This place is really legit. I love that it's so close to Coney Island and serves up a large variation of Caribbean dishes for a pretty good price. I got the Rasta pasta with the jerk chicken tenders and man it was soooo flavorful. The pasta was rich and creamy and well done. The jerk chicken Tenders were really juicy and I absolutely loved the flavors. A lot of people were complaining about the service but we were served really promptly. Maybe it's the luck of the draw? So, I have been to footprint two other time before my last visit and I must say that there has been a overall decline. But before I get to a receive of the nights events, let's talk about the week to days leading up to the night. RESERVATION So I xalled to make the in title reservation and that was not a problem. About a week before the event I called because more individuals wanted to attend, so the number went from 10 to 16. A larger number, but I was told that I would have to speak with a manager. No problem I spoke with him and he said that for that large of a party that we would have to do a fixed menu at $40.00 person or rent the space for $300.00 per hour, plus the cost of food. Know the type of individuals in my group I knew this was not an option. So I asked what would be the cap to have a normal reservation, to which I was told 14. OK, I'll make it work with 14. I called back a three days before the event to find out if I could bring my own cake and balloons. I was told I was not allowed to bring balloons, but I could bring my own cake for a cutting fee of $40.00. $40.00 Is a little excessive especially since I only need plates and forks for everyone to eat. If that's the case we will have cake somewhere else. So I decline and make other arrangements for the cake NIGHT Of RESERVATION We arrive at the resturant and they stated that a need a few minutes to set up. That fine, but if you are going to insist on individual arriving on time for thier reservations l, you as an establishment need to be timely as well. No worries, that just leave more time for the group to take pictures and admire Coney island right across the street. We finally sit down and and it take our wait about 10minutes before he comes over to fill our glasses with water. No worries, it's an over sight. He fills the water and then disappears for an additional 15 minutes. Now it's about 46mins into out reservations before he come to take our drink orders. At this point he tried to walk away but the group is hungry and they want to place appetizers. No worries, etc takes them and off he goes. At this point we still do not know his name DRINKS We has everything from soda, sorrel , fruit punch, ginger beer, carrot juice and some alcoholic beverages. The only drink that was sent back was thw pinacolada because it was rundown and messy. Note, there are no refills on on any of the drinks not even soda and to be honest not event the water that night. We asked for water at least 4 time throughout dinner and never received a refill. APPETIZER It took a little while, but when it arrived we excited. We had crab cakes, codfish cakes. Calamari, shrimp, and wings. The best of all the apps was the calamari. I would never order the codfish cakes as the middle of them were doughy an under cooked. The cab cake didn't taste like crab, the shrimp was 6 mini shrimps for $10 and was rotten and wings had so many feathers it could have flown away. Picture featured below. Entree. For the most part Entree was not that bad. The salmon was cooked to quickly and was dry. The whole salmon still had some scales on it, the beef was over cooked. However, the BBQ chicken was on point and the rasta pasta was very very much on point. And the oxtails were not the best, but they were OK. SERVICE service was really lacking that night. We had to pile up out dishes from appetizers to Mae room for entree plates. Those were never picked up until about half way through dinner when I asked another waiter to take them. read more

The food here is excellent, the service is terrible. Footprints has an extensive menu and is well known for their Caribbean meals and party vibes. The food is delicious and comes in large portions. I suggest getting your favorite meat with the Rasta Pasta. I had jerk salmon with the pasta. The salmon was good and the jerk sauce was ok, the two of them together was...interesting. Probably should've had another seasoning with it. Lol. The restaurant has a party vibe to it. They play everything from current rap to Jackson 5, the type of mix you'd want for a birthday dinner. There was even a dj as early as 730 on a Tuesday. As good as the food was, I don't think it made up for the slow service. The food took 40mins to come out. Even ordering drinks (& water!) took forever and the waitress constantly forgot to bring the drinks we ordered. This was very upsetting and tiring. Before coming here I was having a horrible night at another restaurant. Since it was so late already our options were limited. I've always wanted to try Jamaican food and they are open till 1AM? Not bad at all. Once we got there the waitress sat us down at a table that was rocking back and forth just to find out all the tables in that row were broken too.The waitress kindly