Writing my review from the parking lot as I just couldn't wait. If you need a spot for a quick drink and dinner, this is the place. I'll admit I was skeptical upon seeing the building from the outside, and how tightly packed the ~25 customers were inside, but was throughly pleased with the experience. I got the "chili glazed fish of the day" entree, a meal I wish I took a picture of. Flavorful mahi mahi over rice with a delicious tangy sauce and just the right amount of heat. Accompanied with a basket of piping hot waffle fries. Food was ready within minutes and the service was spectacular. Only in OBX for a week but will be back. read more

Went here for dinner with the baby (2 years old) and the hubby. The wait staff was amazing- attentive, and thoughtful. Hubby and I both wanted to try the crab cake sandwich, but they were out at 6 pm. We had to revisit the menu when we learned they were out of crab cakes- but the sweet waitress put the order for the our toddler daughter's grilled cheese right away. It came out with our soup and kept the baby busy and happy- hooray! Hubby and I each started with a cup of the soup d'jour- tomato and clam bisque. Yum! I wish I had ordered the bowl and made a meal of it. It was rich and flavorful- pieces of tomato and clam in a savory, creamy broth. It may have been the best soup I've ever eaten in my life. If this were a review of only that soup, I would rate the experience at 5 stars, 4 thumbs up, and one goofy happy dance. However, the entrees brought the review down a star. I ended up ordering a salad with salmon, and the hubby got a blackened fish sandwich. We both had only one thing to say- no flavor! The salad dressing and greens and pineapple salsa on my salad were yummy- but the fish itself was way under seasoned. Hubby added salt and an extra serving of tartar sauce to his sandwich before it was edible. I powered through my salmon with the help of the salad dressing and a bit of salt. The baby seemed to enjoy her meal- grilled cheese from the kids' menu and the saltine crackers that came with my soup. However, there was no diaper changing station in the bathroom, which meant I needed to have my toddler lie down in the floor for a diaper change before we left. Yuck. That's the reason for the second lost star. I'd go again, but only for the soup. read more

THE MAC AND CHEESE IS OFF THE HOOK. It has Gouda, their mac and cheese sauce and covered in cheese nips. We had the crab cake sandwich and steak sandwich, they were both delicious. The crab cake was big! The sandwiches came with tortilla chips, fresh made pico de gallo and House made tartar sauce. My daughter opted for waffle fries for an extra $1. My mom and I had an excellent lunch there today. You wouldn't expect such a find from the outside, because it's in a nondescript small strip mall, but the inside had a cozy, cool vibe. Our wait staff were very attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious! I got the fajita grilled mahi mahi wrap and my mom got the veggie quesadilla. Both were delicious, and the quesadilla was stuffed with tasty grilled veggies. Best of all, I felt like they had healthier options, which can be harder to find around here. Service 5/5 The moment we walked in, my husband, mother, & I were quickly seated given the option of either booth seats or a table by the front door, we chose the table. The kind waitress immediately asked if we wanted any beverages and after we asked for waters it seriously only felt like 3 minutes had gone by and she had full cups for us. It was nice to be able to hydrate so quickly after being out in the hot, humid weather. When our waitress came by told us the specials of the day, what's was included and the prices. They consisted of a pulled pork chimichanga and a few others but I quit listening after that because she totally sold me on the chimichanga lol (I apologise). My mom is a picky eater and she's one of those guests who ask a lot questions and the waitress was really kind about it and answering all her questions. Food 5/5 My chimichanga came out amazing, it was HUGE and smothered in cheese and sour cream and lettuce. Tasted amazing and I regret that I couldn't finish it because it was so big! My husband had a cobb salad and an order of wings which also tasted great, huge portion of wings. My mom got a grilled chicken salad that was really well sized, and a side order of their mac and cheese which is topped with CHEEZ ITS!!! She said she loved it and wish she had ordered more. A friend reccomended this home in the wall for a great lunch. I had the blackened mahi mahi tacos and they were unbelievable! Juicy and flavorful with just a bit of spice. It's paired with a crunchy slaw that balances out the soft fish nicely. The beans and rice were okay but could've used more flavor. It's a small place (seats maybe 30) so you may have to wait! As a local I've been coming here for years and it's one of my favorite local restaurants. The nachos are AMAZING!! Please if you come here get the nachos, i normally get it with out any add ons but it's nice with blackened chicken as well. The people here are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the menu and where the fish comes from. I also like that they use local fish! You can also buy the habanero salsa at the table which i also recommend you do because it's very good! It's best to come here when it's not as busy because it's a smaller place. Ok, so we came on a Saturday night because all other restaurants had a long wait, or were closed because of Hurricane Hermine. We arrived and were seated right away. It is a small dive in a shopping mall. I got the Pork tacos which were excellent but a little pricey. Couple items to remember, it is small and not fitting for big parties. Half of the seats are a bar and with a bar you have drunken loud folks. Child friendly before 7pm. Next item is that the menu is pricey and they charge for a side of ranch! (Thank goodness I had chic fil a sauce in my car) Overall it was good food, but bring a loan and bring sides of condiments. Small and tucked away, I was lucky enough to find this gem of a café on the beach road. They were busy which is a very good sign.
