Foothill Restaurant was such a pleasant surprise! From the moment we arrived, we were seated immediately and welcomed with genuinely friendly service. The patio is absolutely beautiful and creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing lunch or dinner. The ambiance alone makes this place worth visiting. Our server was fantastic--attentive, kind, and one of the highlights of the evening. The wine list was thoughtfully curated, and we really enjoyed starting our meal with a delicious appetizer. Most of our food was excellent. I ordered the steak frites, but it wasn't prepared the way steak frites is traditionally served. Our server immediately recognized that something was off, graciously took it back, and helped me choose another entrée, which was very good. Her professionalism turned what could have been a disappointing moment into a positive experience. There did seem to be a slight disconnect between the kitchen and the front-of-house, and a bit more consistency in execution would take the restaurant to the next level. That said, the flavors were very good, the setting was gorgeous, and the hospitality more than made up for the hiccup. Overall, we had a wonderful evening and would absolutely return. The small lot in the back fills up quickly, especially during peak hours, so you might have to drive around a bit to find a spot. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods, but be prepared to walk a little if the lot is full. While the food lived up to expectations with delicious and well-prepared dishes, my overall experience was marred by an unexpected and excessive charge for cake storage. We brought our own cake for the celebration, and the restaurant charged us $25 plus an additional $16.97 just to store the cake in their fridge. What made this even more frustrating was that they did not provide any cake-cutting service. They merely stored the cake and provided plates, leaving us to handle the rest. While I understand there might be a fee for bringing in outside desserts, the amount charged felt exaggerated and unjustified, especially given the lack of additional service. This significantly impacted our overall experience and left us feeling disappointed. I really like that they have a parking lot next to it, so it makes life a bit easier. I came in on a Saturday night, and it still had some empty tables, so I wouldn't be too worried about getting a table. However, to be safe, I made a reservation regardless just in case because you never know. I want to point out that my waitress was extremely awesome, but I'm disappointed to say that I forgot her name. She was so thoughtful and sweet, and made our experience even better. We ordered the portobello fries, hummus, short ribs, steak frites, burger, and the shrimp pasta. The portobello wasn't too fatty, so it was easy to eat. The pumpkin seed hummus was interesting and tastes best with bread, the short ribs was delicious and flavorful. I think the rest were pretty good too. One thing I do want to point out is that the food is super fIlling, so you would want to keep that in mind when you order! read more

BAD SERVICE. The restaurant was busy , being Mother's Day. But then I realized that our server only had a small section of tables. I ordered coffee and asked for brown sugar. Coffee came, no sugar. I finally got the server's attention and asked again for sugar. By the time the sugar came the coffee was cold. An order of pancakes came without syrup. I asked our server for syrup she said she would get it. 10 minutes passed, no syrup. I got up to ask a busboy for syrup. Our server walked over and got us syrup, but pancakes were cold. The check was timely as they had guests waiting for tables. Add insult to injury, a 4% surcharge was added to the bill-without any notification, to help pay the salaries of the kitchen staff in the back. So now I'm paying for good food, bad service and employees salaries. Makes sense. read more

We were a party of 30 on the patio, and the experience was fabulous. Despite the large group, our main server, with the help of a few others, handled everything exceptionally well. Adding to the lively atmosphere was a DJ on the patio, playing fantastic music that kept the energy high throughout the brunch. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the ambiance was just perfect. We couldn't have asked for more. If you're looking for good food and excellent service, head to The Foothill. The food was exceptional, albeit a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were deliciously flavorful but spicier than I had anticipated. Our server, who also doubled as the bartender, was attentive and ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal. We tried the espresso martinis, which were expertly crafted, and the bacon old fashioned, uniquely garnished with hot, crispy bacon on top--a delightful twist. We've been loyal patrons of this place for years -- the menu has always been fantastic, and the service consistently excellent. However, the quality of the food has noticeably declined. Sometimes, less is more. We recently ordered quesadillas that were overloaded with cheese to the point of being overwhelming. The burrito was drenched in sauce, making it unappetizing and far from the quality we've come to expect. In the past, the burrito was perfectly balanced, not smothered like a fast-food item. This restaurant was known for its quality and attention to detail, not for serving food that feels rushed or careless. Met a couple friends at this new restaurant. My first observation, they put a lot of time and effort into the decor and the furnishings. Looks great. I thought to myself, I hope the food lives up to the decor. And it did. My friends and I shared onion rings, calamari, hot wings, deviled eggs. A few days later I came in and discovered they offered grilled artichokes. They got my number. The other thing that impressed me was the attitude of the serving staff. From the greeter/hostess to the guys clearing the table, they all made me feel like they were glad I was there. Overpriced garbage with a very abrasive staff. The manager is an outright d***. The servers are nice. FOH reminds me of Rozz from monsters inc, personality and all. If you feel like spending $30 on a plate of mediocrity this is the spot. The restaurant is even near sierra madre station so you can enjoy the local vagrants potentially stealing from your car! The inside of the restaurant looks like a spiced up ihop. Avoid. Ps to the owner: I grew up going to your other restaurants. This is absolutely sad and distasteful. The salad is fresh with a ton of delicious ingredients such as grilled chicken, bacon, hard egg, and lots of avocado. The amount of bleu cheese crumbles and dressing is just right. I was able to smear avocado on my sourdough to make my own avo toast. Short rib hash is very hearty with lots of largely cubed short rib and country potatoes. My mother and father celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary here, secretly from us)) And they didn't tell us about it, then they told us, they serve very delicious dishes here, it doesn't matter what you order, whether you like it or not, it's impossible not to eat here.
