We chose latitudes to celebrate our anniversary and we were more than impressed! The dinner plate presentation was so pretty, unique and truly delicious! I had the trout that was dotted with pickled peppers and mustard seeds with strings of dill throughout the cream. It was absolutely delicious. The servers were very accommodating and kind. Loved the work done since it was Portifinos. Door is odd but now we know. Hostess a doll. We went for a luncheon. There was three of us. We arrived early so we went up to the bar beautiful view. The bartender was just a Doll. A beer and 2 tiny margaritas $31 and change. Left to luncheon the drinks were really good so we ordered 2 more. A waitress went to go get them for us. We told her what we had just had. She seemed confused, but she was just the cutest sweetest thing. Comes back the drinks did not look the same again $31 and change. She left the two of us took a drink, and it was like watery cherry juice maybe? One in our group sipped hers to get the small pork chop fillet down. I don't drink mine. There was absolutely no way. It was a mixed drink, and there was absolutely positively no alcohol whatsoever taste in it. The salad was basic but good, the rolls were soft, the vegetable tray was over cooked and undercooked? It was odd. The potatoes were dry, the tortellini was good, salmon was good. Nothing actually stood out. Our meals were free so that helped ALLOT!!!!! As we were leaving, we seen the waitress who got our drinks and I had tipped her 10 bucks and I said that was the worst two drinks and biggest tip for what we got that was absolutely awful. And she was stunned and said sorry. I said no problem. I'll take it back up to the Bar. Unreal, same bartender from 1st drink. I set it on the bar and said this isn't the same drink you made like 1st time. She said oh the waitress must of used pre-made. Well it's awful and there was no alcohol. She said next time make sure you have us make it into front of you. Then you can see what you're getting. Alrighty. Done At the least put a shot in my watered down one and pacify me. They need to work on their carry-out service. Called multiple times to put in an order and finally got through on the 4th call due to a voicemail box being full. Confusing where to pick-up carry-out order. Like they were not prepared for business yet, even at 12p - lunch time. But the restaurant is beautiful and has great views of the water. The view is wonderful- worth going just for that view with the live music on the deck/ tiki bar area. You can relax in the Adirondack chairs really take it in. The peel and eat shrimp had good flavor, but were a little over cooked. The side salads and upgraded Caesar salads were plated on bread plates and not impressive at all but tasted fine. The Florida fresh Yellowtail Snapper was exceptional- great flavor, plated really nicely. The fish and chips were also excellent- I generally don't like fish and chips but these were good. The filet was cooked perfectly and also plated to be very pretty. It was exactly what I expected with a filet. The shrimp scampi pomodoro was also very nicely plated, and my daughter loved it. This is a hard review to write. I love this location, the aesthetic is pretty cool, it's on the water, the vibe is pleasant enough.... The dishes are great for presenting food and loved the logo on the wine glasses... However... Our service was mediocre at best; but I did see a couple other waitstaff that seemed very on top of their game and they were very attentive to their tables. So that was good to see. We sat over an hour before our food was brought to the table (they were not busy at all). After about 70 minutes we were provided some rolls with honey butter and a cherry "jam" - it was more like minced up cherry - and that was the best thing we ate! They should bottle that up and sell it! Normally you have to pay for the bread, but since we were waiting so long the manager gifted it to us. The lobster mac n' cheese was ranked 4 out 5. It was creamy and had good flavor with a decent amount of lobster. The chips of the fish and chips dish were a 10/10. Perfectly crisped and seasoned. The fish, nothing to write home about. A very not picky eater rated the fish a 2 out of 5. It looked overcooked to me. The gnocchi itself was like gnocchi should be, there was SO much pistachio pesto that it overwhelmed all other flavors in the dish. If I were to order it again I would ask for half the pesto amount. I'm really hoping the complimentary birthday cheesecake they brought out was not the full size dessert. It was very small, but it was very tasty. It was brûléed on top, had a sugar cookie style crust, and had a few berries and a compote. I know they haven't been open but a few months; I also know they are experienced restaurant owners and can do better. Went for the Stone Crab weekend and it did not disappoint 4 really large claws, drawn butter and a choice of lemon, lime or even a remoulad sauce if you choose. The sides are potatoes au gratin and the flavor was put of this world and a cranes spinach packed with flavor. Great service and attention to detail. I need this again. read more

