I asked where to get my fishing license and the young man cheerfully gave me precise instructions. Once I arrived at customer service I was greeted warmly and in less than 5 minutes I had my license. I chose 1 year but you can choose from a good variety of options up to three years! 5 star experience... While I walked about I was asked by a floor monitor if they could assist me with anything... I asked T question and they responded kindly good people in the store. I got some Iowa beef sticks... they also had good variety of jerky... that meaty juicy type not dried. I asked AI what are the top 5 most popular lures that work best in Utah and the store had all of them. I took them, a great Nike T shirt and my beefsteak at the cashiers near the entrance, paid and bid good day. I'd shop this place again.

(I had several questions) 10 minutes in golf department. Same story. 20 minutes in BBQ and the two guys there seemed more worried about the display looking great than offering help. I've always loved Scheels but I am very disappointed with the current lake of service or lack of. I hope things improve! (I only spent $250)

When we go to the checkout line I told my girls they could each pick out a ball from the small bin of balls. I then bent down to look at something on a shelf. I heard an associate very rudely tell my girls that the balls needed to go back in the bin. Not knowing what to say they started to apologize and the associate repeated "balls in bin!" My girls did as requested and walked over to me. I found it extremely rude and unprofessional that the only interaction we had with any one of service was someone scolding my daughters for holding balls that I said I would buy them ‍. The store was nearly empty and I can understand why. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend doing any business with this store, unless you want to have your kids leave crying. .

In the Olympic lifts there is a lot of dropping the barbell at heights over your head. so the last thing you want are the plates to be flying different directions. Also in powerlifting when weights start getting heavy and the barbell starts to bend the you dont want the whip of the bar to cause the plates to slide and cause an asymetry. So I initially bought Clout Collars due to so many universally good reviews. After a few years I noticed that the plates were slipping more and more and definitely with the Olumpics sometimes the collars would pop open. No bueno. So I wrote to them and they more than glad to replace them. Lifretime warranty? yes! that's pretty awesome. they sent me a set of new collars and it was a dramatic difference. with almost full bar of plates I dropped from shoulder height had only a few millimeters of shift. Now obviously these arent the Olympic style clamp down collars. They're an easy to use Lockjaw style. But for the price/performance value and lifretime warranty they're definitely more than worth it

What I can say with certainty is that Big 5 is an all-around kind of place. Not so much for outdoors enthusiasts--others excel in that category. If they do edge anyone out it's in the shoe department which is pretty hefty, especially if you're not looking to spend a ton. Hiking boots, running shoes, tennies, and lots in between. But really, Big 5 is about covering the bases (pun intended) and offering a modest selection of everything. And at really competitive pricing (keep an eye on the ads) it's at least worth a stop in to see what they have. Pretty convenient right there on 90th South.

I should first clarify by saying that I'm nowhere near an expert when it comes to buying sporting equipment. I frequent Play It Again Sports for mostly one reason: disc golf equipment. When it comes to this lovely sport for people who don't (or won't, or can't) dribble, PIAS has one of the best selections around. They carry nearly all the disc brands and makes. Occasionally they will be out of one, but they place frequent orders and you really don't have to wait long. Color, weight, and plastic type selections are also decent. The other day, I threw my Vibram Lace into someone's backyard at Rosecrest in Harriman (curse you Harriman disc golf park, phbbbt!). Luckily, this place had my exact disc, plastic type color, and weight in stock. I drove there lickety split and picked one up. The people who work there (owners sometimes) know quite a bit about the different sports. The other equipment they have on hand seems to be in great or like-new condition. I've never had a bad experience here. The stores are on the slightly dirtier side, but then again, it adds to that neat garage-sale, quality used goods kind of vibe. Give this place a shot and see what you think!
