What happened? We used to enjoy picking up a salad from this restaurant. However last week a group of 4 spent over $60 and what you see is the Buddha Bowl with Tofu ($16). The depth in this is approximately 1.5-2" so a meager amount of food compared to previous years of the same order. Not sure if new owners but stingy best describes this meal. Ridiculous amount to charge $16 for. Honestly it probably was $2.00 worth of ingredients... plus they now "expect" a 20% default TIP. I know good help is harder to find but now it seems like it is better to just "assemble" at home. read more

Nice staff and fresh ingredients but they refuse to toss the salad in dressing, therefore you end up with dry ingredients and dressing you are trying to mix up for the right taste. I understand if it's take out, one might want dressing on the side, but when I'm eating there and want the salad served like most salads at restaurants they should be able to do that. Don't come down to Kihei often but when I do I'm usually looking for a good brunch and F&S checks all the right boxes. 1) Fresh, local, and healthy 2) friendly service with aloha and a smile 3) they do serve alcohol and kombucha 4) and delicious. They have meat options and veggie/gluten so every one is happy. This location is nice ambience too. Coffee shop right next door as well. The Thai salad is amazing. So is the falafel sandy. This is my favorite healthy restaurant in Kihei! I love the out door and in door seating. I love all the choices. I love how local & organic everything is. I love how affordable the salads & sandwiches are. I love the rewards program. I will say though, there are a few of the staff members that encourage me to not come in as often. I do always get greeted, yet most times, in a more miserable way... It comes off as some of the staff doesn't like being there and wants to go ahead and get the interaction over & done with. There's this one guy that keeps the morale high though. I forget his name...Mike I think it is, but he gets all the credit. Along with a few others who I don't see as often. But Mike is engaging, welcoming and positive every time. In short; I would rate this place 5 stars if the staff was more welcoming and friendly. read more

Been here a couple times now, shocking yes I know since this girl is very limited on the vegetables she eats. However, I have discovered some Haley friendly options. I have done the build your own salad option more then once which is great for me since everything already built has things in it that I don't like. However $4.25 to add chicken, wow & of course I had to add the chicken. In order to stay full I needed to have some protein in there, pretty much making it a $15 salad. My most recent trip in though, I decided to switch it up & get the asian inspired kalua pork sandwich in a wrap. That seemed to be the safe pick with not too many things for me to pick out. I noticed that sandwiches come with salad, which I was going to tell the girl behind the counter I did not want because who wants more salad after having veggies in their wrap, not me. However, she let me know that wraps do not come with the salad anyway, perfect. I was also asked if I wanted everything in the wrap, which was nice, but I didn't want to look like the picky eater that I am, so I just took everything. The wrap was great bursting with flavor, besides all my sauces oozing out into my container & on my hand. Can't believe I'm saying this, but the nice crisp vegetables with the multiple sauces & dressings made that thing even better. Service was good & I was in & out in a timely manner. Pricing is a bit high, but it's only because of the locally sourced & organic ingredients used. read more

Such a simple formula, well executed. While running lunchtime errands I was craving a nice salad. At Fork & Salad I opted to build my own, choosing from a combination of greens and dressing, plus five toppings from a long list, and the option to add chicken or shrimp for protein. I stayed vegetarian and created leafy kale, spring greens, cilantro & mint, feta, tomato, chick peas, cucumber, eggplant, with a light amount of meyer lemon-herb dressing which I'm certain is house-made. My friendly salad maven tossed all the items for me and plated up. Fork & Salad's formula reminds me of the best of the Los Angeles salad restaurants from the 1970s - 80s health craze - chilled, fresh, local when possible, and many options. I appreciate the large bins of greens on display directly behind the cash register. While this is not a self-serve restaurant, I can quickly scan the day's offerings for the freshest combination. Well, everything is generally fresh so this is just a bonus. I've dined here several times and would rate my experience as consistently excellent. Price and portions are pretty fair for Maui. Service is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is what I would expect from a fast-food salad bar - casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, a win for casual dining in Kihei. read more

Always very tasty, usually get the beet salad with chicken. There can be a little lack of consistency with the topping amounts, but I think it is mainly due to the salad being made individually by different people. I had one person putting on the right proportion of the beets and apples, then the next person on the line only put 3 pineapple bits and 3 mandarin bits. Everything seemed to be a pinch that he put on. No biggie, still all good and fresh! Tried the lamb chili and like everyone else says, it is pretty stellar! I had a cup, and it is pretty hardy and is enough for a meal! I have not tried the bread bowl as that is an additional $7, which seams a little steep. The salad price is reasonable, I add chicken, which brings it up to about $17, which is good for the size of the salad and is on par for eating healthy! The restaurant is always clean and the staff has been consistently nice, the cashiers have always been very pleasant. I highly recommend checking this place out! If you are in a hurry, try the on line app. If there is a couple of folks in front of you, the line can move slow because they are making everything fresh and to order! read more

