    Iced ube latte
    Tiffany A.

I LOVE Popping Yolk Cafe, I first started coming to the Alhambra location. This spot is fixed right in the middle of Old Town Pasadena. There's a great parking structure around the corner with 2 hour free parking. They have a reward point system using your phone number if you frequent the cafe often enough and can go towards different menu items. Matthew helped me order an iced ube latte and made me slightly more sweeter for me. This was perfect. I typically order their Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and switch out the fried potatoes with French fries (this is an extra $3 charge). Matthew was very kind bc he came up to my take letting me know the kitchen was closing if there was anything else I wanted to order before they closed up. Thank you for going out of your way to let me know so I could put my food order in. I was going to give this location 4 stars because there was no WiFi but the staff was SO NICE I had to give them 5 stars. I was able to make due without working on my laptop. So if you don't need to get any work done, def give them a try! Perfect brunch spot.

The Benedicts are amazing here. I got the fish fillet benedict and it was perfectly toasted, not soggy l, the yolk still runny and not over cooked. Perfectly seasoned, especially the country fried potatoes. Service was fast, you order and pay first then you can find a table to sit at. Clean areas to sit, inside and out. Great place to meet up with friends or family for brunch.

The food here is amazing! I absolutely love how flavorful everything is and the portion is great. I really love the side salad they give, it helps cut through the heaviness of the food. Service is great! you order and pay for your food, then you find a place to sit. There's plenty of tables inside and there's some outside. Sitting outside is pretty nice if it's not too hot! 10/10 recommendation!

Ordered Doordash and my order arrived in less than an hour, which was pretty fast! Menu had a good variety of burgers, benedicts, French toast, sandwiches, etc. Pricing was a little pricey but not too unreasonable. Expect to pay $20+ for most of the dishes Ordered the Avocado Benedict ($20.95) and it consisted of 2 egg muffins, topped with a poached egg, avocado, and ham, as well as a garden salad and country fried potatoes. One of the eggs arrived destroyed so it was already runny and the other one was a little overcooked so it wasn't perfectly poached as I was expecting but it wasn't too big of a deal. The ham was a little dry and salty but the avocado was very delicious and fresh. The egg muffin was quite cold and dry so it wasn't too enjoyable. The garden salad was pretty basic and just had some greens, corn, and tomatoes so nothing too special. The potatoes arrived cold, dry and slightly crunchy. It was extremely salty so it was hard to enjoy Overall, I thought the food was a little pricey and underwhelming unfortunately.

Came here for breakfast and there was a 20 min wait. When you're called, you order at the front and sit inside or outside. We opted for inside. The place is busy and loud but its fine. It was a full house and the noise level is expected. That is how you know the place is that good. The ube pancakes here are tasty. Has coconut shavings and a dollop of real ube on top. The pulled pork Benedict was really good. Daughter loved the pork and came with a salad and potatoes. The hollandaise sauce was not enough but the dish itself in all was good. Would def come back and try the ube french toast.

Came for brunch and the size of all the dishes is great for what you pay for! I got the bacon jam burger and it was a pretty standard burger, but I loved the combo w their tangy salad and crispy potato. The store itself was also very pretty inside and staff was great. Good place to hang out and catch up with friends.

Food: 5/5 Order the Nashville spicy chicken sandwich with side salad and potatoes. Three chicken was cooked so good. Not over or undercooked, just perfect. Right amount of spicy and seasoning. The buns were stellar. Also had the crunchy french toast UBE. Not overly sweet which was great. The crunch was nice too! Service: 4/5 Quick service, nice staff. Ambiance: 5/5 Nice location, plenty of parking in structure. Outdoor and indoor seating available.

Omg I love this place! Idk how I had never been. I'm so glad we finally decided to try it on Friday. We got there around 1:45ish but they were super nice and took us in. They close at 3. We ordered at the front register. I got the avocado bennies, a mimosa, and my bf got the Santa Barbara burger with a sunny side up egg. The mimosa was amazing!! It's freshly squeezed orange juice. I can't wait to go back for more Lol. The bennies were yummy, I would definitely get them again. It was a good amount of avocado, which I love! The burger was also good. I can't wait to go back and order the burger. They both come with country fried potatoes. Let me tell you, they are the best ones I've ever had. It's a big portion, but I'm not complaining because they were delicious. Other places give you soggy, or thick potatoes, these are the complete opposite. They were super crunchy, loved it! Right amount of seasoning too. They both also come with a salad, and the dressing was really good. Not sure what type of dressing it had but it tasted like yuzu, lemony, vinaigrette. Overall, amazing food, our server was really nice, great customer service, and I can't wait to go back!

