Stopped here after headhouse farm market for a quick bite. pandan(?) coconut latte Iced: very good, does have a bright green syrup happening. not quite sure what that is about. Iced vanilla matcha latte: good! some matcha's are very grassy, this is not. frankford sandwhich: I didn't eat this, but I was told the egg was very good. Parfait: comes in a plastic cup very decent size! granola is kept separately so it's not soggy, and the jam/ jelly was strawberry I think. very good. house biscuit: we got this warmed up, with the add on of apricot jam and butter. my only thing is 1. the jam is in a pre done? container. you know the tiny little jam jars? and the butter add on was just a small butter packet you get at a hotel breakfast, and cold so not super spreadable. my only thing is that for add ons, i'd hope the jam and especially the butter were more quantity for a add ons charge. the actual biscuit itself was very good, fluffy, crispy, the top layer has some nice sea salt I really enjoyed. generally, would try again, especially would like to try an egg sandwich. I do think it's not totally worth it to frequently order their food. our bill for all of that was $50. as for drinks, i'd totally get a seasonal drink from them often. I think their drinks are very reasonably priced and great quality. other things to note: their menu online is not really indicative of what's actually being sold in store since they do a lot of seasonal things! I do wish they had a larger menu posted in the store. when you walk in, there very well might be a line at the register, as there was for me, and the menu they have displayed is very small, arguably the tiniest font, right in front of the register where people stand to order. so, if you want to plot what you are getting before hand, you either have to kinda nudge through people to get a picture, or just wait until you're in the front of the line. they have a lot of wall space, so I think a chalk board could be beneficial for them. service from the guy at the register was very helpful and kind. and all people behind the bar were working quick. took almost no time to get all of our stuff. read more

I stopped here to pick up some coffee for my walk around south Philly, and I'm so glad I did. Thanks to the super friendly barista, I ended up with this pandan iced latte (yes, it's naturally that color). It was sorta vanilla-y with some earthiness to it as well. Will definitely be back to try some other things! They have a decent seating area inside and some tables outside. I noticed a lot of people working on a computer while there, so it would be doable if that's your thing! read more

I stopped in on a snowy Sunday around noon. The cafe was light and bright, had plenty of seating, and no line. The friendly worker told me every pastry in the display - I went with an almond croissant although all the choices looked great. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk and the breakfast sandwich, no mods. My order was ready quickly. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich - delicious crunchy soft bread but I should have gotten some kind of sauce. The latte was fine, not the best ever, and the croissant was good. Id definitely stop by to try more of the food options if I was in the area. read more

I had the saddest looking chocolate croissant the other day. Looks like they ran out of chocolate while making it. Their mocha was good but they seriously need to update their mug selection - most boring cups I have seen at a cafe. I did mention the items were for "here" and the barista did not even offer me a proper plate or napkins for my croissant - had to get the napkins myself. Also, the coffee trail on the outside of the mug wasn't my doing - I am not sure but aren't they supposed to clean it up? Sometimes I hate I have to pay a 20% tip on top of the outrageous cafe prices these days and also do all the work myself. Was definitely my last time here. read more

Not our usual stomping ground for lunch, but it ended up definitely serving its purpose. We grabbed two sandwiches and a cookie. The most important aspect of the sandwiches was the baguettes, which were delicious. Crispiness level was perfect and it honestly didn't even matter what was inside. The Forin baguette with ham/butterGouda was good but I preferred the huli huli chicken (Hawaiin BBQ chicken) more just because it felt more interesting. The ube cookie was divine. Would eat again for sure. The cafe itself as an atmosphere is just a cafe. The wait was strangely long for the food, which was a bummer. And I don't know that I would necessarily come here to study or do anything more than just have a sandwich. read more

This is a hard review because I vaguely generally like Forin (I used to stomp the grounds of Fishtown), but I had a not-so-great experience at South Street today. While waiting for my order, I watched one of the employees making food orders for other customers. First, there were no gloves involved. That's not bad in itself, because bare hands can be equally or more hygienic than gloved hands. But the problem was there was a lot of hands. The employee picked up buns with their hands. Put bacon on by the slice with hands. Tested the temperature of the egg/frittata by sticking their fingers into it. Realized that one sandwich order didn't include bacon so peeled that bacon off (with their fingers) and put it back in the service line after it had already been cooked on another customers sandwich. Then touched computer screens, table tents, plastic packaging etc. with those same fingers. Nary a hand was washed once, although a lot of rubbing was done on a grimy looking towel by the seemingly unused sink. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse (than someone sticking their fingers into eggs) another employee came from the back to the food line and started helping. Maybe there's a sink in the back -- I don't know. But he certainly walked right past the sink in the front. And then started handling food with bare hands. While drinking a personal drink (canned sprite) on the line, which he placed on the same prep area that the other employee had been using just before. Again, I don't think bare hands are inherently bad. But most of the things that were being done could have easily been done with a spatula, tongs, or waxed paper. And even if there is a sink in the back, if you're going to raw dog food, then you need to put on the handwashing show. Wash your hands where the customers can see it. And never, ever come out of the back drinking a canned drink and then immediately place hands on someone's food. I told all of this to the manager on the spot. He listened and apologized, but I didn't get an "all hands on deck to fix this problem" vibe. I'll probably go back because of the coffee. That's why I'm still giving them three stars. But I'll never eat there unless there are some... assurances made. read more
