Everything about this place is excellent. The environment, service, food and cocktails are all outstanding. We'll be back!

So happy FSE is back! The original location was closer to me, but do love everything going on in the downtown Alpharetta area. The space is beautiful and reminds me a lot of the former location. The food was, as usual, outstanding. Service was fine. I'll start with my favorites - the Calabrian Pork Sausage Cavatelli was fabulous. Perfect combination of flavors & textures. The Braised Beef Sugo was delicious, as was the Chicken Bolognese. The arugula with the herb ricotta on top was a perfect touch. The only things that didn't impress were the bread service...$8 for 4 delicious, but small (think the size of the palm of your hand) slices of bread to share with a table of 4. I also did not appreciate what was just short of an eye roll when we asked the food runner for salt & pepper. It was almost as if it was a personal affront to her that we should ask for it. What can I say? I like a fresh cracked pepper on my pasta. And you don't ask for pepper without salt - that's just bad manners. The opera cake and apple galette were nice endings to a delicious meal. I'd frankly been complaining about the quality of food north of Atlanta, but foundation is every bit as quality as the city. Everything Was delicious and perfectly, beautifully plated. Bread was great, mushroom ravioli was really pretty and quite good. I really enjoyed the duck breast and scallops though I had to admit to my fiancé that the scallops were too salty and a little over. read more

I have waited 2 years for this restaurant to reopen I'm so happy that it's better then it was before! The octopus is bar far the best octopus that I've ever had in my life! The care to the food can be tasted in each dish. I've been here 3 times in the last week and look forward to many more! With much excitement I dined at FSE with my daughter and son-in-law tonight. All I can say is Chef Mel and staff hit it out of the park! Justin our server was warm, engaging and a joy to be around. Our meal started with the octopus and escargot. Followed by scallops and the Calabrian chili pork Pappardelle pasta. Wrapped up with pot de crème and opera cake. Each and every bite delicious! Been going to this place for years at its old location and glad to see it hasn't missed a step moving to Alpharetta. There are a lot of elements from the old location that you'll recognize in the new place and the food is still on point. read more

Love the aesthetics. Service was wonderful... we were sat by the window into the kitchen which I absolutely loved. We got the mussels and then hanger steak entrees. The steak was great, but the potato entree tasted like an under-seasoned hash brown. Everything (drinks included) were great except for the potato side. We will definitely be back! read more

Phenomenal dinner last evening. I had the chicken bolognese which was pretty amazing. Everyone at our table enjoyed their dish. Maybe a bit on the pricy side for casual dining. But again, food was excellent. Strange that they didn't have Tanquerey, or Hendricks Gin for my G &T, but the bartender had SKILL and the drink was terrific. One of our friends had a bourbon drink off the menu and it was again, terrific(epic?). Dessert was average some layered cake item. Service was also phenomenal. Not crowded outside & overall a great evening. I can officially say there are two restaurants in downtown Alpharetta (the other is Rena's) that are great. I think all of the rest are pretty average at best. If you include Avalon, then add Rumi's. Pretty much end of list unless you go to Milton, then add Milton's in area. read more

This was our first visit to the "new" restaurant and we were not disappointed! The menu is a mix of old and new, and I really enjoyed a new item on the menu - tortelli (a ravioli like pasta) with duck - which was delicious. The ambiance is similar to the old restaurant, and I can't wait until the outdoor area is opened (in the next few weeks). Great job Mel and team! read more

We have been here twice in the span of two weeks. We cannot get enough of this place. Confit ribs are to die for. Love the pâté starter also. The mushroom ravioli and scallops were heaven. I've been a loyal customer since way before Covid at the old location and have dined at the Alpharetta location several times. My last Yelp review for you was the most glowing I've ever written for a restaurant. This past Sunday the food slipped mightily. The two orders of the fish were just plain disappointing. The fish was undercooked and the garnish not fresh. The chicken bolognese a lump of pasta with little taste. The scallops were good though, tasty and cooked perfectly. All in all, I felt let down. It was a special celebration (nice touch with the signed note by the staff) at our favorite restaurant. My guess is because it was Sunday, the second team was in charge of the kitchen. But, consistently is a mark of a superior restaurant. You are a top notch restaurant and your prices reflect that. Don't let a loyal customer question whether a return visit is worth the effort. Do better. I know you can. read more

The food was a bit overpriced but really tasty! We have been to a lot of restaurants, but this was the first time we were charged for extra dressing for the salad, which i thought was crazy since the salad costs $13. Once again, everything was good, but maybe you should not charge for extra dressing! read more

