This place was pretty incredible. We were able to sit outside on the patio (which at the Rome was enclosed because it was a cold night). We brought our own bottle of wine and paid the corkage fee which was super nice that the restaurant offered that as an option We started with the garlic bread was so incredible! I ended up getting gnocchi as my main course and I was very happy with my choice. Everything about the sauce and texture was fantastic. When we are in town this is favorite restaurant for dinner. We have been here many times and the service and food has always been spot on. We have tried most of the dishes and I must say my favorite is the Chicken Marsala which happens to be my all time favorite. I have only had the lamb ribs. The ribs are good. $42 a meal. The problem I have is the calamari appetizer. They give you MAYBE a dozen very small rings, and then they throw them onto top of pile of nasty looking romaine! It looks like you're getting a basket full of calamari when you are definitely not getting anywhere near the amount of calamari you should be getting for the price they charge! The food is fabulous and the service is just as good. We had a huge party - while most restaurants weren't willing to seat a huge party of 26 (with 16 kids). But they set up a tent for us in the parking lot and were so accommodating. The cioppino is fabulous with lots of mussels and calamari and fresh lobster and the broth was so delicious. A dead fly in my chicken cesar salad. Disgusting and gross. I'm extremely disappointed not entirely because there was a dead fly in my salad but how the staff handled this. the pizza here was great and is up there with the best we've had in orange county. highly recommend it 50/50: the sauce on this dish was magnificent, however the pasta itself felt like it was made by machine vs. hand so it had a very uniform consistency to it that wasn't as enjoyable for us the butternut squash ravioli was unexpectedly outstanding; not that i haven't had a good one before but theirs is very sweet in a great way and could probably function as your dessert if you wanted (which we'll probably do next time because the dessert we ordered was only so so) the bread they give you at the beginning is also really good, but they served the pesto/olive oil dip for it on a plate so it kinda went everywhere and all over the table some misses for sure but the hits were true hits thank you for the wonderful food! we will be back again soon read more

First time here. Since everyone is worried about "social distancing" or whatever you need to call it, Pirozzi is doing fine in that realm. Having said that, the outside seating could use some TLC for sure. The hostess was super chippy and seated us pretty quickly in the bar area next to the huge open window which was nice. Server came right over and offered some water while we surfed they menu for drink and food. The free bread could use an upgrade. That ain't fresh bread. That's frozen warmed up flavor. The pesto was surprisingly good and tasty considering I'm not a pesto guy at all. Drinks came out pretty quick. Food was ordered and on the table within 15-20 minutes which was perfectly fine, we were not in a rush. Taste? Could go with less tomato watered "sauce" and add some spices and flavor. Can't always rely on the food to have the flavor you're wanting your customers to experience. Overall: food 8/10 could use some tweaking on sauces and flavor depth but certainly good choice in the combination of items on the plate Drink 6/10 ($14 for one rum and coke). Plenty strong but just overpriced for a single. WAAAAY overpriced. Waiter: James H. Dude was spot on and knew his stuff. Cozy, intimate and true northern Italian cuisine. Their green sauce seems pesto but is not, I enjoyed it so much that forgot to ask about the ingredients. I must begin this review with pointing out that this place has the BEST butternut squash ravioli in the entire world! The buttery sauce combined with crunchy sage leaves was simply heaven. Although it is listed as an appetizer, it is definitely filling enough to serve as an entree. Unfortunately I had to give this place three stars because it is extremely small and crowded. My hubby and I were seated at a small table and could barely talk to one another because it was so noisy. the waitress sat a group of three people next to us and it was extremely awkward as one guy's rear end kept hitting our table as he tried to get through and knocked over my purse that was hanging on the back of my chair. When you're eating, you can't help but make awkward eye contact with the people at the surrounding tables, not to mention hear all of their conversations. This definitely isn't a place for a first date. The bathrooms are single stalls and close to the kitchen. If someone is in the bathroom, you have to wait by the door and try to dodge all of the servers and bus boys walking to the tables from the kitchen. read more

I came here upon a friend's recommendation to celebrate our January birthdays together. There is also a location in Laguna Beach! This one is located on PCH, so you have to park on the street. All their pasta is homemade. It truly does make a difference. You can't find that at too many places in South OC. After one visit, I already want to return, and now it's one of my favorite Italian restaurants. They might just have the largest pasta menu I have ever seen-I could not decide! Butternut Squash Ravioli ($11): MUST-ORDER APPETIZER. Tiny portions (they are literally bite-size) for the price, but nonetheless, delicious. Spaghetti Verde ($23): Arugula infused spaghetti (sounds weird, but it tastes like pasta, just looks green). I ordered this because I wanted a shrimp pasta. I also love arugula, so what better than this arugula infusion/topped pasta. I was afraid it would be too spicy because of the Peruvian peppers and Calabrian chili but it was very MILD. The sauce was amazing: light and lemony. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Baked Ziti ($21): My sister ordered this. It was cheesy, but the meatballs were delicious. Pink Farfallina ($18): My dad's order. If you are not very adventurous with your eating, this pasta has pretty basic ingredients but is still tasty. Orecchiette ($21): My mom loved this dish! Fettuccine Alf ($16): It's three different colors! This is a lighter version of the caloric classic...at least it tastes much lighter. It is definitely not drenched in sauce. I had a bite, and it was very yummy. Tiramisu: Served in a martini glass? Not very photogenic, but it's a tiramisu alright. And delicious at that! Salted Caramel Gelato: Our birthday treat! Made in-house, topped with black salt. I loved this; I wanted another scoop! It's the perfect, small dessert. We sat outside on the covered patio (with heaters). Our waiter was humorous and the service was timely and attentive. There was a mixup in the desserts, but we ended up getting a chocolate lava cake for free, even though we didn't ask for it. Absolutely amazing food. We came here for my father's birthday and everyone loved everything that we ordered. The menu is kind of huge so we asked our server for the most popular dishes, and nothing disappointed (The exception was there margarita pizza which was a little under done and a little floppy, but the only person who wanted pizza actually liked their pizza that way so it worked out perfectly). The ambience was great, the service was great, if if you come here to only order one thing, it is the lemon pasta with shrimp.
