I thought for sure enjoying food from an old favorite and a real restaurant (not a takeout joint) might yield me some classic gravy. But Hunan Dynasty is still clearly lacking. Check out my photo; what you will see is clearly some kind of brown scallion sauce, thin; not thick traditional gravy. No point in ordering these delicious pancakes if they aren't coming with the right sauce to blanket them. Fried rice was good and the fried wontons are passable but not excellent. This place is a Chinese food takeout place except you can go in there and sit at a booth and have a nice little Chinese lunch or dinner there but it is nothing special. The food is decent, but it's just like any other Chinese food takeout place with the exception that you don't feel like disgusting or anything by going there to eat inside. The restraunt is a throw back to the 1970s . They put on the table fat fried noodles with duck sauce and tea in the traditional tea pot. The food is plentiful and excellent. The owner is very friendly. Since it was our first time there, he walked over and introduced himself and even asked where we were from. It appeared that most of the patrons were regulars. We had Wonton Soup, Sesame Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken, everything was delicious and the price was reasonable. Only drawback is that we felt a little rushed. One of the employees brought over our bill while we were still eating. Didn't appreciate that at all, especially because the restaurant was fairly empty and no one was waiting on a table. I really wanted to love this place. The first time I went there, a few years ago, I was given slimy, bad cold sesame noodles. We were not impressed with any of the food after that. Years later because this place is in my neighborhood, I decided to give it another try. Was actually looking forward to it. I ordered Gen Tso's chicken, Beef Chow Fun and Pan fried Dumplings. The Dumplings were delicious, better than I have had in a long time. The orange beef was loaded with celery, carrots, and broccoli and mushrooms. The sauce was watered down and just lacking, not sure if it was because of the veggies. The chow fun had no flavor either. I'm really disappointed that this place is just mediocre. I ordered gluten-free food from Hunan Dynasty for my daughter, and what happened was terrifying. While eating her rice, she started choking and spit out a full metal staple that was literally inside the food (not the bag). It cut her mouth, and as a mother, I was horrified and shaken. I immediately called the restaurant to ask how this could possibly happen, and the man who answered the phone said, "It must be magic." I could not believe the lack of care in that response. I asked for a full refund since we obviously couldn't eat the rest of the food, and at first, they only offered to refund one combo. After pushing back, they finally agreed to refund everything--but only if they came to pick up the food. Sure enough, within minutes someone showed up and collected the half-eaten food. Honestly, I shudder to think about what they did with it afterward. This was not only terrible customer service but a truly dangerous situation. I will never order from here again, and I worry for anyone else who does. read more

I really liked this restaurant. It was nice and clean inside. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were very attentive always filling my water glass and taking any dirty plates off the table. On the table when you arrive is complimentary fried noodles. These noodles are amazing. People come just to order the noodles to go. They also give you a pot of tea. I started with ordering 4 wings for an appetizer. They were really crispy. I didn't like the chicken inside though. However, the crispy skin was great. I also ordered sesame chicken with white rice. My friend ordered sesame beef. The meals were absolutely delicious. At the end, they give you fortune cookies and some pineapples. We were full so didn't finish all our food and they back everything up for you. The bill came to around $50 for my friend and I which wasn't bad. First time I've tried Hunan Dynasty. We did takeout and they were fast & accurate. They have the Chrissy wide noodles & childhood sweet duck sauce. The eggdrop wanton soup was so flavorful. The fried rice has large chunks of pork, egg & vegetables. The sauce for the chicken & broccoli was very loose but the flavor was perfect & everything was cooked well. The roast pork chow fun noodles were gummy & thick. And it had a ton of pork & veggies. This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but lately I have had several issues with them. In the past 6 months or so, they keep on getting take out orders wrong and the quality of the food has gone down. I recently ordered boneless spare ribs. They were so over cooked that they were tough to chew and were sitting in a tub of fatty oil they were cooked in. I don't know if the management or chef changed, but I will be looking for a new restaurant to order from. read more

