I made my own veggie bowl.
    Cynthia D.

I made my own bowl and it was delicious! I had rice noodles, black beans, greens, spicy vegetables, beets, sliced almonds, and veggie "meat" balls...it was $16 but so worth it. I wish I would have added the veggie broth. Very cool spot, too. I would definitely return. The only down side is the limited parking. I love what Biddeford has done with the mills and downtown!

Amazing build your own bowl-almost too beautiful to eat!!

Went back a few times even though I live very far away and I always make a point to go there if I'm in the area because the food is just SO GOOD!!!

Khao San Noodle bowl.. SO GOOD

This is such an amazing spot! I've been to The Garden Bar twice now and it is SO good! The menu is awesome, they have so many options for different bowls and have great vegan options too, including the baked goods! So far I've tried the cheeseburger salad and the Khao San noodle bowl, both were absolutely incredible. And the portions are really large! They also have a nice selection of healthier craft sodas and house iced teas. Everything I've tried so far has been 10/10 and the owner is so kind and helpful. Overall couldn't recommend this spot enough!

Yum. The garden bar is so good! It's so large that I can eat for two meals. Pictured is the Sante Fe.

We had to throw it out. The fresh spring rolls are always very good. Most dishes we have ordered do not have enough sauce We love that everything is fresh and not gloppy but a bit more sauce would be great. We aren't giving up on you, more consistency would be great.

This restaurant is located 7 minute drive from the UNE campus (basically the closest restaurant to…read morethe campus)...very convenient if you're there for a sports events, and need to pick up dinner. Food was good! I tried the fresh garden roll, the crispy veggie spring rolls, and 3 bubble drinks. The fresh garden roll was amazing. Filled with tons are tightly rolled veggies and fresh herbs and just the right amount of vermicelli rice noodles. They came with a Thai sweet chili dipping sauce and peanut sauce. Both sauces were good, but the peanut sauce was a little too thick...it didn't work to dip the roll into it...you have scoop it on the roll, but it tasted delicious. The crispy veggies spring rolls were perfectly slim, and fried to perfection. The sweet chili dipping sauce was perfect for these. Again, just the right amount of rice vermicelli noodle, and lots of veggies. I tried 3 flavors of bubble tea...a lavender milk tea, mango tea and a strawberry tea. All were very good. The amount of tapioca pearls was a little disappointing...could have added a bit more, but despite that, they were delicious. The atmosphere is a casual take out restaurant. There are 2 tables, and a counter that runs along the windows with stools, so one could eat in if you wanted to. There are also a limited amount of Asian groceries on shelves next to the counter...actually a good selection of pantry basics one might need. There is a well stocked bottled drinks cooler as well for picking up drinks along with the take-out. The service was friendly. A teenager boy worked the counter, and lots of people seemed to be working in the kitchen. It definitely felt like a family run restaurant. I placed my order at the counter and was told it would take about 10 minutes. I sat at a table while I waited for the food. I didn't see a sign for a restroom, so I asked where it was. I was told it was the door that says "employees only". The bathroom was clean. When my food was ready, the boy brought the bag to the table where I was sitting, and put the 3 drinks in a cardboard drink holder to make it easier to carry. So nice. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

An excellent third stop on our impromptu culinary tour of Portland, and our party grew from two to four. I had the Shanghai cowboy cocktail, the bourbon hits, and you can definitely taste the mint more than the guava. All the foods in order of my preference, this was a tough list to rank because everything had great flavor and came out hot!! Lobster rangoon: yes, I would love to have another order of these! Great flavor, nice crisp wonton, just a wonderful rangoon experience! Pork pot stickers: mmm, love me some pot stickers, and these lived up to my expectations, great flavor and texture! Sa cha chicken skewers: so very tender, great flavor, would gladly eat again! Garlic meatball skewers: good flavor, nice dipping sauce, happy we added these to our selection. Shanghai soup dumplings: in general a fun food item, great flavor and they were highly recommended by the everyone who suggested we eat here. Mongolian beef: the beef had great flavor, the broccoli was cooked properly, not mushy, the onions were well caramelized; delicious! Har gow: good flavor, nice steamed dumplings, glad we tried them! Peking duck buns: my friend was in love with these, it was good, but not something I was immediately obsessed with. More than enough food for the three of us adults! The toddler had an order of steamed noodles. I definitely forgot a few photos, but the food was just so good!!

Its got plants everywhere and cool asian inspired trellises…read morefor them to climb on - there is a good mix of high top and low top seating, a bar area that looks like it could be part of a speakeasy - dark, and eclectic , anyways, while I appreciate all that - how did the food stack up? 3 things to go over - Lobster rangoon, Duck Bao Buns and Orange beef. Lobster rangoon, order them yesterday. They're absolutely amazing. Little sweet, little tangy, rich, very light exterior, plenty of filling; they checked all the boxes. I wish an order came with double! (I wouldn't judge if you put in a double order). The Duck Bao, for me, would be a pass for next time. They were good- just not standout. The bao bun itself was very nice and pillowy, just as you'd want, so they are working with a great foundation. I just wanted a little more out of the flavor for the duck. Maybe it could have used some freshness in there, there was a touch of scallion and some soy based sauce in there but could have benefited from some veg like shredded carrot or daikon or something else. Either that or it would have needed to lean even harder into the umami, caramel- deep flavors. Onto the orange beef. I didn't know how to feel about this when it was first put in front of me. The portion seemed okay, but I realized as I kept eating, the pile of beef wasn't going down as quick as I thought it would (good problem to have!) the beef was crisp, the orange flavor was tangy and sweet - it was really tasty. Beef wasn't tough but also wasn't super tender. Not good nor bad. My only complaint here is that there could have been a little more bok choy and the rice was not very easy to eat with chopsticks. It was a jasmine rice from what it seemed and it didn't have any starch to stick together at all. To pick it up I was having to press the beef into the rice to stick it all together. Not super easy to eat but maybe its just a me problem.

One was called a salad of some sort (sorry, blacked out) and it was delicious. The other was just as good. Ordered the eggplant app - do not leave without this. Absolutely amazing. For food, we ordered a rice bowl with pork sausage and a noodle bowl (with lobster and clams). Don't remember the names. Both were absolutely fantastic. The flavor profiles are just incredible. Service: Great Food: We started off with soft serve and the seasonal earl gray outshined the house honey. The earl gray had a great flavor topped with an excellent syrup while the honey was mild and the chocolate shell didn't add anything, although the 'honeycomb' bits were delic. Crispy eggplant special - good, very small portion Pork katsu sandwich - pretty solid, interesting pickle Pad mee korat - good, small portion Value: Aside from the soft serve, the portions were very small for ~$17 price point, and the food was good but aside from the earl gray soft serve, didn't amaze to the point of paying a higher price point. Overall I did like this meal but portions were small for prices. I hope they keep the earl gray soft serve around!

It is a tragedy that I was only planning to visit Portland for less than a day, so I didn't have the opportunity to dine in at the Green Elephant. However I would contemplate driving up from Boston just to have their Singapore noodles again. It was so flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture. The level 2 spice in the online ordering menu was not spicy at all, but the food still had a good amount of sauce and flavor. The dish was definitely heavy on the noodles and probably only had 4-5 bite-sized pieces of tofu for protein, but the noodles certainly were my favorite part. And for only about $15-20 per main dish, this is one of the more accessible/affordable restaurants for vegan options in Portland!
