A very odd place, luckily the pizza is good. Very confusing place since you have to do everything but make the pizza yourself. They just tell you where to sit and you are on your own for everything else- have to go to counter to order, get your own plates, utensils, drinks ( including nearly room temperature water) they just drop off the pizza at your table. Tables are very close together and some have no seats, noisy place. Piza was very good though, but I see why many people buy it and eat it elsewhere. We were visiting Burlington for the Vermont Brewers Festival. We stopped in at the brewery next door and was drawn in by the smell of the tomato sauce. Numerous people gave it a good review, so we returned the next night. I wish the food was as good as it smelled. My wife and I are third generation Italians. Both of our grandmothers were amazing cooks. We know firsthand what Italian cooking should taste like. This is not it. We chose the Prosciutto Di Parma pizza. Salty!! The crust was too thin. Maybe that's how you like it, but that's not good pizza. As a result, most of the crust was burned black. I was surprised when I was told how much it cost. I was told that I had ordered their most expensive item. Everywhere we go we see pizza shops claiming to be Authentic New York Pizza. This place makes no such claims, so I do not hold them to this standard. A local that we were discussing the pizza with described it with the word... Artisinal. Okay, maybe. Definitely not Authentic. We had numerous good meals while visiting Burlington. This is not one that we would recommend. read more

Throw in Fiddlehead Brewery with some of the best beer in VERMONT and the Shelburne location is probably the greatest pizza joint you'll ever have the pleasure of chowing down at. Sitting out the new bar is a blast and sitting outsight in the summer is delightful. You guys are truly the bomb and I feel so blessed to have you around. They also have pizza dough you can pick up at any time and simply donate as much as you want to the 52 kids foundation they created to support orphans in Africa... Pizza is good, not great, but what brings this place down is a bad attitude and utter lack of service. You will pay before you get food. Hint: Don't tip. There is no service. You even get your own plates. Hostess won't even help you when asked how many people different-sized pizzas serve. She clearly doesn't want to be here. We wanted so badly to love this place, especially since it's next to Fiddlehead but this experience was absolutely terrible. The space is really cramped, but that can't be helped. What can be helped is the staff's attitude. The cashier was incredibly rude, and our Prosciutto Di Parma pizza took an hour and fifteen minutes to come out. This is a relatively new restaurant in the area...and I always like checking out new things... We pulled into the parking lot on a random mid-week late afternoon (after calling to confirm they were "not too busy". After a little finagling we wedged our truck into a makeshift parking spot. Once inside we discovered despite the full parking lot, the restaurant did not appear to be very busy, just as they had said. I thought the restaurant had a good vibe. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It was kind of industrial and modern meets natural and organic. It is a metal pole building, so by nature it is kind of industrial. Some of the walls are metal, the floor is polished concrete and the heating duct work is exposed. The colors used throughout were dark and earthy - they felt good. There is a metal scaffold of sorts built in to give the big open room dimension and character and camouflage all of the electrical wires. The tables are custom made from rebar and wood and some stone. There is a nice stacked stone wall being built to camouflage the kitchen work station. The disappointing factor here being that seating is VERY LIMITED. There was one table that sat 6 or so, two tables that sat 4 and 2 tables that sat 2. then there were 3 pub tables to STAND AT and another counter/bar to STAND AT. Outside there was 2 picnic tables and a table that sat 4 (that appeared to be drug out there from inside). When I go out to eat....I want to sit down and relax, not stand. So, pizza is "the boyfriends food". When he eats pizza he eats 6 of the 8 slices of a traditional New York Style Pizzeria Pizza....and would eat all 8 if I weren't around. I have a strict 2-slice limit and I am FULL. So when we got our $13 "Large (Margherita) Pie" and it was basically personal pizza size for ME...it was disappointing. These are hand tossed Vermont-style, wood-fired flatbreads, I should have known better. Had I known they were so small I just would have ordered 2 for us and it would have been enough food...just expensive ($26 for pizza for 2!) The margherita pizza was good, but nothing made it stand out from any other pizza I have ever had. The basil was fresh and delicious, but the dough, sauce and cheese were average. We ate our pizza snack and I went home and made dinner. :-( So my summary: Limited parking. Limited seating. Take-out style service (order at counter and pick up your food when called). Nice Atmosphere. Small portions. Price was a little high for portion size - but acceptable to me. I would go back. I would like to try some of the other pies - and the locally brewed Fiddlehead beer! (Restaurant is BYO and Fiddlehead Brewing is attached to the North end of the building so you can get growlers for take-out to enjoy with your food!) Folino's even provides frosted glasses!! This has become our place to go when we are hungry and don't want to cook. I love their business model. Simple. They are almost always packed and usually have a waiting line. Get your table and go and order your food at the counter and pay there and then head next door for a baby growler or bigger if you need more of great beer. They make it so simple and easy. They have an outdoor area for the summer time and several large tables for big parties. You get your own glasses,water,silverware etc. they have excellent pizza and a really nice salad. The small can feed two easily and the large maybe about 6. It comes in a large wooden bowl. Did I say how much I love there business model. If I was only younger I would use it. They do have really good pizza and for that it deserves four stars however the attitude of the employees is horrendous. I have been there many times being a local and have yet to meet a friendly employee in this establishment. Also multiple times I have ordered food gone and picked it up and gotten home to realize they had screwed up the order. Now most recently I ordered food went when they told me to pick it up to find out they hadn't even made my pizzas yet. There was no apology from the cashier and offering some sort of discount for the inconvenience is the least that a business could do. read more

