I've been wanting to come here for a few trips since this place opened, finally pulled the trigger (I typically get Aloha Smoothie Bowl literally every single day of my week vacations each year). I got the pork belly bao, the pineapple shrimp bao and the chicken bao. All were very fresh and served hot -- the outdoor seating is nice too if you want to dry off from the beach a little bit and enjoy the sun while eating. It's really unique to see bao on a boardwalk, but it works and would definitely come back. read more

This is nice spot to get some a good size snack near the beach. They specialize in Asian buns that are about the size of an adult palm. I got two buns with pork and one with duck. I loved the two buns I got, they had some delicious authentic savory flavor. The food was cooked to perfection. It had a great balance of sauce, protein, and pickled veggies. I can recommend the buns no problem. The portions are good as a snack between meals, I wouldn't recommend trying to make this a proper meal. The pricing for the three buns is not bad. If you asked me 2 years ago if the price was too high I would've said yes. But now living in a world of $8 hot dogs, I would say $15 for 3 buns isn't too bad. It's a little high purchasing them individually (like if you wanted to try 2 different ones). So just commit to one flavor or bring a friend who will try a different one than you. I do need to bring up a very bad point though. The classic bubble tea I ordered was disgusting. Bubble tea is supposed to be sweet and refreshing. What I got was bitter and pungent. There was clearly not a single sweetener used, and I suspect whatever tea was used as a base was incorrect as well. The staff needs to be trained on how to make a proper bubble tea. Have them taste one from Cape May Pho & Bubble Tea in Court House or one from Icy Boba in Wildwood. They need to know what this is supposed to taste like. I took a few sips of the drink before abandoning it altogether. Bubble tea aside, I can recommend coming here if you wanted something different. I never written a bad review before so this will be my first! (to my boyfriends request) here's the issues he told me he has with the food: - not really bao buns, more like bao taco - price to amount of food ratio was "outrageous" in his words (16$) - wait time was around 25 minutes even though no one was there The food was destroyed when he got it also, completely fell apart, and they stuck to the cardboard, so half of the food had cardboard in it. I noticed the workers were kind, this place has potential since there aren't many Asian restaurants in cape may! What a lovely addition to Cape May. It's hard to walk by here without feeling enticed to come in because of their bright interior with tastefully appointed colored chairs and bowls. The menu is more expansive than I would have expected (the usuals like shrimp, chicken, tofu but also pork, salmon and duck), and they have bao buns or bowls. They serve pickled veggies with both, and I absolutely adore the little grilled cucumber; it's such a nice touch. The tofu curry was excellent and a great portion size. The owners Amy and Lou are welcoming and really know the locals and have a knack for remembering names. Despite the hype, it didn't live up to anything spectacular. On the onset, the service was rude. The cashier literally couldn't answer a single question without attitude. She got my order wrong and then blamed me when she failed to clarify, insinuating it was my fault. Perhaps it was, but likely it was both of us, however, the way she responded was poor customer service. Not a single asian person in sight, what an ominous sign. The papaya salad was absolutely disgusting. It lacked the tang and zing that a papaya salad should have and was a complete disgrace. The baos were better but still not as great as one would expect for the price that they charge. These prices were the same as they are in a big city and the ingredients did not taste fresh, the actual bao itself was breaking down and they skimped on the meat. I would not return. read more

Cute little restaurant located on Ocean Ave in the line of shops beside the beach, adjacent Convention Hall. Great little place for bao buns and bowls. We had a variety of the bao buns - the chicken, the duck (loved it), the short rib, and the bbq. All were delicious, flavorful, and unique. They also offer a variety of Asian inspired beverages - also quite good. The cost versus quantity was a little high, but didn't diminish our dining enjoyment. Good lunch stop as leaving a deserted Cape May on Sunday, December 3. Empty store, so our orders of Pinapple aoli shrimp bowl and braised pork belly were served up quickly. We enjoyed our take-out dinner from this new establishment in Cape May, but there is a good sized and nice indoor seating area as well as a small outdoor side seating area. We each ordered three buns. Each of us had one with short ribs and one with lobster. One of us tried the duck and the other one had pulled pork. The short ribs bun turned out to be the favorite one! Extra yummy! This take-out dinner was a nice change of pace. It was a light dinner with a good amount of flavor. Stopped by for a snack last night, ended up having a full dinner! Everything was delicious and house made with fresh ingredients. We started with the short rib bao, an explosion of Asian flavors and contrasting textures provided by the soft bun and crunchy vegetables and fried shallots. We decided to order the yellow curry tofu with vegetables, which was equally flavorful. The coconut "pudding" was a nice ending to the meal, a riff on the traditional Thai dessert. The guy who took our order was warm and welcoming, and his recommendation of the basil limeade as a not too sweet drink was spot on. A great little spot right by the beach whether you're hungry for a snack or a meal. They offer delicious boa buns that are my go-to whenever I stop by Cape May. My personal favorite are the Sesame-Chili Chicken boa buns. They offer their boa buns as single buns or 3 buns which make it perfect for trying their different flavors and even trading them with whoever you are dining with. The Lychee Soda pairs great with the food, providing the sweetness to match the salty/savory flavors. This restaurant is OPEN! Food was superb, not just because you're up against chicken fingers, fries, lobster rolls, and pancakes in the beach zone, but on its own it is excellent. The ingredients were quality, from the salmon, to the short rib, and chicken bao, and all of the sides and mango sticky rice were fresh as could be, presented well, and flavored well. Service was very attentive for a fast-casual concept and you could see that the chef-owner has instilled passion in the craft to the entire staff. Our party of 8 including two kids were raving.
