Was very unimpressed with everything we ate. I didn't understand why there was a large amount of people coming in for dinner. I ordered the Veal Marsala over rice. It tasted like rice a roni which was microwaved a little long and had tough rice grains. The veal itself were little cuts with nothing really impressive. The service was very good. My French onion soup had a kidney bean and bay leaf. In mentioning it to waiter, just to let chef know to be careful, he had no comprehension of what I meant. The chicken was decent but lukewarm. The soup wasn't hot enough. No bread or vegetables. It was explained soup or salad which I understand but didn't restaurants put some basic cooked vegetables on the plate? My husband had chicken parmesan with linguine. There were uncooked or totally dried noodles on the outside of the plate. It was served lukewarm. The desserts..we took them home so didn't see them until later in the evening. Atmosphere is very nice! Otherwise too pricey even for Manasquan-Wall. 12$ for a hamburger and it only comes with chips? What. Maybe in England where chips mean French fries. What person anywhere wants potato chips with their 12$ hamburger? I got the chicken francese which was pretty good until about 10 mins after getting home, let's just say it didn't agree with me, and continued to not agree with me into the night. Used to go here for lunch but haven't been in a while. Met a friend for dinner and enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Our table was along the bar and I felt a little close to the people sitting at the bar behind me, might ask for a different location next time. Tuesday has a prime rib special and it was very good. Come with soup or salad, I had the salad- it was ok, out of a bag type salad mix. I also had the mashed potatoes- really good. Heard good things about this place so we came in a Saturday afternoon around 2:45 for a late lunch. The place itself is cozy and clean. Love the atmosphere. We sat near the fireplace which was a nice surprise as it was pretty cold outside. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered the combo, ribs and garlic shrimp - excellent! The shrimp were plump and the garlic butter sauce was really tasty. The ribs literally fell off the bone. My husband and father ordered the French onion soup - delicious. My husband also got the peppercorn burger which was cooked perfectly and was gigantic! He couldn't finish it and had to bring half home. I wasn't sure about this place because I saw a few bad reviews but I was absolutely pleasantly surprised and will definitely be coming back. My wife and I didn't feel like cooking at home today so we searched online reading menu after menu for a restaurants within a reasonable distance of our house to eat. We ended up choosing "Four Winds". What a great choice. For starters she ordered the French onion soup and I had a half a dozen of raw oysters. Like other couples we share our meals. The French onion soup was to die for. Piping hot. Loads of melted cheese with such a light tasty broth not a drop was left in the crock. The oyster were so fresh it was like they threw them out of the water and onto my plate. So far. So good. Now the meal. The wife only wanted Clams Casino. I on the other hand ordered the Soft crabs (2) a la francaise along with broccoli and a tossed salad with blue cheese dressing. Don't 4get we share. The clams Casino were like nothing we've ever tasted. (sorry Baltimoreans) Whole small clams coverd with sauteed onions, peppers and load of crispy bacon pieces. The soft crabs were huge, full and perfectly cooked soaked in that lemony, white wine butter sauce. Broccoli is just broccoli until ya dump it into the same sauce those soft crabs came it. Man, u would think we were 2 starvin people they way we ate this food up. To boot came the warm rolls with softened butter to further enhance our meal and helped in sopping up the juice from both the clams & crabs. Now the salad. Cold & crispy just the way it should be with real blue cheese dressing not that cheap watery stuff. All i can say this made up for every lousy meal we've had eating away from home this year. Oh, lets not 4get the service. It was terrific. We sat at the bar out of preference. The staff waited on us as if we were the only ones there and the place both tables and stools were full for its was near 5pm. What a great experience. Thanx Four Winds. Extremely noisy and crowded. The service was not good at all. I understand they may have been a bit understaffed, but our waitress could have been a lot better. It took 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged at our table. The waitress was not friendly and borderline rude. We had to ask for bread and refills of water. She brought a small pitcher which filled two of the four glasses and her attitude was not what you would expect. The final straw was when she brought the bill. There were four of us, yet we were charged for five entrees. When I questioned her, she once again displayed a negative attitude. She had trouble understanding there was an extra entree charged to us. To make matters worse, there was a charge listed as $2.50 crock (soup) and the charge was $3.50. When we questioned her, she said the price went up. If I hadn't checked the bill, we would have been charged an extra $37.00. She reluctantly took off the extra entree and $1.00 for the soup, however, she still couldn't understand what the problem was. We will not go back to this restaurant. I stopped in the Four Winds after tennis with 5 players to get some