Folino's is a great place to stop by on a Friday night, grab some beer from Fiddlehead and pop it open while enjoying the pizza (BYOB). The pizza is good, and the atmosphere is friendly. I would prefer to give this 3.5 stars but that is not an option, you gotta stop to grab a pizza for dinner if it is on your way. Great pizza options, I am localized in Burlington so I wouldn't go out of my way per-say to come here due to the options in-town but never-the-less, I enjoy it when I am able to stop by. So stop by! don't be deterred from any confusion whether to sit or be seated and walking up to order, once you do it once you'll get the gist of it. Pizza was indescribable. Sauce of yellow tomatoes, melty goat cheese, fresh arugula. Chewy, crispy...everything good you want. Huge family bowl of salad with beets, carrots, and greens--everything was super fresh. We enjoyed with a growler of strawberry beer from Fiddlehead next door, and also spent time across the street at the vineyard. Great Pizza, and friendly staff. The ordering system is strange in that you pay first which makes you feel awkward tipping before you have even been served. Secondly, water is self service, I'm not apposed to this at all, but the entire time we were there, they did not refill the water jug even after asking them. Despite a little un-organization, the food is well prepared and very tasty. I recommend trying this place, I hope the owners rethink a few things. My wife and I tried Folino's this past wednesday night. The ingredients are fresh, the pizza is delicious, we are definitely fans of this place. The restaurant does not have a liquor license, so bring your own beer or wine, beer can be purchased next door at fiddlehead, in same building. A few recommendations for the restauranteurs, please provide ice, I know your glasses are chilled, but some people love ice, myself included. Please provide spoons, your parmesan cheese is shared from table to table. Lastly, your computer payment system is great, and I appreciate you not using paper, however, please however show me the total on the screen so I know I was charged correctly as you don't provide receipts as an option. Best pizza around. Great crust, not too heavy. Fun environment on the grass for bringing kids when weather is warm. Only issue is they didn't design the place well for managing customers when they walk in the door. It gets crowded in line quickly and there has always seemed to be a general sense of confusion among the staff, like they are just barely pulling it off (which in a way, adds to the Vermont quaintness of this place). Great wood fire pizza! The options seem strange for pizza, but what we tried was delicious! The atmosphere is fun and low key. The service is quick and although the place is quite small, things filter through pretty quickly. It's connected to a brewery which is neat and they allow you to purchase beer next door and bring over to enjoy with your meal. They even have a freezer of chilled glasses for your use. I didn't try the beer from next door, but I'll write for the pizza that it was very good. And the history behind the mission of the place and the use of their ingredients is commendable. The 4 stars are based on the pizza alone. Great thin crust, fresh ingredients, tons of choices. If you are a regular and know the drill this place must be awesome but if you are not from here the concept needs some explaining. It's BYOB and you are smart to get your beer from Fiddlehead Brewery next door. You have to wait to "wait to be seated" but then you are instructed to order at the register. Next use your powers of observation - cuz no one is going to tell you - and get your beer / wine glass out of the cooler near the soft drinks. The waitstaff will bring you your pizza but you clear the table when you are done. Now that we know what to do we will be back because we like the food / idea. Just would have liked some service to get us started. read more

