Fortune Cookie is one of two decent Chinese Take-Out Restaurants I'll go to in Clifton Park. They are located directly off of Exit 8 in the Shopping Plaza with CVS, Pancho's and Pam's Pub on the left hand side. While they don't deliver, the food is your typical Chinese-American fare with Dinner/Lunch Specials on the back of their Menu. It's family owned (of course) and every time I have gone there, they have been nothing but pleasant, which is more than I can say for Fortune Wok. The food is decently priced if you consider what other Chinese take-out restaurants charge in the area and the small, dive-y space is clean and immaculate. They speak English pretty well and the wait time for food is between 10-12 minutes. If you live local and don't mind driving to pick up your food, I recommend Fortune Cookie over any of the other Chinese Take-Out's in the Clifton Park area. read more

Okay. Just okay. Handled the order for 10-people without a problem. Had the orders prepared correctly and no surprises when the little white boxes were opened. The food itself was fair. Typical take-out fare. Orange chicken did have real orange peels, that's a plus. The only problem was that the chicken was indistinguishable from the breading that surrounded it. Moo Shu Chicken was a bit darker than normal, but about half of it disappeared. That's a pretty good sign. Steamed chicken and vegetables - well can't really screw that one up. Chicken lo mein went largely untouched, sweet and sour chicken was devoured, egg rolls and shrimp rolls were pedestrian. Great price point, but if you are going to go for the orange chicken be sure to order the chicken steamed and then sauced. read more

Fortune Cookie is easily the best Chinese food in Clifton Park. I eat there once or twice a month, and in the ten or so years it's been open, I've had an underwhelming meal once. Everything else has been great. My dish of choice is the General Tso's chicken. It has a nice balance between spicy, which is strong but not overpowering, and sweet, which adds a nice contrast to the spice. Other good items that I frequently order include house special fried rice, wonton soup, steamed dumplings, and the house special mei fun. The prices do seem to be a little higher than most, but the quality more than makes up for the cost. I'm not sure about the drive from anywhere of exit 9 or north but if you live off exit 8 or 8A, it's your best bet for Chinese food. read more

However if you're looking for semi decent customer service and for all of your order to be in the bag then I would look elsewhere. Called on the phone to place an order this evening (not a very complicated one either) the girl who answered the phone was as rude on the phone as she was in person. When I arrived to pick up my order, she ignored me. Then when I inquired after standing there awkwardly for 5 minutes, she told me she never received my phone call. After reiterating that I called the correct establishment, she rolled her eyes and I placed the order again in person. She said it would be about 20 more minutes. Somewhat irritated but not in a rush I ran to the plazas CVS to waste time. After returning to the restaurant to pick up my order (to be ignored yet again, and not to mention the sweltering heat of the place) I continued to wait. Many other customers were waiting as well at this point- also being ignored by the girl taking orders. Finally my order was called and I paid. When I got home I realized my main dish was not in my bag but bet your bottom dollar I paid for it on the receipt. Thoroughly pissy at this point I was not willing to go back and just enjoyed the parts of my order that did come home with me. 2 stars strictly for the cuisine. We've been eating for here for a large number of years, not for like of the food but only for convenience; there seems to be nothing else in the area. They continue to add more and more rice to the dinner meals which leaves room only for very little meat and exactly 2 pieces of broccoli. Apparently good Chinese food is hard to find in the Clifton Park area. This is the first and last time I order from this restaurant. I ordered a boneless spare ribs combination platter and a General Tsos combination platter. The spare ribs were dry and overcooked. The fried rice was bland with no taste and and only couple of small pieces of pork and onions. The one good thing I can say is they use white rice where other restaurants use yellow rice. The egg rolls were disgusting! I don't know how old they were but they certainly were not fresh! Don't wouldn't waste your money. The place is filthy dirty. The floor is disgusting and needs a good scrubbing. The counters and window sills are loaded with dust. I ordered scallops with garlic sauce for $11 bucks ($10.95 actually) and the dish was loaded with broccoli. You had to search for the scallops and when you did find a scallop, it was the size of a water chestnut...and as thin as a water chestnut. They do not understand what "white meat, chicken breast" is, as when asked if their Sesame Chicken was made with white meat chicken breast, she responded very emphatically "YES." After being loyal customers to this restaurant for almost 6 years (with no problems), I placed an order one night and when I arrived to pay for my order, my toddler was tired at the end of a long day and not cooperating with me to say in nicely. :) The staff seemed annoyed but I was able to pay and pick up my order using my telephone number and high-tailed it out of there. Upon arriving at home, I realized that I had the wrong order - although there were two items that were the same as my order so I didn't realize that I had received the wrong order until I had served my toddler chicken and broccoli and dumplings went back to get my food and my husband's order. I called the restaurant and explained what happened and told them that I would obviously keep the food since we were in the process of eating it (and it was very close to what we had ordered), but that I needed to have my husband stop by on the way home to pick-up one additional meal since the order I picked up was short. I honestly wasn't that upset - a little annoyed but no big deal. When my husband arrived to pick-up the additional order, they were completely rude to him and yelled at him for me picking up the wrong order because it messed up two orders. He paid for the additional meal and came home. At this point, I was very annoyed and decided to call and complain. I asked to speak to the manager after the first person who answered the phone could not speak English and we were unable to communicate properly. It turns out that the original order I picked up was more expensive than the order I placed + I had to have my husband stop by to pick-up an additional order. All in all, they gave me the wrong order - it turns out our phone numbers were similar, and it cost me almost $10 extra! The manager was very rude as well about this. Basically, I was just looking for an apology and I didn't receive one. We love this place. Have lived off exit 8 for about 13 years and order here whenever we are in the mood for Chinese. Tried one other place once by the old Price Chopper and it did not compare at all. The food was barely warm and the service was awful. Out of all the times we have ordered the they only messed up one time. Try the General Tso's chicken. It is awsome. My kids like the beef and broccoli and sweet and sour chicken. Their egg rolls are also really good. Oh, the soup is good too. My kids eat the won tons and egg drop soup - they love it. I only get General Tso's Chicken by the qt, but this place is pretty much as good as it gets. We like it hot as authentic Asian dishes, so we usually ad a tbsp of hot oil when we get it home. I haven't tried anything else there, but I get it at least once a week for the past few years and it's the only place in Clifton park that has been consistent in flavor (I swear some places have a different cook every week, but this place doesn't). If it helps, we use to go to house of Beijing a few years before, and about 10 years ago to east wok, so if you lived in the area and remember the food about then for that dish, you know what to expect here.