fixed the problem with some cardboard. My drinks were way too sweet but I was getting tipsy so I didn't care. I had to water mine down a bit. Hey what did I expect when I ordered a "blue drink" ? After seeing Sasha post her review of Footprints I remembered how much I loved their Rasta Pasta. How it has been many years since I have delighted myself in eating it. So I decided at a late hour of the night to go grab some. My second complaint was the curry chicken. We were so disappointed with all the contents of this plate. The rice was cold and bland. The curried chicken did not taste good at all, and the salad was awful. I could've cried. I love me some good curry chicken, we were so hungry (sad face). My sister was not impressed with it either. I had bragged so much about it, dammit. The Rasta Pasta came thru, and that plate we tore up. It was as I had remembered it. Moist and creamy with a hint of spiciness. I ordered it with Calypso shrimps, those were good but too little of it. We will be back to eat two plates of it, for sure. The drinks were ok, nothing special. This is my second visit to this location. I was here for a farewell party for a special person. My friend made a reservation for a party of 20 a few days in advance. Upon entering the restaurant, I inquired about the reservation and was looked at like I had two heads lol. After searching through their paperwork for almost five minutes, they finally located the reservation. My personal opinion is if you have dinner reservations for a particular day then they should already be at the front desk to make it easier.......I'm just saying. The restaurant isn't that big in size, on the first level there is a bar and about 10-12 tables available for seating. Our party was led upstairs to the second level which I never noticed before. There is a bar upstairs as well and a bathroom which is a plus because no one wants to have to go up and down for the restroom. I loved how they set the tables up, it was just one long table for us all to dine together. Our server Tori was absolutely great and attentive to our needs. The food was very good. I chose to order stew chicken with rice and peas. I was enjoying it until my throat felt like it was on fire. It felt as if I just swallowed a hot pepper which surprised me because stew chicken normally isn't so spicy. I expressed my concern about not wanting to eat anymore so my meal was replaced with another choice which I chose the oxtails instead. Oh my goodness.........their oxtail dinner was amazing......seasoned to perfection. Everyone was pleased with their meal, just a few concerns about the peppers. Overall our dining experience made our farewell party a wonderful one. We had a large party and one thing that I didn't like about Footprints is when it came to the bill, we were only allowed to split it two ways which I thought was absolutely absurd. I've heard people talking about this place for years so I had to try it! I was expecting great food but it was mediocre at its best! Ordered a large Oxtail Entree & also a curry chicken Entree both were filled with rice and a quarter of the meat which would've been ok if the food was good. I never knew of the Coney Island location but my friends & I were looking for a bar, wings/shrimp, drinks & a good time! We also had to tinkle so we stopped in. One of our friends made it through customs & was able to use a bathroom. Customs aka the host(ess) stopped the rest of the group from using the bathroom because we weren't customers. Mind you I didn't see a sign that reinforced what she told us. It was only 3 women who had to use the bathroom not the entire group. She said we could purchase a bottle of water. Really?! How would that be conducive to our current situation. No one was thinking about beverages when we were doubled over from needing to release the demon inside us. I digress. Once we were able to use the bathroom we all noticed one very apparent thing it was filthy as hell!! Urine all over the seat & floor. A overflowing garbage pail in the corner & watered down nonbacterial soap on top of the sink. They really should have someone clean the bathroom every so often. We ended up getting a table because we were hungry. We all ordered drinks and some of us ordered food. The waitress, Marchelle had a terrible way about her. Not sure if it's a Caribbean Ting but she had an attitude from the beginning. I'm Haitian so by no means should anyone take offense to it but I really would like to know what was her issue. Was she overworked & underpaid? Did she catch her man with Marcia? Whatever it was if gratuity wasn't included she wouldn't get a tip AT ALL!! She was unknowledgeable when it came to what the food & drinks were prepared with. She wasn't attentive whatsoever and had an attitude as if we stoled her lunch money when we finally flagged her down. She missed orders & forgot to bring things out. When it was time to go she brought out containers but no bags. Really Marchelle, REALLY?! On the flip side the food was amazing & so were the drinks! I've been eating at Footprints Coney Island location since it opened a few years ago and at the Canarsie location, for years before that. I like this place. I always have. My boyfriend though