Terrible experience and I don't know where to begin. Our server was good. We ordered the chicken parm w/salad and a classic margarita pizza w/mushrooms. It's definitely not the fresh mozzarella I am used to for parm dishes and the pizza. Not to mention the parm dish had a chicken bone, which seem out of place and was part of a whole chicken on it and not a uniform cutlet as a traditional parm dish. The other thing we saw which gave a sour grape for us was a couple that ordered the same chicken dish and the chicken was completely raw. Not to mention the bottle of sparkling water was overpriced. To end the night on a bad note, the bathroom door was stuck and I had knocked on it and yanked on the knob a few times to finally to get it to reopen. Went to eat here because in the past is was ok when visited the past few times. This time me and my wife went to eat and got the wood fired pasta with veal meatballs. It didn't taste good to me but I ate it, well fast forward a few hours and it didn't go well. Was sick for hours coming out both ends. If there were half stars it would be 3.5. Ample parking in the plaza, the service was good. There's a card you put up when you want someone to help you and they do come right away. Lack of stars would be the portion vs the price. Prices seem a bit "high" while the portions weren't exactly huge. If you're a pizza lover and like gourmet variety pizza this would be the spot. 5 small meatballs for $16 seemed a bit hefty. I would also have to say the kids menu are priced high too and pasta is al dente so for children it wasn't a big hit for my niece. Overall my sister and I enjoyed it but this place is something I would go once in the blue moon, not a regular basis. They did call the next day to follow up on our reservation and how it was. Solid, casual neighborhood Italian parlor. They serve you pizza propped by up large Cento tomato cans and the vibe is very relaxed. The food is solid but service is a bit on the slow side. Entrees took about 15-20 min. Some highlights: 1. Margherita pizza: solid with flavorful sauce and a chewy thin crust. 2. Meatballs: savory with a lightly pan-fried shell in a robust tomato sauce. Definitely recommend. 3. Grilled octopus: Okay but the octopus was slightly tough 4. Arancini: Okay but pretty standard 5. Bibb salad: Meh. The grilled chicken comes on the side but literally just 6 leaves of butter lettuce. Not worth the $14. 6. Arugula salad: Probably one of the better salads with Parmesan, candied walnuts, and arugula served in a wooden bowl. 7. I had tried Fortina in Yonkers dine-in a few years back and was really disappointed for a number of reasons. I have had occasion to be in the Rye Brook area this week and gave Fortina Rye Brook a shot for take out - three times. I had the Lasagna, the Gnocchi, and the regular pie with meatballs. The Gnocchi was pretty close to perfect in terms of taste. The only complaint I have is according to the menu, it comes with "ragu". Let me put it this way. For the amount of meat they give you, they might as well take the ragu part off the menu. For $22, you basically get gnocchi with sauce (very good sauce). The Lasagna was also very good, but was topped with a slice of cheese that solidified very easily and made it very difficult to cut by the time I opened it up. The "Original Famous Rays" pizza w/meatball wishes in their dreams to come close to the Original Famous Rays. For $16 (near or close to the price of an 18" large pizza in the area), you get a very mediocre perhaps 12" personal pizza with one thin slice of meatball on each slice. Thin crust the way it should be, but very "doughy" tasting and not crisp but kind of soggy with not enough sauce (kinda on the bland side and not very sweet) and not enough cheese. There seems to be a consistently recurring theme at Fortina ... and that is for the money, you do not get a good value given the quantity/portion size. I also had this experience at the Yonkers location with the size of the Baked Ziti for $16. For gosh sakes, it's pasta (could anything be cheaper in terms of cost?), cheese and sauce. I respect Christan Petroni, but he has had several years now to refine his restaurants. I want to like this place more. I really do. read more

If the horrendous parking lot doesn't kill you, the lack-luster services may. I've been going to this plaza for over 10 years and without a doubt it's ALWAYS the first thing I think about when I'm going to go shoppping/eating there - "Do I really want to deal with that parking lot?" - it's the only place that I can think of that offers this bad a parking lot. First it's impossible to find a spot and if you do, good luck not getting run over. People drive WAY too fast. I know this is a review for a restaurant - but their parking situation is that bad and has to be included in the review. As for the food. In the 4 times I ate there - always work birthday lunches - I was happy with the pizzas. They offer interesting specialty pizzas. I've always though they were a little pricey for what you're getting. Where they really lose me, besides the awful parking, is the service. It's always a different wait staff but the results are always the same. You always feel like you're a burden to them and to their precious phone/texting time. They don't even pretend to care about the fact that you expect to be treated with a certain amount respect and service. A waiter once spilled a full glass of red wine on my mom's white pants and we were still charged for it. They apologized profusely, and i've worked a restaurant so I was very understanding, but I still think we should have gotten a free drink at the least. After recently seeing Chef Petroni on DDD, we stopped in for Friday lunch on our way up to CT. Wasn't busy yet soon after