The service & food is really good! We ordered the breakfast platter and the eggs benedict. I've been here a few times and if you plan to come on a weekend for breakfast/ brunch, you do have to hustle a bit to find seating or wait. There is no hostess here and you are not seated, once you order, you then go and find your own seating. Because of the weekend, it tends to be pretty busy. I've also been here during weekdays which is less busy so you can find a table without an issue.

We came here for a girls brunch, and everybody enjoyed everything they ordered! You place your order before being seated, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The guy at the front was really helpful and patient with our group of 8, and the service we received from everyone at the restaurant was refreshing. I got the kimchi fried chicken benedict, honeycomb crepe, the egg coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice, and each was a 10/10. I will be back to try the kimchi spam omelette, but the food here is so good. Lastly, the restaurant has a very chill casual, but welcoming vibe.

    Erin K.

We waited awhile to order, but the food came out super fast. We got the BBQ Pulled Pork Omelette & the House French Toast. Very generous portions. I would definitely get the omelette again, there was a lot of meat and veggies inside and potatoes om the side were crispy. The french toast was good but pretty heavy, especially since we already ate the omelette. Overall, good food and good portions (especially for the french toast) considering the price.

Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Seating: 5/5 Parking: 3/5 Bathroom: 4/5 Located in Old Town Pasadena, you have to pay for street parking or pay for parking in a garage, 3/5. Lots of indoor (and some outdoor) seating from tables to booths, very comfortable seating 5/5. For the bathroom you have to go in the back through a door and down a hallway, two bathrooms either Female/Male. In female bathroom two stalls + 1 sink with paper towel or air dryer options, 4/5. Order at the counter then pick any seat, waiter brings out dishes to your table. Besides that, no one really checks up on you, but all employees were nice, customer service 4/5. Very aesthetic from the inside decor to the bathroom decor and since lots of seating, a great brunch spot, ambiance 5/5. Ordered Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict ($19.20) and it was delicious with perfect eggs, 4/5. It had a salad with a vinaigrette dressing on the side (3/5) and a side of crispy potatoes that were the best part: perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not too greasy (5/5). Also ordered a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice ($6.95) that was 5/5. I was visiting from out of town, but overall I would visit again, 4.5/5.

    Jessica J.

All the food is very light flavored. Nothing is too salty. I got the Fried Chicken Benedict. It was not spicy or salty. I got it mild spiciness. The Mozzarella Sticks were good too. You order and you pick your seat. Parking is limited and depending on certain times, you have to pay for parking. There is restroom in the back.

It actually didn't take too long for our order to arrive, which we were surprised they are very quick and efficient with service! Although, the food was very underwhelming. California Benedict was pretty basic, or just the bare minimum actually. It was okay, ingredients don't really stand out. My bf's country fried steak, he was disappointed that the steak didn't even look fried. He wasn't really a fan of his order lol. I thought the potatoes were pretty decent, although I wish they were cut smaller into like breakfast potatoes. They were so chunky, but also wish they could be fried more. Overall, I feel like we chose the wrong items from this place lol, but these were the items highlighted on the Yelp page? Maybe it didn't help that we were seated next to the kitchen or a cart full of dirty dishes bc I just kept smelling that as we were eating.

When I ordered a matcha, the employee asked if regular milk was okay, and I said oat milk was fine. However, I was never informed that oat milk was an additional $1 charge. She also never asked what size I wanted and then told me to pay. When I looked at the screen, I saw that the total was $7 for a large. I only wanted to spend around $5-$6, so I asked if I could get a small instead. I was surprised to see that the price was still the same. When I asked why, she then explained that oat milk was a $1 up charge and she didn't charge me on the large order for oatmilk. I don't mind paying the extra dollar, but I feel customers should be informed about an additional charge before being charged for it. Also, if getting a large was actually the better deal, I would have appreciated being told that. What made the interaction more frustrating was that the employee seemed distracted and dismissive while her coworker was talking to her. I ended up getting the small, even though I was confused about the pricing. The matcha itself was good, but unfortunately, because of the customer service experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I don't expect anything special--just clear communication about pricing and to be asked what size I'd like before being charged.

(I mean what kind of place offers alongside a slice of toast or english muffins, provides a unique an alternate option for HOMEMADE BANANA BREAD?) Its always fresh and the best - you can even purchase an entire loaf of banana bread at checkout! We always visit on the weekends, and there's usually a short wait but it moves quickly. Its small, busy, and quaint (no frills) - but hearty breakfast that feels like home.