Wow, this place has changed. It is enormous. The decor is very nice. The location of the door was a bit of a challenge. But once you know, you know. The good: The view of the river and the waitstaff were both nice. The glazed salmon was perfectly prepared and delicious. It sat atop some creamy puréed butter nut squash sauce and aside a sort of corn relish (if my memory serves). That's a lot of flavor, texture and all of it was wonderful. The New England Clam Chowder was so good and really hit the spot on a cold day. The room for improvement: The salad was not so crisp. Not that it was a disaster. But I felt it was experiencing early stage wilting. And there was no bread basket. It looks like a restaurant where you expect a bread basket and I wanted one next to my soup. But I like this place and the salmon was great. Yes, I would go back and yes, I will! This is the best, possibly the only fine dining downriver. read more

We had company from out of town and were trying to figure out the best place to go on a Friday afternoon for an early dinner/late lunch. All of a sudden it came to me a new place I had never been but wanted to try. Latitude. This is the old Portofino in Wyandotte on Biddle. Best decision I could've made. The day was beautiful, and the restaurant was the biggest hit of all. We started out with three shareables. The first one was Burrata Cheese, my absolute favorite. My only suggestion would be to add a little more of the delicious bread (which they did bring more when I asked, but we were also charged extra) and cut it all the way through. Next was the whitefish dip. Our son loved that one the best. It was delicious and would have been my favorite if I hadn't tasted the Burrata cheese. Lastly, was the calamari and shrimp. While I am not a big breaded and fried person, I did taste it and the calamari was cooked to perfection not chewy at all. The dip was absolutely delicious. Any one of the three is a hit in my opinion. For the entrée, my daughter-in-law and I shared a Michigan salad. The arugula could have been in smaller pieces but the taste was good. I don't think I would order it as a main course again though. Our son had the double cheeseburger and Rosemary french fries. Both were delicious and not only tasted good, but the presentation was very appetizing as well. My husband had the lobster mac & cheese. While he is not a big lobster person he did love the mac & cheese. He gave us the lobster which was very good. Luckily I saved room for dessert. I have to say that latitudes has the absolute best Keylime pie I've ever had. Even better than I've had in Key West. My daughter-in-law and I share the opinion "it was perfection". All in all I can't wait to go back again. The view is absolutely beautiful. The staff was great and accommodating. I also saw two steel drums in the corner, which I can't wait to hear. our guest loved the place and said they would go back again. My family had a delightful dinner at Lattitudes. We made a point of arriving in time for oyster happy hour. Rubi, our server, brought us a delicious dozen from the East Coast. The clam chowder is so good we have to order at least a bowl to share. Since it was Tuesday, we had to have the chicken Parmesan. The presentation makes it special. Rubi poured the melted cheese at our table to top off the chicken breast nestled in pasta and sauce. We had more than enough for dinner and looked forward to enjoying it again at home. Our favorite place to sit is in the atrium. The view of the river is very special, with ice flowing and bumping into the buoys. read more

Sorry. Food that I did get was average at best and certainly not worth the $100 for two even if the order was made correctly. We were a little skeptical about Latitudes bc we were not fans of its predecessor (Portofinos). It looks bigger and the new nautical decor is very nice. We were seated very quickly, it was a Monday night so not many people. The hostess and waitstaff were all very nice & welcoming. We sat by an open window with a beautiful view of the river, even at night. It was late so we just had appetizers. We enjoyed the fried calamari, clam chowder, crab cakes and a salad. We waited less than 10 mins for our food. The soup was cool so we sent it back to be warmed and that was quickly taken care of. (It still wasn't warm enough for me so we asked for a container to take it home.). Everything was very tasty, the servings were satisfying and I would have them all again. What an absolute delight discovering Latitudes last week! I can't stop thinking about the mouth watering key lime pie, cheesecake and the INCREDIBLE key lime pie cocktail!! It was truly one of the best cocktails I've ever had, they even used fresh key limes from Florida! "The Parker House" rolls with honey butter and Michigan cherry jam (and locally sourced!!) were out of this world and such a perfect start to the meal. I also loved the bluefin tuna crudo and the Michigan salad with grilled salmon. Everyone tasted fresh and delicious. What started as a simple lunch turned into a six hour affair because we enjoyed ourselves so much. The entire staff, especially Brenda and Elaina, were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience super special for my family. A huge shout-out to Chef Alan, whose farm-to-table approach and dedication to quality really is gonna make this restaurant stand out (it just opened one week ago). He even took the time to meet us and share some insights into his ingredients and process, which was very kind. And on one side of the restaurant, there's a sushi bar with beautifully, freshly prepared sushi rolls, adding another delightful dimension to the experience. The location is also unbeatable, with stunning river views that you can enjoy whether you're inside or out on the patio. I really recommend grabbing a seat outside and sipping on that fabulous key lime cocktail while taking in the view. This area is truly lucky to have a gem like Latitudes, and my friends, family, and I will definitely be returning. Five stars all around! read more

