My husband and I went in to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary and we were so glad we did. I had just given birth to our beautiful baby boy who had to be in the NICU so we were really in a place where we needed a moment to get a breather. We are so glad we chose this place. The place was beautiful. It felt like you were in a beautifully decorated yet cozy cabin. We didn't need a reservation thankfully. We had Shawn as our server and he did an awesome job. My husband and I shared the beef tartar which was amazing! We also shared a delicious steak with a side of bone marrow and Mac & cheese. This was my first real meal I got to eat since my pregnancy that wasn't hospital food. I got to say, it did not disappoint! I'm really picky when it comes to steak because my husband smokes our steaks so nothing else seems to live up to his. This is probably one of the best steakhouses to eat in San Diego, if not the best. We will be back! read more

It's such a wonderfully, intimate restaurant. We went for a birthday date and were sat in the lower level (?) which is quieter than the main area you see when you walk in. It felt fancy but also casual at the same time, a great spot for date night. The service was unremarkable. We were checked on adequately I would say. We were able to talk without being interrupted often and the timing of the drinks, appetizer and main meal was appropriate for the kind of night we wanted. The food was amazing. I ordered the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection and for the first time I was able to taste the difference. The menu claims its Australian lamb and it did taste much gamier than other lamb that I have had but definitely not in a bad way. I wanted to add a lobster tail but when I ordered the lobster mac and cheese, the server was kind enough to mention that the mac would come with a full tail so that helped me decide. Overall, I would go again. Again, great for date night but also if you want to have nice evening with a small group of friends but you're tired of going to chain steak restaurants. I would not recommend for families with children under 10, the kiddos will be bored. read more

I'm on a hunt for happy hour eats. This was recommended by a friend and. It was a 10/10. We ordered the happy hour cheeseburger that came with fries and shrimp and steak. The bill came to $44 including tax and tip. It was just the perfect amount of food. The fries were crispy and nicely salted. The burger had a smokey charred taste. We asked for their house sauce on the side, the sauce tastes like the Big Mac sauce. The shrimp was a little dry but it was huge and tasted like lobster. I booked a reservation for two to celebrate my birthday and was genuinely excited to finally try this place. My husband had previously visited during a work event and spoke highly of the atmosphere, so my expectations were definitely high. We started with oysters, bone marrow, grilled octopus, and tuna sashimi, then decided to splurge on the tomahawk steak. Unfortunately, while everything was prepared well enough, most of the dishes felt under-seasoned and lacked flavor. Nothing really stood out as memorable from the food itself. The one exception was my cocktail--something with matcha and strawberry purée--which was absolutely delicious and ended up being the highlight of the meal. The seating arrangement also left a lot to be desired. The tables are packed very closely together, making the dining experience feel cramped. Our table was situated between two booth-style benches that were noticeably different heights and much lower than the chair my husband was seated in across from me, which made things feel awkward and uncomfortable throughout dinner. On a positive note, our server was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service from start to finish. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the price point. We spent a significant amount on dinner and left feeling underwhelmed. While I'm glad we finally gave it a try, it's not a place we'll likely return to. read more

