The ambiance and architecture are phenomenal. The staff is quick to please and accommodate any special requests. We started with soup and salads. The Caesar and barbabietola salads were excellent, we should have requested boquerones for the Ceasar but still very good. Others at the table had the minestrone and loved it. The Pappardelle Bolognese was perfect. The short rib rossotto was as well. The filet was cooked to order, the salmon plate was great, the yellowfin was perfect as well. We were a little disappointed in the wine menu since this food deserved a nice bold California Cab and there were few on the list at best. Overall our special occasion went well. During two separate stays at The Biltmore, we ate here for two dinners and one breakfast. All the food and drinks are amazing. The service is the reason I gave three stars. During our first visit we wanted a simple breakfast before heading to our cruise. We asked the hostess, as we were walking to our table, if we could place our order quickly. She said our waiter would be right over. We waited and waited while tables around us were getting food and drinks delivered, checks being delivered, and tables being cleaned. I let the hostess know we hadn't had our order taken yet - not even for coffee. She said someone would be over. We left after waiting at least 15 minutes with no one even bringing water or anything. During our next visit we realized they also have a breakfast buffet inside the restaurant (we were sitting in the courtyard previously). This is no a big restaurant and they charge an automatic gratuity. Both dinner services we had were slow, but reasonable for this type of restaurant. Our waitress remembered us from the first dinner at least one month prior. The second time we stayed we ordered the breakfast buffet (not the Sunday version). They do made to order eggs and omelettes. The food was just ok and not what you'd expect for the price plus gratuity. This is a high end hotel, so I expect better service. I think they restrict guests to those staying at the hotel and members of the golf course. Maybe service is bad because they have a somewhat captive audience. There are restaurants nearby, but not close enough to walk. My favorite was the octopus, but the tuna tartare and sea bass are highly recommended. If we stayed here again, I would go back. If you use Amex travel and book with your platinum card, you get $100 resort credit plus money toward breakfast ($35 I think). read more

This Italian restaurant is on the lower or ground level of the Biltmore Hotel.  Calm ambience, indoor and out seating. The courtyard is enchanting, an oasis; but was closed when we got there due to rain. It opened by the time we left. We've - Polpo octopus - Lamb chop - Angolotti - Two house reds I like Chianti more than Biltmore red.  Skinny Zwiesel wine glasses, the hotel uses Chef & Sommelier in our room. They put the Barbera extra virgin olive oil and Modena balsamic first, but also asked if we'd like butter. The assorted breads are good. Octopus is excellent: tender, yummy and I love the potato foam. Hot lamb cooked medium, also tender and yummy. The ravioli is delicious too, on the salty side. read more

Came to Fontana for a celebration dinner. Located inside the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables this restaurant is beautiful. We sat outside in the courtyard which was covered but depending on where you are sitting and the time of day you might get hit with the sun right on you. So be prepared. Service was a little chaotic although friendly. Food took a while to come out. Some of the food temperatures were off. And the orders were a bit mixed up. Outside of that the food was very good. We tried the Burrata and the Tuna Tartare. Both were good but I think the Tuna Tartare was the favorite. I could've eaten two of those by myself. Tuna was seasoned perfectly and very fresh. For mains, we had the Yellowtail Snapper Picata and the Short Rib Risotto. The Short Rib was super tender and seasoned perfectly. The risotto was ok and definitely benefited from the Short Rib. As for the Yellowtail everything was amazing. The polenta was on point. Only thing was that we found some bones. But nothing we couldn't overlook. For dessert we had the the tiramisu, a coffee ice cream and a Rum Baba . The coffee ice cream was delicious as was the tiramisu. But unfortunately the Rum Baba was so alcohol heavy that it was inedible. Overall the meal had some highs and lows but as always the company makes everything better. I would still recommend Fontana Restaurant but use Yelp to better guide you and your meal decisions. read more

