We recently moved into our home and encountered a sewer drain clog within weeks which was especially stressful. We called out a plumbing company recommended to us who said we had root intrusion and advised breaking into our bedroom floor or tunneling under the house and repairing the pipe. This advice was based on their efforts to snake through a clean out which did not alleviate the clog. The thought of breaking into our flooring, repairing the pipe, trying to find replacement flooring and pay many thousands for the repair was very distressing. We contacted Four Star Plumbing for a second opinion. First, Kelli, the company's co-owner, was firm, empathetic and extremely knowledgeable. Kelli provided guidance, more information than any layperson should know about plumbing, and reassurance. She explained the possible options and guided us as we tried to figure out what to do. She and Robert (her husband and co-owner) closely examined the issue, pictures of home and information we provided. Along with their technicians, Taylor and Angel, they created a plan and executed the plan which ultimately cleared the clog without digging up our flooring. VERY Professional! We had clogged pipes in our backyard and thought for sure the quote would be very high. They came out, put a camera through the drains and could see that there were a lot of tree vines that were clogging the drains. We coordinated some things with our Gardner and Four Star Plumbing. Everything was fixed in a very timely manner and the cost was very very fair. Less than what we expected. They were courteous, professional and we would use them again. They were also on time as they stated they would be. They are family owned so that was also a plus to us. I found out after we had the work done that they've been in business for well over 20 years. I am very grateful to Four Star Plumbing for saving the day!! Technician Angel literally became my Angel!! I had a major crawl space leak and after having two plumbers schedule and then cancel on me, I noticed the neighbor had a plumber working in their garage, so I stopped by to see if he was available after that job. He said he was swamped with the job but gave me the company card & said there might be a technician available if I called. I called and Kelly was very friendly and pleasant to work with. She was exceptionally communicative and was very clear about the upfront charges for an assessment and what I could expect from their visit, she also assured me the company was very familiar with the neighborhood and problems that come with these older homes. I agreed to the price I would be charged for inspection and she said a technician would be on their way from another job. Keep in mind, it was 4:30pm on a weekday and this was INSTANT service. I don't even think I waited 20 minutes after the phone call. Angel and an additional technician arrived and very quickly assessed the problem. I agreed to the charges and got the leak fixed all within a very short amount of time. Angel was my lifesaver and even though he was thigh deep in a muddy water crawl space, he still had a wonderful demeanor without any trepidation to the muddy mess he was working in. They explained to me they did not offer water pumping out services (which I figured was a long shot), so I'm having a water remediation company come out to pump. Our home had a gas leak after our fumigation. Four star plumbing came highly recommended to me from a trusted handyman. I called on a weekday evening and my call was returned within 30 minutes. The workers, Manny and his crew, showed up the next day as promised and got right to work. They found the problems and I knew that I was in good hands. Their plumbers were polite and respectful, totally competent and honest. They were not the cheapest plumbers that's for sure, but they were well worth the money. Four star repaired a gas line leak under my stone patio slab. They inspected and gave a detailed quote for the repairs. The customer service was excellent from the front office to the plumbers who did the repair. I have extensive stone work and they completed the work with the minimal amount of stones removed. They saw cut around existing stones and jack hammered out the slab, replaced the line with the hole, pressure tested and cleaned up after themselves. A great team performance. Their customer service woman taking service calls insulted me verbally, she was aggressive and unpleasant. I cancelled services ahead of time and she threatened me to be charged my credit card. If she is the owner, shame on her. If she's an employee and she's the first impression of the company to the customers she should be fired. There are hundreds of plumbing companies out there that treat customers with courtesy because we pay for their services. She threatened me -on a recorded call, by the way- that 'I will never use their company again' 'that she will charge my credit card for no show (I cancelled service call ahead of time), and she went on an on. Unbelievable lack of ethics. Believe me, I won't ever dare on calling 4 Star Plumbing's. There are hundreds of companies out there that will treat clients better than the pitbull woman. Four Star Plumbing Orange County just ripped me off for $165 dollars. They charged me for a service call that produced nothing of real value. Later, they sent me a bid e-mail that got the facts of our situation completely wrong even though they had sent out their own plumber, Angel, to assess our situation. I'm going to ask the property management lady who recommended Four Star Plumbing Orange County to us to see if she can help us get our money back. After we sent Kelli Frank photos of our issues and described our problems in a detailed e-mail she charged us $165.00 for the privilege of waiting around for two hours and then watching her plumber, Angel, inspect our kitchen and write out his notes for a bid. What did I get for the $165.00? Angel looked under our sink and behind our refrigerator. He advised us to save