Takigi in his prime - a real specimen of a cat!
    VanNessa H.

I hardly know where to begin writing this review. Anything I say feels like too little, not meaningful enough for our experience with Dr. Jeni. Takigi, our oldest cat (15 years and we had him since he was 4 weeks old), the first cat my husband ever had as an adult, the cat who was the OG in our house and taught our other 10 cats throughout the years how to cat (as well as hundreds of foster kittens) was struck with a sudden, aggressive cancer in his face, brain, and lymph nodes. It all happened within 2 weeks. This is the kind of situation that we, as pet parents, dread...the moment you realize there's nothing you can do but show mercy and love through compassionate life-ending relief. Here we were last Thursday, trying to make the hardest decision of our babies life. We randomly (although I believe it was kismet/fate) called Dr. Jeni first. The person who answered her phone was kind, caring, and gentle. She asked us a lot of questions and made sure we knew the process. Thankfully, Dr. Jeni had an appointment the next day. There's this feeling that I sometimes get, as if I've known someone before. This is how I felt about Dr. Jeni when she arrived to our house the next day. A doctor who is willing to do the hardest parts of veterinary medicine, with so much grace and even a few laughs. You instantly know that this is truly her calling - and it's very, very special. Dr. Jeni spent time with us explaining the process, meeting our other 8 animals, hearing our stories of Takigi and his kingly place in our home and hearts, and she never rushed or pressured us. When the time came, I am 100% sure that Takigi's last memory was one of immense love and happiness, a cat life totally well lived. It was beautiful. After we had said our goodbyes and allowed our other cats to also say goodbye, Jeni put Takigi in a basket, wrapped him in a blanket, and put flowers from our rose bushes to adorn his head. It was the most precious thing I've ever seen and the care she took to tuck him in will, honestly, stick with me for the rest of my life. It seems like such a small thing, but it was so kind and honoring of our king. Dr. Jeni let Takigi ride "shotgun" on the way to his final destination. Another small detail that shows the kind of care and unwavering courage that Dr. Jeni possesses. Even after Takigi has passed, he still held a meaningful, special place. We opted for the group cremation, where his ashes will be spread in the ocean, and we will receive the exact location. Dr. Jeni also created a clay mold of Takigi's paw and had a custom-made name stamp...this is a priceless memento that I've never seen done before. (Usually it's the paper/ink paw print.) I don't know about you, but I have had many euthanasia experiences in vet offices, and this can not possibly even compare to them, in any way. There was no stress, no empty carrier to take home, no drive that felt like forever, as we pre- and post-mourned our family member's death. No rushing. No worry of displaying too much emotion. It was all about beauty, love, and compassion. I will NEVER go back to a vet's office for the end of life of any of my remaining 8 pet family members. I more than highly recommend Dr. Jeni. She is a true gem of a human. If I could give 10 stars, I would. When the time comes for you to say goodbye, call her. You will be so relieved that you did. P.S. Our vet, Tama Vet Hospital, mentioned Dr. Jeni today when we were there, and said "she is an invaluable resource to us." We now agree!

    Misty in her prime

My family had to euthanize our 17-year-old kitty-cat less than a week ago. We greatly appreciate Fond Farewell and Dr. Jeni for the knowledge and professionalism they brought in helping Misty pass peacefully from this world. It's one of the hardest things we have ever had to endure, so, having it done well was the most we could hope for. While the pain of loss has been devastating, I can't imagine how much worse it could have been if we waited any longer, or, if the euthanasia process hadn't gone as well as it did. I highly recommend Fond Farewell to other pet owners facing the difficult decision of euthanizing a pet. Their staff and Dr. Jeni were very supportive and accommodating before, during and after the process.

The end-to-end process from scheduling through the visit itself went as perfectly as can be. Dr. Jeni's passion shines through and she has the whole process down to a science. The experience felt more like a thoughtfully curated tour. Each step was explained in detail, and I never felt rushed. I'm very grateful that my 19 year old cat (Dinker) was able to experience a truly compassionate and dignified goodbye.

    Honey

On April 18, my family and I had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Honey. I was struggling deeply with the decision, unsure if I was truly doing the right thing by letting her go. In my uncertainty, I reached out to Fond Farewell for guidance. Someone from the team called me back--though I wish I remembered her name--and spoke to me with such kindness and compassion. She reassured me that Dr. Jeni would walk us through everything. For that, I am so grateful. From the moment Dr. Jeni arrived at our home, her presence brought a sense of calm. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine empathy were immediately evident. She took the time to thoroughly explain the process to both my mom and me, helping us understand that we were giving Honey the most loving and selfless gift we could. Dr. Jeni truly made Honey's final moments peaceful, gentle, and surrounded by love. I held Honey close as she took her last breath. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'm comforted knowing she was at home, on her favorite couch, wrapped in her favorite blanket, and surrounded by her family. Thank you, Dr. Jeni, for the grace and care you gave us. I will always be grateful to you and your team. Your compassion helped me find peace in one of the most painful moments of my life. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. Warmly, Katrina and Family

Hi. I'm sorry if you are going through the heartache of letting your beloved pet go, but since you're here, please consider Dr. Jeni and Fond Farewell for a peaceful and in-home goodbye. After much research, I chose Fond Farewell for Zeppelin. He never liked traveling and hated going to the vet, so I hated the idea of his last memories being scared and doing something he clearly hated. On the day, Dr. Jeni assured us of every step. She was incredibly patient and kind. Most importantly, I got to hold my little guy with all my love pouring over him as he took his last breaths in my arms. I am so incredibly grateful to Dr. Jeni and her service- but most importantly, her empathy and comfort.