is a newbie and in his words upon eating here for the first time a few nights ago- "Food was awesome but WHY was the waiter leaning all the way over on the table next to us while he took our orders? Was he tipsy off a "Brooklyn?" Anywhoo, the rasta pasta is a must have...at least once. Great apps and the drinks here make you feel as wild and loose as their names. (Fuzzy D@*k anyone?) I try to support my people as much as I can, but this experience was ridiculous. Because a star is required to post, I gave it the only one apropos given portion size and (according to others) taste. Arrived and the place was empty, give or take two parties on the first floor. I assume there were no parties upstairs as 1. No one but employees ever emerged from the area and 2. Anyone who came in was given a downstairs location to sit. Some of the party put in appetizers. Everyone put in their meal requests. Nothing crazy, just asked for seafood or chicken. Waiting. I'm vegan and this place does not cater to me, so I was resolved on not eating here anyways, but hungry enough that I finally put in an order for a salad. A salad with fruit on top, but still just a salad. More waiting. While waiting, we did some observations (as one does when hungry and feeling neglected). The chairs and tables needed upholstering and upgrades as they seemed to be falling apart. The UberEats orders were flying out the door. Yet still we waited. Waited about 40 minutes for appetizers. Not the full meal, but appetizers. Asked if the appetizers were on the way, assured yes and waited 15 minutes before they actually did. Drinks were done at this point, but nothing including water was ever replenished. Angrily waiting, but now it's getting late so the chances of eating elsewhere are slim to none. Over an hour later, the rest of the party received their dishes with no salad to boot. My little ol' salad with fruit on top came out about 1.5 hours after having put in the order. I am so totally disappointed and disgusted that words cannot describe it. The only positive things that can be said are that the portion size is aplenty and was told the meals themselves were tasty. As for me? I bit into a tasteless mango, and quickly decided I I had to pay for the little piece of misfortune given to me, it would be put to better use in a smoothie than eaten raw. Additionally, when the salad arrived, I was more than ready to go. This will be the last time I visit the establishment. While hanging out at a yelp event at the Coney Island Brewery a fellow elite spoke highly of this place, so we decided to come here for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor of this place once I walked in. I was also a big fan of the layout and beautiful colored lights they have behind the bar and the best part is the music they blast. Despite the beautiful interior, it just doesn't make up for the terrible service. The employees are polite and cool but are extremely unorganized. After being sat at our table it took what felt like forever for someone to come over to our table. I couldn't even tell you who my waiter was because we had about three different people take our drink and food order. The worst part about the service was when one waiter took our order, we waited for a bit and about 30 minutes later another waiter came over stating that the first waiter forgot what we ordered so he needed to retake our order. If it wasn't such a patient person I would have walked out. SERIOUSLY!!! Almost a half hour after we originally ordered, you're going to ask us what we ordered??? The only savior of the night was the food. I went with the Rasta Pasta with Jerk Chicken (white meat for $1 more) and it was so good. My friend went with the Rasta Pasta and Salmon which I had a chance to try and I enjoyed her fish as well. They also brought out some cornbread with butter which was a pleasant treat. The food isn't the problem with this place, it's their service in my opinion which seriously needs to be addressed after my experience and reading other reviews. Friends who have been here in the past tell me it was way better before but for some reason Footprints has went downhill. We got take out and the food was delicious. Good size and very affordable prices. I ordered the curried goat roti and it was really flavorful. The goat was on the bone (minor inconvenience), but the reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is that the roti only had goat in it. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, I'd say a 6/10, but still not worth the price compared to other Caribbean places. The customer service is atrocious. When my mom and I got there, the staff members were incredibly rude and had bad attitudes. My mom found a freaking SPIDER in her drink. How has the place not been shut down by heath inspection!? She kindly asked for another but they didn't believe her even though the evidence was right there. There was no compensation whatsoever. I wrote a personal complaint to their management and yet have to receive a response. Whoever the upper management is, get yourself together and train your staff properly. If you're wondering why your ratings are so low, read your reviews and self-reflect. The escovietch pickle was just