When we got there they had the bar area was closed as it was so slow. The waitress offered to seat us there and serve us even though she had to go all the way to the front bar for our drinks. This is such a lovely location so we were expecting good things. But no one in our group of four was excited about the dishes they ordered. Two of us had the fish and chips. I take responsibility for ignoring that the fish was not your typical cod or haddock. It said "local fish". The fish was okay but it didn't have the typical crunchy batter on the outside. My husband had the Michigan salad. The disappointment here was the pickled cherries. It's cherry season and there are so many sweet and tasty cherries available. Also, there was only five small strips of chicken. The fourth person ordered the hamburger. We laughed because it's topped with "chunky sauce" and we had to ask what that was. The overall opinion was the menu did not offer that many selections and then of course we didn't really like the ones we chose. I don't think we will be returning. read more

Came here to have lunch and check the place out to see if we wanted to have my daughter's upcoming birthday dinner here next month. Lots of negative reviews posted recently so wanted to come myself to try it. Atmosphere is very nice, atrium dining area is beautiful and the outside patio seating and chair area is also beautiful. Great atmosphere for a nice dinner. Food was average, not bad, not good. To sum the rest of it up: * Waitress had no clue about almost anything on the menu. Had to run back and ask the cook several questions. The menu should be known by waitress for the most part and not have to leave multiple times to check. * Menu is limited and didn't have a basic linguini or seafood pasta that you'd want at a waterside restaurant but did have a strong pesto gnocchi dish which is limiting to some guests * Expensive side salad that I ordered came out AFTER my entree. Typically people want their salads before the entree and other recent reviews also included this complaint. The house salad with sherry vinaigrette when brought was just a gigantic overly filled bowl of mixed lettuce with bland dressing and one huge chunk of a wilted looking tomato which STILL HAD PART OF THE PRODUCE STICKER ON IT. Glad I didn't eat that piece. Not the end of the world but for an expensive upscale restaurant that this place portrays, the tomatoes should be washed and stickers peeled before serving don't ya think * Kids meal didn't include the drink like most places. So I was charged for two lemonades even though the kids cup was a quarter of the size of a regular glass. Also, ordered the kids cheeseburger and it was a plain thin patty with the tiniest bit of melted cheese. I had to ask for lettuce and tomato which should automatically be served with it just like the adult menu cheeseburger. *Gnocchi pesto dish had large hard green chunks of what I initially thought was the hard raw ends of large asparagus pieces but turns out they are the bottom ends of broccoli stems (waitress asked the chef) -- not only are those flavorless but they were raw and super hard to chew. Like I was chewing a bamboo stick. Not sure if they're trying to be unique but maybe try asparagus tips or something else. Horrible idea. * After reviewing the check, noticed I was overcharged for the appetizer as the menu said one price but the check had another. When I showed the waitress she said "hmm let me ask" and returned and told me "sorry, you were accidentally charged for the dinner price instead of the lunch menu price even though it's the same thing" .... So they up the prices for the same appetizers after 4 pm because it's "dinner" but it's the same portion. I also shouldn't have to check and correct the prices on the bill. So make sure to review your check when you come here * Manager came around asking both tables next to us how everything was but skipped right past us for some reason *Waitress took the check with my card and disappeared for a good ten minutes. I was past ready to go and had an appt after on top of it. The waitress came and brought the check to the next table over within two minutes. I'm like did she pass out? Was she shopping with my card? Did she go on break? Why take ten minutes to run a card and leave people waiting. Rude. Overall, I'd go back to sit outside and try the Michigan salad with chicken or salmon but that's about it. Place could benefit from a few more options on the menu as well. Spent $115 for a starter, a kids meal with no drink, and two people and it was just average. This restaurant has been BEAUTIFULLY renovated! There are two bars, with panoramic views of the water. There is also a ton of outdoor seating. The food was fantastic! I've come several times now, the first time I had the heirloom tomato and watermelon salad-very flavorful and delicious. The dinner menu has something for everyone, seafood, a chicken dish and steak options. I also came here recently for brunch, it is RARE for me to have three items on the menu that I can't decide on. I had the Florida morning bruschetta, adding this to my list of favorites! I read some other comments about the service, I have nothing negative to say. Food- I ordered the jumbo shrimp and chips, the seasoning on the shrimp was terrible, no one in my party would eat it. The batter was so much that the actual shrimp was not cooked properly. The waitress was very nice and apologized, not her fault, and brought out two pieces of fish. By this time dinner was ruined. I cannot imagine what seasoning was used, but it was salty and spicy beyond eatable. I was not impressed with any of the food that our party had, 12 of us, too pricy for the quality. Regarding the ambiance, the new Latitudes did a great facelift of the old Portafino's. This was a much needed upgrade to the old and dated interior, so it was a good first impression. After our party of 4 was seated and ordered cocktails, we looked forward to our experience. Other reviewers have commented on pricing and I have to agree. This is downriver, not NYC! That said, we placed our orders with an expectation of enjoying a superb meal. Unfortunately, Latitudes completely under-delivered on food and service. The service was mediocre at best and none of us enjoyed our meals. We all had leftovers and no desire to bring anything home. I ordered Fish & Chips, which at $27 was probably the cheapest thing on the menu. However, pricing didn't influence my decision, I was really in the mood for Fish & Chips. Our waitress asked if everything was OK when she saw our half full plates. I never complain, but did tell her I was afraid to put a fork into the fish thinking it would squirt oil on me. She just said 'thanks for telling me.' It's just 'Okay'. However, in terms of competing against other local restaurants, it's not a good value. Overall a so-so experience which left us flat. We went to a buffet/comedy show last night for Sweetest Day. Delicious spread! They served chicken piccata that was to die for and the desserts were amazing. Fun night out as a couple. They had a separate room for the comedy show with no windows. The only downside was we didn't get to view the water in that room, but it was still a great meal. We will definitely go back for the water viewing and dinner. It was such a beautiful night we wish we had been on the patio, which looked amazing. Can't wait for the summer already! read more

