Vibes- they played indie, jazz, chill music. The shop wasn't loud (neither the music) so I could hold a conversation with my friend. Few working outlets so come with your electronics charged lol. Came here a few times during my trip to Philly. Their coffee is okay when I got no flavoring with the iced espresso. They use the Monin syrup brand. I didn't ask if they make any syrups in house but I think they don't. I do like the little cup for iced espresso, it was so ridiculous it made me smile with teeth! read more

Went to cheer the half marathon today and walked in here right at 8 when they opened. It was the PERFECT place to watch the runners and grab a delicious hot cup of coffee. I'm boring and got plain black with oat milk, but they had a great selection. The big standout was the employees, who not only were NOT annoyed with all of the people coming in with simple orders to watch the race, but also encouraged it. Double expresso with caramel flavor, decaf cappuccino with caramel sauce, lemon poppyseed and a chocolate chip zucchini bread ~$16 so I paid $20 kept the coins and rest as a tip. Firstly this definitely a no frills coffee shop. There's nothing prime except the location. Dry is a word that describes my experience including the bread. My expresso did not have caramel syrup but I'm not going to be the angry black personality. I just won't ever patronize this business. The man that made my beverage was not personable and I would almost ascertain that he was having a bad morning because it nearly 1pm. I get it but I'm not getting regular coffee like I've heard most customers order. Needless to say my cousins decaf cap for tasty and good could taste the caramel unlike mine. The interior is charming and the baked goods are good(!), but nothing else about Last Drop excels in a meaningful way. The barista raised her voice at me and gave off very bad, rude vibes. My iced americano had an extraordinary amount of ice -- like shockingly substantial. It was good, I guess? But there was hardly any of it! The rose pistachio cookie was exceptional, but it wasn't made in-house, so I can't give them all of the credit for that. Cute little coffee shop that has an arty vibe. The staff, 2 baristas, were friendly enough, one smiled throughout the transaction while the other seemed a little less than thrilled to be interacting with people. I asked for recommendations as today, (5/5) was first time here. The smiling barista gladly recommended a matcha latte, whilst the other did not offer me a recommendation, but instead turned my attention to the drink menu by pointing toward it. I decided to order a simple black iced coffee and a lemon poppyseed muffin. The coffee was good as could be to my standards, as I'm not a heavy coffee drinker. The muffin, however, was egregious. It was extremely thick and almost had the same consistency as Play-Doh. Only took one bite before deciding to toss it. It's not apparent if they make the pastries and other baked goods in-house, or if they outsource them. I'm not sure if I would recommend due to the overall experience. read more

I am honestly shocked this place is still in business. I've come in here a few times over the last four years and every single time the staff is unfriendly. The Yelp reviews confirm what I've always wondered about- is it just me or are they this rude to everyone? So let this be a notice to others interested, that this coffee shop (amongst others in the city) does not have wifi. however, I thought the place was very cute and quaint. I enjoyed the interior and the mismatched tables. It is not the largest cafe, but it does well for groups of 3-5, if you find a lucky spot. I received a recommendation from a esthetician I visited while in town. She stated the coffee was good. She reported they also had food. The location was within walking distance so we gave it a try. I had the Toynbee everything bagel and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Both were great. The bagel was exceptional! I never had such a combination. Last Drop sits very high on my top 5 list of coffee shops because I've adored every beverage I've ordered from them, but I swear they must torture their baristas in the morning because every single one is pathetically miserable and unreasonably rude. It's borderline comedy to watch them roll their eyes every time they take an order, or a customer dare asks a question concerning the sloppy looking menu. Any other coffee shop I tip 20%, because barista's deal with a lot throughout the day, but I've stopped at last drop. Why would anyone give supplementary money to someone who looks like they want to spit on you for doing business with them? Everyone has bad days, but the poor baristas (literally every single one of them) over at the last drop must have bad days 24/7! We walked up to look at the menu and they opened the window to take our order, the guy was super nice and made our coffees in less than two minutes, and we were done. Unprofessional and rude service on June 21, 2021 at 2:00pm. Server asks "do you want to put a tip on the card?" which is an inappropriate question you do not ask a customer. A tip is at the discretion of the customer and for the customer to initiate his or herself. The pressure of the server is provocative and not necessary. When I declined, the server slammed shut the window right in my face. This is totally disgusting and uncalled for. I will not going back to this cafe. read more