money by buying our own disposer and faucet. He advised us to use another company to fix the angle stops. My wife and I watched him as he did some paperwork. He said that he could not do any work at all that day. As I remember it, he said he would not install the disposer unless the water was hooked up to test it. He would not have the water running because he would not use the plastic angle stops used by our PEX installers. He said that we needed to get another company to come in and replace the angle stops and then he would go ahead and do the disposer. Angel could have done at least a little work for us for $165.00. For example, he could have taken out the old disposer. Even worse, when I finally got a bid back from his company it was as if Angel had never even visited our property. The bid made it sound as if the existing angle stops were embedded in dry wall (an extra charge to fix) and suggested we may need to install a refrigerator icemaker outlet box, this is that box between the wall studs that keeps the water valves out of the way yet accessible. This was bizarre. Angel had inspected behind our refrigerator and clearly saw we already had a refrigerator icemaker outlet box. Even worse, the bid said that they would charge us $185.00 per hour and that the hours they spent on the project would go from any where from 4 to 8 hours, or $740.00 to $1,480.00. I'm not joking. I have all this in their dated e-mail. The wildly variable bid was due to the supposedly unknowable expenses surrounding the question of whether or not they would need to remove drywall or, I suppose, install a refrigerator icemaker outlet box, and tear out some drywall back there too. I called Kelli up the next day to see if we could get a more detailed, precise bid. Once I'm on the phone she explains to me that the e-mail containing their most recent, widely ranging bid, was created with the knowledge of Angel, another lady and Kelli. I pointed out, innocently enough, that their email bid didn't really show any signs of the benefits I imagined we would be receiving after paying Angel $165.00 to inspect our kitchen. After all, there were no dry wall issues at all, and we already had a clearly visible recessed ice machine water supply box. At this point, Kelli reacted with surprising anger and didn't seem to even want me to have an opportunity to talk back. She seemed especially concerned that I was suggesting that she did not know her own internal procedures or business. Kelli Frank also suggested my comments where somehow due to the fact that she was a female. (Trust me, if she recorded this conversation, then this is all on their audio tapes.) I can see that from her perspective she wants to make sure she makes $165.00 every single time one of her plumbers goes out into the field. From my perspective, however, I think that is a huge rip-off. Frankly, if I thought there was a chance a guy would come out and charge me $165.00 and not even remove the old disposer, I would have said to forget it. I only paid Angel the $165.00 in the first place because I thought - erroneously - that this bill would be deducted from future work he performed for us. It is interesting to me that at least another person writing here - Jon C. - had a somewhat similar experience. I feel cheated. I can't believe that they charged me $165.00 for an inspection and then produced a bid that was so negligent and sloppy that it failed to reveal that I already owned a refrigerator icemaker outlet box. Meanwhile, it would have been nice for Angel to let me know that it was probably a bad idea to work with him and his company. After all, if they can't get three people together to create an accurate bid, one which reflects the facts of the situation, then what else is going wrong at their second generation, family-run plumbing business? P.S. I responded to one of the follow-up e-mails Four Star Plumbing Orange County sent me and gave them an opportunity to correct any inaccuracies might have appeared in my review. They have not reported to me anything that they would like to see changed or corrected as of June 12, 2018. read more

Rob and his crew showed up on time as promised. We received updates and reminders about our appointment. The crew was very professional, knew what they were doing and installed our tankless water heater. We have had it for 6 months now and everything works great. Capable, but overpriced. My rental had a gas leak. Two plumbers went out and spent a good part of the day applying pressure to the gas line and following the line from valve to valve until the line held pressure. They found the main leak after following the line into a garage.Then they replaced some valves and fittings, and left. The actual repairs went fast compared to all the time spent looking for the leak. My bill was $1545.00 I searched online for how to find a gas leak. I read some articles and watched some youtube videos demonstrating plumbers and home owners following gas lines, applying pressure, and repairing valves. None of the articles or videos recommended that two plumbers need to work together. When I asked the office why I had two plumbers most of the day, I was told that they could find the leak faster with two. This must be true, but I doubt that one plumber would have taken twice the time. My criticism is this: Four Star Plumbing did not take care to reduce my bill by sending one master plumber out rather than two. read more

