Are they still in business? I have been taking my car here for years with no complaints. However on Christmas, my car started overheating, most likely radiator issue. I was able to make an online appointment for 12/26 on their site. So I had AAA tow it to their lot, left keys in dropbox and have not heard a word and it's now 12/27. I have called with no success. If they are out of business, any ideas on how I can get my key out of the dropbox to have it towed to another shop? read more

I have taken my 2016 Mazda for servicing and repairs for the past 3 years. They inspect my car, make recommendations, and only do the service I authorize. I never feel pressured or feel they are trying to get me to do more than what needs to be done. They perform the work in a timely manner and send reminders for reg maintenance. Oil change was unable to be accommodated by the new location Mgr, Tom. We always take our vehicles there and were always accommodated by Sarah or the other lady in the back office. However, this was not the case. It may take 2 hours to do oil change but explaining the concern of limited time due to job restrictions for govt agency is usually accommodated but not this time. Its unfortunate they are willing to lose a customer. I will take my two vehicles to different location. read more

If you want to be SCAMMED, go to this place. They showed me a fake sample of transmission fluid that was black and tried to tell me I needed to get my transmission flushed. Little did they know, I had just gotten it flushed and when I checked my own transmission fluid, it was the perfect color red. Next, they told me I needed a new gas cap and charged me $140. Later I found out that all I needed to do was screw on my gas cap tighter. Lastly, they told me I had a HUGE oil leak and to not take it back to my mechanic back home. I looked. No oil leak. In fact, the fluid on the floor they tried to show me was water from the AC. Never go to this place. read more

Buyer beware! This place is a con job. They lied to me from the very beginning and kept doubling down every time they got caught. They installed shocks rated for 2,500 lbs for my 5,800 lbs vehicle. When I brought my car back with blown out shocks by week 3, Tom Craighead (the manager) replaced the blown shocks with THE SAME 2,500 lbs rated shocks and insisted it was "running great". Additionally, at the time of pickup, I immediately noticed they had crushed the pinch welds on both sides of my car and compromised the door rocker on the passenger side by lifting the car incorrectly. At first, Craighead admitted to his fault and told me to get an estimate. When I got the estimate, he refused liability. I had to file an insurance claim to fix it, to which they were found TOTALLY LIABLE! I still had to pay my deductible. At that time, I contacted the owner, Joe Brazil at the Sacramento Automotive Specialists who told me to bring my Cadillac to his Sac store. They confirmed the shocks were in fact WRONG and then tried bartering with me for more money (extra $1000) to fix it. When I left Sac specialty, the car immediately pulled right. I drove it straight to Clark Frame in Roseville where they informed me of a horror show. Part of the initial service at Folsom Automotive was to "tighten an oil pan bolt that bordered the transmission to fix a leak. They charged me $1,800 to drop the transmission so they could access and tighten ONE BOLT. Come to find out, it wasn't an oil pan bolt at all. It was an exhaust hanger bolt. When Clark Frame had the car up on A PROPER DRIVE ON JACK, they immediately saw loose bolts that Craighead and company claimed to fix. I then drove straight to Reliable Cadillac in Roseville who advised me "you have been cheated. This is blatant fraud. I would contact the BAR. That is not a oil pan bolt at all. It goes through the pan." After that revelation, Reliable Cadillac was able to tighten all the bolts that were left loose with a socket wrench, 10 minutes, and $300 including initial diagnostic check ($180) an never touched the transmission at all. After this debacle, I contacted the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and filed a claim to which even the state concurs was "improper business practices". Joe Brazil still refused to pay so I was forced to file a small court case. These people are not good people. read more

Swindlers & Sara morning s nothing short of con artists. I changed the oil myself in a 2010 Honda Accord 4 months ago. There has been some miles out in the car. I re checked the pile last week & it was a little low but clean as a whistle. My girlfriend brings her car in & they have it listed in the red as critical & needs to be addressed immediately. I call to discuss this & she's nothing but rude, evasive & finally tells me she won't discuss this with me, only my girlfriend. Places like this prey on the unknowledgeable & scare them into having work done when it's unnecessary. I also told her that I'm going to report them to the BAR & her response is "Go ahead, they won't do anything." WOW!! They included a pic, of a sticker, from an oil change that was done ages ago instead of the oil. But they placed this in the red as critical. read more

This shop charged me too much by itemizing the diagnostic check ($150) each of the problems I told them (stated). Job quality is OK.

I highly recommend this auto repair shop. They are refreshingly professional and thorough. Sara communicates both verbally and in writing with pictures showing the issues that are a problem or are a concern with the vehicle. I will continue to take my vehicles to this shop. read more

Had my RAV4 diagnosed and reviewed to see what was causing check engine light to turn on. Was able to set up appointment within a couple of days and turnaround time was within a day to hear back as to what was causing issues. Cannot say enough great things about Folsom Automotive Service! Justin and his team were polite, listened to what issues I was having with my Honda Fit (needed a high-mileage oil change and my brakes were "spongy"), and the service rendered was impeccable. They didn't try to up sell me on anything, but instead talked me through why spongy brakes happen and the importance of getting your brake fluids flushed, which I ended up deciding to do. (Side note: WOW - makes all the difference and now my brakes are sensitive to the touch, which is how they should be!) They even tightened up my e-brake because it was so loose! Service was to the highest caliber. I will definitely be going back and have already referred my friends to them. So awesome to support local! read more

Since I moved to Folsom I've been going to Folsom Auto on Bidwell near old town. They always did great work at fair prices. I needed a repair to my car so naturally I called them. Unfortunately it seems the old owners sold the business last year. I found this out a little too late. The new guys tried to charge me over $600 for a repair that 3 other shops quoted around $300 for. On top of that, their "inspection" that they charged my $125 for said my AC charge was fine. Turns out it was overcharged and putting stress on the system. I wound up going to Folsom Car Care and they fixed it in a couple hours for $285, including adjusting the AC pressure problem. Too bad my once favorite repair place has turned into this. Too many car repair places trying to rip people off these days. read more