I discovered this place during high school in the mid-to-late 90s and was excited to visit again when I moved to the neighborhood in my 30s. Well, my excitement was shot to hell by the incredibly rude young woman who worked the counter (this was pre-COVID-19, so maybe she's gone now). I felt as though she was judging everything about me while stabbing me with imaginary daggers. I clearly wasn't cool or hip enough to enter her coffee shop. I no longer have purple hair and I'm also friendly, so I understand that between my natural hair color and smile I was probably threatening to her. Anyway, when I spied brownies on the counter and asked if they had nuts, she asked, "Do you have a nut allergy?" When I told her I did not, she said, "No, they don't have nuts." (I just don't care for nuts in brownies.) I bought one, paid quickly, and left as fast as I could to escape her evil vibe. Then I removed the plastic wrap and bit into the driest, most flavorless, rock hard brownie! And it had nuts!!! She knew that. She did it on purpose. Never have I felt so unwelcome in any store in my life! She ruined a place I had adored as a kid. I haven't been back since and will never return. On the other hand, she made me happy that I outgrew my dislike and judgment of those I viewed as conformists, i.e., "normal" or "conventional." Hopefully she follows a similar path in life. It's a much easier and more pleasant way to live. But, yeah, I'm not ever returning to The Last Drop. The place lost its luster after that encounter. I would actually go to Starbucks over this dump, and I don't care much for Starbucks' baked goods or coffee. Given the number of other great coffee shops in the neighborhood, I've experienced no sense of loss over never setting foot in this joint again. I'm new to Philadelphia and trying every decent coffee shop I can find. I live a block away now and this one was next on my list. Well, it's a one time experience. Came into the store and due to COVID the setting is different. Nobody inside . Upon entering the store, barista shows up. No "good afternoon how can I help". Instead she said "did you order online"? No I did not because I didn't know that was the process. No problem- I ordered and paid online. I then started reading these Yelp reviews. It's what everyone else said... employees are rude to customers. The drink (cappuccino) was put on the coubter but she didn't say anything so I didn't know. 3 mins later I walked up and saw my coffee waiting for me. 3 stars because the coffee was reasonable and truth be told, I have had worse experiences. read more

Stopped in on a whim as I was slightly late. It was about 7:15am, so the expectation was already I'm probably the 1st container and they're probably still setting up. I entered and was greeted by the barista. Pretty standard greeting no problems here. With my assumption I was correct she was still setting up things. I ordered a coffee but I failed to realize there was a 3$ limit. She apologized & thanks me for understanding as I grabbed an bakes item to hit the card limit. The barista didn't really pay any mind as I signed and didn't offer a receipt... I had to say thank you in order for her to a knowledge me. I was also not offered a receipt. That left a sour taste. That's a star gone unfortunately. I took away a half stars because there wasn't any sugar, and the sugar in the raw was quite old to the point it didn't come out of the container and was clumped together. This was a bit disheartening. Literally nothing came out. It's weird Becca use all the creams were filled. Coffee is standard at best, maybe a little lower quality, but if sufficed. The cake that I had to buy to reach the card limit was dry and seemed a day or so old, which is unfortunate because I didn't really want it in the 1st place. Interesting that this place has so many bad reviews...I go pretty regularly as I work around the corner. The staff doesn't act any different than any bar, restaurant or shop in the area. I go at 8-9 am....most people are not awake at that time. What the hell happened to you Last Drop? You used to have stellar baristas who made lattes that made it worth getting up and going to work for. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe my client standing me up five minutes before our expected meeting of 10 am put a bitter taste in my mouth? Thanks by the way for still having that big ol' clock. Because my phone is my clock and the clock gave me the exact time so I could politely tell my ex-client that it was 9:57 and that I don't think I'm going to be ever picking out color swatches or patterns for their lovely home. Luckily I had the latte set in a to-go cup, but as I ambled away down to 9th and Bainbridge I chucked it away and had another at chapter house which makes a better latte. However, if you talk in Chapterhouse you are often glared at. You really can only hang out there if you are reading or studying. Last Drop is really much better for having conversations. read more

I studied here quite a bit this summer studying for the Bar exam during my coffee shop study spot tour of Philly. Of the probably 10 places I tried, it was good...right until the last drop! Pros -Big windows. -Large tea selection and decent food. -Rarely had a problem finding a seat and there's extra seating downstairs. -Magic gardens-esque bathroom and generally quirky/edgy decor. -I never felt pressured to leave like at some other coffee shops that don't appreciate studiers. Cons -This is a coffee shop that people actually go to, so if you're trying to study, there might be an old man interviewing a very annoying loud girl for an unpaid art internship next to you. -The barristas are not *super* friendly, but the one did consistently remember my order after 2 days or so. -The outlets in the wall don't work, if you need to plug in, look for the extension cords. -Some of the tables get super drafty...pack a sweater! Would recommend as a study spot or a place to grab coffee/quick lunch with a friend! read more
