This review is solely based on my very brief visit to Four Paws. I took my dog there for an evaluation for day care. The owner came in to do the evaluation, and literally five minutes later comes back, just hands me my dog and says, "NOPE. Not gonna take him. He tried to bite another dog." and WALKED AWAY. My dog has NEVER bitten another dog and he's a puppy. I get it, they want to make sure all the dogs get along and it's a safe place, I appreciate that. And if my dog randomly gave off a bad vibe as dogs sometimes do, that's fine. But as a professional, his attitude SUCKED. He was completely abrupt and didn't even give me the time of day, maybe offer an explanation, suggestions, explain it to me better in detail. I was shocked. My dog is a bull terrier. Maybe they're a "breed-ist" place and don't give bull terriers the time of day, I don't know. I immediately took him to another day care nearby and the evaluation went great. They loved him and he had a great time. read more

Great fun for our dog, Maddie (our blue nose pit). She loves attending the Saturday or Sunday doggie day care. We love Dwayne and this facility loves your pets!!! Their facility is clean and the dogs love it there. FPDC has taught Maddie to play nicely with other dogs and she's so happy coming and going. The other customers are also very friendly and nice, its not like walking into a private school with lots of snobby rich parents with perfect children. Everyone is verey cool and the vibe is GREAT! We absolutely love Four Paws! We can't say enough good things about this place -- our dog Rigby goes frequently for both daycare and boarding. She's a two year old, 14 lb Jack Russell mix -- high energy and a little nervous with new people and dogs. When we first started taking her a year and a half ago, we were worried that she wouldn't like being away from home -- but she has a ball every time she goes! At this point, she starts wagging her tail on the car ride over. She always comes home in such a good mood -- all tuckered out and peaceful. She definitely loves playing in the indoor yard with the other dogs -- but a big part of Rigby's love for Four Paws comes from her connection with the staff. It's obvious what good care of the dogs they take -- Rigby is as comfortable with each of them as she is with us! She gets so excited when she walks in and sees Jessica or Dwayne. We could go on and on about what makes Four Paws such an amazing service -- reasonable pricing, the fact that the dogs aren't stuck in kennels during the day, the webcams that let us check in on Rigby when we're away, the constant supervision, the bathing service (which we've used dozens of times). But the fact that, on top of all this, we get the comfort of leaving our dog with people who go above and beyond to make her feel safe and happy -- nothing beats that! I would go so far as to say that no other purchase we make as dog owners -- not the brand of food we give Rigby, not the toys we buy her, not even the veterinary services we opt for (all of which matter a lot, of course!) is as indispensable to her longterm happiness as Four Paws. I cannot recommend this place enough, the only bad thing is we do not live in the area to use their services more often. I take my dog here regularly and have always had a great experience. Considering that the only time prior to this I let someone take care of my dog they lost him, I'm extremely gun-shy about letting anyone take care of my animal outside of myself. I literally spent months trying to find a good place to board my dog for an upcoming two-week vacation. Because of what happened before, safety is my number one concern. I kept looking at these places that were absurdly decorated, and had all these ridiculous amenities that were really for the humans. There's nothing wrong with it exactly, but I think it's a bit ridiculous to pay extra for my dog to be in a room with designer wallpaper and get read a bedtime story every night. This place is simple, sanitary, and safe. Exactly what I was looking for. The people there are so nice and really care about the dogs. And it really gave my husband and I piece of mind when we could turn on the ipad from our hotel in Iceland and get to watch him playing during the day! We also saw the folks there playing with all the dogs making sure to give each of them special love an attention. They take all the boarding dogs on 2 walks a day, but since our dog is such an escape artist we asked them not to as playing all day would be sufficient. When we got back one of the employees told us that during his designated walk time he would take our dog into an empty play area and play fetch with him so that he still got the 1-on-1 time all the other dogs get. This was totally of his own volition which we were super impressed by. The other big difference between Four Paws and the other places we noticed is that they don't charge separately for boarding and day care. I always thought it was a bit of a scam, but literally every other place I visited did this. There's a 10% discount for stays over 10 days and I can't remember the exact price, but for our 15-night trip it ended up being somewhere between 6 and $700. We've boarded him there for other shorter trips at least 3 times and always been very happy. The first time we brought him back for daycare after the boarding he was SO EXCITED about going there. He goes to daycare about once a week and loves it. I can tell the people there really care about the animals. read more