I searched on Yelp for organic and one of the top places to show up was Fork and Salad. This place could not have come at a better time. Consider Panera, but better and most importantly LOCAL! The soup and salad option is definitely the go-to. Their tomato bisque isn't as high in sodium as other places and their lamb chili is the bomb diggity. They use local lamb from Nihauu with chopped up carrots, onions and other tasty goodness. The ancho-steak sandwich is really filling and well worth it. My wife loved their make your own salad option. I was looking for some new restaurants on our trip to Maui. I saw the many good reviews here so we stopped in for lunch to give it a try. Fork & Salad is located On S. Kihei Road at Lipoa St. in the same shopping center as the original Coconuts Cafe. Since it was our first time here it took us a few minutes to look at the menu. The girl behind the counter wasn't very friendly and didn't offer to explain the menu or concept. I ended up getting a custom salad ($9.95) which includes one dressing and five toppings. I chose the mango-lilikoi dressing and I also added Ahi tuna which was an extra $8. The salad was pretty good, but not $18 good. It was also quite dry for my taste and it could have used more dressing. The ahi was fresh and seared rare, just how I like it. Another thing I liked here is the complimentary infused waters. They also give you a large glass jar instead of a small cup like many other restaurants when only having water. Overall an OK experience, If i did return I would just get the salad and not add the ahi. A definite 3 star experience. read more

A year later, with a couple visits in between and still SO impressed with this place. We got here around 12:15p and they were jamming. The line was long but it moved rather quickly. I got my go-to salad, the "beet and goat cheese". For $9.95 I got a HUGE bowl of salad with a chunk of goat cheese and a generous serving of each topping (shaved apples, roasted beets, shaved raw beets, cashews, a grain mix & pineapple). The dressing was a lilikoi vinaigrette. My husband opted for the soup and salad combo for $9.95. For a .50$ upgrade he got the lamb chili. The salad pairs well with his Greek salad that had a generous serving of creamy tzatziki sauce. I cannot wait until they open their central location! read more

I REALLY dig this place. Lots of fresh produce and a bunch of different toppings. I love a good salad and I love when I can just pile on a bunch of different veggies. Build your own is the way to go. it's roughly $10 and you choose up to 5 toppings but I tend to over top it, so it's always over $10 for me. They do not skimp when adding avocado! They have tofu and a few different vegan friendly dressings but honesty, the avocado mashed up was enough for me. The place is very clean and the workers here are super friendly and don't mind explaining things to newbies (like us). They have a bunch of different drinks and iced lemon water out on the floor. I do wish that they would have at least 1 vegan friendly soup daily. That was the only bummer for me. Would go back for sure! read more

Loved this place. We had Maui goddess salad and ancient grain bowl, both with tofu add on. They were both delicious. I really enjoyed Maui goddess, there were so many surprising tastes in there, green apple slices, raisins, blue cheese crumbles and purple potatoes! I would def order it again soon. Reasonably priced for Maui, portions were generous. And they don't skimp on the dressing which is nice. The only minus is that green apple seems to have been sliced with the sticker still on. Everything is fresh looking and the place smells super clean. Lots of inside seating. They have some soups and some kombucha too. The first time I had Fork & Salad was actually in OC, California! that location closed unfortunately, so I jumped at the chance to get Fork & Salad in Maui. I ordered the Super Salad 2.0 and the Maui Goddess Salad. Everyone in my family separately commented unprompted how much they liked the salads. We went back again, even though it was not exactly convenient to get to for us. The salads are delicious as are the bowls. You can build your own or sub out ingredients. Their site for ordering wasn't taking my payment but it was easy to call it in. They did make one of my salads wrong, but luckily, I noticed before we'd gone too far. They were not very apologetic or nice about it when I brought it back, so was debating 4 stars though. Another favorite of mine there is the Roasted eggplant sandwich with goat cheese. Wash all that goodness down with their Pauwela kombucha on tap. So many different kombucha flavors all made locally and fresh. The only negative would be their tomato bisque soup. It was missing something, I think it needs more cream and or cheese. I absolutely love this place. So glad the Kihei store finally reopened. Fresh local grown food and such creative combinations. I always get the sandwich's as a wrap (no additional charge) I haven't had one didn't like. My 3 favs are the chicken papaya, falafel, and the shrimp and avo. I could eat here everyday!! I'm from Orange County, CA, where Fork and Salad once had their own location in. Ever since they closed over in CA, I've been wanting to return to either of their Maui locations. I do the Cobb salad as a wrap (love that they also put a little extra salad on the side) and it's seriously the same price as a combo meal from McDonalds and so much better. Everyone's always friendly, the food is super fresh, and if there is a small line it moves fast.
