    Australian Lamb Chops
    Julia C.

It's such a wonderfully, intimate restaurant. We went for a birthday date and were sat in the lower level (?) which is quieter than the main area you see when you walk in. It felt fancy but also casual at the same time, a great spot for date night. The service was unremarkable. We were checked on adequately I would say. We were able to talk without being interrupted often and the timing of the drinks, appetizer and main meal was appropriate for the kind of night we wanted. The food was amazing. I ordered the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection and for the first time I was able to taste the difference. The menu claims its Australian lamb and it did taste much gamier than other lamb that I have had but definitely not in a bad way. I wanted to add a lobster tail but when I ordered the lobster mac and cheese, the server was kind enough to mention that the mac would come with a full tail so that helped me decide. Overall, I would go again. Again, great for date night but also if you want to have nice evening with a small group of friends but you're tired of going to chain steak restaurants. I would not recommend for families with children under 10, the kiddos will be bored.

Service was extremely cheerful and helpful. I took my father here for Happy Hour as he isn't well and cannot eat much. I wish I got our servers name but I def want to go back. It is hard to impress my father! He got the steak medallions w shrimp and fries. I got medallions on top of mashed potatoes which was really good with the peppercorn sauce. Side note: I can. It believe they have Donna's Pickle Beer! I will go back just because of that! It's hard to find at restaurants

Old school steak hours, white table cloth, extensive wine and cocktail menu. Staff Friendly and attentive. Well lit and comfortable seating, Happy Hour menu with very reasonable prices, dinner menu prices are on par with higher end steak houses. Ordered the New York Strip with Fries, steak was good but nothing exceptional, the peppercorn Sauce was very good and elevated the steak. Nate was my server and he deserves a raise, Nates level of service was above expectations, Nate was on top of everything, he knows the menu inside out, he kept me informed of the status of my order, drink was refilled without asking, and to top it off when I paid with my card he thanked me by name even though it was my first visit and finished off with a hope to see you again soon. The Remy is lucky to have Nate as a server. 5 Stars for Nate! 3 Stars for the Steak Would go back to try them again.

I'm on a hunt for happy hour eats. This was recommended by a friend and. It was a 10/10. We ordered the happy hour cheeseburger that came with fries and shrimp and steak. The bill came to $44 including tax and tip. It was just the perfect amount of food. The fries were crispy and nicely salted. The burger had a smokey charred taste. We asked for their house sauce on the side, the sauce tastes like the Big Mac sauce. The shrimp was a little dry but it was huge and tasted like lobster. The filet medallions were cooked well but somehow stilly juicy. I'll be back!

Forgot the name, but this cocktail tasted just as great it looks!

This place is surprisingly good! I was in the area and had to Yelp for recommendations as always and The Remy popped up. I enjoyed the classy country cowboy feel but one that's not intimidating. I had a NY steak too and that did not disappoint! Will come back for a date night!

This has become one of my favorite steak houses. My husband and I came here for our anniversary. Our server was so thoughtful and helped make it special. We had our baby with us and they really helped accommodate our experience. Truly appreciate it. The restaurant gives you an old lodge feel. Dark wood, rustic with beautiful bars. The food is awesome. Nothing is bad. Absolutely get a steak, clearly. But they also have great sides to share, especially the corn bread. The tuna appetizer is so flavorful and light. Great balance to a heavy man course.

I booked a reservation for two to celebrate my birthday and was genuinely excited to finally try this place. My husband had previously visited during a work event and spoke highly of the atmosphere, so my expectations were definitely high. We started with oysters, bone marrow, grilled octopus, and tuna sashimi, then decided to splurge on the tomahawk steak. Unfortunately, while everything was prepared well enough, most of the dishes felt under-seasoned and lacked flavor. Nothing really stood out as memorable from the food itself. The one exception was my cocktail--something with matcha and strawberry purée--which was absolutely delicious and ended up being the highlight of the meal. The seating arrangement also left a lot to be desired. The tables are packed very closely together, making the dining experience feel cramped. Our table was situated between two booth-style benches that were noticeably different heights and much lower than the chair my husband was seated in across from me, which made things feel awkward and uncomfortable throughout dinner. On a positive note, our server was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service from start to finish. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the price point. We spent a significant amount on dinner and left feeling underwhelmed. While I'm glad we finally gave it a try, it's not a place we'll likely return to.