I consistently get good grooming done here. Every time they listen to what I want and deliver to my expectations. Today I emailed them a pic of the cut I wanted and as usual the groomer did a great job. My dogter always comes back clean, fluffy, and evenly cut. It's pretty easy to book appointments here too. I've even booked as late as the day before, a lot of other groomers I've called require you book up to a month in advance. Ain't nobody got time for that. The staff is friendly and the prices are average. My shih tzu is 8lbs and grooming is $45. This place does the best compared to all the other groomers I've tried in the area. I've tried bird house dog house and bone sweet bone. Neither do as good of a job. read more

They absolutely shower their clients with love and affection.My dog is always super stoked to get here and play with her buddies, and she's been coming since she was 3 mos or so old (she's 16 months now). But that is not all...The staff is super terrific to work with as well. Duane runs the front desk and there cannot be a more accommodating manager in the business. He has stayed late for us many times without a single complaint. It is easy too tell that he simply loves what he's doing. He's even helped us out with last minute boarding issues, taking our pup in literally with an hours notice. Left my Shiba Ceaser here for two weeks over this holiday break, and I can't say enough how impressed I am with this place! I watched the cams while I was gone. And when I picked him up, he was tired from all of the stimulation he got, but otherwise, he was in a great state. Didn't get sick or anything--sometimes it happens after pets stay in a kennel--but nope! Thank you to all of the staff that took care of him! I will most definitely use this place again! Brought our little Shih Tzu in for stinky ears. They did an amazing job! My favorite part is the A-la-Carte choices. Fantastic!!! We were in and out quickly. We recently left our large German Shepherd at Four Paws for the second time. Both times was exceptional. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The cost/fees were very reasonable. We usually board our dog at Pooch (now wag) and the rates were much higher than Four Paws. My kids love the fact that they can see our dog on streaming video while we are away on vacation. I love the fact that they don't try to nickle and dime me with extra services. Our dog gets to socialize with the other dogs all day until he is put away at night to sleep. Other boarders will only let the dogs out a few hours a day unless you pay extra. At other boarders we have actually paid more for dog boarding than our hotel room. The prices at Four Paws are very reasonable. The last boarding we also had our dog shampooed and groomed. They did a great job, and again, at a rate much lower than other groomers. I'll be returning here for all my dog's boarding and grooming needs. read more

We have been researching new daycares. We have never been more appalled. This was our first and only and last visit. If you have large dogs stay away. I have never seen 25+ large dogs in such a small area. Plus one of the staff members was using a broomstick to slam on the floor and wall to yell and intimidate the dogs to behave. And we heard dogs in the small and large dog areas squealing for some reason. I have taken my dog to many daycares with great experiences but I would never subject my dog to this place. read more

This place is just the best. Love the staff, love the facility, and my dog is SO happy there. The staff there is just beyond amazing. They clearly all love dogs and they have all bonded with my dog. I see it in his eyes when I drop him off, he is not only excited to play with other dogs, but he has a true bond with the wonderful and warm people that work there. We were visiting from out of town and needed an emergency place for our dog to stay for the day. Our dog was so happy when we picked her up!!! We decided to bring her back for the next few days we were in town. I cannot say enough about this place. The staff were so loving and kind . They greeted every pet by name that came to the center, and , I was even able to schedule a bath for my dog before I picked her up. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. read more