right. The bammy was tasty and the breadfruit was fried well. The next dish was the oxtail with Rasta pasta. That was polished off quickly. Don't waste your money here. The food and service quality was terrible. For a table of 4 having to pay a 17% gratuity you would assume to receive good service. Instead what we got was mediocre. No one checking in on us offering water refills or even asking how the food was. We even had a spill at our table due to my younger brother knocking over a glass. The tables are way too close together. There is nothing more uncomfortable than not having enough elbow room while eating! The warm cornbread with butter is decent. Our waitress did not understand what a Dos XX beer was despite it being on the menu. We had to point it out to her on the menu. The staff should really be well versed with the menu. The two most disgusting parts of our visit was when a patron came in holding her wig in her hand. Considering the tables are so close to each other her wig grazed our table! The clientele and the majority of the crowd at Coney Island are truly the bottom of the barrel. Who walks into a food establishment with a weave or wig in their hand? The 2nd icing on the cake was the fact that they only have ONE unisex restroom and it is the filthiest, stinkiest bathroom I have EVER seen inside a RESTAURANT. It was just as bad as the PUBLIC bathroom on the boardwalk! On other occasions when I ordered, there was way more pasta and the chicken wasn't cut into huge chunks. The menu says "chicken strips". There was maybe 1/4 of a cup of pasta in the dish. I won't go on and on about it, but just suffice to say that aside from the long wait once we sat down, to even get water much less an actual order in was mind boggling. The music was loud and it's OK, it's a fun place, but when the CD started skipping and skipped literally for a solid hour they didn't turn the music off or turn it down, they just let the CD Skip for an hour! That also was mind-boggling. As far as the food, the taste was ultimately very good, however all of our food was cold, save the corn bread and the broccoli which had been microwaved to max heat. I think we were so hungry at that point that we didn't mind the food being lukewarm or flat out cold, we just ate. They were kind enough to give us approximately 10% off the bill for that inconvenience. Their drink menu is fun and whimsical, and I think if you were just going to go hang out have a few drinks and don't have any kind of timeline for the day, then you could have a lot of fun at this place. I've been to this location a handful of times. The wait is usually long and if you don't speak up they will forget you and put others in front of you. Ive only had the jerk chicken "white meat" rasta pasta which is really good. The environment is a nice vibe with a good selection of reggae/soca music. I was ambivalent about going here because there are some bad reviews about the service. However, that didn't stop me because the reviews for the food were all good. So I dragged my boyfriend here after walking around the boardwalk and let me tell you I am so glad I went here.I love yelp for introducing me to this place because of all the times I went to Coney Island I would have never come here or would I have ever known this place existed. We didn't have a problem with the service at all. The hostess was very friendly and guided us to the bar since there was more than an hour wait for a table. We didn't mind sitting in the bar and I prefer to sit in the bar anyway because it's closer to the drinks. Our bartender named Joanne was also very friendly. She was very attentive and even when it got crowded in the bar area she still tended to our alcoholic needs. The drinks will definitely get you right, I love their drink selection too. They have F@(k me hard and bend me over, red devil, cincinatti, help I've fallen & I can't get the F@(k up, the list goes on. For $9 to $12 for the drinks, you can't go wrong. Of course the rasta pasta is something to behold and eat, it is so good! I ordered the rasta pasta with the jerk chicken ($16), my bf found the chicken a bit spicy, but he still enjoyed it. As for me, I love it! It was perfectly delicious and I love that it has a bit of spice in it. Suffice to say, we ate every piece of our meal. I am looking forward to coming back and having more of the food and the drinks. P.S Love the music too, but when the live band comes in it gets too loud. Wonderful location. Delicious food. Waitress needs to work at the morgue. I have visited this location about 4 months ago and unfortunately got the same waitress. Her monotone voice and uncaring attitude are not good for what could be a very nice atmosphere. I have been to the island of Jamaica six times and the feel of the island is "no problem ", but here it appears that customers request are a problem. The waitress may need to just bus the tables and not have to speak to patrons. On a happier note, the jerk shrimp were delicious, the sautéed broccoli and carrots were awesome. The king fish was pleasantly seasoned. The cornbread is a nice offering when you are first seated. My suggestion is to eat at the bar when the not so welcoming waitress is there. read more