First time here after looking at other reviews. Octopus served with a light crust and chicken chorizo. The mushroom ravioli is served in a light sauce. After looking at the website I understand now that there is French flare. Highly recommend for those that are willing to eat outside their American comfort zone! read more

Very expensive relative to the portion size; especially when considering that the two dishes we had, were pasta dishes with either chicken or beef; and the proteins were only about 3 or 4 oz. in each. They were good, but not over the top excellent. read more

Our service was very good and the food was small portions but well done. We enjoyed the charcuterie, bread and sardines and muscles out of the can can. It was a little unusual. We had the scallops and beef that were cooked nicely and would go back sometime next year. Our beverages were good just not the best in that area as there are so many great places around there. read more

Fine dining in Alpharetta! We had a wonderful experience this past week. It was our first time dining here and we can't wait to go back. The atmosphere was great, our server Luis was wonderful and knowledgeable, and the food was amazing. There is convenient parking right out back. We had the bread, Caesar salad, Octupus and a small portion of the mushroom ravioli to start. All great, but the mushroom ravioli really stands out, so yummy. For dinner we had the halibut and scallops, again all delicious. We finished it off with the vanilla pot de creme, which was a great choice. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed! read more

Ate here on Father's Day. We had chicken liver pate and escargot for apps. For meals we had pastas, halibut and steak. The meals and apps were excellent. Service was very good also. Definitely will be returning, if you are in Alpharetta area this should be one of your 'tries' read more

I have been counting down the days until FSE opened and chose to try it for the first time (again) last night on my birthday. When we arrived I was given a birthday card signed by the staff which was a nice welcoming touch. Unfortunately the hospitality stopped there. Our server was quite cold and not welcoming at all. We had just sat down and while we were deciding on drinks she said she'd get us started with some bread and butter, was that ok. We said sure sounds great! Turns out that was for an $8 bread service that included four half-pieces of bread. We did not appreciate how that was handled - deceptive to say the least - and the bread service itself was not at all worth $8. While assumed paid bread service is expected in Europe, this is the United States, and it is not that way here. Also, a bread service in Europe would be half that price and much more abundant - and most importantly, expected. In addition, our questions about the menu were met with slightly annoyed responses. Moving on to food, the chicken bolognese was absolutely outstanding. Inventive, well balanced, and flavorful. The house made pasta was perfect. My husband got the mushroom scallops which were incredibly creative and overall a nice, if small, dish. The apple galette was wonderful and the homemade ice cream was a delicious accompaniment. This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants, if not the best, OTP. We will definitely be back. I just hope that the service next time is more in line with the excellence of the rest of the experience. read more

Tremendous experience for my wife's birthday. We brought a large group of 18+ ppl that we'd organized with the restaurant's help ahead of time. Service could not have been better. And the food was even more exceptional than I remember it being at their original location. I'm really happy to see them doing so well in their new spot. Congratulations to the whole team. We've been a few times now since they opened. The entrees have been good and the atmosphere nice. Service has been very mediocre. Our most recent visit was date night with my wife. We got there at 9pm and decided to sit at the bar to have a drink and appetizers. We wanted a craft cocktail and tried to engage with our bar tender but he seemed more interested in getting the bar broken down and getting out the door than helping us pick a $18 cocktail. We ended up picking wine and I do think they have a well thought selection of wines. We had ordered the charcuterie board which came instantly. Like less than 2 minutes from when we ordered. It was at best an after thought. The meat was sliced super thick and had the appearance of prepackaged meats and cheese from a big box store that had been moved to a butcher board. It was work to get wine refills and so at 9:30 or so we decided to go somewhere else for entrees. Of course the bartender was still very busy closing down even though the kitchen was open until 10:00. Overall the restaurant looks nice and we have had some delicious meals there. However, like most restaurants in Alpharetta, the staff leaves much to be desired. read more

We are so happy that Foundation is in Alpharetta! We have been twice since they opened and each time has been a treat. The food is elevated, it reminds me of what you would get in the city. Brought my kids in recently and had an excellent meal during the week. So nice to have FSE back and in a great location in downtown Alpharetta. They have a nice sized dining room with large windows for natural light and similar design elements to their prior Roswell location; a soon to be open grab and go market in the front; a nice sized bar, with high tops; and what will become our new go to patio once it warms up in the Spring. The service was excellent and the food was easily better than anything we've had in months. The owners were warm and friendly, despite working through the challenges of reopening their restaurant. We tried some old favorites and a couple dishes we hadn't had before and were pleased with each dish. We had the confit pork ribs, burrata, mushroom ravioli, pork sausage cavatelli and the vanilla pot de creme. I would highly recommend each. We'll be adding FSE into our regular rotation. read more
