I would never leave my car at this business again. Sharing my experience with Foreign Auto Repair. It's been a hassle that has taken so much time, money, stress. I took my BMW there with a coolant leak. The owner Juan was questionable from the beginning, telling me he needed to replace the Oil Filter Housing for $2600 to fix the leak. When I asked him to send pictures, he told me, "I don't have time for that!." I called another mechanic, who didn't need my business, but advised me to get my car out of this place if he said he didn't have the time to send pictures. I decided to have good faith since my car was already there. What a terrible call that was. Always go with your intuition. He completed it in one day and told me it was fixed but the car cont to leak for the next 6 months until the engine lost all its fluid a once and the engine shut down. I had it towed to BMW where they found that the major leak was coming from the Oil Filter Housing Gaskets and that whoever had done the work used after market and inappropriate parts for a high compression engine, and that's why it failed. Then I had to pay for the whole/same job to be done again, as a result. basically I had to pay for the work that Foreign Auto Care did, again, to have it done right, and Foreign Auto Care will not reimburse me. He told me I should have brought it back to him. Why would you take a car back to someone that 1. doesn't listen. 2. doesn't prioritize customer service. 3. did a bad job the first time, using inappropriate parts, and resulted in an engine shut down and the same job needing to be redone. The trust is gone at that point. That's not a reasonable thing to do. Just a smoke screen on his part. In addition, when I originally picked my car up after Foreign Auto Care replaced the Oil Filter Housing, the engine light was suddenly on. It wasn't on before. He ran a code stating he needed to do the spark plugs too. When he was done, the engine light came back on again. I took it somewhere else and they stated that the wrong spark plugs were used, and had to re do the spark plugs so engine light would go off. I had to pay for that twice as well and Foreign Auto Care refused to reimburse. It's all clearly documented and he won't take accountability, so I have to present it is small claims and with Bureau of Automotive Repair. read more

I paid over $3,000 for an over-heating issue with my BMW.....6 months after that I'm still having the same problem. I have not been driving the car that much because I'm a remote employee......I am beginning to wonder if anything was done to my car. I'll be taking my car there again this week I hope I was not ripped off simply because I'm a female who doesn't know much about cars.....It sickens me to my stomach to know that a Businessman will take advantage of a woman like this....$3,000 PAID and I didn't drive my car for a year and experiencing the same problem? read more

Super Disappointed!! The owner of the shop Carlos, was very disrespectful. Came in to get my car fixed from this guy and right away gave me attitude. We agreed on a claim and then he calls me after I leave and says that messed up the car and then he started a new claim. So it costed me 2x the deductible without my consent. I only agreed because he threatens me saying if we don't get that done my engine will crumble and will cost even more to repair. When it all got finished I checked up on my car and long and behold did a crappy job. If you need a "quick" fix go here and waste your money. This shop is money hungry and will find ways to hit you where it hurts rather than help you. I took my car in and the amount of help that I had from the employees was amazing. Immediately told me that something was wrong with my breaks and engine and that was why I was hearing squeaking noises from time to time. I was searching for a new shop for my bmw. It is hard to trust shops. I took a chance and took my car there. I can say that my experience at the shop was good. Carlos was very professional and got right to problem and explained word for word and showed me this issues with my car. Let's face it...car repair shops often get poor reviews because they are always charging too much for the amount of work that is done or you feel as thought they take advantage of you. This is NOT the case with Foreign Auto Care. A co-worker told me about Carlos when she brought here 1998 BMW 740i in. She immediately told me how comfortable she felt with Carlos and how he took the time to explain and show her everything. I have 2000 BMW 528i and decided to "test" Carlos out. My right passenger window mechanism was broken and wouldn't go up all the way. I was able to purchase the part but needed someone to install it for me. I asked Carlos if he would do that and he said no problem and just charged me labor. I then had a seal gasket that was old and making my engine smell like burnt plastic. He gave me a reasonable quote so I asked him to fix it. When I went to pick up my car, he said the gasket was old and it took his mechanic a little longer to remove and replace it. My first thought was I never received a call from him and I figured my bill would have extra $$$ since it took longer. To my surprise, he charged me exactly what he quoted. Finally I recently took my car in because my transmission computer went on the blink. Carlos tested it and told me I probably needed a new computer but he reset everything and told me to see if my warning light comes on again. He charged me $95 for the test. The warning light didn't come on for about a week so I brought it back to him. He tested it once again to make sure and told me the same thing but this time DID NOT charge me for the test. I ended up getting my transmission computer replaced and once again used him to do the work. Carlos is a very honest guy and NEVER makes you feel as though you are wasting his time when you ask him questions. He communicates great and will NEVER charge you more than he quotes. If he has to charge you more, he will call you first. I highly recommend Forein Auto Care. read more