I grew up in San Diego so to me this location was always the Hunter Steakhouse, but I was happy to see that after that closed the The Remy took its place and I would say that it is a more upscale improvement to compared to the chain. It's located right off of the 8 Freeway very close to Old Town and Downtown San Diego. They have a medium size parking lot attached otherwise free street parking is also easy to find. Inside is quite large and comes with a giant bar that was very lively during our visit. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. I started off with the Wagyu Beef Tartare, and thought it was pretty nice although it wasn't my favorite version that I've had recently. I wish it would've had more of a mustard or enhanced flavor to it so I don't think I would order that again on future visits. For my entrée, I chose the Wagyu Filet Mignon and got a side of Bone Marrow and thought both were really great. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Bone Marrow was not very large, but it had great flavor to it. It was actually just one half of the bone so it is more of a side. Overall, a really solid steakhouse and I would recommend to anyone.

Happy hour mon-fri 2:30-5, weekends 3-5 Food specials

Came here for happy hour (Mon-Fri 2:30-5:00, Weekends 3-5) They have GREAT happy hour specials. I got the Wagyu Smash burger, it came with a 2 wagyu patties, american cheese, caramelized onions, sauce, pickles, and fries. The burger was really juicy and the caramelized onions were a perfect match to the burger. The fries seemed cut in house and freshly fried. At $11 i thought that was a really good deal. They also asked if i wanted some aioli to go with the fries which i thought was a great addition, i used it both on the buger and dipped some of the fries in. I also got a cocktail, Son of a bee-sting ($10 HH) it was made with gin, lemon, honey and ginger. It was quite spicy from the ginger, which i like so if you like the spice of ginger definitely get this one! If you like sweet i really like the Frankie Wallbanger, taste like a jolly rancher! Theres a game room with a pool table and shuffle board if you head out the back exit on the main floor past the bar. There's also an upstairs and downstairs if you want to rent out a private room, ive been in both. The down stairs has its own bar but is smaller, the upstairs holds more people but if you don't have enough to take up the whole space you may find yourself sharing the space with another party. As i left the place started to fill up and the parking lot was full, so i guess its kind of a popular happy hour. Friendly service, great prices during happy hour, i'll definitely be back!

Had an awesome dinner at The Remy in Mission Valley. The 30-day wet-aged ribeye was incredible -- seared over a wood fire grill and basted with beef tallow while resting. Seriously one of the best steaks I've had in San Diego. Our server Nate was fantastic; super attentive, funny, and had great recommendations all night. The Old Fashioned was strong and full of flavor, just the way it should be. The place has a really cool vibe, kind of like an old hunting cabin, warm and rustic but upscale at the same time. Appetizers and sides were spot-on too. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and the team brought out ice cream with a candle, which was a great touch. Parking lot was a bit small. We didn't even try it and just parked on the street right out front. Overall, The Remy nailed it -- great food, great service, and a unique atmosphere. Definitely coming back.

What a wonderful place to enjoy a lunch. We came here to have lunch while some family members were in town to celebrate my Husband's birthday. The place is very clean and very well maintained. After about 3-5 mins, we were greeted and seated in a half booth half dining table area near the bar. The bar was very popular for lunch, with many patrons eating and drinking. We were offered flat or sparkling water and we chose both for the table. The place settings were minimalist, yet classy. There is something to say about simple and clean dining setups, they are great in my eyes. We ordered: 1 Caesar Salad 1 Wedge Salad with Steak 1 Tuna Tartare 1 Steak Sandwich with fries 1 Ahi Tuna Sandwich 1 Gin Pear Cocktail 1 Gin Lime Cocktail Our server was a nice lady and she even gave us a tour of the location after we dined. The food was very well prepared and tasted great! This is such a nice steakhouse and I recommend stopping here to experience their lunch menu. We will try their dinner menu as well when we can get back here; hopefull

But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.

