    They treat Pugsly so good
    Jeff N.

So I obviously like this place with about 60 Yelp check-ins, but I felt it was time to write another review because some things have changed. My old vet is gone and there is a new vet Dr. Hoffman who saw me previously and I really liked her. I got to see her again today with Pugsly and once again I got fantastic service and care for my sick fur baby. First of all, I totally enjoy coming to this veterinary office because everyone seems to totally care. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by the front desk staff who always say hello. Check-in is always fast and my appointments are always very timely. The few times there was a serious emergency that came in I did not mind waiting. When your pet is taken back to the exam room their staff are always so nice and supportive. Pugsly is a bit nervous about getting his nails done but they always try to make him feel safe. They also give him peanut butter which he loves so that helps to keep his focus on other things. I've never had a single problem with scheduling an appointment and they don't mind making appointments many months ahead if needed for regularly scheduled visits. When I have needed to take Pugsly in they try their best to get him in or have me wait. Dr. Hoffman is the new vet at Four Paws and she's great! I really enjoyed interacting with her the last two times I was here. She really is very thorough. She recommended what tests we should take and what would be the followup actions if the tests were positive. She also gave me options if I did not want to do the testing, but I agreed with her decisions since they made sense and we did not know what exactly the problem was. They ended up doing a blood test, gave my little pug an injection as well and some medicine to take home with us. It looks like Pugsly had a bad reaction to an injection and it lasted a week but we will know for sure tomorrow after the blood test. I liked that Dr. Hoffman explained everything that she was doing and why. It was very informative. I appreciate her helping me to understand exactly what's going on. It meshes a helpless owner feel more secure. Thank you Four Paws for consistently providing the community with excellent service. I drive out of my way to bring my pug here and it is totally worth it! If you're looking for an excellent veterinary office you need to give this place a try! Pugsly and I thank you!

My cat has asthma ( my cat will go on coughing fits and seems uncomfortable in the early morning and at night time- came in because we noticed it had gotten a bit worse after 2 months since the first appointment) and a heart murmur, and we were told that steroids wouldn't be helpful because it would intensify the heart murmur. (This was the first appointment). I came in telling her the holistic approach we went for since the last appointment we went to, and I tried telling her what we've been giving to try and help him and I went for my phone to look up the name of the medicine and immediately- she says me "I will look it up myself" (I don't think she ever did ) didn't give it a second thought of what I had to say. The vet was extremely dismissive after I told her I did not want to have an Echo- cardiogram of his heart or the x-ray to see his lungs. After I told her the research I had done and knew what I wanted (to try an inhaler) before spending over $800 on labs to potentially just give him an inhaler in the end. I wanted to try this first . She told me that she will be the one to tell me what to do. Even the nurse assistant wasn't very nice! They could've both asked me to pick my cat up to put him on the exam table but instead decided to grab him while he was under a chair not wanting to be picked up by them. The issue is... I've been coming to urban animal for years!! My sweet dog Winnie had to be put down at urban animal after suffering from cancer, and we got our treatment for her here! We also come here for our other cat. Never had a bad experience until now. Also tell me why there are only dog treats available in a cat only vet... I asked if they had any treats for cats and said they ran out‍ All in all, I do suggest coming here because it is convenient to just be able to walk in. Besides, the fact you have to wait a long time but I always come right as they open. Do what you well with this review, but I just felt like when I had to say just didn't matter. And the vet let her own personal feelings about what I wanted to do with MY CAT versus her At the end of the day, she needs to keep her feelings to herself and not expressing a way that made me feel unwanted or uncomfortable at the end of the day.

He was miserable, and honestly, I was freaking out a bit--nothing worse than seeing your pup uncomfortable and not knowing how to help. From the moment we walked in, the staff were all kind, quick, and super understanding. A special shout-out to Dr. Erica Anderson. She was incredible. Not only did she explain everything thoroughly without up-selling (which I really appreciated), but she also took the time to make sure my little guy felt safe and calm during the whole visit. Dr. Anderson quickly diagnosed the issue, gave us a treatment plan that actually worked, and followed up to make sure everything was healing as expected. My corgi is back to his sassy, zoomie-loving self, and I couldn't be more grateful. Seattle has no shortage of vet clinics, but Jet City definitely stands out. I started visiting this vet because they offered folks who work at Amazon a discount. Do not fall for that trap. I had a dog who had seizures. I needed to pick up levitiracetum and apoquel for her regularly. (1) this vet has an online clinic they probably have a deal with, for many drugs it's excruciatingly overpriced. Meaning I pay 1/5th of the price of the seizure medication at my local pharmacy. When I told this vet to call in my dogs rx they said by law they could not. This is false. You as a client are allowed to pick up your rx anywhere you want to. I actually reported this and a few weeks later I was called back by LUV indicating they could all of sudden call in my dogs rx. While I lost trust in them, I appreciated that they pivoted and admitted it. But the pain continues. My dog needs her bordatella updated. She had surgery about 6 months ago from the same vet, And her wellness is only a week past one year , we visit the vet regularly. The annual wellness law is to ensure the vet has seen the dog in the last year to ensure they are prescribing medications on an animal they've seen.....LUV examined my dog pre-surgery but they say none of the visits count to establish vet-client relationship and won't do the bordatella without an annual wellness exam. We were there 6 months ago for her pre surgery work. We are there regularly. Last year when I updated my dogs vaccinations I paid more than $700 they added on a bunch of stuff we didn't need. They code things their way and read the law their way to add as many things to your tab as possible.

