of meats we were waiting for either never came around, or we were basically told it was late and they weren't bringing out certain cuts anymore. Felt like everyone was in "let's wrap it up" mode. We still had a good time, but for about $186 (no alcohol) it didn't feel like we got the full experience. One of their waiters must think I'm an idiot who didn't read the menu as when I asked about the lamb chops he stated that we only got the Full Churrasco and he'd be happy to upgrade us to the Indulgent Churrasco if we wanted that. By then I was annoyed and didn't bother referring him to the menu. This same waiter offered to get us the dessert menu that we'd asked for but ended up disappearing to hang out by the bar for the rest of our evening. I had went with my wife's family to celebrate her fathers birthday. Had to say this experience and the food was dissatisfying. We had booked a reservation for 5, and it took 40 minutes for us to be seated. There were bigger parties that hadn't reserved yet they were seated first way before us. Once we got seated the server was great. Yet I had noticed our water was not filled within 10 minutes. Now let's talk about the salad bar. The bar was almost empty, nothing in the salad bar was fresh. I had many Brazilian food before and that was the worst I've had in almost long while. With my experience with the cultured food, since the salad bar was cold I had expected the meat to be warm. It was not. It took forever for us to get the full meat course. We even had to ask if we could get the other meats we had not gotten within an hour in. They never brought the other assorted meat. Now let's talk about the Crab Cake and the Lobster. I've had Lobster and Crab Cake from the west coast fresh many times. The Lobster my wife and her sister had was bland. My Crab Cake was awful. The seasoning was way too much, and keep in mind I let the whole table try it. The seasoning was so bad I went to the bathroom 3 times, worst part is that the bathrooms always had a line. So I had to ask them if it was the crab cake, they all said it was. So we decided to talk to the host about the crab cake. The host was trying to have me think I had an allergy to Crab, shell and the oil in it. I do not, I've had many crab cake before and our server even hyped it up. Then we had learned many people were sending it back today. Yet he was still persistent on me being allergic. The market table and feijoada selection were very limited--only a few salads, some fruit, a few cold items, and basic rice and beans, with little else available. Lastly, we ordered the indulgence option but never received the enhancement or dessert, though we were still charged for it. The service was amazing , we met Gabriel, one of the managers, and Alexandre, one of the servers. They both did an excellent job, and we left very satisfied. However, I did order a passion fruit virgin mojito, and the bartender added coloring to the drink, which ended up staining my teeth. It also didn't have any passion fruit flavor. We had seen online that reservations were not required, so we showed up without one, expecting a short wait. Instead, we were surprised when the hostess, Taylor, rather rudely told us to come back another time. In hindsight, we probably should have taken that as our cue to leave, but we had a gift card to use. We checked online and were able to make a reservation for a table just 10 minutes later. When we returned and let her know we had a reservation, she scoffed, rolled her eyes, and complained that they didn't have any two-person tables available, then told us to wait anyway. Once we were finally seated, our server introduced himself and took our drink order, but we never saw him again. Our drinks were eventually brought out by someone else. The meat itself was good, but the selection was very limited. The side offerings were also underwhelming. For a restaurant that positions itself as more upscale, I expected a selection comparable to--or better than--places like Rodizio or Braza. The cheese bread was the standout item, but since it isn't self-serve and the servers were not very attentive, it was difficult to get more. We came here for Christmas dinner with our large family of 16. The space was tight but we made do. Pricing is pretty comparable to other Brazilian steakhouses. My SIL appreciated that her three small kids ate free. Overall the food was pretty good. The meat skewers came fast and furious which was a bit overwhelming and a lot of the meat was cooked a bit rare which is not everyone's cup of tea. The salad bar options felt lacking with not much topping variety. The real star though, was our waiter, Jordan. He was incredible! Friendly, fun, attentive, just really top notch. We were there from 5 o'clock till almost 7 o'clock and only got the meat four or five times. All the food they had out to grab was subpar you pay triple the price going to Tucanos but it's three times as bad here. Not to mention the meat didn't taste good just salted. We would ask them for food and then 15 minutes later they would come back and ask how the food was and we hadn't gotten it yet. I'm leaving a five star review because as a chef and restaurant operator I know how hard it is to come back from negative reviews. And also because I appreciate that we went on Christmas Day and I'm thankful that you were open and fed us. Having said that it was one of the single most negative dining experiences I have ever had. They were doing reservations only and so we were maneuvered to the only time that would make sense on the phone to make a reservation (not great) (if you can't accommodate parties don't take the reservation). When we got there we checked in and were not sat for 30 mins. Reservations by nature secure a spot for you to show up at a certain time and they supposedly would have something ready for you (it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the rental car). There was almost zero communication from the hostess of why it was taking so long, the only communication was that "your table is ready but we are understaffed and non of the servers want to take your table" what!? Don't ever say something like that!! Made us feel unwelcome the whole meal and you could tell the server had no interest in assisting us! We were a party of 5, not bad, left 21% tip on over priced food (out of principle and because it was Christmas). All the other parties were closer to 10 though. I even said to the host.... The server doesn't matter at this concept, we can get the salad bar ourselves and start waiting for meat!! Meat took too long and the sausage guy never came back! We had to ask for Chimichurri and sauces 5 different times, waters were never filled (we had to ration and share). Needless to say we will never be going back, corporate restaurants are supposed to have some sense of locked in service and consistency. If you don't have the staff don't take the reservation or don't open!! I don't blame the server nor the host they need to be better trained and guided by the management.