I grew up in San Diego so to me this location was always the Hunter Steakhouse, but I was happy to see that after that closed the The Remy took its place and I would say that it is a more upscale improvement to compared to the chain. It's located right off of the 8 Freeway very close to Old Town and Downtown San Diego. They have a medium size parking lot attached otherwise free street parking is also easy to find. Inside is quite large and comes with a giant bar that was very lively during our visit. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. I started off with the Wagyu Beef Tartare, and thought it was pretty nice although it wasn't my favorite version that I've had recently. I wish it would've had more of a mustard or enhanced flavor to it so I don't think I would order that again on future visits. For my entrée, I chose the Wagyu Filet Mignon and got a side of Bone Marrow and thought both were really great. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Bone Marrow was not very large, but it had great flavor to it. It was actually just one half of the bone so it is more of a side. Came here for happy hour (Mon-Fri 2:30-5:00, Weekends 3-5) They have GREAT happy hour specials. I got the Wagyu Smash burger, it came with a 2 wagyu patties, american cheese, caramelized onions, sauce, pickles, and fries. The burger was really juicy and the caramelized onions were a perfect match to the burger. The fries seemed cut in house and freshly fried. At $11 i thought that was a really good deal. They also asked if i wanted some aioli to go with the fries which i thought was a great addition, i used it both on the buger and dipped some of the fries in. I also got a cocktail, Son of a bee-sting ($10 HH) it was made with gin, lemon, honey and ginger. It was quite spicy from the ginger, which i like so if you like the spice of ginger definitely get this one! If you like sweet i really like the Frankie Wallbanger, taste like a jolly rancher! Theres a game room with a pool table and shuffle board if you head out the back exit on the main floor past the bar. There's also an upstairs and downstairs if you want to rent out a private room, ive been in both. The down stairs has its own bar but is smaller, the upstairs holds more people but if you don't have enough to take up the whole space you may find yourself sharing the space with another party. Had an awesome dinner at The Remy in Mission Valley. The 30-day wet-aged ribeye was incredible -- seared over a wood fire grill and basted with beef tallow while resting. Seriously one of the best steaks I've had in San Diego. Our server Nate was fantastic; super attentive, funny, and had great recommendations all night. The Old Fashioned was strong and full of flavor, just the way it should be. The place has a really cool vibe, kind of like an old hunting cabin, warm and rustic but upscale at the same time. After about 3-5 mins, we were greeted and seated in a half booth half dining table area near the bar. The bar was very popular for lunch, with many patrons eating and drinking. We were offered flat or sparkling water and we chose both for the table. The place settings were minimalist, yet classy. There is something to say about simple and clean dining setups, they are great in my eyes. Spent about 260 - had bone in ribeye (medium rare and was cooked exactly medium rare), bread, oysters, bone marrow, wedge salad and Mac n cheese. Order of best to worst: 1. Oysters - they had like a house made cocktail sauce "paste" - unlike anything I've ever had.. 2, Mac n cheese- was smoky, kind of like smoked Gouda vibes w bacon on top. 3. Bone Marrow and tbh the SAUCE of the bone marrow was the highlight. Like a tangy Marsala with capers, the sliced bread was very good also. 4. Steak was good, could have been more tender? But was charred nicely in the outside. 5. Wedge salad was nice- chunky pieces of bacon, fried onion crispies. Didn't expect it to have dill in the entire dressing- not my fave flavor but it was good. 6, Table bread was pretty hard on the outside, room temp, bread no flavor since it came with truffle butter (which was nice). They were the only ones out of 7 steakhouse calls that picked up my phone call and told me that they have a table for 2 at the patio (we found out because other people cancelled, not because they're not good). Well here we are the wife and I having lunch at the Remy to see if the magic was still there . We weren't in a hurry so we waited about 8 minutes and out of nowhere a young man wearing a beautiful Stetson western hat came from behind the bar and sat us down. Kevin was his name . He had us sit down near the bar because this is where they serve lunch . Dinner didn't start till 3or 4 . Wife wanted steak so we had a rib eye steak with rappini and Yukon mashed potatoes but before the steak we had a wonderful wedge salad with thick chunks of bacon and cherry tomatoes with a blue cheese dressing. We had a good experience for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We made a reservation online and requested the downstairs area. Upon entering the establishment you can see the attention to detail they have done to remodel this restaurant. It's like a cool cowboy decor and not tacky, or normal steak house. I gave them minus 1 star as they had run out of the bread service, after we had ordered it, so we didn't get to try it, and it was not that late in the evening around 7pm. We sat at a corner table, that was perfect and intimate for our dinner. We were promptly greeted when seated and the wait staff was awesome and very attentive. Our server Ryan recommended some great wine the Harvey & Harriet and also the type of meat to choose since it was our first time visiting this restaurant. We ordered: - Harvey & Harriet Syrah blend wine and it was delicious, very smooth and paired perfectly with our steak. - Wagyu ribeye steak that was perfectly cooked and buttery soft. The whiskey peppercorn sauce we added provides some delicious flavor to the steak. We shared the steak since it was 16oz cut. - Crispy Brussel sprouts that were full of flavor with bacon and some sweet golden raisins - Small Mac and cheese which was gooey, cheesy and so good. Terrible parking, the street had a few spots luckily. The food was underwhelming. Wedge Salad 5/5 - great crisp salad, loved the crispy shallots. Scallops 2/5 - Rubbery, fishy, not a fan with the flavors that accompanied the dish. Wagyu Ribeye 3/5 - The cook was fine, I did like that it came with green beans (al dente) and mashed potatoes (flavorless). The steak itself didn't have much flavor, I asked for horseradish on the side to help. Crispy Brussels Sprouts 2/5 - the definitely were NOT crispy. We finally made it to The Remy for New Year's dinner and it did not disappoint. I've always wanted to try this restaurant , and getting reservations online was super easy. They do have their own parking lot, but it fills up fast, luckily there's plenty of street parking nearby. We were seated early, which was a nice surprise, and the restaurant is much bigger than I expected with both lower and upper levels. The vibe was lively but still felt upscale and comfortable. We started with the shrimp cocktail and mussels, both were soooo good. Fresh, flavorful, and dishes we'd absolutely order again. For our mains, we tried the wagyu filet and wagyu ribeye. Both came with mashed potatoes and green beans, and everything was cooked perfectly. We also added a side of cornbread, which was super moist and delicious. Honestly, not a bad dish in sight. Pleasantly surprised by their steak and would give that a 4/5 and the rest of their food closer to 3.5/5. We went for the happy hour to try out their food. I would recommend the steak frites; steak was tender and perfectly cooked to medium well, fries were my favorite type (i like them limp so if you like them crispy, you might not enjoy these), but salad was heavily overdressed. Filet medallions with mashed potatoes was a laughably small portion that was equivalent to one kebab but was tender. The steak from the steak frites and the filet medallions were pretty much equally tender. Wagyu smashburger was average but a pretty good deal for $11. Caesar salad was also a very small portion for $9; know that it is not a traditional caesar and has more lemon in it. Staff were nice and constantly checked in on us to see how we were doing (maybe a little too much but it was fine). I loved their decor and the ambiance was nice. They have a parking lot, and while it isn't the biggest lot, you should have no trouble finding parking. Looks like there is enough street parking for overflow. read more

