    Chicken dumplings
    Julie P.

An absolute gem and a great addition to Washington Ave/Underhill. It's nice to see more options like this down the block from my job. Their fried oyster mushrooms are amazing. Chicken dumplings are equally amazing. And what is even better is their braised beef soup!!! My little one likes their popcorn chicken. Whatever you get, it feels very homey, has those traditional East Asian flavors, and it's all sure to make you feel good! It's a small place with plenty of seating. But since it's a small place; you definitely have to beat the crowd (if there is one) to get a seat. When I've gone, it's never been crowded so I've always found a seat. The place gives more of a "grab and go" type of feel or like a casual cafe where you can get a small bite and hang a bit. All in all, a wonderful place to be and to eat.

Stopped by this new Taiwanese spot on a chilly day, drawn in by the beef noodle soup. Formosa's still in its soft opening but already bustling. Staff are friendly and the cozy interior's cute, though some tables are awkwardly low. The popcorn chicken was crispy and tender. The beef noodle soup came with a generous portion of meat and perfectly stewed radish and veggies, though I wish there was more of those. The noodles were bouncy, the broth decent but not very deep. One bowl came out overly oily, but the staff handled it well and replaced it. Overall, a solid spot I'd return to--especially to try their dumplings next time.

Tasty Taiwanese right off Washington! What a treat, the neighborhood needed a good dumpling spot, happy to see this open. I normally don't go to soft launches I'm not invited to but I was fasting so had the patience to wait in line this time. Very worth it! Have seen this building as a fee other shops but this feels right. Calm relaxed tones with patches of plants and dark greens give it a soothing ambiance. It was obviously packed, but I can imagine it more low key for next time. I got the vegan scallion noodles and king oyster mushrooms. Figured I'd save the dumplings for next time. Noodles were very tasty with a savory/sweet sauce. A little al dente but I'm giving the chefs a lot of grace because of how quick they had to be. It could have used some more veggies tbh, but the tofus was really tasty. I enjoy the mushrooms, super crunchy and a good bite. Never had cubes KOM before so it was nice. The chilli sauce I forgot to ask for in the beginning but it was really tasty and a nice kick. I'll be back to check out the dumplings when it's calmed down but glad to have another heavy hitting spot nearby. This is the second location, apparently the original is in Bushwick. So congrats to the team for expanding and continuing the dream. Be back soon!

Although not perfectly authentic, the lu rou fan is wonderfully fatty and flavorful, and you will want to finish the whole dish.

I already knew it was going to be a great place just by the other reviews, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be snooty or anything. Super chill, but very popular! My friend and I got lucky and got seats at the bar, but I could totally come here solo which is why I like it a lot! Beer is crafted and good. It's a tad bit bright but looks like people come to work, read a book or hang. The staff was really nice and I like how simple the menu is. I don't think I'd eat any snacks here, but I can try it out when I come back. Such a good find & highly reco!

Within 5 minutes, one of the employees comes outside to ask if I want to buy a drink. However, I'm almost finished with my lunch and answer no thanks, only for the employee to say in a huff, "Well, next time you should buy something if you want to use our seating." While I understand that as your business, you have the right to do this, it really just comes off as rude and condescending, turning what would've been a nonexistent interaction into a negative one that has completely soured my attitude toward this establishment. Considering that this establishment had roughly a dozen tables and 24 seats with only 4 seats or so occupied when I was around and I wasn't interfering with business on a slow afternoon, there shouldn't have been a problem with simply letting bygones be bygones. If this is what New Yorkers consider hospitality and acceptable behavior, no wonder people from most other states consider the population to be rude.
