I was at the Museum of Natural Science for the Mixers and Elixirs event when I got hungry and decided to check out the food trucks that were camped outside the museum. When I was checking out the Foreign Policy truck, my eyes gazed upon the little blackboard easel that said, "DONUT BACON CHEESEBURGER". What?!! Bacon Cheeseburger on donut buns? I had to ask for myself and yes, it was confirmed. They used Glazed donut buns that are slightly grilled to in place of regular burger buns. For $9, hell yeah! GIVE ME ONE! With a side of seasoned fries for an extra $3. The line was kind of long when so my order took a little while. I think it took almost 20 minutes before I finally received my order. But when my tongue first met mr. donut glaze combined with the crispy bacon and the gooeyness of the cheese and mr beef who had pleaded for me to eat more chikinz, I was like, "why didn't I think of this?!' You combine a high-calorie fried dough sweetness with high-calorie bacon and high-calorie cheese with high-calorie beef and you get high-calorie awesomeness. Let's not forget that the fries were super good. Great seasoning on crisp, crunchy fries. Yep, I was loving it. Prices were reasonable for a food truck because we all know that food trucks are more on the expensive side. But I didn't mind shelling out the $12 for my burger combo. Will be back! But Belly, why only four stars? Why not a full five? Well, as good as the burger was, if it hadn't been aided by the Donut, I think the burger would only be a little above average. And I still think Stanton's and/or Bernie's are still superior to this. Now, stop your whining and just eat your bur-nut. Yes, I totally just made that up. And no, it's not cheesy. Pun intended! P.S. You know a food truck has a good following when you can just search "food trucks" on Yelp and Foreign Policy comes up in the top five listings. I went down to the Avenida (near the GRB) for a free concert as part of Comicpalooza. I was starving when I got there and I didn't really have many options. Luckily they had burgers which I was craving. Unfortunately half of the menu items were crossed off so I didn't have as much of a variety to choose from. I was also not happy to see the price of $15 for one burger. I'm not sure what they normally charge for burgers, but $15 was pretty steep. You can tell that they up-charged because of the convention. The prices were written in dry erase marker. Luckily the burger is massive (1/3 lb) and delicious so I was able to get over the initial shock of spending $15 on one burger. They will let you customize the order. I had the Texas Policy Burger sans jalapenos. They gave me a little pager so I didn't have to wait around directly in front of the truck. I didn't have to wait too long before my burger was ready. When I got it, it was so hot, that I couldn't pick it up. I tried to eat it off the plate without lifting it but I looked silly so I just had to patiently wait for it to cool down lol. I had a fork, but no knife so it was agonizing having to wait when I was already starving! Once it did cool down, it was amazing! The bacon and grilled onions with the jalapeno ranch (not spicy) was sooo good. I could only eat half of it which was honestly more than I thought I was going to be able to eat. They handed it to me on a paper plate and I didn't want to throw the other half away. Unfortunately a storm was rolling in so my friend was able to get me some foil to wrap my burger up. I totally ate the rest of it a few hours later when I got home and it was just as good. I want to try the doughnut burger so hopefully the next time I come across this truck, it will be available! read more

Simple. The best gyro and loaded fries I have ever had in Houston. I got the Greek Gyro and Greek loaded fries and they were soooo good. I have to admit the gyro doesn't feel Greek but nevertheless, it's is delicious. It has the perfect amount of spicy and the meat is cooked so well. The loaded fries with gyro meat were a success. Honestly, I didn't have a chance to eat much of the fries because my group of friends devoured them in less than 1 minute. Above all, the prices are extremely reasonable. My lucky night. I was headed home from work and the truck was located in my neighborhood. Decided to stop by and see what they served. I ordered a Korean pita wrap but as a salad since I don't eat pita. I ordered a Korean burger for my wife. It only took about 5-10 minutes for my order to be ready and the staff was kind and funny. The only thing I regret is not ordering more food! That salad was amazing. The Korean beef..... so tender and flavorful, absolutely magnificent. The spicy Mayo on top really took it to the next level. My wife enjoyed the burger as well, which was basically the same thing (Korean beef, onions, cheese, kimchi sauce, spicy mayo, siracha) on a bun. Can't wait to try this again. read more

I have now achieved a unique culinary experience known as the donut burger. Better yet, the day before July 4th to show my patriotism and love for all things American. The concept is pretty self-explanatory: replace burger buns with grilled donut buns and you have yourself fa donut burger. This one came with cheese, bacon, and onions. At first the combo of sweetness and saltiness freaked me out but then I started feeling it. Only bad part was the hot donut started getting stuck on the inside of my mouth. The food truck was scheduled to come to my neighborhood, so the location was convenient. 3 minutes from my house. I ordered ahead the night before and the burger was freshly prepared at my agreed pick up time. I had the Korean Burger and a side of Mexican fries. The burger was very large 1/3 lb plus a pile of the bulgogi sliced beef on top. I could not finish it. The Mexican fries were very good with jalapeños, taco meat, onions, and guacamole on top. My only upgrade would be for them to double fry the French fries to make them more crunchy with the toppings.. What a conundrum of flavor explosivity that tastes so good it has me creating new words to describe the complexity of flavor. I ordered the Mexican Fries which is a culmination of flavors that includes Mexican beef and pork fajita steak, nacho cheese, grilled onions and green peppers, cilantro, fries, and a drizzle of Mexican hot green salsa. The salsa that is drizzled in top is mild so those sensitive to spice will be fine. The fries are perfectly crisped even with the heaping amount of toppings, they stood up to the challenge. The queso was flavorful and not too salty. The meats were well seasoned and not overpowering. The ingredients were perfectly balanced and provided great compliment to one another. The guys on the truck were super nice and I received my food within 5 minutes of ordering. Burgers. Burgers everywhere. From various nations, it's like having Korean, Mexican, Italian, and Greek restaurants all in one place. I've been fortunate to have Foreign Policy grace Rice campus with its presence every week. Here's the breakdown: Pros: 1. Extremely friendly staff. The person taking orders always looks happy and doesn't hesitate to start conversation with you. 2. Various burgers inspired from different nations. My personal favorite is the korean burger! The burger itself is fairly large, and the bun is very buttery. The beef was heavily seasoned with spices and I think the kimchi sauce really tied everything together. DELICIOUS! Cons: 1. Price and time. Sadly, like the vast majority of food trucks, the prices are pretty steep, and service can be very slow. 2. Very greasy. Pretty self explanatory, but you're probably eating burger and fries so it's what I expected. 