Not many authentic sit-down Chinese restaurants on Long Island but this one is definitely a gem. Lots of delicious dim sum options & affordable prices comparable to Chinatown. It's located in a shopping center next to BJs but the outside is super small so you might drive right past it if you're not careful. My favorite dish was the shrimp and chive dumplings which were delicious and fried flat instead of typical dumpling shape. The stuffed eggplant (stuffed with shrimp) was also tasty and different from usual eggplant dishes. They have plenty of large round tables for bigger groups and service is pretty quick. Fortune Wheel is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Nassau county that serve authentic Chinese food, with dining tables that can fit a large family. I've tried their dim sum, pan fried noodles, hor fun and stew casseroles and each dish has been up to par and meets my standards. Prices are also reasonable given the current inflation. My folks and I visited my sister out in Long Island, and she said this was the best dim sum out there. I was skeptical at first, but Fortune Wheel is legit! It has a tiny storefront tucked in the strip mall with a million things (BJs, Best Buy, Michael's, AMC, etc.) so it's easy to miss. We were immediately seated on a Saturday afternoon. A lot of Asian customers, and a few table of non-Asians. Good mix. Staff is friendly. The cart ladies come around, but you can just order specific dishes from the waiters and they'll go get them for you. I don't know what they're making fresh in house, but I assume most of it comes from a supplier, but it's all very good. My favorite dishes were the fried taro dumplings, fried shrimp rolls, and spring rolls. Though everything else was at least solid. We just recently moved to Nassau County and we're quite weary we would find someplace local with authentic Chinese food. My sister told me this place is good for dim sum. Situated in between BJs and Best Buy we weren't quite sure to expect. First off, let me say - we love Chinese food. Especially authentic Chinese food. We've lived in Queens where we had access to dim sum / authentic Chinese restaurants in Elmhurst and Flushing. We give Fortune Wheel a big thumbs up! I'm sure if it wasn't for COVID, this place would have more patrons. And probably a good place for small family banquet. The dim sum was fresh, tasty and just GOOD. We had all the traditional dim sum dishes such as har gaw, shui mai, chicken feet, spare rib tips, tripe, turnip cake, steamed rice roll with beef, etc. We got Amoy mai fun and beef chow fun on the go. They gave us plenty and they too were good! Glad that we don't have to shlep all the way to Flushing for good Chinese food. Now to try this place in the evening! read more

When I move to Long Island one thing I was sad about was that they're probably was no dim sum. My family and I used to go have dim sum every Sunday after church when I was a little girl. I finally found fortune wheel. When I arrived to this restaurant, I was greeted immediately. Dim sum and served Saturdays and Sundays, and we went on a Saturday. I was not packed at all and they were friendly and attentive. The waiter came over and asked if I wanted dim sum, And I told him what I wanted. Immediately it was brought out to me. I knew my son didn't want dim sum, so I ordered beef and broccoli and peking pork chop. My son loved it all and ate everything. The dim sum tasted super fresh I watched it come out of the kitchen and it was brought out to me. They frequently checked on me if I was OK and if I needed anything. We recently look for restaurants in NYC Chinatown, Flushing and nearby Hofstra University where our grandson is a freshman. Since we had been Montclair transplant for more than 50 years, we have not a clue where to get a decent meal after hours watching our grandson played baseball. I post a query on a special FB Group, and the kind and thoughtful responses pours in. We decided to give Fortune Wheel a try since responders said "old timer", "authentic Chinese food" and etc. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcome by the one of the staff, and a pot of tea and a small dish of pickled julienne daikon and carrot was immediately placed on our table. The waitstaff were attentive, our waitperson, Ah Mon suggested fresh Buffalo Carp, and I choose Braised Lamb and Foo Jook with fresh Chinese Spinach lined the bottom of the casserole. I then added Foo Jook Sheet Wrapped Vegeterian Filling. All of the dishes were delicious. Even my "selective" hubby thought they were good, and we plan to be back. Updated review: They finally opened back up for seat in dining after the COVID lockdown and they are just as good as ever and even possibly better. They are doing limited hours right now starting at 11am instead of 6 and all the tables are more than 6' apart. They are still making all the classics and man where they missed. Everything was as flavorful as always and the staff super friendly as always. Glad to see them back at it and also you can get takeout and pick what you want from the carts or the oven. We have been here several times and enjoyed this last time the most. Chicken corn soup was very hot with lots of ground chicken in a delicate broth. Sautéed flounder was fresh with sweet and crunchy snow peas. Young chow fried rice had lots of shrimp, ham and roast pork. 9/11/17 Decided not to shop at BJs (next door) while hungry so I stopped in here. I was expecting a dim sum menu or cart. Instead I got a regular menu and was told to order appetizers. NOT THE SAME. Nevertheless I had already begun munching the tasty sesame seasoned pickled radishes and seaweed salad along with the crispy noodles in duck sauce and spicy mustard. Therefore, I decided to stay and order off the menu. I am still giving them