I've been a fan of the Brazilian churrascarian steakhouse experience for years now. In fact, almost 14 years ago I reviewed Fogo de Ciao in Naptown, Indiana and had nothing but good things to say. Yesterday, I went to the new Fogo here in Oakbrook Terrace. The building is a beautiful one that was very bright and open with the usual upscale decor and flourishes. But this is Fogo, which means the walls could be bare, I don't care - I'm here for the meat and the wonderfully cosseting table service. This, unfortunately, is where my experience was a letdown. As stated above, I am a regular at Fogo though I hadn't been since before the pandemic. So I was really waiting on my hands down favorite, their dry-rubbed, fire-roasted baby back ribs. Which the waiter promptly told me had been cancelled. "I'm sorry, what did you just say!?!?!?" This is the trauma my brain felt. Then she said they were experimenting with new types of pork and she would bring me out their new pork belly. Now, I am a fan of pork belly but..... This was NOT a sufficient replacement for my ribs. So I was very disappointed. The rest of the food was about as I remembered. The picanha was fine, the lamb was tender and flavorful, the ribeye was juicy, all in all the rest was cool. Then came time for dessert. Since it was my birthday,(I'm on their email list) I was told I could have whatever dessert I wanted. That's easy, I asked for their deliciously decadent chocolate mousse cake, which is a moist chocolate cake that featured white and dark chocolate mousse throughout. Which the waiter again promptly told me was cancelled. "This is just it", I said to myself as we asked for the check. I'm sorry but I was just let down. The service was ok, the food was decent but it was not what I was expecting after being a patron for over 10 years. They got rid of my favorite items so now it's time to move on. And it might be easy to say, it's a steakhouse, so why worry with the ribs or cake? Thing is, for me at least, many of the good Brazilian steakhouses serve the same or similar cuts of great meat. So for me it's the things that one serves that another does not which sets them apart. In this case, the dry-rubbed pork ribs were what set Fogo apart from others like Texas de Brazil(which is still a good chain). I am told that Chama Gaucha up the road in Downers Grove has good dry-rubbed pork ribs. I believe we are heading there to try them out the next time I get a hankering for this dining experience. read more

A couple of things about this location. 1. Parking is super tight on Saturdays. We drove around for 10 minutes until we found someone leaving and could take their spot. Kindness counts people. Use your turn signal to let others know you are waiting. 2. We arrived right on time for our reservation. The hallway was packed. We were told to grab a seat at the bar or wait in the hallway. We opted for a seat at the bar and grabbed some cocktails. Service was friendly. Hostess then came over to us and let us know table was ready. 3. We were sat at a table in the bar area. It seemed very cramped. In order to get to salad bar we had to walk-through the line of people still waiting for tables. 4. Food was delicious. However I felt that the servers also struggled to get through the crowd of people. If I return to this location in the future I would likely avoid going on the weekend. Super crowded and some of the customers were rude. read more

Great place for literally all you can eat meats. We typically bring the family here for few special occasions though out the year and everyone leaves fully stuffed and happy. We also will drop in for lunch especially when we crave top notch salad bar. The dinning room offers very comfortable seating. Staff is always very friendly but don't expect a long conversation with the guys walking around with skewers. These guys are on the mission to bring more meat to your table, leave them alone and let them do their job. The selection of meats is great and the charcoal pit makes the meat taste so much better than other churrascaria. The salad bar is always well prepared with large selection of salad dishes, cheeses, cold cuts, veggies and fruit. Wine selection is decent and they often will offer half price bottles. This location has a full liquor bar and will make great drinks. I would recommend you show up super hungry cause once the meat coaster turn green the meat will keep showing up ;) read more