There was a party that finished their food that lingered for 2 hours causing massive backup. During our hour+ wait we were never told this was a cash only restaurant until we were being seated. There isn't much to describe here. Folino's is in half of an aluminum barn. There are some tables you can sit at and a huge TV playing an aquarium loop. They don't have table service, you have to get your own plates etc and order at the counter. This keeps prices down as you can get a pizza and a salad for less than $20. The salad is very good (they only have one, but you can pick goat or feta cheese). The pizza has a very thin crust that walks the line between crispy and chewy to perfection. The tomato sauce is pretty tart, which I like. Finally, its BYOB and they don't charge an opening fee. And there's a big fridge full of chilled glasses that you can use. And the other half of the barn is Fiddlehead Brewery. And the 32oz growler fills are $6. And why are you not here yet? read more

I love a fired pizza with thin and crispy crusts. and you can request less burn on the crust if you aren't in to that taste so much, The oven is hot, 900 degrees we were told, so we wondered why it took 25 mins to get it? We did enjoy a couple of beer samples while we waited which helped. Fiddlehead brewery is in the same building. The inside is neat and would be a great place to display local art. read more

If you like very thin crust that is both crispy and chewy, paired with fresh ingreedients as well as a really fantastic house salad, this is as good as it gets! I don't get meat on my pizza but ordering a pie with almost all of the $1 veggie toppings is definitely my favorite pizza of all time. I personally do like the little burned black bits on the crust - that's how this style of pizza is intended to be made - but if you don't like it you can order it "blonde". The restaurant is in a cool room too and shares a building with Fiddlehead brewery. Be aware it gets extremely crowded; I never go during real lunch or dinner hours. Plus the way the seating is you may actually be sharing a table and bench with strangers. read more

Wow. Possibly the best sausage pizza we have ever had. The vibe with the brewery right next door is great. Really digged the industrial barn type decor as well. We stopped in for lunch, ordered our pizza, grabbed a 32 oz IPA growler next door for $9 (got the $3 deposit back afterwards), and relaxed and waited for our pizza. We ordered a large sausage for the two of us and thought we may have gotten a bit carried away when looking at the size of larges for others but ended up eating the whole thing it was so darn good. The sausage was outrageously good. I commented to the head dude who I assume may have been the owner how good it was and he commented they made it themselves. I write this review after getting take out a few times and finally today going in and sitting down. We called to ask to place an order before getting there, the girl on the phone said sure what would you like. She said twenty minutes, and we headed there. When we got there we were met by a dismissive "hostess" who said we had a forty plus minute wait, and that they don't take orders over the phone for dining in. I paid 56 dollars for two pizzas and a family salad. We asked for it to go unless a table opened up. Waited for a half hour, and a table opened up. So we were able to take our (cold) pizza to the closest table, get everything set up for ourselves sit down and - not only was our pizza extra burnt but there was a literal hole in one of them. I get if you have a fire oven but burnt into pieces? When I brought this up to someone behind the counter his first statement was "Oh yeah, the margherita pizza." Not only did he know the pizza was burnt but it was also a large enough hole burnt into it for him to remember. He offered to make another one and I said yes. Then he came up just before he started to clean up with two dollars that apparently are the "to-go salad charges". Poss poor customer service, no idea about the two dollar to-go salad charge, and we have zero intention of going back. read more