Despite its popularity, I find the food to be fairly average. Much of it tastes like it's made from standard commercial food-service ingredients rather than prepared fresh. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, the dining room has a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is generally attentive. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood breakfast restaurant - nothing particularly memorable, but nothing especially disappointing either. The Reyn Special - 3/5. A classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and banana bread. The eggs and bacon are fairly average, although the bacon tends to be overcooked and dry. The standout is the hash browns. They're cooked with a nicely browned, crispy crust while still remaining fairly moist inside. The real highlight, however, is the banana bread. It tastes homemade and is easily the best item on the plate. Crepes - 1/5. This dish comes as two separate plates: one with the ricotta-filled crepes and another with eggs, sausage, bacon, and your choice of fries or tater tots. Unfortunately, the crepes are the weakest part of the meal. The ricotta-filled crepes don't taste freshly made and instead resemble a pre-made food-service product that's simply reheated before serving. Both the crepe and ricotta filling have a generic flavor with noticeable artificial notes. You can choose either banana or strawberry topping, but both sauces taste overly processed and artificial. The accompanying breakfast plate is noticeably better. I chose the tater tots, which were well prepared - crispy on the outside while remaining soft inside. The bacon, however, was again overcooked and dry, making it tough to chew. The sausage was acceptable but unremarkable. Scrambled Supreme - 2.5/5. Despite the name, this is essentially an omelet. The eggs have a mild, neutral flavor, and the fillings are okay but don't stand out. Coffee - 2/5. The coffee is classic diner coffee in every sense. It's somewhat watery, heavily roasted, and finishes with a flat, slightly bitter aftertaste. It's neither particularly good nor particularly bad - just standard coffee that does the job. Overall, The Reyn succeeds as a comfortable, affordable breakfast spot with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. While the food is average, and several dishes rely on ingredients that taste commercially prepared rather than freshly made.

Loved the variety and selection of flavors and spices for any palate. Had the Soto Betwai, it was delicious with steamed rice. Wings were crispy and well seasoned. Loved the fried rice, and the generous amount of wagyu steak was surprisingly tender and flavor for only $22. The service was top notch, attentive, and helpful. The dining area was dimly lit, classy, and had a romantic date-night atmosphere.

However, the last time i was here, my bread was cold and chewy... i was gnawing on the bread for a while and gave up eating it altogether. I also consistently ordered the steak tartare but something about it fell flat. It didnt taste fresh and lacked the umami that it had the prev times ive ordered. Service was fine. Nothing amazing but nothing bad. Id still come back. I want to try the dishes that theyre known for bc ive only ever ordered a bunch of small plates. Hopefully my experience next time will be better

We started with the artisan bread as an appetizer, and then the sweet potato fries. The bread and butter was really good. The sweet potato fries were a solid choice almost got Brussels sprouts may do that next time. I was really considering the Wagyu beef stroganoff as well. . A co-worker had the spicy pasta and loved it. We were there celebrating a special occasion, a retirement celebration. . I ordered the rainbow trout top 5 I have had in a really lon time. They brought out a card for her retirement, which surprised her, and they provided a dessert too. The food, the service, and the experience were all five star. If you want to go somewhere for a special meal or to celebrate, Granville is a great choice. I definitely plan to come back. I picked my meal from looking at the Yelp pictures, not the menu. It was nice to get out of the summer heat into an air conditioned restaurant. What we ordered: Drinks (included with $25 dineLA prix-fixe) - Berry lemonade - non-refillable - Craft soda (cream soda) - refillable Appetizers - Grilled mushrooms - Farmhouse beets Entrees - Poke bowl - Pasta alla Vodka Dessert (gelato) - vanilla fleur de sel - dark chocolate - cherry almond chip The berry lemonade was salty. I wasn't expecting a salty drink. I had to wash it down with iced water. My friend enjoyed her agave vanilla cream soda. She gladly accepted a refill. The grilled mushrooms were nicely seasoned. We enjoyed the variety: oyster and trumpet mushrooms. The farmhouse beets were served with arugula, feta, candied pecans, and a lemon vinaigrette. These were nice starters. I ordered the poke bowl. The portion size was perfect for lunch. It contained tuna, soba noodles at the base, small cubes of mango & avocado, toasted coconut, red onion, basil, and sesame seeds. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The pasta alla vodka was slightly spicy. It consisted of "mezze maniche" or large tubular pasta, pungent pecorino cream, tomato, garlic, and shallots. It was topped with grated Parmesan cheese. This was a heavier entree. Each of us had one scoop of gelato. It was a nice finish to a pleasant Friday afternoon.