I had a great time at Fogo de Chao with my partner for our anniversary. The meat was delicious and I never had to wait or call anyone over when I wanted food--I could just flip my coaster over. The salad buffet is great but I didn't waste any time there when I could get the carved meats! Even if you don't like one of the meat selections, you're guaranteed to like another one. I recommend you ask for a small piece of each meat and find out which ones you like so you can ask for more of those. I surprised myself and my partner by eating 8 of the Brazilian cheese bread--they are my favorite and would highly recommend them. The staff is very nice and attentive and they gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. I was full by the end of the meal but it didn't feel heavy or greasy. read more

I was here for an engagement party Thursday. What a nice venue!!! Beautiful grounds, ample parking, convenient location right off the expressway...not to mention the inside of the restaurant is gorgeously appointed. I just a restaurant by its washrooms. If the washrooms are taken care of, then you know every other aspect of the place is also. Now to the food. Amazing! The selection, quality, taste, all superb. Finally, the service. Absolutely wonderful experience! Went for my brother's birthday, for lunch, and it was amazing!! The staff was very sweet and friendly. As it was our first time, they answered all of our questions and were more than helpful. Truly making it a worthwhile experience. And the food was out of this world. Everything on the market table and side bars was fresh and excellent. And the meats were exceptional. The side dishes of mashed potatoes, polenta, plantains, and pao de queijo were my favorite part. I would go back for the sides alone! We did't try any of the drinks but the dessert of Chocolate Brigadeiro is a must try. Came here for the first time a couple days ago and can safely say this experience is enough for me to know this branch is terrible. Showed up on time according to reservation and seated on time. After this, everything failed. Our waitress came in nearly after being seated and rushed us through the menu. Didn't even ask us if all of us are seated, in which case, I would've mentioned not everyone is seated but she was clearly on her own agenda. Moved on to ordering, I went with traditional meat service. Flipped my card to green to find that over an hour and half, less than half of the meats made it to my table. Additionally I was lied to about cuts, specifically, a t bone came by and I was incorrectly told I was receiving ribeye. I requested several meats that never arrived. The wait staff at the end was incredibly rude because they wanted to close. Despite me citing the limitation in delivery they just shrugged off the issues as they weren't told and therefore they aren't responsible for the limited experience. Bottom line, not worth it. We celebrated a company holiday party at this new Fogo location in Oak Brook. I was working with Paula the Sales Mgr to reserve the date and talk about the different options. She was very responsive and she took care of all of our needs and requests. Overall, my group had a fantastic time. The meats were delicious and everything we asked for arrived as expected. The salad bar was fantatastic. The Brazilian cheese rolls and the sweet bananas were so addicting. We all enjoyed our time at Fogo. Check in was great and time it took to seat us was quick. It started well the servers were coming out quickly and there was a variety of meats but than it all pretty much stopped. Drinks took for ever! We had to ask multiple people multiple times for refills ! We did tell our server we were waiting for a specific cut of meat and she said oh yes it's available but she never came back and the meat never came. We even had to wait to pay. This was very disappointing. I would not recommend this location because of its service. read more

We previously visited this location and had a decent time, but this last time we visited (on a Monday) celebrating getting married; the food was okay, but we had to ask for our sides as the bread didn't come out until half an hour in, and the polenta, plantains, and mashed potatoes we had to ask for after an hour of waiting. We genuinely felt like we were an afterthought, what was supposed to be a fun little celebration turned into slow torture as when we were ready to pay we had to sit there for an extra twenty minutes until we gave up and flagged a rogue server down. read more

I was very excited to try Fogo de Chao. When we walked in, it look a few minutes for someone to come to the host station and check us in. Once we were seated, our waiter came to ask us what we'd like to drink and he described the menu options. We went with the traditional churrasco experience. Included in this was brazilian cheese bread, mashed potates, fried polenta and bananas, the market table and tableside cuts of various meats. My favorite had to be the lamb picanha. Super flavorful and juicy. I was honestly pretty disappointed with the various steak cuts. They had a good taste when they weren't cooked to death, but no seasoning! At a Brazilian Steakhouse, I expected more. It took asking four different servers for a drink refill, but eventually one of them remembered and brought it over. They have an interesting system because you don't have one waiter or waitress, they all work as a team. Several people were checking on us, but when we asked for something it took awhile to get. We were celebrating a special occassion and we were able to order a dessert on the house. We ordered the papaya cream as it was supposed to settle the stomach after all that meat. It was incredibly tasty! So overall good experience, but slightly disappointed with some aspects, especially with the price. read more

