The best Chinese food is always in the hood, and this place was no exception. I had just dropped my side piece off. I was feeling a little hungry after our cardio. I've been eyeing this place for a while, so I decided to stop in. And boy am I glad I did. Everything was good fresh and cheap. Ok, so I have no idea why I haven't ordered from Hunan before. For two years, my husband and I have been looking for a Chinese joint that serves good Chinese food. We only ordered the Chicken & Broccoli and Pu Pu platter but both were very good. I was in the mood for some fried Chinese takeout food and it definitely hit the spot. The chicken & broccoli had a surprisingly amount of chicken which is a plus. My husband would typically pay for extra chicken but definitely not needed. Oh, and to my surprise, we got two free cans of soda. Who doesn't like anything free?! My only disappointment was the white rice. It didn't seem as fresh but it tasted fine. I absolutely love this restaurant! We started going to this restaurant when we lived in the area. Even though we have moved out of the area, and it's a little bit of a drive, whenever we have the urge for Chinese food, we will always drive further to go here. They do not offer dine in anymore. They are strictly carry out and trust me when I say they are worth it. It is a family owned business, and they know their customers! Whenever I call in the order, they recognize my voice immediately. The food is phenomenal. The eggrolls are not overly greasy and their steamed and pan fried dumplings are the bomb. I love their vegetable lo mein, but my husband always gets the beef lo mein. You cannot go wrong with either one! Their portions are plentiful so you will definitely have leftovers. If you are looking for a fantastic Chinese food place, definitely check them out. Despite not offering delivery or dine in, you won't be disappointed, and will definitely find out that driving to get carry out is more than worth it. I'm not a big fan of this location. I've eaten here a few times and haven't really found anything that would keep me coming back. My family isn't crazy about the food here either. The food here reminds me of takeout from a chinese buffet. The menu gives the location a more upscale vibe with all of the specialty dishes, and with it having a "Duck" section on the menu, but there really wasn't much to it. The crispy duck was soggy, and why wouldn't it be when it was basically served on top of soup, which was nowhere in the description. The chicken was overly breaded and underly meated. yes, underly (Un-Der-Lee). Crispy beijing shrimp was AGAIN not crispy and had a buffet general tso's vibe. The description sounded amazing, but things always seem to get lost in the execution. The spare ribs were decent, but not good enough that I need to come back for more. Hunan China is a great place! Every time I call or go there, they are always friendly, fast and kind. The food is delicious and give you plenty of duck sauce, hot mustard, and soy packets. Chop sticks available on request. Plus they include some free canned sodas based on how much you order. We always call ahead and it is consistently ready on time or early. It is very standard Americanized Chinese fare. I ordered the shrimp with cashews and beef broccoli. The shrimp with cashews I was hoping or expecting them to be like honey walnut shrimp, but it was just shrimp, unbreaded, in like an oyster or black bean sauce with vegetables and cashews. Not my fave. The cashews seemed to not fit in with the dish and had no juice or flavor - just sprinkled on top. It was a bowl full of vegetables and about six small shrimp. Beef broccoli was pretty good. Husband got orange chicken, and that was pretty good. All the dishes seemed to have the same flavor base and tasted the same. They forgot to give us utensils and napkins, which were critical since we just moved and none of our boxes had been unpacked yet. Hunan China III has a buffet and does a ton of carry out. I usually get the carry out, order a variety of items and then eat on it for a few meals. Good Pu-pu platter and crispy spring rolls or egg rolls for appetizers, Hunan Shrimp & Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, or Schezuan pork for entree and a combination fried rice for blending. I have eaten at the buffet a couple times, and while it's not the largest one I've seen, it has a decent variety and the food is good. Went there today for lunch by myself. The staff was courteous and very quick, but that's where my praise ends. The buffet selection was severely limited, luke warm temperature and empty pans were never refilled with fresh food. I only had 4 or 5 things to choose from since all the other pans were emptied in the early lunch rush and never refilled. I paid $8 for pretty much a single small plate of food. Some of the food was "so-so" and some of it was average. They kept our drinks full, cleared our plates quickly (when we went up to get more food, so as not to bother us). The price was right, and I got a military discount. (This pushed it up to 3.5 stars, but I don't have a half star option). I'd tell you what to get, but I suggest, if you get the buffet, you take the time to try a little of everything. They had a combo of pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, and some vegetarian options. For Chinese take out this was alright. You can't expect much. The fried rice was bland but with some soy sauce it was good. General Tsos wasn't the best but was better then surround restaurant's. Stay away from the Lemon Chicken. The sauce was straight water with a squeeze of lemon in it. Not what you would expect from Lemon Chicken. They have a buffet. It's small, mostly standard fare. Some very nice and addictive shrimp. Not much else to write home about. Frozen pizza, soggy green beans, dry chicken, slathered variety of proteins and vegetables. It's actually quite bad. So how do I know anything about it? It's convenient. Way too convenient. End of the day. Drive to the parking lot. Out of the car, heading to Bloom. Thinking about fresh vegetables and maybe a nice piece of beef, and then I realize I'm heading to Bloom: impossible to get those things there (but that's another review). A slight course correction and I'm filling my take out styrofoam container with unnecessary fried objects. When I say filling, I mean cramming more than the engineers who designed the thing ever thought could fit. Home in a few, and almost as quickly, there's an empty styrofoam container in my house. Not too long afterwards, the headache begins. Or is it the stomachache? I can never remember which comes first. Save yourself, and your loved ones. This small, strip mall eatery is nothing to write home about food wise, but when it comes to customer service it's a different story. We have been regular carry-out customers for years. The friendly lady knows my voice by heart on the phone (and no, I don't order THAT much), and the food is always ready when we get there. Our order has never been wrong and the food is pretty good. This use to be a favorite of our family but after several bad meals I won't stop here anymore. This latest order was Peanut Chicken and Chicken and Broccoli and both were a disappointment. The chicken in the peanut chicken was stringy and very tough. Also there was very little peanut butter sauce, not even enough to flavor the meat. If I had to guess I think the chicken was cooked ahead of time and reheated in the microwave because it was so tough. The meal was inedible. The chicken and broccoli would have been ok but the cook didn't trim the broccoli so there were broccoli greens still attached to the florets. The stems weren't cleaned at all. In order to make the broccoli edible I pulled it all out put it on a cutting board and cleaned it myself. Kind of annoyed that I paid $7 so I could clean the vegetables myself. Sadly I miss what this place use to have, good food that we use to love. Over the last few visits I have observed cheaper and cheaper ingredients and definitely a terrible cook who doesn't care. This was me giving it one last chance but they won't get me in there again:( read more

I moved from Piney Orchard 11 years ago and still haven't found better Chinese food in Howard County. I've had the buffet only about 3 times, but probably ordered carryout at least 100 times. The carryout portions are very large and the food is fresh and great quality. The staff is friendly and they'll happily make your meal spicier upon request.