3. This might be just my own personal problem, but I love Italian food. Sadly, they only offer the Italian burger on weekends, so I haven't had a chance to try it. Foreign Policy isn't exactly life changing, but they make very interesting and delicious burgers. I think the menu set up is pretty creative. Read some complaints about the menu set up, but to me it's pretty simple. Pick a style, then pick fries, burger or taco. Not that hard. Loved the Greek fries, Mexican taco & the Korean burger the most. None in my direct crew were bold enough to go for the Donut Cheeseburger, but another co-worked tried it & said it was pretty good. I've only tried their Korean Pita, but this thing is HEAVENLY. Whether you're a fan of Korean food or not, this is a must-try--as is probably the rest of the Korean foods on their menu. Seriously, I'm not sure if they put crack in here or not, but I gobbled that damn thing down in under 90 seconds and went back downstairs for ANOTHER Korean Pita, and I made sure to get extra meat this time. My girlfriend who has never had much exposure to Korean food LOVED the Korean Pita as well, so you don't have to be an Asian food connoisseur to devour this thing. Visited the truck this afternoon at the Houston Food Park on St. Emanuel around 12:30. It was my first visit to the Park and there were a ton of trucks to choose from. I was drunk when I had Foreign Policy but I've been dreaming about those fries since. I came across this food truck at a food truck festival at Hermann Park for a late dinner. I didn't get anything crazy off the menu, only some cheesy bacon fries. When your side orders are this delicious, you know that's a good sign. Rather than sharing my fries like I should've, I ate close to 75% of the fries in my drunken state. The rest of the menu looked great, I'll have to stop by for some of the main dishes. I've been seeing the photos of the food being tweeted out by this truck and finally decided I just had to try them. The girlfriend and I drove down to the Houston Food Truck Park where we found Foreign Policy with a few other trucks. We immediately decided on the Bacon Doughnut Cheeseburger. We each ordered one but no fries. Our burgers came our after 5-6 minutes and they were beautiful. Words cannot describe how amazing a burger looks nestled in between a donut. We sat down and I immediately attacked mine with the ferocity of a wolf attacking a wounded rabbit. I devoured that sucker and it was a delicious pairing of salty and sweet and the bacon added a nice little crunch. I also have to compliment them on their choice of cheese. If I had any complaint it would be that the party should have been thicker and a little less spread out so it didn't hang off the donut bun as much. At my work's recent anniversary party, they had Foreign Policy Food Truck as a caterer for the event. Until then, I had never heard of Foreign Policy, but I did find out from one of my coworkers that they've been around for quite some time. Foreign Policy offers gourmet fusion burgers, fries, & pitas inspired by Korean, Greek, Mexican, and American cuisine. I saw they had a Donut Burger on their menu that I really wanted to try, but unfortunately they weren't offering it that day. Thus, my second choice was to go for the Korean Spicy Tenders, which is crispy chicken tenders glazed with Korean bulgogi BBQ sauce, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, spicy Korean sauce, green onions, cilantro, and kimchi with a side of seasoned battered fries. There were so many flavors in this and it all tasted amazing together. I'm a big sucker for kimchi, so next time I'm asking for an extra serving of it. I highly recommend you check out this food truck, it's comparable to Oh My Gogi. They have very similar offerings, but Foreign Policy puts their own twist on their Korean-Mexican fusion food. This truck visited my apartment building, so I gave it a shot. My boyfriend and I both ordered a donut burger, since, it's a donut burger and used a Yelp coupon to get a free side of fries. Come on! The wait wasn't too long (about 10 minutes) and all the food was fresh and hot. I was hesitant on spending $12 on a burger, but I don't regret it! The burger was delicious was with the perfect melty cheese. It was so filling and large that I was even able to save some for the next day (it reheats very well, by the way!). So our deli in our office closed and the building is bringing in food trucks to supplement. Today FP rolled in and after reading many reviews, I knew I had to try it. This truck has just a few items but every one of them you want to try, so after much thought, I went with the Korean Fries. These were absolutely delicious! Just enough siracha, spicy mayo, and melted queso to flavor these crispy fries but not too much where they got soggy. The meat was perfectly portioned and delicious. I can only imagine how good this would taste after a night on the town haha!! I definitely will be tracking these guys down to try more of their cuisine such as the donut burger and some of their Greek offerings. We went to this truck at the Haak Winery food truck festival last night and it was the worst experience of the summer. We paid $35 for five adults to get into the festival and were never able to see anything but the food truck lines. There were only five food trucks with hundreds of people and the wait was ridiculous. First we waited on line for over an hour only to find out they were out of more than half the things on the menu. Then, after waiting over an hour for our food, the truck workers couldn't tell us how much longer it would be before we got our food. The food truck worker told us "it'll take as long as it takes." And that we "should've known it would be like this." At that point we asked for our money back. We had young children with us and it was now past 9pm and we needed to get them fed. He refunded our money, but not our tips. Very disappointing; customer service clearly isn't a strong point for these people. read more