Very attentive service. Amazing ambiance if you're sitting in the beautiful outdoor courtyard by the fountain - you're transported to another time and era. I went here for a special birthday lunch and it happened to be during Miami Spice, so we did order from the Miami Spice menu. As an appetizer, I had the bruschetta, which was heavenly. Super fresh and such delicious flavors in the sauce. For my main, I ordered the crab on couscous - this dish was just ok, it didn't wow me, but I did enjoy the micro mini tomatoes (?) that were a garnish - I've never seen or eaten those before. I did like much better (and I wished I had ordered instead) the chicken Milanese that my mom ordered. Just felt it needed a lot more salt. For dessert, I enjoyed my chocolate ice cream and had a taste of my mom's tiramisu, both were good. One disappointing thing was that I had indicated on my reservation that I was celebrating my birthday and though the hostess wished me a happy birthday, that info was not shared with the server to put a candle or something on my dessert. After lunch, we explored the hotel for a bit and it's a really beautiful building and has great architecture. All in all a lovely lunch. Food Excellent choices, professional chef prepared and presented. My salmon dish was grilled to perfection, so were the veggies and the sauce. The shared appetizer prosciutto ham was top line honey sprinkled, with panna cotta cheese infused slide. We were offered indoor seating but I chose the outdoor courtyard experience in the heart of the Biltmore Hotel early afternoon, partial shade & umbrellas surrounding the large central fountain on a cool winter mid-day made it spectacular. American Standards from 1920's to '50s were playing in the background adding a special connection to the history behind the Spanish Revival architectural setting. We came to celebrate a milestone birthday, and from the first moment, the restaurant rose to the occasion. From the elegant atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious and vast variety of food ranging from breakfast staples of bacons and eggs to the more luxurious world of lobster, oysters, and caviar. Beautiful dinner spot, we had 2 apps, 4 entrees and 1 drink, total was $315 before tip, making this probably one of the pricier Miami dinner options. The food is good but does not justify the price compared to other places in Miami. My parents were staying at the attached Biltmore so it was a fun outing but we probably won't be back. Definitely worth the try if you are in town or here for a conference. I have to say, the bread they bring out is really amazing! Service was a bit lacking and slow, we had to beg for more water several times and it took about 30 minutes to get our bill. I have to say, no place that I have gone to eat dinner can rival the Fontana for ambiance. Located in the historic Biltmore Hotel, this place is flat out gorgeous. I thought I was on Mount Olympus. This is truly where the rich and those who want to look rich go to eat. I enjoy the artisan breads they offered, and they were always on top of the drinks. Appetizers? Kind of skimpy for the price. Prosciutto was good...but not enough for the cost. Make sure you take out a personal loan before you come here. The entrees? Outstanding. My wife ordered fish, and I got lasagna. I asked about portion size, and they did not lie. Not exactly a generous portion. The taste, though? Primo. You won't be disappointed with the quality. I had an incredible experience here at the Fontana restaurant at the Biltmore hotel. They offer valet service for $25 and have a cool online application you can use to call your car and pay ahead of time before you even leave the table. The restaurant interior was going through a bit of painting and other renovation work when I visited but it was still immaculate inside and very clean. The restroom was absolutely gorgeous and compared to that of Sexyfish's downtown (I'm a bit restroom snob!) The food was delicious and despite certain portion sizes leaving me asking for more, the quality of the meat and vegetables from a few of the dishes I tried were delectable. My server was Edwin and he was brilliant. He was extremely knowledgeable of the martini ingredients and food items on the menu. I ordered the corn margarita with pleasantly surprised and I praise his recommendation. His service was on point and certainly deserves a shout out as well as the chef. I would definitely return for a special occasion or for just another fancy dinner out in Coral Gables. read more

