Had a wonderful massage this morning. I'm usually very weary trying out new places and also going to an Asian Foot Spa because it's always a hit or miss. I called last night to make an appointment today (Labor Day) and luckily they were available. I opted for the $50 massage which was 45 min oil hot stone massage and 45 min foot massage. Julia was my masseuse and she was very strong. I really like deep and strong massages so I raved about her for a long time after getting home. I've been to Massage Envy twice and ever since I found out about this place never did I got back to Massage Envy! Literally from the scalp of my head to the tips of my toes for $25 ($5 tip included) for a FULL hour. You can do walk-ins or if necessary, call-in for an appointment just in case if you're coming in during the last hour. Now for that price don't expect fancy shmancy atmosphere with your own room. You're in a big room with other people getting massages, so of course you don't strip down. I recommend to come in with shorts and shirts just to get the full massage experience, they put a blanket on top of you so you don't get cold and for comfort. I personally prefer having one of the males massage me because they don't go soft and don't use gloves (unlike some of the women). If they feel a knot, they for sure work on it. But if you like the foo-foo girly, don't hurt me massage, then ask for a lady. Sometimes you have to remind them to use more lotion but apart from that, super worth it! I had to stop myself from coming here once a month with my lack of funds =P Heads up: For parking, use the parking lot in the back instead of street because there's an entrance through the back too. I've been to 2 other Foot Spa places (1 in San Jose and 1 in Vacaville) and am sorta hooked on the great massage for cheap. : ) I mean, this is not the same as a high end resort where you get your own private masseuse and private room and all because the room is open to the other tables. But the ambiance is nice (dark, pictures of nature on the TVs) and the masseuse works everything from head to toe and I felt fabulous after my massage! The price is very cheap $20 so I think a $10 tip is better than 5 personally. "Foot" spa is misleading in that you get a full body, one-hour massage...and it is incredible! Spa is very clean and relaxing. Dan, the owner, wants to be in business a long time and is very concerned that you have a wonderful experience. If you have special needs (like more time on the feet or back) - or areas you want to avoid - just speak with Dan so they can "customize" your massage. I have problems with sciatica and foot neuropathy and weekly massage has improved my health remarkably. It took a while for me to find the masseuse with the right touch for me and now he always especially works the area I indicate needs a little more attention. I always leave feeling so much better ... physically and mentally. Regarding tipping - who can complain about tipping "minimum $5.00" to someone with such expertise and who just spent an hour making you feel good? I am writing this review with the intention of updating it after my second visit. This is a very clean and quiet environment by comparison to the dozen or more other "foot spa's" I have been to from the East Bay to LA! They do not allow cell phones on and the therapists are pretty quiet-no business phones ringing, etc. Host speaks English well, therapist not so good. Music is relaxing spa music and beautiful images play on plenty of flat screens for everyone to see. I give the environment 5 stars. My only issue was the massage itself. It wasn't bad per se, he just wasn't into it. Last massage of the day, Saturday night, he just wanted to hurry up and be done. Next time I will come early and request a different therapist. The reviews were so-so, but for the price, I decided to give it a try. For $20 an hour, I decided to give it a try. The "spa" was located in an office building. I had to ring the doorbell since it was after business hours. Some lady walked down the stairs to let me in since the doors were locked. The place was extremely small. There was a sign that said "Please help, minimum $5 tip." The massuese I had was LuLu. It was dim and there were about 5 big comfy chairs that I saw. You start off with a foot soak, then she massages your face, head, shoulders and arms. She did this thing to my hands that felt good as well. The foot massage part was awesome. No crazy pokes and digging into my feet like the other places. Her pressure was perfect. I wished the actual foot massage portion lasted longer. Then she had me turnover face down and she started working on my back and legs. This was no, soft sensual massage. She really worked on your back and felt like I was getting a beating. However, I have to admit, it felt good afterwards. The only thing I didn't like was how she kept massaging my butt! It was weird. I told her to lower the pressure, but she didn't seem to understand. Anyway, I would come back here but would like just a FOOT Massage. 1 full hour of massaging my feet. Not all the extras. Oh, there is a sign that states please turn off your cell phone. There are no private rooms but the massage areas are fairly well separated and with curtain that can be drawn for a little more separation/privacy. You are fully clothed for your massage so be sure to wear shorts and a t-shirt or something that's not restrictive (like jeans). Although the namesake is Foot-Spa, your massage is head to toe ... all of the pressure points in the top of your head to the soles of your feet are pressed. What I love is that with this full body massage theirs no bullshit of taking your clothes off and having the dude slip and slide all over your back with long periods of time with your head in the hole getting a stuffy nose. They work down your front and do a lot of relaxation techniques. The only non relaxing part was the foot massage during the pressure points, but the more you can take the better you will feel AFTER the massage for the feet. When coming in, the ladies had taken me and my boyfriend back and just took us to a room and didnt say anything. We didnt know what we were supposed to do. After taking our clothes off we were laying on the table. The lady i had was literally pinching and i kid you not she was scratching me. My boyfriend is very self conscious of his psoriasis and the lady he had put gloves on while massaging him. Imagine how uncomfortable it is to get a massage while wearing rubber gloves?!