Four Paws is amazing. My dog PULLS me to the door when we get out of the car. He absolutely loves it there. Day care is super fun, and when he's been boarded he is always extremely well taken care of and loved. Every time I pick up my little guy (from day care, grooming or boarding) I get an anecdote or two from the staff about what fun they had with Floyd (my Terrier) that day. The staff is exceptional - they take the time to learn my name - in addition to of course my dog's name - any many even know my kids' names from dropping off/picking up our pup. The grooming is fantastic (my dog FREAKS if we go near Petco because of the awful grooming experiences he's had there before I discovered Four Paws), the staff are friendly and kind, and my dog is happy to arrive and happy (and exhausted!) when he comes home. First off I'm self employed on dont like to shade people's business unless absolute necessary. I purchased a voucher for my dog, my bad for assuming I could leave my dog for 6 days and they say it's for day care which is different from "boarding" and now I can't redeem it. I told the staff member several times and showed her that I had a voucher and they knew I was going to be boarding my dog. I even mentioned taking my dog down the street to Studio City Animal Hospital and I saw the deal and wanted to try them. The lady stated yea it's good he can socialize when I came 2 days prior to leaving him so he can be evaluated and now they're telling me they don't have a voucher for boarding. I paid $91 for 6 days and the total now is $358.50 (also a bath and cut, boarding $50 a day) which I think is totally unfair when they knew he was being boarded when I dropped him off. The whole purpose in the purchase for me was because I need somewhere to leave my dog when I go out of town. I could have went where I normally go to Studio City Animal Hospital where he's under the care of his physician for $23 a day. I didn't want a refund but I think it's crappy they could cut a deal or me pay the difference in cost and now I'm sitting in parking lot on the phone trying to get my money from Living Social. I think I may have been played because they knew I had a voucher and knew I was boarding my dog but when I come pick him up now I cant use the voucher is mighty suspicious. Other than that my dog is well, just a little tired. read more

I have been having our two miniature​ poodle mixes groomed there for years. They have always been very kind to me and my dogs. They also have stood by their work, offering to change the cut if I had a problem. Now that Lucy, the groomer is there, I have not gone back to have "repairs" made. I have not utilized the day care, but l have had issues with getting messages through to staff, return calls, etc. They are horrible at this. I have secured the services of the dog trainer, Nelson, who is wonderful. However, trying to communicate with him or arrange training appointments via the staff is nearly impossible. I'm handicapped or l would go there in person to get things in writing. read more

It was my first time boarding my 4yo Chihuahua, I think I was more anxious than my pet, but they took great care of her. They labeled all her belongings, and she was treated like she was theirs! Four Paws has always been my favorite place to get my dogs groomed. They are seniors and have their fair share of aches and pains so they are extra careful with them. We had to have our house tented for termites so we boarded them for a few days. We were happy that there is overnight staff available in case of any off hour emergencies. I LOVE! I have been bringing my girl to this place for almost a year now and we both love it :) It's clean, you can watch the pups on the cameras, and the staff (especially Dwayne) make my day whenever I see them. They're super accommodating and they know all the dogs that come and the prices aren't bad. It's $20 for a half day (5 hours) or $30 for a full day. Luna loves it here and I am going to be sad when we move away from Studio City because it's been by far the best. read more