2/5 -- Fontana Restaurant at the Biltmore Hotel We recently had dinner at Fontana at the Biltmore, and unfortunately the experience didn't match the reputation or the historic prestige of the hotel. Food: The meal was very inconsistent. The veal ravioli and fettuccine Alfredo were both undercooked and lacked flavor. The squid ink pasta with lobster was just okay. On the bright side, the salmon was good and the lamb chops were excellent easily the best dish of the night. The biggest issue was the Fish which was supposed to be deboned. My grandmother, who is over 90, found several bones in hers. That was really disappointing and concerning. The truffle mashed potatoes that came with it also missed the mark. Service: Service was actually the opposite of inattentive -- it was overly attentive to the point of feeling smothered. Staff hovered so much that it became uncomfortable, rather than polished or seamless. Fees & Pricing: Prices themselves were fine, but the fees were confusing. There's a mandatory service charge, a 10% restaurant tax (even though Miami's tax is 7%), and then an extra tax on the service fee. When we asked management to explain it, the only response was, "It's a property-wide fee." Not very helpful. Ambience: The place was clean and we didn't have to wait long, which was appreciated. But the atmosphere wasn't what you'd expect from the Biltmore. The indoor dining area was very brightly lit, taking away from any sense of intimacy or upscale feel. Honestly, the water ended up being the best part of the visit. Overall: Fontana has potential because of its location, but the experience didn't live up to the Biltmore name. Between the uneven food, the uncomfortable service style, the unclear fees, and the lackluster ambience, it just wasn't the premium experience we expected. read more

I can't complain. We had a show at Gables Stage and made reservations at Fontana for a quick meal prior to the show. We arrived right before our reservation, were quickly seated and told our server we had a show and 45 minutes to make it happen. Service was awesome. He was efficient, he was friendly and he even came with suggestions. I ordered the special which was a cacio e pepe and my friend ordered one of the vegetarian pastas. Both were amazing. This is our favorite place in the Gables, Old world classic Biltmore hotel. Our waiter Edwin provided us with superb service. We started with flute bread with Italian virgin oil. Delicious. Sunday brunch at the Biltmore Miami was great; as they are famous for their champagne brunch with king crabs. Even in Las Vegas, they no longer have buffets with king crabs; at both Wynn and Caesar's Buffets due to cost issue. (Spoke to Bacchanal buffet in May 2023). So offering king crab is a huge deal. They have jumbo shrimp, oysters, caviars (3 different kinds) various meat stations, small sushi area, pasta area, breakfast area, dessert area + champagne to go with their buffet. There are plenty to eat, and not enough stomach to eat all. Our group was 4 ppl, we had a nice time over mostly seafood focused brunch. Staff was friendly, not too crowded either. We dined in the outdoor patio next to fountain, which was nice. They also had live music. I would recommend this brunch to celebrate a special day. It's a nice ambiance and food selection for the price. As for the price: $120 pp + tax + 20% gratuity added in, will set you back $625+. We did a one night staycation at the Biltmore and decided to eat here for the convenience of it being at the hotel, and the courtyard seating. I made a reservation when we booked our room, about a week out. Right before we checked in I stopped by the host stand to request the patio to which they were able to accommodate. I was honestly a bit nervous after seeing the reviews, but we had a great time, wonderful service, good drinks and good food. The courtyard seating by the fountain is awesome. Karen was our waitress and she was great. Other employees came by often to fill waters, take plates and bring more bread. 5 stars on our service. The meatball appetizer was delicious, the spinach risotto was fantastic. I thought the carbonara was good. Our drinks were also made well. Service tip is included in the bill, along with a restaurant tax. Maybe I just don't go to Miami often enough but I'm not even sure what that is. Our tax for that was an additional 15$. All in all, we had a great time at dinner, and it exceeded my expectations. My 5 stars is more of a 4.5, but I felt it deserved being rounded up. read more