victuals. Now mind you, I have not been here in a decade. This place looked the same, save the TV'S and the cash computers. Always a nice watering hole in Southern Monmouth County, and business as usual, where many of the locals come in to curb their hunger and thirst. Jill, our barkeep, has been here for 28 years. CYI that? Very competent and cordial. Happy Hour was in progress so I asked for a beer menu, None. No innovation in the beer department. I could see Jill was pouring a lot of martinis. But for me it's too early to be drinking those concoctions. I ordered a dozen clams in drawn butter $6. Half price according to Jill. Very small. Too small to make the HH price acceptable. I didn't really ask the others how they liked/disliked their orders. I did notice that their rolls were not eaten. This local restaurant has consistently good food and generous portions. Nice menu selection with daily specials. Please be aware however, that if you are sitting at the bar, you are likely to have FOX News on the television screens facing patrons. Sports coverage usually airs on some of the televisions, but FOX News has always been on many of the televisions when I've been at this restaurant. So, beware... if having FOX coverage in your face while you are hoping to have a good time... get a table in the main dining area or go somewhere else. read more

My boyfriend and I went to dinner with friends of ours a few weeks ago. My boyfriend ordered a Bud light and when he took a sip, he got a mouthful of broken glass. He pulled out slivers of broken bottle glass, was bleeding from the lips, mouth, tongue and fingers. He had to go outside and spit out the rest of the glass. No one came to help, asked anything. I had seek out a manager who I had to beg for a few band aids. Never asked if he needed medical attention. It wasn't until I raised my voice did the female manager say she would Budweiser and get back to us!! How ridiculous! Wait it gets better... they bring his a Draft Coors light and he takes a sip and the glass has a HUGE crack in it! I saw it just in time before he got cut AGAIN!! We exchanged phone numbers.... For medical bill purposes and our big compensation was they took his dinner and beers off the bill and gave the table a free dessert. We went to four winds restaurant to have lunch it came recommended from a friend! We started off our lunch with their calamari with a wasabi sauce, hands-down the worst calamari I've ever had in my life. It was like eating rubber bands it wasn't crispy the breading was soggy we each had one piece and refused to eat anymore. Our waiter was attentive on one hand but looked at the calamari and didn't say a word didn't ask if everything was OK just remove the plate that was full. We had the jerk mahi-mahi as our entrées it was a special of the day. It was served with rice pilaf and the rice pilaf was sour spoiled horrible! The fish had the bloodline still intact and they were tail pieces the cheapest cut of fish there is again substandard and I can't understand how it could ever be served especially the rice which made us sick to our stomach and both of us had diarrhea! The only saving grace was that the bartender was outstanding and really understood how to make a mixed drink. I had a lemon drop martini and my fiancé had a cosmopolitan both were outstanding! We even went to the bar after our shitty meal and complemented the bartender. I would not recommend this place to anyone there's a lack of caring, attention To detail and just horrible food! Went there on Saturday night, about a 30 minute wait. We waited at the bar had to wait almost 15 minutes to order a drink. Finally got a table for 2 right by the kitchen entrance. Waited another 15 minutes for server to come over. Ordered the cheeseburger and the special. Special came out but no cheeseburger. Waitress came over to see if everything was OK, but still no cheeseburger. Finally arrived, completely over cooked. Enjoyed the food but giving a 4 star for food and 2 star for pace of meal and 1 star for wrong prices on menu by almost 20%. While the waiter and bussers were very nice , the food came out to quick! We ordered appetizers, salad and main meal. Salad came before appetizers, not a big deal, but proper order is appetizers then salad. The appetizers came out before we finished the the delicious steamers and chili. Also, while the bussers clean tables, please ask them to wait until everyone is done eating each course. Some people may want their plates cleaned immediately but it's quite annoying when every five minutes they want to clean the table off and not everyone done. During dinner my husband was still chewing his food. He finally said I'm not done. Also, menu prices are not what our bill reflected. Menu should reflect correct prices. We didn't want to say anything but that's just wrong. We should be advised of this. Otherwise, we like the food! read more