Some of you may be familiar with the old Hunter's Restaurant, at the west end of Mission Valley, by the AAA. Remy has taken over the space, but continues the meat-centric menu. The restaurant has a bit of a western theme, but has not overdone it. Upstairs, there is an intricately carved cow's skull that is worth seeking out, if you like that sort of thing. Small parking lot, I had to park on the street in the back. Accommodating staff. I was a guest at a lecture/presentation here, which included dinner consisting of salad, bread, entree, and dessert. I ordered the wild caught pan roasted salmon with (a delectable) saffron-vanilla sauce, and pineapple upside down bundt cake with a pineapple bourbon glaze. Everything was delicious, but the sauce, especially so. (If I had been at home, I would have licked my plate.) Unfortunately, these items, except for salad and bread, are not on the regular menu, which is too bad. Good portion size. The byline for this restaurant is "Cocktails and Meat" and they're not kidding. Woe, the vegan or even vegetarian, as almost everything served used to saunter on 4 legs. Here's hoping that they'll serve that salmon with that sauce to regular patrons. If so, I'll order it to go, with extra sauce, so I can lick my plate at home. read more

Our server, Mark, was incredibly personable, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of from start to finish without ever being overbearing. I'm very particular about how my steak is cooked. I order it medium well, but leaning more toward medium, and somehow they had it down to a science. It was cooked absolutely perfectly! The best steak I've had in a long time. Mark also recommended the cocktails and dessert, and all were phenomenal. Trust your server here...they know what they're doing. We actually dined at Mastro's just two weeks ago, and while we enjoyed it, I honestly preferred the food, service, and overall atmosphere at The Remy. The spot is definitely a hidden gem! My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary dinner. We came mid November and the restaurant was decorated with Christmas decor. I LOVED IT. We made reservations for a Monday night at 5:15p, but it wasn't that busy when we got there. We ordered a Caesar salad and a large bacon mac n cheese for apps. This is a very nice, high-end steakhouse and one of the best date night spots around. It is definitely on the pricey side, but the quality of the food makes it worth every penny. Everything we ordered was prepared exceptionally well, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. We really enjoyed the ambiance as well. The servers were incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and the drink selections, and they offered some excellent pairing recommendations that really enhanced the meal. My only minor complaint is that the tables downstairs are a bit close together. At times, you can easily hear conversations from neighboring tables, which isn't ideal when you're paying top dollar for a more intimate dinner experience. That said, it wasn't enough to take away from an otherwise fantastic evening. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance were outstanding. We didn't eat steak but I would if I came back!! Wendy was our server and she was excellent, she made recommendations, asked questions and offered a taste before I ordered a glass of wine. The salads were delicious and plentiful, the bread was served warm with a delicious compound butter... I would order this again. The roasted octopus appetizer was delicious and very plentiful... enough for an entree! The A5 Waygu Croquet was so rich, I really could barely finish the four small bites with minimal A5 waygu on top the croquet covered in parmesan cheese... I had to search for the meat. I am a steak lover, so I had to check this spot out when I heard good things about it. My visit was from May of 2024 and I met up with some foodie friends here. The ambience has a classic steakhouse vibe. We started with some drinks, so I got a mocktail while my friends got cocktails instead. We shared the ceviche, but it's tomato-based and the not the citrusy kind that I prefer. For the main course, we opted for the bone-in ribeye to share and it was beautifully presented. The sauces were great, but I don't remember enjoying the steak very much. We added asparagus and mushrooms as our sides, so the meal was very filling.