If you are reading this it probably means you are trying to make a really hard decision about your beloved pet and for that my heart goes out to you. I knew when it was time to say goodby to our sweet Lula it would be in the comfort of our own home. I reached out to Dr. Jenni on the recommendation of our vet. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Jenni, she is kind and so compassionate. As Lula became blind and deaf later in life she was very apprehensive of strangers in our home, that wasn't the case with Dr. Jenni. There was a calmness in her that Lula felt for sure. As heartbreaking as it was to say goodbye to our sweet girl Dr. Jenni made it as easy as it could possibly be. I'm forever grateful.

My husband and I are so thankful for your kindness, professionalism, and reassurance during an incredibly hard time. You explained the entire process very clearly from the start and we appreciate the fact that you had us set the pace. Our 3-year-old cat Miso was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a little over 6 months ago and her health had started to rapidly decline. Going to the vet was always very stressful for her so we're glad you were able to give us a beautiful, stress-free last memory of her.

My family member and friend Ziggy.

My experience with Doctor Jeni was terrific. She showed up and displayed the highest degree of respect and care. I could not be more thankful for her and her team, who helped facilitate my fantastic companion Ziggy's transition to the next phase in her life. I am so grateful Ziggy had her last breaths at home, surrounded by those who love her. She could be at peace, not fearing a cold vet office. I am thankful for the help given to my family. It is a blessing like no other, even in moments as difficult as these. Thank you, Doctor, to everyone at the Fond Farewell team. Ziggy loves new friends, and I know she is in good care with you.

My sweet Tasha's passing was made pain and fear free by Dr Jeni. I am so grateful for this.

7 days ago I had to make the appointment for my sweet 14 year old German Shepherd, Tasha, to leave this world. I had previously sent two other appointments for her with Dr Jeni but each time, my dog rallied a bit several days beforehand so I did not want to hurry her along. Last Monday came and it was time. Dr Jeni arrived promptly after texting that she was on her way. Her office staff was very kind. I have previously held five of my fur babies as they passed, and several times were rather traumatic. Dr Jeni made my Tasha's transition peaceful and happy. Dr Jeni is super understanding and compassionate. I had not slept very much the night before, and was really having a hard time. Dr Jeni took her time introducing herself, chatting with me a bit about the process, explaining to me exactly what would happen. The most important thing is that my sweet doggo would not feel any fear or pain. That was essential to me and definitely what Dr Jeni provides. She also was very understanding when I needed to finish a piece of paperwork for a few minutes for my work because I knew I'd be unable to work after Tasha was gone. Dr Jeni guided the experience so my sweet Tasha had a wonderful last memory of eating cat kibble (one of her favorite treats) along with her brother and sister while laying in her favorite place in the world. While my Tasha was happily distracted by cat kibble, Dr Jenny subtly gave her the shot that my dog did not even feel which just put her to a nice deep sleep. Within one minute, after eating all of the cat kibble in front of her, my sweetheart was snoring happily. She was completely relaxed and at peace. I got to hold her and talk to her and tell her everything I needed to do, before I finally gave Dr Jeni the final nod. My sweet loving Shepherd took her last breath last Monday at 10:36 a.m. it was a really, peaceful and happy death, and Dr Jeni made that possible for my baby. Dr Jeni was also super kind and made a really nice paw print of my Tasha, and sent me a sweet condolence card afterwards. For going through the terrible experience of losing a beloved pet, Dr Jeni is an angel who helps make the experience less traumatic. Highly recommended. Thank you so much, Fond Farewell.

Dr. Arndt took the time to answer every question we had, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, and never rushed us. He made sure we were completely comfortable with the treatment plan and medication, but most importantly, he made my dog his #1 priority during our visit. The entire staff was kind, patient, and genuinely cared about helping my baby. The level of compassion means everything. Thank you for going above and beyond for my little Watson Baby Cake Nugget.