good reviews because the food that I ordered was fresh and very tasty. I ordered the shrimp with cashew nuts. It appeared to be steamed with very little sauce. However every bite was flavorful and fresh. It was sautéed with beautiful straw mushrooms, carrots, celery, peas, ginger, and scallions. Fortune Wheel is a Cantonese dim sum restaurant located in Levittown, Nassau County that also serves Cantonese cuisine on their regular menu. Since Fortune Wheel is one of the few genuine dim sum restaurants that serve dim sum from carts, I had to go check it out. The restaurant is located in a large cluster of big box retailers such as Best Buy and BJ's. For a dim sum restaurant, it isn't very big, but it's big enough to serve many varieties of classic dim sum. Ordering dim sum is pretty interesting. There was one cart lady who went around the dining room serving dim sum. Other waiters would fill trays and carry them around the dining room to offer to diners. The waiters would also appear at your table and ask if you wanted any dim sum that you could fetch from a large steam case and heater in the back of the restaurant. I found this to be an interesting arrangement because, you don't usually have both options in a traditional dim sum restaurant. As for tea, instead of offering many varieties, they just bring you the house tea which appears to be black tea (hong cha). This is fine, but wished they offered different varieties. We tried the basics to try to gauge the quality of the dim sum. We tried: * Har kow * Chiu Chow fun kor * Spring rolls * Beef cheong fun * Fried shrimp balls * Fried taro shrimp * Yang chow fried rice (regular menu - not dim sum) * Peking pork chops (regular menu - not dim sum) Having grown up in Manhattan's Chinatown, the food was immediately recognizable as a close cousin to Hop Shing Restaurant in Manhattan's Chinatown. Hop Shing is a classic, very old school dim sum parlor that has been around as long as I can remember (mid 1970's). When I saw the fried taro shrimp and the fried shrimp balls, I thought, "Wow! Everything here tastes like Hop Shing. I had an emotional reaction because of childhood memories and because no other restaurant in Chinatown or anywhere else offers them. In curiosity, I asked the waiter if this restaurant is related to the one in Manhattan and he said no. In any case, eating here made me walk down memory lane when dim sum was not as refined as what you would find now in other dim sum restaurants around the tristate area. We went to Fortune Wheel at around 12:30 p.m. on a busy Sunday afternoon. It took us about 15 minutes to get a table. I found the service to be good. The waiters were very busy doing various things around the dining room, but we were always able to flag one down. In summary, Fortune Wheel is a great place to go to if you want a taste of what dim sum used to be in the 1970's and 1980's before the "Hong Kong-ization" on dim sum happened. This is our go to place whenever we are out in the hood. Reasonable prices and dim sum is comparable to those in Chinatown. The mini egg tarts were warm and flaky. I've been coming to this place for Dim Sum since I was about 12 years old. Maybe even longer than that. This review is solely based on Dim Sum as I've never had anything off the regular menu. The Dim Sum is amazing. I haven't had everything on the Dim Sum menu, but I do enjoy everything that I order. For those of you that don't know what Dim Sum is, allow me to explain. :) Dim Sum is a Chinese dish of small steamed or fried dumplings. It's like a mini appetizer. Perfect for a little snack or a meal if you order multiple small dishes. Each dish is priced accordingly. The cheapest dish here is $2.50, and the most expensive is $10.95. Each dumpling order comes with 3-4 dumplings. They come around with a cart of small steamers and ask you what you want. If what you want isn't on the cart, they will get it for you. Today my mom and I went with: - steam pork bun - steamed shrimp with rice noodle - steamed shrimp dumplings - steamed pork suimai - deep fried shrimp balls - fried shrimp dumplings Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh! Very flavorful. Service was excellent as well. The servers (there are multiple servers because each server has different dumplings to offer) were very attentive and kept coming to our table with different offerings and to ask if we needed or wanted anything. For everything we got the bill came to $38. That's not so bad considering everything we had and that it was mostly shrimp. There are so many different options to chose from off the menu. You can go traditional, or be daring and get chicken feet. They offer Dim Sum mon-fri from 11-4 and on weekends 10-3. read more

The staffs are friendly and will make good recommendations if you are undecided what to get. There were 8 of us and we got about 7 items on the menus which was enough with reasonable pricing. Well I'll start by saying that this was an actual hole in the wall place. It's nestled right between a BJ's and a Best Buy, like drive too fast and you'll miss it! Anyway, let's move on. The service was spot on. Everything came out incredibly fast! We ordered pork buns plus 3 different family style entrees and all were out in less than 15 minutes. Stopped in tonight for some take out, heard good things from my Chinese friend, so we thought we'd give it a shot. The Dim Sum was good, but just reminded me of Wontons with shrimp in them. I was expecting a bit more variety on those because they seem to be really tout their Dim Sum. The General Tso's chicken was the most tender I've ever had, and had a nice flavor to it and I would definitely recommend it. The Egg Rolls were good, but standard fare, and the Spring Roll was an oily mess so it loses a star on that. It was mushy and very strange inside.