opening, although the shopping center was pretty busy. From a COVID standpoint, seems like everyone was following guidelines. Most people in the shopping center were wearing masks properly, even outside of the stores in the parking lot. Everyone in Fortina we saw were as well. One-way directional flow signs inside. Tables were properly distanced. We grabbed a table outside, since it was a nice morning with great weather. Building threw shade on the outdoor tables. Menu is online via Toast. They provide a QR code to get to the menu, and you have to order and pre-pay through the app. It was early in the day, so there were a few menu items that were unavailable, like the half chicken and pork braciole. We'll have to come back and try the braciole someday, cuz it sounded delicious! We ordered the calamari to start, which comes with an interesting story. When the order first came, we dug in. It was delicious and perfectly cooked as it was super tender and lightly breaded. Halfway through our digging in, the server came over to apologize, that two executive chefs in the indoor dining space didn't like how our order smelled and wanted the kitchen to make us a fresh batch. We didn't spot anything wrong, but we appreciate how they're careful and take pride in their product!! A new order was delivered a few minutes later, and it was delicious too! They even took it off of our check, even though we thought it was great! We couldn't decide on a pizza, but our server recommended The LB so we went with that. So happy on the recommendation! My son graduated high school last night. He wanted the family to go to Fortina for dinner. I have never been there. I liked the cool decor of the restaurant. Service excellent. We had a Margarita pizza, Mushroom pizza, plain pizza, sausage and pepper pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. All of the food was excellent. I also enjoyed watching them make the pizza. Nice wood burning ovens. I like how they bring out the food whenever ready regardless if all the meals are ready, so the food is always hot. We were having such a good time. We did not realize the baked ziti and mushroom pizza was taking a long time to get to the table due to a full restaurant. We did not even mind or complain. The manager Gerard came over to our table on his own. Apologized for delay in 2 dishes and comped the pizza and baked ziti. That had never happened to us. Worst Fortina location. I've had great dining experiences at various Fortina locations but this one is dreadful. Went there a few months ago where I was served the arugula salad with disgusting old chicken. The manager took the dish back and gave us a refund the salad. Thinking that this was a one time occurrence I went back recently. We order a couple of pizzas, the funghi and the margarita as well as the shishito pepper app. The peppers were fine, nothing to write home about. The pizzas were awful. The margarita has barely any cheese or basil on it. The funghi was burnt and disgusting. The toppings were barely visible and overall the pizza was mostly crust. I suggest trying the other locations but skip this one. Not worth $15-$19 per pie for burnt bread. read more

Went here yesterday for the first time. This place is located in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. Luckily they have outdoor seating and they also offer indoor seating. We chose to sit outside because there was a nice breeze and felt it was safer pandemic wise. We had the margaritas and rum punch. They serve the liquor in a glass flask which I thought was creative. The margaritas were awesome and strong. The rum punch was tasty but if you're looking to feel a little buzz then go for the margaritas! You had to scan your phone on this barcode that was on the table and place your order on one phone and pay before you get your food. Why can't we just get paper menus and give you the credit card in the end? Nice casual restaurant in the shopping center. Food was good and would definitely come back. Had the whole wheat cavatlli with sausage and broccoli rabe. Fried meatballs and chicken parmesan sliders were also good. Service was friendly but a little confusing. They have the put a card up if you need help system but random servers would come by to check on you regardless. Went around 6pm and it was definitely family hour. Man this was a good surprise! Ran into this place on a hunt to find an alternative to the regular pizza joint we usually go to and I can't lie, as someone who knows the business inside and out, this was outstanding food. The menu was certainly different and experimental although the traditional Italian dishes were still on there (reminded me a whole lot of Ciao Baby on Long Island with a bareburger style ambiance). Decided to go with the veal meatball a la vodka and Peperoni/Ricotta pie with a few cocktails and it was perfection. As someone who grew up in a hardcore Italian household in Queens I normally find non-conventional, outside-the-box Italian restaurants insulting but this did not boarder on that one bit. Service was great and the prices were fairly reasonable. Perhaps my only gripe would be the music being a little too loud & I couldn't hear what my woman was saying. We had no idea who our server was and/or how to order and if they took cash. We were doing 3 tabs so right off the bat we were confused bc the table markers said to order using your phone. No management seemed to present. The second thing, it's also extremely over-priced . I don't mind paying top dollar for good food but this is far beyond good. The food: My eggplant rollatini was spoiled. The ricotta was no good. The garlic bread came out with a hair on it (Ok, that could happen anywhere) but they forgot the garlic so it was just bread with cheese!
