Very good burger and fries. It's nice to go somewhere you can true lay order your burger they way you like it - to include the doneness of the meat. Our burgers were cooked to order. We ordered, and received medium burgers. They're very generous with the toppings too. The fresh cut froes were perfectly cooked and a good portion. We've decided we liked it better than our local 5-guys and Fudruckers. We ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 drinks at just over $20. Good food, great deal, and friendly atmosphere. read more

Amazingly this is only my first visit to Foster's Grill after living in the area for several years. I ordered the 1/2 pound burger basket with fries and a drink. While I thought the burger was above average the 1/2 pound burger for nearly $4 more than the 1/4 pounder is not worth the money. Order from the "kids/light fare" menu and this is a good value. They even have a few beers on tap, although the selection is a bit underwhelming. I will be back. read more

Had lunch here today because the Foster's in Herndon has closed - boo, hoo. So we looked to see where the closest one was. Had a great "char- broiled" burger and their yummy onion rings. I'm so disgusted at this Foster's dishonesty over taking certain credit cards. We went here for lunch today, and when we ordered and tried to pay with our credit card, a new cashier was being trained. This new cashier said she'd accept American Express. When the other older cashier who was training her heard, the older cashier told the new cashier to discourage customers from using American Express, and only say that Foster's accepts Visa or MC. The new cashier said that's not true, and Foster's accepts all credit cards, but the older cashier said that she must say they only accept MC or Visa, and only if the customer does not have another credit card to use to accept American Express. I don't know why Foster's feels like they have to lie to their customers, but their food is mediocre and expensive. I expect some honesty. I cannot believe that the management is ok with blatantly lying about what credit cards to accept so they can save a dollar, when our meals are generally 20-30 bucks. I think if you want to nickle and dime customers, fine, then you won't get our business. I will be reporting their dishonest practice to American Express (as I am certain Foster's is violating their Merchants' agreement) and the BBB. read more

Fosters is okay. Unfortunately the prices are out of line with the quality of the food and the service leaves something to be desired. I used to frequent Fosters when I lived a bit closer to the Vienna location and I still made my way back there from time to time. Sadly, however, after my last visit I don't think I'll be giving them any more business. The whole experience was sub par, even for the fast food-esque experience I've always been used to at Fosters. The girl at the counter enjoyed a conversation with some friends for a few minutes before getting around to greeting us and taking our order whereupon she immediately commented, sarcastically, that we looked like we were having a great day. That didn't bother me so much, nor did the rambling banter she carried on with while taking our order. What did bother me was the complete rudeness and lack of tact she exhibited. I had filled out my order sheet with what I wanted and she had gone over it in black marker as they always do. I noticed she had forgotten to circle the option for pickles and I pointed it out to her only to be met with "Yeah, I got it." and she didn't bother circling it. Did I get the pickles? Nope. Also, when I had signed the credit card receipt and left no tip she decided it would be a good idea to say "Oh, come on, man. You're not going to support my college education?" as I was putting the card back in my wallet and grabbing some cash to put in the tip jar. Due to her rude comment I decided to toss only a dollar in, where she would have gotten more had she kept her mouth shut. She decided to follow that up with another sarcastic "Thanks for the dollar, man." At this point she realized she'd forgotten to put in a milkshake we had on our order, probably because she was too preoccupied with being snarky about the tip. When the food finally did come there were no pickles on my burger, a meager amount of fries, the boneless wings we ordered we so under sauced as to basically be chicken fingers, and the cheese on the burger was essentially a slice of imitation cheddar. Not to mention, the woman who brought my food out had just emptied the garbage and was still holding the bag in one hand when she brought my burger to the table. That's less than sanitary and even less appetizing. Really, the only thing Fosters has going for it is that they have decent milkshakes but with a Cold Stone Creamery just two blocks away that's not enough of a reason for me to return. The price for two burgers with fries and sodas, 12 wings and a milkshake came to around $36. At that price you'd be much better off going to a place like Elevation Burger or BGR, or save a few dollars and head to Five Guys. read more

Very small hamburgers, a cheesy interior, boxed salads that have brown leaves, another "Vienna institution" like the Vienna Inn where locals seem to love any place that has been there for over 20 years, no matter how lousy it is. Slow, mediocre, and no better than Burger King. read more