My husband and I decided to take our tribe of 7 out for the day. We landed at Fogo de Chão and it was a total hit with our babies. Our tribe range from 10-19 yrs of age plus my hubby and I. My kids loved it here. Special shoutout to Paulina (who has the greatest skin and even better spirit. She is a gem!) Daniel was our other host and he was the best ever. He had great carisma and just knew what to do whilst always having a super smile on his face. Brayn was awesome too! Not to mention each meat server was so nice. We loved Emmanuel from Medellin!!!! We paid for the deluxe experience but should have taken discounted best of Brazil since they only came around with better selection when we were done. Our meat was fatty. Waited 45 minutes after reservation time. Waiter dropped knife, cut himself, and almost hit one of our feet. 450 for 4 people was a total waste of money. I feel like our whole experience should be refunded. Feel totally ripped off. I work too hard for my money to spend it on an experience like this. read more

We came here with a party of 6 for a birthday on a Saturday night and had a reservation of course. Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience when we first got there, we had to wait 40 minutes to get seated along with many other parties, it was clear they were overbooked. That's where the disappointment ended though. When we got seated the manager came over and offered us some Prosecco which I loved. Our waiter was very nice and took care of us. The salad bar seemed very fresh and had a lot of great options. The meat was tender and flavorful and I got medium rare about 80% of the time which I was plenty satisfied with. We never had to wait long for the meat to come around and the runners kept bringing side dishes and asking what we wanted more of. Manager Camillo and his team with Miguel, Kitchen manager and hosts were extremely professional during our visit on Thanksgiving evening. We were party of 8 and we were treated like. A VIP. Even a Michelin Star restaurant cannot come close to the extremely attentive service with attention to detail. I am an executive chef/owner of a restaurant and I know what it takes to be a successful evening for a group of 8. MANAGER Camillo was so involved with every guest and extremely professional, WOW!! This was our first time at Oakbrook location and it was the best experience of all the restaurants I have visited in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. Being in this business for over 40 years I rarely come across such professional experience from a busy restaurant on Thanksgiving day or any day. KUDOS TO CAMILLO AND HIS TEAM. I have been to just about every Fogo de Chao in the USA. This was my worst experience by far. 1. Reservation was at 8:30. Didn't get seated until 9:00. That has never happened to me. It was obvious they overbooked to get as many people in and out as possible. 2. Waiter service was the worst I've seen. Very slow and inattentive. 3. Meat service was very slow. I only saw 4 meats come my way and had to ask multiple times for other meats or they would have never came to my table. Very disheartening to see. 4. Manager grabbed my card and flipped it over to green as I was starting on my salad. Kinda startled me a bit as I was not ready for Meat service. It was obvious he was trying to get me in and out as fast as possible. 5. The music was incredibly loud which was a first for me at any Fogo location. I'm disappointed that I chose Fogo as my restaurant of choice during my visit to Chicago. There were better options nearby . read more

