My family and I had a great lunch experience here today. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He even asked if we were allergic to anything. My son had their chicken tenders and fries. We ate fried calamari - yummy. My husband and I ended up sharing a chicken parmigiana sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. The cheese and sauce ratio were awesome. The sandwich wasn't dripping with sauce either which I appreciated. Of course we couldn't leave without trying a dessert so we split a tiramisu and it was fabulous! Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. We certainly will come back to try their wood fire pizza. Ambience is super casual. They have a bar with televisions if you don't want to sit at a regular table. There is a free parking lot. It is located in a shopping plaza. Very clean and spacious inside. Tonight we decided to go to Fortina for dinner. What an awful decision. We're still sitting here waiting for our food 90 minutes after we were seated. During this time, I counted 56 pizzas to go that left the restaurant. Multiple parties walked out after they were seated because they waited 20 minutes to just get water. I'm sitting in the restaurant now and families are here with only one entree; everyone looks miserable. We used to frequent Fortina. The service has gone downhill. I wouldn't go back. What a miserable experience. I also waited 30 minutes for my sangria, which is just orange juice in a cup. read more

We've been coming here for years and have always had a fantastic experience. We usually sit at the bar, where the service is quick and high quality. Food is reliably good, each and every time. Last year they had an amazing salmon with a green pea sauce that was delicious and we were told it was a seasonal addition--we've been waiting all summer for them to bring it back, it was one of my favorite meals in the entire state of NY. I had such a great experience dining at Fortina this weekend. Everything from the food to the service was spot on! Our server was so amazing! I forgot her name, but she was such a sweetheart and gave some great recommendations. We started off with the wings, which I highly recommended! They are cooked in the wood brick oven, so it has a beautiful smokey taste! We also enjoyed our entrees. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My only gripe is that the broccoli rabe was too bitter for my liking and the pizza was on the saltier side. Our waiter was warm, efficient, and made some great recommendations. We had the Queen Bee pizza and the goat cheese and fig pie, both were delicioso. Their pizza is what I come back here for! This location is a bit smaller than what I am use to but the food was just as good as their other location in Yonkers. I loved the Caesar salad and how well dressed it was. There was a bit of a wait for us to be seated when we first walked in and to make up for that they sent us some mozzarella sticks on the house which was very nice of them to do considering my kids were starving haha. Second time eating here. Ate here many years ago when Christian Petroni was the owner. I understand it has since changed hands. Came for lunch and seated outside, and other than a pestering and persistent bee that wouldnt leave my food alone, the experience was a positve one. I ordered the house salad with chicken on the side. Greens were mostly fresh but I did see one piece of romaine that was spotted brown. (I ate it anyway.) It was served in a deep and wide white bowl and the greens were plentiful. Atop the salad was a snowfall of grated cheese whose flavor was relatively non-descript once mixed with the rest of the meal. The salad was a bit overdressed with an italian robosto. The chicken accompaniment tasted and looked a bit sad. It was dry and had an aftertaste. My children loved their spaghetti and meatballs. My husband liked the Ray's Pizza. He also raved about our friend's mozz sticks. The pictured caesar salad looked good. Overall, the menu is super interesting and I think this is really a place to enjoy pizza rather than salad. Walked in and told to sit wherever. So we were seated quickly wherever we wanted. We were in a bit of a lunch time crunch, we had to get the attention of someone to come take our order. We ordered our appetizer and entrees all at once. It took longer than expected. My appetizer came out after the entrees. Most of the food we got boxed up to go. I order the pepperoni pizza with spicy honey glaze and cheesy bread. The Spicy Honey Glaze could have drowned the pizza and I do not think I would have had enough. It gave the perfect sweet and spicy and salty bite. I will definitely ask for some on the side. The cheesy bread was a little soggy and didn't have a good bite but I also didn't eat it right away and had to reheat it so 50-50 on it. Every year during the holidays I like to take my team out for a little dinner to celebrate the season. After a somewhat disappointing experience at another spot last year, I did a little brainstorming to find a new place for this year. I remember dining at the Fortina location in Yonkers a couple of years ago and having a great experience, so I figured this would be a great place to revisit. Fortina is an Italian restaurant owned by chef Christian Petroni. Petroni is a Bronx native who makes regular appearances on Food Network which is where I first discovered him. The Fortina brand has grown to five restaurants, with locations in Brooklyn, Stamford, Yonkers, Armonk and Rye Brook. Since the Rye Brook location is closest to where I work, I thought that would be the ideal spot to dine at. The restaurant is located in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center so there's ample parking. The interior isn't too grand but very spacious with a large bar to the left and a number of tables throughout the space. The aesthetics are casual with a brown color scheme, semi-open kitchen, and lots of wood accents. The menu is almost exclusively family style, with sections devoted to apps, pizza, pasta, salads, vegetables, and meats. In theory you can order items individually but sharing totally works. There were seven of us, and looking over the menu we decided to order a couple of apps, a few pizzas, a few pastas, and a salad. For apps we chose the arancini and the fried meatballs. These were both good - the arancini were creamy and served with a tasty white sauce, while the meatballs were served with a red sauce. I'm biased towards my mother's meatballs but they did a good job. For pizzas we chose three - the prosciutto, the tenderoni, and the gluten-free Sicilian style. While I didn't try the GF one, the others were great. The prosciutto was topped with tomato, lots of arugula, and parmesan cheese in addition to the meat, while the tenderoni had pepperoni, mozzarella, parmesan, and chili-honey. The flavors worked on both pies - I'm a sucker for honey chili and there was just enough to complement the other flavors on the tenderoni. The prosciutto was a little messier to eat because of the nature of the toppings but again the flavors worked well. We also got three pastas. The first was a gnocchi prepared caccio e pepe style, the second was a fusilli in a red sauce with cured bacon, and the third was a pasta served in a bechamel sauce with veal meatballs. All the pastas were great - cooked al dente with flavorful complements. The bibb salad we ordered was nothing amazing but we really weren't looking for something ground breaking. It was served with apples, radish, and grilled chicken which made it just interesting enough. Finally, I had the cannoli for dessert - this was pretty good with Nutella in the middle which was a nice surprise. Service was great - they give you a little card to prop up whenever you need to get the attention of the staff which proves helpful especially if it's crowded. Everyone we encountered was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I had a great second experience at Fortina. Petroni knows what he's doing and I look forward to my next visit. read more

