That explanation made absolutely no sense considering I only had one drink and then left. I am also requesting that the restaurant preserve and provide the security camera footage from the time I was there. The footage should clearly show that I only had one drink and may help verify exactly what happened. Being charged multiple times and then having the original charge changed is frustrating enough, but being given excuses instead of a straightforward explanation or resolution made the experience even worse. I recommend that anyone visiting carefully check their receipt and bank charges afterward. I assume the charge came from the group sitting at the table, which i was asked if i was with them and declined.