I've been bringing my dog to this establishment for a years now. They recently got a new groomer. I would describe her grooming as mediocre at best. But that's not the problem. The other day I picked up my miniature poodle. They handed her to me as they normally do. We drove immediately over to the park. I set her down & started walking. I noticed immediately she was limping & walking very slowly. We cut the walk off after about 2 minutes. The hours rolled by & her limp became more and more pronounced. I felt her foot everywhere & nothing made her whimper. It was impossible for me to see where was the pain coming from. Night time rolled around & I offered her chicken. She wouldn't even get out of her bed to get the chicken. She tried but she literally acted like she couldn't stand. My heart sank in my chest & I was ready to grab her and take her to the emergency vet. Then I thought before I do that let me carry her upstairs & see what her attitude is about eating chicken. I set her down gently on all four feet. She voraciously ate her chicken. Once I saw how she ate the chicken, I knew she was normal in that regard. I gave her some anti-inflammatory. I decided I would wait and see by morning exactly how things progressed. When I woke up in the morning she was significantly better. I called up Four Paws. I asked them if they have their grooming facility on video surveillance. They told me they did.I said I would like to see the footage. They said they would take a look at it and let me know if they found anything. They said would call me back following day. 2 days later no call. I walked into their place & said please show me the footage. They said its against their policy.They said to me you can speak with the groomer. I told them no interest in that. Only the video will show exactly what happened. I showed him the video of my dog not being able to get out of bed & 2nd video of my dog limping horribly. He could clearly see I wasn't making this up. He said he would call the owner to ask if he would make an exception. The owner flat out said it's against our policy to show any video footage of anything. I can tell you with 100% certainty if I owned a business & somebody suspected something happened I would not be able to whip that video out fast enough to clear my reputation. What in the world kind of idiotic policy do they have? ...Today I am editing my review.The email account tied to yelp is one I check infrequently. I discovered a message that had been sitting in there for a week. It was a woman who saw my yelp review. She sent me a direct message. I will remove her phone number...Hello! I read your review about what happened to your dog at the four paws grooming place. I took my dog 2 days ago & I had to take her to the vet immediately after. The vet told me she was strangled & she had bruises all over her body. My family & I are pursuing legal action, & would like to speak with you regarding your experience. Thank you! My number is ......... that is the end of her message. Something has gone horribly awry at four paws. After my incident I went online to read reviews & I see there are a number of horrible reviews. Aside from the lack of care towards the dogs, many of them talk about the attitude of the owner. I'm still blown away by the fact they wouldn't let me see the surveillance camera footage. There's just no reason somebody would not want to set the record straight if they were confident nothing had happened under their watch. Today I called the woman that sent me the message. She said when she went in to four paws to show them photos and present her vet bill she made reference to my review. Four paws told her my situation was different & that my dog had slept funny on her foot. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Did they watch 3 hours of footage and ascertain my dog slept funny? After I posted my review for 10 days my dog was super delicate. If I would pick her up sometimes she would yelp. I wasn't picking her up differently than I've ever picked her up for the past 5 years. Other times, I would lay her on her back in my arms & gently bend her neck towards me to give her a kiss. Exactly the same way I've been doing it for years. But after the incident at four paws if I even slightly moved her neck she would yelp. Something very bad happened under their watch. In my opinion , there are enough negative things about the care of animals and the horrible attitude of the owner . All Yelp reviews have been forewarned now . It's not like we're living in some rural community where you couldn't find a great groomer elsewhere. I have taken my dog to a new place and playing $29 and more but I don't care. The Groomer I go to now works in an open area and if I wanted to sit there & watch her I could. Obviously that's not something I would want to do but I like the fact she works with full transparency. She has nothing to hide and her Yelp reviews were off the charts fantastic. read more

From day one staff here was super welcoming and friendly and made me and my large German Shepherd Dogs feel like part of the family. Within one month, my puppy who is full of energy was doing down-stays under heavy distraction and is now sooo much better at home. I loved getting to check on my dogs and watch them romping with their doggy friends via the online camera. Special shout-outs to Dwayne and Kate for being FANTASTIC to schmooze and work with. I look forward to bringing my dogs to the new West LA location and to knowing they are in good hands. Puppycam. Awesome. I get to check on my dog throughout the day while he plays away - and that he does! I have a super high energy friendly dog and he loves going here. Being able to check in on him during the day on the camera is fantastic and good piece of mind. My dog is usually having a great time playing with other dogs but the people who work here are great and they sometimes put him in the smaller area for large dogs so he can chill out for some time and not burn himself out too much - and give his friends a rest. The staff is really good about going in and cleaning up quickly and they are always very nice and good with all the dogs. the place is wonderful in how it evaluates the dogs as all the ones have wonderful, playful temperments which makes its a great environment for a dog to get some exercise and socialize with other dogs during the day. read more

We had been taking our Shitzu/ Maltese mix here for a couple years and things were great. Lola came back groomed well and was always a happy camper. Recently there must have been a change. We took her in to get a complete grooming including getting her anal glands expressed. She came back in so much pain and wouldn't sit in her bottom for 4 days. She was crying and even refused to poop for 3 days. I gave her a bath because I had lost trust in the competency of Four Paws and figured until I found someone I trusted I didn't want to traumatized her anymore. I noticed a scar on her butt. They manhandled her to the point of tearing her. That is not ok!! Needles to say we haven't been back there again. The both of us were so scarred from this experience that its been 3 months since I've taken her to a groomer. I'm taking her to a new one on Monday and hope that it will again be a positive experience. read more