We dined on Sunday for the first time and tried their Sunday Funday Feast. This Sunday the feast…read moreincluded a Choice of one Pasta Dish; Fresh baked Focaccia and fresh salad. It's served Family-Style and is enough for 3-4 people which was only $60. The restaurant is small and charming with a window into the kitchen. They make their pasta fresh (be sure to include your pasta texture preference when ordering (Al Dente or Softer, etc.) We were greeted by Angela (the owner) and she made us feel welcome (as if we were dining over a friend's home which I absolutely loved). She started us off with some fresh baked Focaccia which had herb + cheese baked into the top (of course it was delicious). We added an appetizer called Crespelle which was a really yummy spin on a Manicotti made the right way (with a Crespelle). The salad was fresh and tasty. We order the Rigatoni Sugo which has a Tomato based sauce and assorted meats (Meatballs, Sausage, Cubes of meat) and was delicious along with the meats as well. We also added the Picanha Steak Entree with the Brie Fondue and that was so different while being soooo yummy. We enjoyed some wine with our meal and we finished with this really delicious Bavarian Cream Filled Napoleon with a Berry Coulis (desserts do change so check with restaurant to see what they have available the day you want to visit).. We can't wait to come back and try their Grigliata Mista (Meat Feast for 3-4 people).

Otherwise it would've been impossible to get parking. We did park across the street at a pay parking lot for under $16 for 2 hours. Great music being played, mainly old school, which I love. We ordered from their Prix Fixe menu, for starts we got Caesar salad and the Shrimp cocktail. Salad was good and my shrimp cocktail was even better, plenty of horseradish plus slices of a spicy pepper possibly habanero. We also got their complimentary read which was soft and tasty. We shared a porterhouse steak medium rare and it was delicious. For sides we ordered asparagus and macaroni and cheese. Portions were abundant no complaints. And for dessert we ordered the apple pie which came topped with crème fraise. I also got a Cafe Americano, which is the only coffee you can order. Our waiter was knowledgeable and entertaining. Helping us with ordering and making our celebration memorable. Definitely a great place for celebrating.

We grabbed a table overlooking the water, and the whole setting just works--open-air, breezy, relaxed, and upscale without feeling stuffy. Add a cocktail and that waterfront backdrop and you're already off to a good start. We definitely sampled our way around the menu. The crispy sweet potato fries were a favorite--hot, crisp, and perfectly snackable. We also had a loaded basket of fries with crispy bites and dipping sauces that disappeared pretty quickly. The Asian-inspired chicken salad was fresh, colorful, and packed with texture: grilled chicken, greens, crunchy wontons, herbs, and a sweet-savory dressing that pulled everything together. Then there was that sandwich. Thick, toasted bread, a seriously generous filling, bacon, greens, and a creamy sauce on the side. This is not a dainty lunch situation. Come hungry! We also tried a beautifully presented seafood dish with crispy taro chips and plantains. Great presentation and a nice change of pace from the heavier plates. Cocktails were refreshing and exactly what you want while sitting by the bay. What really sells C-Level, though, is the full experience. You're enjoying good food and drinks with boats passing in the distance and some of the best waterfront scenery in San Diego. It's equally good for taking out-of-town guests, a leisurely lunch, date day, or simply pretending you're on vacation for a couple of hours. Pro tip: Get a waterfront table if you can. That's where C-Level really shines.

We decided not to send it back because, at that point, it felt like doing so would take away even more from our evening. For a steak at that price point, though, I do feel it should be cooked to the temperature requested. That's one of those details that really matters when ordering an expensive cut of meat. The other disappointment was our table. Since it was our anniversary, we were hoping for a nicer, more comfortable spot, but we were seated at what felt like one of the worst tables in the restaurant. We were facing a wall, with people constantly walking behind us, and the alternative direction would have had us facing the backs of people sitting at the bar. It just didn't feel like a special anniversary setting. The drinks were good, although nothing particularly memorable. On the positive side, our service was attentive and the staff was pleasant, which we definitely appreciated. Overall, I think there is potential for a great experience here, but for a $125 steak and an anniversary dinner, we expected a little more. Unfortunately, the food and seating situation didn't quite live up to what we were hoping for.