Fortina has been our go-to neighborhood restaurant for the past few years. The pastaciutto is exceptional--there's no other pasta like it. It has set the standard for us, making it hard to enjoy other pastas when Fortina does it so well. The baked ziti is also very good and the arugula salad is amazing. The ambiance is family-friendly. I went for a late lunch to Fortina. My teenage daughter loves the mozzarella sticks and baked ziti. The mozzarella sticks were crispy and powdered with fresh parm cheese. Took us far too long to be seen by our server and then once we put in our appetizer order he was mia for a solid 20 minutes. My first time at Fortina's, which got good reviews from friends. Was not impressed with the menu. They do charge $16 for Caesar Salad (which your wait team should tell you it's BIG enough for two) and $8 for a bottle of Spring water, which didn't taste any different than the tap water, but their bathroom looks like this. I was mortified in the restroom. Shocked is more like it. If they are doing construction on it, a sign is usually posted but as you can see in the picture, no signs are there. Our waitress, Jessica, was fantastic. Very personable and helpful. I may try again and have pizza with no expectation for the bathrooms. I'll use the other restroom next time. read more

Super fast and delicious. Our favorite go-to spot for a midweek meal or Sunday brunch. Margarita and LB pizzas are my favorite. Arugula salad is perfect for sharing. OMG this place was not good at all. Scarpello hash was more like a bowl of potato soup. Potatoes were whole not chopped, there was barely any sausage in it and took way too long to come out. Strange because the place was empty on a Sunday at brunch, I guess I know why. The pizza had no flavor at all and I had to get up and go ask for crushed red pepper and cheese for our pizzas. After 8 hours without power, we looked forward to fresh food from a place we last frequented and thoroughly enjoyed pre-COVID. Aware of the strain that restricted business has had on restaurants, I want to acknowledge that Fortina has a brisk outdoor dining and take out business since restaurants opened in NY, and we ordered while the chef still had over an hour to serve. We were heartily disappointed. For $11.50, we got 5 pieces of cauliflower, one large tree and 4 smaller half or mini pieces. I wouldn't even call it a tapas portion. The side sauces were very oily. The chicken addition to the arugula salad was either rotisserie or slightly breaded with a very greasy taste. I appreciated the full chicken breast, but the slab of meat was poorly presented and nothing was bite-sized. The cheese for the salad was powdered parmigiana that I'd put on pizza, nothing freshly shredded to add to a salad. We didn't get the healthy fresh salads we were hoping for. The one dish that saved the $75.00 for 3 meal? The margherita pizza. Fortina knows how to make pizza, and for our next visit, we will stick to pies. read more

Started off with arancini that were just ok and went on to order the "Italian Style Chicken Cutlet" and "Adult Mac and Cheese" for two of us to share as we were told the portions are large. We thought two dishes would be good for two people to split but we left still hungry. - The chicken cutlet was definitely not meant to split and was brought out without any presentation (it tasted ok - but it could have been enhanced if it were over an arugula salad or anything other than just on a plate) - The mac and cheese was also ok but also not a HUGE portion as it was explained and honestly it was not anything different or special. * There are other locations that may be different so consider which you go to if there are others close to you! read more

I've been here a few times over the years, and tend to leave here feeling indifferent about the experience. Last time was no exception to this, unfortunately, even though the food was definitely pretty good. The restaurant was very quiet, contrary to past visits, where I've seen the place bustling with activity - perhaps covid-19 has hit Fortina hard, sadly, as it has to many restaurants. Unfortunately, despite a decent amount of staff, it took a long while before we saw any food on the table, despite ordering pretty early on. I ordered the arancini, which were fantastic, and the fusilli all'amatriciana, which was fussy and seemed to have a competing flavor palette. I cannot remember what drink I ordered but it was quite good, and the pizza I shared with the table was okay - though I am not much of a pizza guy, so I can't speak for it too well. However, I would be remiss not to mention the BREAD PUDDING - an absolutely insane take on a classic that was far better than I could have possibly expected. Terrible experience and I don't know where to begin. Our server was good. We ordered the chicken parm w/salad and a classic margarita pizza w/mushrooms. It's definitely not the fresh mozzarella I am used to for parm dishes and the pizza. Not to mention the parm dish had a chicken bone, which seem out of place and was part of a whole chicken on it and not a uniform cutlet as a traditional parm dish. The other thing we saw which gave a sour grape for us was a couple that ordered the same chicken dish and the chicken was completely raw. Not to mention the bottle of sparkling water was overpriced. To end the night on a bad note, the bathroom door was stuck and I had knocked on it and yanked on the knob a few times to finally to get it to reopen. I try to tell the person at the bar and their response was a blank stare, I walked out pissed and replied I wouldn't be back at such establishment again.