I certainly did not want to go to a chain restaurant for a birthday celebration. However, this is what the birthday boy wanted and so we went there with a party of 14. I would never recommend this for a romantic dinner. There's just too much going on. But for our purposes, it was amazing. The salad bar is way more than a salad bar. They had so much delicious, food and interesting options. That alone is worth the trip. Everybody seem to be focused on the beef, but the chicken dishes were absolutely amazing. I brought the whole family here last year and it was great. This year, way less so. Got seated in a fairly timely manner, all good. Salad bar good, first round of drinks fine. Then .... first guy comes by with meat. And he was it. For a long while. I ended up having to wave the next guys down. It was like they only worked one half of the room, then went next door. Finally got another guy, then that was it again for a while. Our server came back, asked what we needed. I said, "food." None of the tables in our area were getting attention. She said she'd send them our way. I also ordered a second drink. After another wait, I still ended up rounding up the guys with the meat myself. And my second drink never came after 20 minutes, and meanwhile, we were finishing up. We never got another round of water until I asked for that as well. Then it was time to leave. Still no server. I ended up going all the way up front to the hostess to say, I don't need my second drink, I need my check. The manager finally came by, asked what was up. I told him, it's too late for a second drink, we just need to pay and leave. He said no sweat, he'll make sure I don't get charged for the drink I never got, and he'll get my check. Guess what --- he brings the check and I had been charged. He said it would take too long to fix it, so he gave me a gift card for my next visit. Gee, thanks. So I took care of the bill, and there we are putting our coats on, and some random guy shows up with my second drink, half an hour after I ordered it. Sorry, but the place ain't cheap, and when you show up, they literally ask you if you want to order "the whole experience." Which we did. I think next year if we do Brazilian, we'll hit the Chama Gaucha. read more

We went for my daughter 16th birthday with 6 people. The food was really good. The servers were extremely bad. Halfway through our meal we ended up having the manager or someone higher up finish our table because our server went home I'm assuming. Ambience was really nice, a little dirty with stuff left under table from last people that sat at the table. Also, we requested a few meats and they never got brought to the table. Quite the experience... Don't know how else to put it. My wife and I did an early anniversary dinner and chose Fogo as our choice. Be both got the full Brazilian Experience and got the endless meat option, lol. Was very very good. I would DEFINITELY say the meats were better than other brazillian steak houses we have been to. The Picanha was our favorite, and was followed by the Filet Mignon. My wife LOVED the Queijo Assado (the cheese), I was surprised at how good the chicken thighs were (i'm usually a breast guy). I also loved the candied bacon from the market table. Sides and Market table were not as good as other Brazillian places I have been, lacking some of the variety. But lets be honest, the reason i came here was for the meats, and that is where they excelled :) Service was very good, there was always someone checking on us and keeping us topped of with drinks and meat. Then we got charged $27 for it at the end. Not sure how we were supposed to know that wasn't included like every other protein that was brought to our table. I help plan events for my company, and we were wanting to do a presentation as well as a social a few hours afterward. I reached out to Fogo, and Paula L. was absolutely amazing. I received a prompt response and was extremely helpful for all of our requests. They have a room that can be turned into a room for presentations, and then we could just move over to our private bar area, which includes an outdoor patio. The seating was amazing, the food was amazing, and the staff was AMAZING! Any staff member was ready to jump in and help if I had a question. It was the smoothest work party I have ever hosted. The food setup is really cool too. They have a large bar area to serve yourself, but every dish on there was top tier, and then they would come around to your tables to serve you directly with fresh cuts of meat. I am a vegetarian and figured I might be out of luck on a lot of food, which is normal and fine by me, but the chef whipped up the best-roasted cauliflower I have ever had! I highly recommend them for anyone looking for large events or just an evening out. read more

James was great. He was very attentive, helpful, and accommodating. Ambiance was slightly relaxed and slightly intense. Servers are always running around with meat and cheese. The garlic steak was the best, but some sirloin was dry as well as the chicken. All the pork was very tasty. Definitely worth the price, just make sure you're really hungry. read more

I love this place. This location is so stylish and chic, they had live music on a weekday evening was a nice touch. We sat in the lounge area where the servers come thru slinging their meats with no delay. The outdoor seating looks lovely too. The Brazilian bread and the mashed potatoes are delicious. You also get plantains, those were nice too. The meats are yummy, I was a big of some and not of others. I love this salad bar and try the black beans as they are to die for. Service was superb.