Four Star Plumbing should actually be called Five Star Plumbing. This is by far the best plumbing company we have ever used. First off, FSP was responded quickly our urgent call for service. Two polite and knowledgeable technicians responded to our call and within minutes they were able to diagnose our issue. FSP provided us with a quote for service repairs and were able to complete the work while my family and I were on our previously planned vacation. On top of excellent and responsive customer service, transparency in their quotes and completing the job on time and as promised, this company went above and beyond to assist in working with our insurance company to help cover the damage and repairs costs. We had a clogged sink and toilet upstairs, I called Four Star and they were able to send someone out the same day. Two technicians arrived within the window provided, and we explained what was happening. Taylor explained step by step what could be causing the clog, and what they may need to do to fix it, and what each possibility would cost. He made sure that we were okay to proceed before starting anything, the detailed explanations were great. They were able to clear the clog and everything works great. I was much happier with the honesty rather than promising to come the next day just to secure the business, and the normal delay/delay/delay. On the day they were supposed to arrive, they called me in the morning to ask if they could push back my appt. time by a couple of hours. Again, was much happier they gave me plenty of notice and were so nice & pleasant, I was fine with the new time. They completed the job quickly and didn't drag it out to bill me for more hours. Called here and Kelly was so nice and helpful on the phone and got someone out to our property right away. Taylor, the technician who came out, was absolutely fantastic. He ended up spending about 5 hours onsite because of a number of issues with our property but communicated with me throughout the process and kept me up to date on what was going on. The owner, Rob, even stopped by to check-in and he was just as friendly and explained what they were seeing and his recommendations also. After a lot of work Taylor was able to get the sewer line clear and our tenants have a working toilet again! Will absolutely be using Four Star again in the future. read more

4 Star Plumbing should be renamed 5 star Plumbing! Recently, we had a back up in our master bathroom. Toilets were getting clogged, smelled terrible and our shower wasn't draining. I called Rob at 4 Star Plumbing and was impressed at our quickly they were able to resolve the problem (seeing how it wasn't an emergency). Not only were they quick and efficient, but they were professional and courteous. That's something lost with many businesses these days. Our long plumbing upgrade is now completed. 4 Star Plumbing performed every task with professionalism. It appears from the 4 Star website we had every technician in our home at one time or another. I even visited the office in San Juan and met the owner Robert. We had a Halo water system installed & the result is tremendous. Everyone in the OC knows the problems with hard water and all the chemicals added by the local water districts. We love the water we now have throughout our entire home. We had a very unpleasant surprise show its ugly head at the point we thought we were finished. We had beautiful dark hardwood floors installed in the entire home. Low and behold we found tree roots in the toilet in our downstairs powder room. One of the technicians, Corey, mentioned he thought we might get some support from our HOA on the fix. Corey was right. Talk about relief from a major additional expense! We really were happy to have this knowledge supplied by 4 Star Plumbing. Yes we had to destroy our entire powder room, but better find out now than later. The hardwoods were replaced, installed a new upgraded vanity & faucets. Beautiful! We were experiencing random water pooling and leaking near a corner of our garage floor ( under a sink, near a drain). First trip over the tech could not zero in on the issue. Immediately after, Rob the owner came by and was able locate the issue. It was related to past remodel work by a bad contractor. Talk about a high level of knowledge! Rob found the leak was actually coming from an upstairs showers which was incorrectly tied into this drain. Well, the dispatch was extremely helpful, got my information down, and put me in touch with the technician right away. Unfortunately, the technician seemed very disoriented, didn't seem to know why I had been connected to his line, and the first thing he brought up was how much money I'd have to pay because of the 24 hour service ($525) just for him to come out...and of course no inquiry about what exactly the issue was, just $$$. I called another company which sent a technician out to do a diagnostic which was done thoroughly but quickly, fixed the problem by replacing the part, AND cost hundreds less. read more

Beware of over charging you. Called out to fix a leak under sink and fix a toilet. I was told $165 trip and then $165 per hour labor afterwards. I was ok with all that. They get here and fix the sink quickly (Thats ok) then work on toilet. They charged me $225 flat fee to remove and replace toilet, $65 to snake it to find nothing. Put toilet back on and charge for $455 for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Toilet still doesn't flush properly and its brand new. Great customer service four star. Why would I ever call you out again. By the way. I was repeat customer from just 2 months ago. -Todd Frank, your comments are not accurate and I had no discussion with you. Your customer service rep listened to the recorded conversation and stated I was told $165 an hour after the first hour. I was informed of snake amount while they wrote up the final bill. The $225 toilet reinstall I was told about while standing in my kitchen only after I had contracted the $165 trip fee and felt I had to accept it at that point or have to schedule with another company and be charged additional fees again. This is not my primary residence so it would be a bit of a hassle to come down again to meet another plumber. The toilet is fine and the identical toilet in the master flushes fantastic. Also, I used you through a home warranty to snake a master line and use a camera. I was billed for camera use, and the stoppage was not resolved with that visit either. My same contractors actually were able to unclog that two weeks ago themselves. read more