I am getting seriously disappointed with this place! This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, and I made sure to stop by every single time I was home from school. However recently I have grown tired of the increased prices, smaller portions and the removal of the daily deals they used to have (50 cent wings on Wednesday, bottomless fries Friday), but I have still returned because its good food and good service. However today, that part changed for the worse! I went in and ordered 2 entrees with half baskets of fries, but not the full meal with a drink. However the cashier completely ignored the part of each order where I checked off half basket of Fries. He charged me and I paid, not realizing the fries were missing, because they don't give you an itemized receipt and I hadn't added everything up specifically. Then I got my food and realized the fries were missing, so I went up and told the employee I had ordered fries but he must have forgotten to put them on. He then charges me for a thing of fries which is fine (although at that point it would have been nice to comp them) but doesn't put in an order, he just yells "basket of fries" into the kitchen. I then stand around for almost 10 minutes waiting for these fries. However almost all of that 10 minutes I was staring directly at the fries, but nobody brought them out. The problem was that the cashier didn't say they were to go, and there was no number assigned, so they just sat there in a basket for here. I had to stand staring at the bar for almost 10 minutes before one of the cooks finally asked the cashier what I was waiting on. Only then did they realize the fries just sitting there were my fries to go. The cooks put them in a to go basket, but I still waited 3 minutes for an employee to hand me the to go basket that was 20 feet away from me. What pissed me off the most about this wasn't the incompetence, but rather the lack of care. The owner/ manager walked by me probably 3 times, and could clearly see I was pissed off and waiting on something, but never asked me what was going on. The cashier never once apologized for the mistake that wasted 10 minutes of my time, and made the rest of my food cold. He was too busy chatting with friends and employees to pay enough attention to the order that was just sitting there. I have probably been to Fosters Grille over 50 times in my life, but I will not be returning unless I get some positive response and apology from management in regards to this review/situation. read more

Good burgers with better ambiance than Five Guys. It feels more like a local joint than a drug store/cafeteria, which is what Five Guys conveys. But it shares the distinction with Five Guys of offering NO healthy side dishes. Would it be so hard to throw a potato in the microwave? Or leave the cheddar cheese off the iceberg lettuce side salad for which there is no light dressing? Or make a batch of soup? So basically unless you eat fries, you'll get a good burger but leave feeling not-quite-full. read more

My first time here and I've lived in Vienna for 10 years! Best burgers by far, love the char tasty goodness of Foster's! I would recommend this over five guys any day. Customer service was superb also. Try their chocolate cake moist and delicious!!! read more

My co-workers seem to go to this place at least once a week for lunch but honestly I can't figure out why. The fries are not even worth eating, and it takes a lot for me not to eat fries, and the burgers have been burned every time I've ordered them. The chicken sandwiches are ok but nothing special. The chili sauce atop the nachos was worse than that from a jar that had been sitting in a pantry for months past any expiration date! Fries were limp and soggy! Never saw a server again after food was delivered! I envied any dog being fed Alpo anywhere as he was being fed better!!! read more

THIS IS THE PLACE FOR A HAMBURGER!!! I consider myself an expert. I grew up in California, home of the drive-in, and got to go to one of the first McDonald's (they don't taste like that any more). Foster's is my go-to. Chargrilled good meat (not tasting old, or just floppy brown stuff), and the FRIES ARE THE BEST! Go on Mondays, and it's all you can eat fries. Sometimes it's a little noisy when the soccer teams or baseball teams are celebrating in there. The kids running around and whining for money for the arcade gets to be a bit much, so that's why we go on the off days. I compare every other burger to Foster's. We've been to the Warrenton location as well. Just as tasty!! Also, the price is more than fair for what you get, which can't be said for all the silly "yuppie" restaurants around here now. read more

We love this place. It's our favorite place for burgers and fries. They have fresh squeezed lemonade as well. It doesn't look like a high-class burger place, but burgers are meant to be casual. :) We visited another one in Manassas and also thoroughly enjoyed it. We are now fans of the entire restaurant chain. read more

Staff is exceptional and friendly and give a 5. Food is average which gives this place a 4 overall.

Would like to give it 3.5 but no option. Slow service, loud, but that I what you go to fosters for. If you are looking for filet mignon, you don't go to a place like this, good enough food and arcade. More of a place for soccer parties, but its worth it. read more

This is a nice burger joint which is a local chain (of which I've only visited the Vienna location). Its a counter-order setup. I find the ordering process confusing, having to make markings on a card for what you want, instead of just stating your preferences to the order-taker at the counter. A meal for two will cost in the range of $20, and the food is good. read more

The food is always excellent. Last time I was there I decided to try the hot dog and it was terrific. Hamburgers are always good there as are the onion rings. It is a bit pricey but for the quality and taste I will go out of my way to pay more for food that is consistently good. There is not much ambience to the place but its a burger joint, right? The char grill flavor is what makes the burgers. I have never been disappointed at Foster's Grille. read more

i have to agree with another poster -- the burgers are hit and miss depending on the cook. sometimes they are off the chart delicious, and other times you get a dry and overcooked burger (feels like some sort of burger lottery when we go there! it's still worth the risk, but why foster's why??) five stars for sure when you get the cooking times as perfect as the ingredients read more