For some reason, they took the person's picture down Dr. Christina Wong who made the end of life of…read morefor My dog! horrible and for myself. Stay away from her if you don't wanna risk a bad experience because she doesn't care what she says to you and she didn't care about your dog she's just on a power trip I'll post your picture again it's always available on the site for Sage Campbell I will go to a different location I will never go back to Sage ER I would go to the radiation I would go to the neurology department. But don't let any receptionist to give you a hard time because at Campbell they do that sometime summer night so just be aware and if you've got a dog towards the end of life I would not come here in thousand years if I had known what a horrible person would do and how poorly she can handle an important situation. I feel horrible for My dog! still and the abuse was very obvious and I had I called I spoke to the owner of the stage hospitals and she agreed but I haven't heard back so I am gonna call her. My dog! deserved better than this. And your dog does too. I write this solely as my own experience and this is all allegedly of course. When someone behaves below what a veterinarian should behave like there is a standard for arm to be reliable and honest. Christina lied to my face after insulting me and that was just a red flag. It's important that your vet act like a team with you and the nurses. Being discriminated against as a horrible experience and I honestly don't even know why. If they check the records I'm a very attentive parent. I spoke to MVM and they said she's been there for a long time so she is protected so that sounds like a systematic issue to me. I was really disappointed I loved the other doctors the other departments Dr. Vitale Dr. Arcan Dr. cornerman the doctor that helped me in Redwood City just wonderful. It was just very unfortunate that I took Chloe to hear. She was a good dog and deserved a dignified death. This was anything but that. If your dog is old and sick you may want to take it to a different location Redwood City has been renovated and it's huge also MedVet is right next-door and I have never had an issue there either so this is just for others and you can go with what ever you like but I felt navigation to let you know my personal experience which I found astoundingly disturbing. When someone's lying and discouraging your dog I don't know how you defend them. I have always had dogs and I've seen a lot of vets and most of them would be horrified f their staff discriminated and was abusive and actually seemed to discriminate against me and was too aggressive for My dog!. My dog! was super smart and could understand what people were saying the poor thing tries to stand up and she yells oh you think that's good you know what if she had not said anything we may have gotten that dog to stand up. I don't know what's wrong with people but as a vet you should be held to a higher standard and most of my vets like I said would be horrified if it happened in their practice. Also I don't like liars I'm like a lie detector and she did say that My dog! look like it was dead and when I said that was a nice she said well we all think so and after that she proceeded to tell me that she didn't say that that she said something medical. That's called a lie. You shouldn't lie because you always get caught nice her attitude was so bad I really regret leaving My dog! with her. I needed a calm experienced person that to help My dog! not this craziness. It's inexcusable and it has to be called out and corrected. People shouldn't go through that especially with the price that they're paying. Sage seems to lack empathy in the ER department they've hung up on me they have basically been the weirdest unit I have ever dealt with being closed one night and yelling at me that they had lots of sick dogs. I don't think they handle stress well or have the equipment they need or whatever that's why I was recommending I would city or MedVet because both are calm cool and collected and the priority is the patient and not only treating them but treating them like a real living Creature who can hear what you say who knows when you're giving her mother a hard time even if she is sick. It really disgust me personally allegedly this happened this is my experience and really it just felt like a throat punch https://share.google/kfq27rF9shkOUKjvq

I wanted to shoutout the staffer who helped us, Kass, who was very friendly, responsive and respectful and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. There are some options when a pet passes. We scheduled our vet to help us with in-home euthanasia, and we made plans to bring our dog to Golden State. They had a room available to us to say goodbye, we even brought our other dog with us to say goodbye. The have a variety of package options (custom urns, etc.), we had our own plans in mind but Kass was not too pushy in trying to upsell options. When you dropoff a pet for cremation, they say they will turn that around in 7-10 business days, I think they did it in 6. It feels a little weird to review a pet crematorium, but we have another dog at the moment, and we'd consider using Golden State again.

That said, I just wanted to say thank you to Shane again for his true patience, professionalism, kindness and understanding throughout the whole process. A friend recommended me to Shane and Golden State Pet Crematorium after she lost her fur baby. When the time came after Indy; my dog, passed away, I contacted them the next day. They said that we could come in asap and that there was no wait period, which I appreciated. On top of that, he empathized and was patient with me when I sobbed on the phone because it happened so soon. Which I truly appreciated since it proved to me that Shane is a real one. To wrap up, their prices are extremely fair, the options are gorgeous as seen in the pics I included, and the turn around time to complete the cremation was finished in a week. I would highly recommend Shane to anyone who is looking for a crematorium for their recently deceased fur baby. 10/10 easy for this spot.

I received a response offering an exam appointment (which I expected), along with the soonest available opening, but no information about pricing -- not even the cost of the exam itself. I replied asking for both the exam fee and availability. They responded by booking an appointment date and time, again without answering my question about pricing. I had to follow up a third time explaining that I needed to know the cost before confirming, and I was finally told the exam would be $60, which seemed reasonable. Since it was actually my brother's dog, I sent him to the appointment. After the visit, he was quoted $1,600-$2,000 for treatment, which was unfortunately out of his budget. While that happens and isn't necessarily the issue, I was disappointed to find out he had been charged $80 for the exam instead of the $60 I was originally told. When I reached out via text, they explained they "forgot" to apply the new client discount -- something that had never been mentioned to me beforehand. They offered either a refund or to apply the difference toward future services. Since we had already found another clinic that could do the same services for around $1,200, I asked for the $20 refund back to the card. After that, I never heard back. No confirmation of the refund, no apology for the overcharge, nothing. I understand veterinary care is expensive, and it's not their fault my brother is a broke college student. But basic customer service and communication go a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be returning or recommending this office.
