Only been here a few times but it wasn't anything special really. I ordered a banana split, a burger Large drinks but by the time I paid and got my food my Banana split was halfway melted and just sitting there. They handed me regular drinks and I reminded them I ordered Large drinks and they said inorder to upgrade It'll be an extra $2 dollars or something. I didn't upgrade because my ice cream was already almost fully melted and they said it there wasn't anything they could do. I have no plans to go back. read more

We went in just tonight and the service was spot on. The food was great. Their bacon burgers are some of the best I've tasted. And of course the ice cream was the best you can get anywhere. The only reason I didn't give them a five star was because the cones were stale. But considering the way we were treated the last time we were here it was vast difference. read more

Arrived at 11:50 for lunch. Inside and out, the facility needs work. No TP in the bathroom. Lots of dusty dirty looking old equipment like piles of old light bulbs piled high overhead in the kitchen. We were the only patrons inside, 1 car at the drive through, three person crew on hand. Ordered at the counter, order taker was pleasant and friendly. When handed to us fries were tossed all over in the bag and there were no condiments included although they were printed on the order slip. Great place to stop or just chill. This place is just like the old school Fosters, not the new chain ice cream stops. They do it all here and that's the way a soft serve should be like. The acid test for me is a vanilla swirl and it was over the top. The medium was like a large size. My buddies got the mixed & chocolate dipped cones which was cool too. What a wonderful, classic place with super friendly employees. We stop here every time we go to Mammoth-both ways! The burgers, fries and shakes are delicious and the restaurant is incredibly clean. I don't come here as much as I would like to b/c it's a little bit of a drive from Lancaster just to get ice cream, but if I'm ever in the area or passing through I try to go. Burgers here definitely aren't bad but: The patties here are very thin and the bun is cold/doughy instead of warm and soft. Flavor is just okay, but the onions/pickles/tomato are usually very fresh and cut the way I like them (very thin onions, medium pickle, medium-thick tomato). I don't recall ever getting a green/crunchy tomato like every other drive-thru place gives 95% of the time. Despite all this though, the burger just doesn't "do it" for me like In n Out or even Carls Jr or even rarely sometimes a Whopper (most of the time Burger King is sooo bad now, they used to be soooo good like 15+ years ago, what happened to BK, dang...), anyway, burgers from Fosters, for some reason, just don't have the richness that a burger should. Maybe I just haven't gotten one in too long and am not remembering correctly, I will have to get one next time and update the review. The hot dogs are extremely good though, way way better than Sonic or Wienerschnitzel. Anything you get you can't go wrong. The ham n Cheese melt needs double ham to be enjoyable, otherwise it's kind of a bread sandwich. Wish they would just have double amount of ham as the "regular" amount they always put on a normal order. I have a feeling that they used to put more ham, in the old days of operation, and probably sometime in the mid 2010's during the economic downturn, they cut the amount in half, and just never went back to using the same amount. Probably the same thing w/ the burger patties, I would guess too. And the ice cream. Yes indeedy. Everything so good. I prefer a delicious peach shake myself. A medium is like every other places "large"; a large from here is like a family size, and an XL, yes an XL is available for milkshakes, is like taking a gallon tub of milkshake home. So, so amazing. They have the good old timey yellow rich vanilla, not the fake airy white mouth-coating chemical junk that everywhere else offers. read more

You know that first gringo taco you ever had? Back in 1975 at a friend's house -- soft corn tortilla, ground meat, orange mystery cheese, tomatoes, maaaaybe some lettuce with the requisite amount of red-colored grease. They still have it here at Foster's in Rosamond. And it is sooo good. They cook everything to order here. You can get that extra crispy corn dog that looks like it survived a nuclear blast. Or grilled onions and extra pickle on your hamburger. The malts are made with real malt powder. The rest of the ice cream is just as good -- it is soft serve. A lot of the chow comes out of the freezer, but it tastes fresh. The burgers are pretty good. I love the Texas Toast Ham and Cheese sandwich (have 'em add some tomato to make it realllly good.) In a town with three fast food places close to the freeway, Fosters is definitely the place to go to get a hamburger, onion rings (with ranch) and a vanilla shake in Rosamond! read more

Driving up the 14 freeway, I always noticed the FF sign and never really thought of stopping by. Mainly because my hubs and I grab a frozen treat at McDonald's, but we finally got a chance to stop by one weekend and was slightly disappointed at the quality of the frozen treats we ordered. I normally get blizzards with heath from I've cream shops but they didn't have that as an option so I got their form of a blizzard with snickers. Sounds delicious right?! Eeeh.... The snicker pieces were rock hard, as if the candy had been stale and probably should've been thrown out when they opened. My hubs ordered the peach milkshake which came with what tasted like diced peaches from a can. It's nice that driving to/through the middle of the desert, there is an ice cream shop you can stop at, that's conveniently off the 14 N freeway and offers s drive thru, but I guess you gotta get something you know will be fresh like a soft serve. The service was quick and the price was a little steep but I may stick with ordering a vanilla dipped in chocolate cone if we stop by here again. read more

I loved this place! My last experience was horrible, stopped by after a horse show. Went through the drive thru (nice and wide- trailer friendly) stopped at the intercom to order and no one came after talking into the intercom for 7 minutes. Went around to the window since there was only one truck ahead of us. Upon arriving to the window the young lady said she could not service us. We explained we cannot get back in line since we had trailer if she could take our order and we can pull off to the side. She told us we can only order by getting in line all over. Mind you all we wanted was drinks. Understand we can't wait at the window because it would back them up, but at least take our order. read more

I've loved Foster Freeze for years, today my husband picked me up a salad. The lettuce was brown and wilted, no cucumbers or tomatoes. It was bad lettuce and a hand full of cubed chicken thrown on top, and the dressing tasted sour. I tried calling to let them know about the dressing and someone answered and when I asked to speak to the manager they hung up. Not sure what's going on but they've lost my business. read more

Stopped by and ordered 3 hot fudge sundae's. When the employee handed the sundaes, I instantly was taken back on how it looked. The ice cream was barely filled in the cup and the fudge was just a clump of fudge on the side. Cold to the touch. I asked the employee what happened to the hot fudge sundaes and if they could kindly remake this as the fudge was cold and a huge clump, just not appealing whatsoever. The first lady was rude, she said their hot fudge sundae machine is broken so they have to microwave it then add it to the ice-cream. I honestly don't think it was microwaved just by the way the fudge looked, it looked like someone just scooped it out of a jar. Communication!! Bringing it up to the customers attention that the hot fudge sundae machine is broken would have been nice, if I knew that prior when ordering, I would not have ordered it. Needless to say I asked for a refund and the gentleman was nice to refund me. We then drove to McDonalds and were able to get actual hot fudge sundaes. Locally owned, it has the best (non-restaurant) food you will find in Rosamond, Mojave and California City. The vibe is 1950s classic cars. They make their taco meat fresh on site and hand carved pastrami sandwiches, not to mention their Big Boss Hamburger which has and onion ring and bacon on top. What more can a girl ask for?