I recently had dinner here and it was ok. It seems to be a bit more pricey now. We did get the filet mignon w/ shrimp/scallops. $40 was a big high. Just now the manager had me on hold with no intention to speak to me . When I called back he told me he was too busy to help me . I told him that being busy won't last and he will want customers to have to take care of. He got rude and said my Yelp review won't hurt him because he as been Here for 50 years they don't need my business. I treated myself to Prime Rib on New Years Eve. I ordered the 32 oz Cowboy Cut medium. It was cooked perfectly. I couldn't believe the size of it. Dinner plate size at least 1-1/2 inches thick. It came with a house salad and baked potato. I asked for sautéed onions they brought me a big bowl of them. A very ample supply to match the Big Meat. This was my first time here. The bartender service is wonderful. The ladies behind the bar are kind, hard-working, and attentive. The 1/2 price app specials and Friday Happy Hour cannot be beat. For a typical lunch, the crowd tends to be on the elderly side & slow. In the evening, especially when the place is packed, it's hard to flag your server. We have children & the establishment has tried to provide crayons for the children, but perhaps a child's menu w/puzzles would be more entertaining. Four Winds just invested in nice, new menus. I've only ever had two poor meals--the same item. We ordered the pork roll & cheese fit our children. The first visit it was blackened. Our second visit we specifically requested the pork roll be very lightly cooked, but it came out the same & we didn't have time to send it back. The server service is decent & the piano player is a nice touch. The Linguine in white clam sauce app could be a meal itself. This is the first review I've written about a restaurant, but the service was so poor I just had to comment. After being seated, my friend and I waited at least six or seven minutes before a waitress even arrived to greet us and give us menus. My friend's meal was unsatisfactory as it was missing several ingredients. When my friend expressed her displeasure with the meal, the waitress became argumentative and downright nasty. We both asked the waitress to please just walk away and we would pay our bill and leave, but she continued to argue with my friend. I love Four Winds. My family and I have been coming here for many many years. It's very close to my heart. The bar scene is definitely "Jersey Shore locals"; fun with great mellow entertainment such as your friendly one man bands or piano player. It's extremely cozy and comfy. So I never complain. But tonight really bothered me . I ordered a burger well done with Swiss and fries . I get just a burger with cheddar no fries. Ok no biggie I told her and waited to get fries. I bite into my burger and it's raw . I have been coming to the Four Winds for several years..The food has been at the top of their game with very few exceptions! I have been to the Midwest steak houses when I traveled and I have to say the first thing I ordered when I got back was the Prime rib at The Four Winds!!! Exceptional! The staff if very friendly and sometimes the place is packed so a slight wait is not unreasonable. It's sure not the largest restaurant but well worth the wait! Had lunch yesterday with a my closest friend from college ('75 graduate) so we had plenty to talk about! I ordered a salad which was supposed to come with Bruschetta with goat cheese. I didn't realize it wasn't on the plate until we were finishing up our meal....We were focusing on conversation, not that the meal was correct. That should be a given. When I told out waitress Emily, she realized and admitted she forgot to put it on the plate, but that was as far as she was going, other than saying she would go get it now. Stupid little girl...we were done with eating. I expected some sort of comp on the bill, but instead I got this girls mouth badgering me. I must have told her to walk away from me 15 times. In asking for the manager, she said "I am the manager and my father owns this place". When my friend came back from the bathroom, she even was surprised she was still badgering me and told her to just go get the bill, which she finally did and then brought it back with her mouth still going. Again, I told her we were done with her and walk away!! If in fact she is the manager, she needs training. I realize that perhaps she may have learning issues and her father just gives her a lunch crowd to serve, but put her in the kitchen, not out in the restaurant. I had a great lunch with my friends here the other day. It was a Saturday afternoon and we had no problem getting a table for 5 right away. The menu has a lot of seafood selections, grill items and salads. Try the Turkey Burger with Cajun Seasoning! It was so fresh and flavorful. I ordered a side of French fries with it but my friend had sweet potatoes fries that made me regret my choice. The sweet potatoes fries were much tastier! The menu is diverse however; there are not that many vegetarian options. My vegetarian friend ordered the veggie burger and she was pleased with it. There are also a lot of daily specials offered. One friend at my table ordered the Truffle Scallops special served with risotto. I didn't taste it but she loved it and cleaned the plate. The location of the bathroom is in the hallway leading to the kitchen and our server set up a bus station right outside of the women's room. This made for an awkward interaction when I was making my way to the bathroom. He said excuse me and was polite but there is no reason that the servers should be using this area and being in the way of diners. It is a large restaurant and I'm sure there is space somewhere else. Also, the servers who were either between shifts or taking a break were sitting at the table directly behind us when there were several empty tables. They should have seated us somewhere else if they were planning on taking a break there. I just find it unprofessional to be near consumers when employees are on a break. However, everyone was very nice and friendly and I had a tasty lunch. If I'm in the area again I'll give it another try! read more