My $38 Snapper fish dinner should have cilantro (which I like) in my white rice (not usually a fan of white rice); and the jalapeños and green tomato relish was non existent although the lime butter sauce was there. My aunt's fish (fish and chips) was heavily breaded. We will wait a little while before returning, because we do think they can work out the kinks. Our waitress was very good. read more

The new Latitudes restaurant is a nice upgrade from when it was Portifino's Two bars with a more open patio and view of the river. Food was quite good, especially the steak bite appetizer. Some menu items are rather high. The vegan mushroom melt sandwich was a bit disappointing - not much put in the middle and found the sourdough bread slices to be a rather tough to eat; fries were basic. The butternut squash soup was the best I've had - even for a restaurant version. We asked for just a cup, but when the service brought it, it looked a bowl size. I asked him, "is this the cup size?", he said 'yes". Two issues from our experience, though. First I left some of the squash soup to take home as a leftover; this other man (newbie or a manager in training; I couldn't tell for he always looked a bit lost) grabbed my bowl first before even asking me if he could take it. I said "no", that it's for take-home. He then offered to take it to be put into a plastic take-home bowl. I then said "Ok". However, when it brought that back, the amount looked less than what I had left. By that time, we had ordered butternut squash soup to take home, expecting the same amount. It was brought to us already in bagged up. Found later that the amount in the containers was (again) much less than what we had the first time. So, beware of ordering take-home soup; they seem to cheapen out by giving you less than what they serve in the restaurant. Service at the bar was so-so; they do need more than one bartender at the dinner hour to attend all the patrons. She was quite overwhelmed which made getting service delayed. That was not her fault; we blame management for that. Overall, that is the reason for the three stars. Though they have not been open all that long, they still have some issues to work on, especially when it (supposedly) has experience restaurant owners. Time will tell. read more