Today I had to say goodbye to my dog. Her name was Daisy…read more Like everyone, I very much love my pets. But I think our story is a bit different. When I was 19 years old, my future wife and I started our pet family. We started with 3 cats (O'Reilly, Hairy, and Buddy) all within about a year or two. After college we decided one morning to get a dog. We went to some random house on the west side of Cleveland that was advertising a litter of puppies and we found Daisy. We were ill prepared for what we were about to go through. She proved to be a rambunctious, loud, and thoroughly trouble-making puppy. We'd regret her lack of formal training for years to come. Before leaving Cleveland for Seattle we took on one more cat, Cici. The car ride across the country would prove to be the first of three for our team of seven. Daisy, despite being a relentless trouble maker, was our girl. She loved the car rides, swimming in rivers and oceans, traveling with her family, and above all else...eating....everything. She had personality. She would love you, lie to you, yell at you, get mad at you, thank you, and protect you. She was not typical. As my team got older, I came to realize that I'd made a huge mistake by getting everyone all at once. It meant I would likely lose them all in a short period of time. I was unfortunately right. A few months ago, we experienced our first loss with O'Reilly. She was arguably the meanest cat on the planet but we loved her deeply regardless. Saying good-bye was beyond terrible as my instinct is to fight relentlessly to keep this team together at any cost. You just can't stop it sometimes and Barry & Jenya Katz have helped us come to terms with this reality of life. I am very grateful to them. They told me when we'd done as much as we could and they were right. When I woke up this morning, I knew Daisy was spent. My once energetic and rambunctious pup was now ready to sleep. Jenya came over to my apartment with her wonderful tech Jessica and helped me say good-bye. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but they have become like family to me and shared my grief. They know my team by name and they care as I do that they each feel love and comfort to the last minute. I know this is a bit heavy for Yelp but pet owners who truly care will appreciate this story. These people have helped us keep this team together more times than I can count. The clinic staff and veterinarians have not let me down. They haven't let my team down. You should trust them with your team too.

I'm an established patient, they know me and my partner (and my cat!). Unfortunately, asking for an update on labwork yesterday culminated in an absolutely bizarre phone conversation with one of the receptionists that ended with "Look, we have lots of other patients. We can transfer your records to another vet if you're unhappy." And then hung up. That is, without a doubt, an insane thing to be ok saying to a client. I just wanted to know whether I needed to postpone my upcoming appt to wait for the labs! I no longer feel like there will be a good standard of care so I'm taking them up on the "find a new vet" threat. My 17 year-old cat gets to re-establish care elsewhere. This absolute catastrophe could've been avoided with the sentences: "Sorry about that, you should've heard back today but we are now expecting it early tomorrow. I wouldn't reschedule your appointment." Instead I got "I don't know what's happening with your pet. Do you want to reschedule the appointment or not?" Maybe things will work out for you here, for me they did for a while, but also maybe they'll rudely show you the door when you ask for an update on your pet. I won't risk that level of volatility in my pet's health care. I don't think you should either.

We kept an eye on them for a a few days hoping that after some water and a little time to rest, the bird would find it's way to the sky again, but unfortunately, this was not the case. After reaching out the Bird Clinic of Seattle, it was discovered that this specific type of bird couldn't be treated by them and they suggested reaching out to a local vet for euthanization. Easy, right? This is Seattle - there's TONS of veterinaries here... After calling no less than half a dozen vets within a 10 mile radius of our home who refused to help (including the vet we USED to take our cats to who continually fat shamed them), we called Atlantic who graciously said they could assist AND offered same day service. We put the bird in a shoebox and brought it over. I asked the front desk person what form of payment they preferred and the response was, "Nah. There's no need to pay us for this kind of service. Thank you for doing the right thing and bringing this poor bird in." Fast forward, my big guy cat woke me up a few months ago growling very early in the morning. It was obvious he was in a lot of pain, but our regular vet clinic didn't open until 9am vs. Atlantic who's phone lines open at 7am. I called them and immediately got an appointment for him to be seen later that afternoon. Frankly, the quality of care and genuine kindness that Dr. Monahan and her staff continually show us is incomparable to that of our last vet. I have bumped into vet techs at Atlantic whom I've never met, but express so much joy when my big guy cat shows up for follow ups. Everyone from the doctors to nurses to the front desk folks are always thorough and wonderful and we've never had an issue getting an appointment on the same day. We decided to move our cats here for primary care permanently. If you're looking for a vet that's happy to answer questions, not fat shame your pets, come up with health solutions and are generally an outstanding group of people who deeply care for animals and love what they do, this is the place.

Another instance is when I brought her in for some vaccinations and waited with her in the lobby for over 45 minutes. No one said anything to me and I had to ask multiple times to see what was going on because I shouldn't have had to wait that long. It was also frustrating because I moved my appointment from 4pm to 2:30pm and then literally waited until 3:30 to be seen anyway. Also, if you're in a room, they'll say they'll be back and then leave you in there for like 20-30 minutes without an update and you'll have to go into the hall and flag someone down to remind them that you're still there. They also let owners go into the surgery room when they drop off their pet while people are literally operating on an animal a few feet away...seems unsanitary to me. Luckily I'm moving so I won't have to come back but if I wasn't, I would have really considered finding a new veterinarian. Only good thing about this place is the price.

We were never told that the booster would be charged separately along with the nurse visit. Why would the full cost of the vaccine and booster not be disclosed to us at the initial visit? Why would we be charged again for a booster that is required for the vaccine, which we already paid for, to actually work? Sadly, I think this institution has lost sight of their original purpose which was to serve the community and operate as a family-owned business rather than a greedy corporation. I'm not sure what has changed so drastically here in the past few years to cause such a noticeable decline but this is not the same clinic as it once was. After nearly a decade of partnership, I will not be bringing my dogs back here. For any current patients of this clinic, I would strongly advise that you ensure how much you're being billed BEFORE each visit so you are not overcharged for standard services.