5 stars for ambience, food, and service! My husband made reservations here for our weekly date night and we were both pleasantly impressed. While having been to the Biltmore before, we never dined here, and appreciated the hostess' recommendation to dine outside. The weather was lovely around 7 pm with a light breeze and it was still light out until almost 9pm. The waiting staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and my husband the wagyu meatballs and pasta, and we loved it. The bread service was also nice with 3 different kinds of bread available. I visited your restaurant for Miami Spice today and unfortunately had an issue I feel is important to share. While eating, I found a piece of plastic in my food. I immediately informed my server and explained that I had stopped eating because of it. This is a spectacular location set in the courtyard of the majestic historic Biltmore Hotel! I went on a date here and it was so romantic talking for hours in the open air underneath the stars and next to the fountain. The food started out great, we shared a meatball appetizer, and we both commented on how delicious it was. For our main course, I got the branzino and he got the sea bass. Unfortunately, mine was okay but not great. There was something missing in the flavor or maybe I just didn't like it that much. Even though we both ate it, neither of us commented on our main dish, so it's possible he was not thrilled with his dish either. I would say service was good but not excellent. They knew we were on a date, so I'm sure they didn't want to bother us every 5 minutes, but at the end of the night, I don't think they had come by our table in like 20 minutes and it took a really long time to get the check. That said, I'd definitely love to come here again on a night when there's good weather to appreciate the beautiful open air courtyard and fountain, and try a signature pasta dish or risotto. read more

Fontana is located inside The gorgeous and historical Biltmore Hotel! You can dine indoors or outdoors, we decided to enjoy having dinner outside since our table had two fans facing it! Lol! The view was pretty with the water fountain being lit up at night! You can enjoy some of the architectural design in a different light. The food was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and dishes were very tasty! Prices are great not too pricey! The service was amazing! Very friendly staff, accommodated our every need. Our server passed by several times to check in with us. I would definitely recommend Fontana and will be back to try out some of the other dishes. Can't give zero stars but Fontana absolutely ruined our Thanksgiving (and the day after) by providing the award winning WORST Thanksgiving dinner of all time--and possibly worst meal of all time. They promised a traditional Thanksgiving feast at a steep pre-fixe price and gave us a basic thin-sliced beet plate, disgusting gnocchi with some meat and gravy that was repulsive, and an absolutely NASTY roulade of rubbery turkey on a plate of some fishy tasting puree. Even the fraudulent pumpkin something dessert was inedible. One of my teenagers got up and walked away from the table, and one outright cried. I barely ate a bite, and that was sadly enough to make me sick all the next day. The singular saving grace was the manager (the sommelier) who brought my kids pasta, chicken, and fries--after a waiter said nothing else could be provided as a substitute. Clearly, we will never be back. Thanks for ruining our holiday, Fontana. read more

Miami Spice Experience: definitely worth it! Good portion meals and absolutely delicious! I came for the Miami spice dinner with two friends during the week and we had the best time. It is a very spacious place, the music is not loud, service is excellent. I would also come here with my family or on a date. On Miami Spice you get 1 appetizer, 1 main and 1 dessert. I ordered the Burratina con Prosciutto e Pomodori and it was delicious, very fresh and a great way to start dinner. It looks big but it ended up being the perfect size. For the main I ordered the Filleto do Manzo allá Gorgonzola (which in the regular menu is $55, so $60 for the whole dinner is a great deal). It is a big portion of steak and it has such a good flavor to it, I definitely recommend ordering it! Finally for dessert I had tiramisu and sadly I was so full I couldn't finish it because it was so creamy and flavory. I recommend Fontana because is a classic restaurant located in the Biltmore Hotel and this is a classic gem! Parking: plenty of spots at the Hotel and valet. Prices: average and they go accordingly with the place. Place: elegant, cozy, romantic. Good for a date and family parties. I have eaten in Fontana several times and I enjoyed the food and service much more a few years ago than nowadays. I'm not saying with this that the service is bad, it's something about the atmosphere. I felt that in the past years the restaurant in general was more "italian" than nowadays.