Went in tonight with my family, had a nice time and the service was fast and great. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken complete meal with an egg roll and soup, as well as general TSO chicken. Both were decent portions and tasty. The wait staff and workers were all very nice and patient with our little child. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING HAIR-BALL IN MY FOOD AND RESTAURANT REFUSED TO REFUND ME! I am beyond frustrated at the owners attitude and unwillingness to simply refund me $24 at a bare minimum! I have been going to Hunan Dynasty for well over a year, and not only that, I travel around 30 minutes each way to get their food! When I got home and started eating the my chicken and broccoli , there was literally an entire HAIRBALL wrapped around my chicken and was the most disgusting thing ive ever witnessed! I immediately called the restaurant and told them about the disgusting food hazard and mentioned that I took pictures which I was willing to send them to look at. The owner proceeds by saying "thats impossible", as opposed to apologizing for this disgusting finding. After explaining that I don't even have that color hair nor length, the owner said, bring it in. I told him that I live 30 minutes away and can not bring it in, nor would I drive all the way there as he should refund me at the MINIMUM! The owner refused to refund me, and I am so disappointed and disgusted by the customer service provided at this location. My family & friends go-to place for Chinese in the area! I've been here many many times. Fast service, clean, and delicious food. The prices are average. The food quality surpasses all other Chinese restaurants that I've tried in my 22 years of living in the area. I always order the sesame chicken with brown rice. Met friends there for dinner. On a Saturday at 8pm. Was not crowded and we were seated right away. Ordered the vegetable chow fun. When it arrived, it was shrimp chow fun. We called the waiter over and told him of the mistake. His reaction was "you are mistaken. Are you sure you didn't order the shrimp?." I told him it was not a mistake, I am a vegetarian. Annoyed, he took the dish back. It took a longer time to bring back a second dish than it did the first. As I was eating, I found a shrimp in my dish! Again, we called him over and pointed out the shrimp. He said that maybe the staff was preparing shrimp next to the dish and one fell in. It appeared to me that they just took the shrimp out of the dish. For me, a vegetarian by choice, it was just an inconvenience. However, for someone who is allergic to shellfish, it could have been disastrous. With such a wide variety of Asian restaurants, will certainly not return. a little hit or miss for me. owner is wonderful always makes you feel welcome. wait staff is not so friendly. most of the time food is very good, but our last visit something was off. sesame shrimp was so overcrowd it was hard dry and inedible. looked pretty but could not eat it. we had to mention to the waitress and she was very good about it and brought out sesame chicken instead, which was good. but we had to ask a bus boy to help us get the Waitress's attention. I have really only done take out here. The chicken Lo Mein is really great. I also like their egg drop soup a lot. I put my order by phone, service is fast, and my order is really for pick up in 15-20 minutes. The dine in area looks great and seems casual and comfortable. Great place to eat. Can we start with YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!!! We actually came around the area for bubble tea lol and my girlfriend saw this spot and said let's check it out and see. We noticed it was Chinese / Japanese fusion food and the price was decent so we sat down and ordered. Definitely traditional because as we sat we got served hot tea and those crispy fried wonton chips. I ordered sushi and gyoza dumplings. The gyoza was fried to perfection and the sushi was made to order and fresh!!! I had the shrimp tempura and California roll and it was just yummy!! My girl had the shrimp chow mei fun and that was also really good. The foot was great portions as well and we ended up taking down home. Hunan dynasty offers amazing take out chinese food. The food is fresh and not too salty or oily. We enjoyed the chicken with broccoli, chicken lo mein and shrimp with lobster sauce. We've ordered for pick-up, delivery, and have eaten there as well. Food is good, some dishes superior to what we've seen elsewhere, and reasonably priced. I also appreciate how they will modify an order without additional charge. For examples, (1) they have "Tun Tin Shrimp" (for which other places have similar names, e.g., "Lake Tung Ting Shrimp") that comes with mixed vegetables. I am leary of mixed vegetables (because I don't enjoy snow peas, water chestnuts or marinated carrots), so I ask them to include only mushrooms, onions and broccoli, and they have no problem accomodating my request. (2) Recently I ordered Triple Delight with beef, chicken and jumbo shrimp and they had no problem and didn't charge extra for substituting roast pork for the chicken. The portions are often large enough, so that you can get two meals out of them. Their large crispy Chinese noodles come with every meal and are addictive, either for dipping in "duck sauce" or in soups. Deliveries and pick-ups have always been on time. read more

Horrible experience. We arrived at 8pm, ordered dinner, while we are eating they start mopping the floors! The smell of Clorox was nauseating, they're banging chairs around, totally disrespectful to diners. The barbq ribs were tough, the pork fried rice was sticky and clumpy, the egg roll was dry and tasteless. I don't know what happened to this place, it used to be good.