I have been going to Foreign Auto Care in Concord for the last 10-12 years. They have been good mechanics and I found them to be honest. But recently, I found that they have slipped in their quality. I took my auto for the 60,000 mile service a few weeks ago. They charged me almost $900. The invoice was never clear on what was done. The bill is handwritten and almost illegible, with very little detail on the services performed. I was told that the brakes were fine. When I went to pick up the auto, I asked if the tires had been rotated? The answer was "they must have been rotated" - they did not remember !! I asked how much was left on the brake pads. Again, they did not remember - so they had to jack up the car again to check. When I was taken to the auto to see the brakes, the brake pads were very badly cracked and needed to be replaced. Now that was a shock !!! This means that they were never checked in the first place. They had no idea about the tires or brakes. This gives me a very scary feeling. My life depends on the tires and brakes. No one apologized for not doing the job they promised to do and were paid for, nor was I given any discount. This for any dollar amount is very poor service. For having paid $900, this was horrendous service. By the way, after this episode, I checked with a dealership on what they would have charged, and the dealership would have been $100 cheaper. Next time I will find another mechanic or go to the dealership. Foreign Auto Care has lost my business forever. read more

Whether you want stock or aftermarket part Foreign Auto Care will take care of you. Hard to find a mechanic that will put parts you bought for aftermarket application. Not a problem here. Domestic or foreign, in and out same day, great prices. Have taken my Saab since day one 176,000 mile still running strong. My Dodge Journey runs like when I bought it new. Carlos is a very good, honest mechanic with very good pricing. I've been taking my 4-Runner and Sienna to him for the past 5 years or so and he has always done great work at a very competitive cost. I'm one of those people who really knows nothing about cars and could easily be taken advantage of and finding an honest mechanic is so great. I have been a long time customer of Foreign Auto Care, and cannot think of another place I would rather take my BMW. The owner Carlos is honest, fair, and the rates are much better than if I took it to the dealer. They always do quality work, and he keeps track of what he did last (i.e. oil changes, air filters, etc.) so I always know what still needs to be done. They fix it right the first time, which is really what you want in an auto mechanic. As for the integrity of the owner, when I went into labor at his shop (seriously!) this man drove me to John Muir Hospital and waited for my husband and family to arrive. I agree with Johnny. I never had had a problem with Foreign Auto Care or Carlos the owner. I have an Acura and a BMW. I have taken my cars to Foreign Auto Care over the last 5 years. In 2011 I need to visit Carlos three times. On separate occasions, I had the BMW power steering pump and a vale cover gasket replaced and the A/C compressor. On the Acura I had the front rotors and pads replaced plus needed the timing belt replaced as part of the regular maintenance. In all cases the work was done very professionally, on time and for the cost agreed to. Plus, the car interior was clean (no greasy boot marks on floor mats ). Most importantly to me is that his prices are always less than the Acura, BMW or Wheel Works. Carlos has always done right by me, explained the problem and worked with me on a repair solution. I had Passat station wagon 2004 which turned into my nightmare with the dealer. I tried so many places but my care kept going back to the shop periodically and they kept my care for 2 days without working on my car!!! I was referred to one of my friends and on my last resort, I tried Foreign Auto Care. The owner, Carlos worked right away, called me with the diagnostics and provide fair and accurate price and turn-around time. There are so many funky business out there, it is nice to know that there are still a shop which care about the customer and the car they fix. They worked my care late at night so that I can use the car next day!! With a dealer, they usually tell me that their workers are low so that they cannot work on my car until maybe next day. I was next door getting my oil changed when it was noticed that my car was leaking oil out of its differential. The oil change people (Midas) didn't work on differentials, but brought over Carlos (owner of Foreign Auto Care, who is next door) to view the situation. I was driving through Concord late on a Friday afternoon when my check engine light came on. I went to Foreign Auto Repair and explained to Carlos that I was driving through on my way to Denver.. Carlos diagnosed the problem ( a faulty coil & spark plug), got the parts from the dealer and had me back on the road in less than a couple of hours. read more

This shop has gone down hill in the last few years. I took my Honda Accord in for a front brake job and later found out they put the cheapest pads on the car. Additionally he told me I needed new rotors. I took the car to another shop and was told the rotors were fine... Simply can't trust this place. read more

This is probably the most dishonest auto care service in the east bay when I brought in my wife's car in May 2019, I specifically asked for a full diagnostic, SPECIFICALLY mentioned to check that the Pulleys condition due to my wife hearing squealing noises. After the work was done to her vehicle I re confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the pulleys and was given the RE ASSURANCE that nothing was wrong with them. A week later my wife kept mentioning that the squealing noise is still there, I let her know that the car was in good condition since Carlos reassured me that there was no additional work needing to be done to the car. Fast forward two months of her kept mentioning the same squealing noise I finally decided to look under her car to find out she was right along! Since I don't drive the vehicle and I'm barely home, I was very upset that I didn't take my wife's word and instead decided to take the word of Carlos the owner of the shop. My wife and kids have been in danger driving all for what... so that we bring the car back with more problems and to pay for additional labor when the pulleys could of been fixed right there and there... Had major service done @ foreign auto and regretted it. The work done caused several other problems, the car wasn't put together cleanly and I had to return to the shop several times. The owner refused to fix issues he caused during the major work. I don't recommend this place for major service work. read more
