This is a real review. He just left. I sent about 10 requests for quote yesterday. Fox was the only service to respond with an actual quote. He was available the next day and he arrived when he said he would. I had a clogged sink with standing water. He fixed that but he also fixed some small issues with my toilet. He identified a slow leak, replaced a slow draining line and was very courteous (I had a video conference call during the service). Cost was reasonable. I think I was always hesitant because I assume there will be expensive surprises. This was very straightforward experience. Much better than I ever expected. I'm hoping others will be influenced by this review. I should have fixed the toilet problem years ago. read more

James responded to my initial inquiry in a timely manner, and explained what he would do to resolve the issue. He was also upfront about pricing, and his rates are fair and reasonable. James arrived early to our home, and immediately got to work clearing a clog in the bathtub--which was caused by a different plumber's rushed efforts to clear a clogged kitchen sink just a few days earlier. James did not rush, but instead he carefully worked to completely clear the clog from the plumbing, so that water drained properly throughout the system. James kept the work area neat and tidy, and cleaned the area when his work was finished. I just wish I had called Fox Plumbing first! My sewer backed up from the normal tree root infestation on my lateral during the evening hours. I reached out to six (6) pluming companies at 9 PM to find someone that can come the next morning, and only three called back and two of them wanted to see the property first before providing me a quote. Given all the disparate reviews on yelp about plumbers in general, I was hesitant to start calling because I wanted to not waste people's time to give free estimates. I looked on nextdoor and narrowed down the list, and looked up the plumbers on yelp. I called up James, and he gave a rough estimate over the phone based on my description (either a fee per toilet if it was a toilet issue, or a fee for the drain if it was a drain issue). We had a partially clogged laundry drain. We had another plumber in RWC (126 reviews/4.5 star rating) come for snaking. The RWC plumber could not snake it at all and told me that we need $1,700 work to replace the whole drain system, move the laundry machine and the vent location . Just a partial clogged drain turned into $1,700 work?! We needed a second opinion quickly and that's the reason I contacted James at Fox Plumbing. James doesn't have too many reviews yet but I liked what I read in the Yelp---honest, fair and great work. Also, James was highly recommended by a fellow plumber who has over 70 Yelp 5 star reviews. Enough evidence for me. James came on Saturday (Yes, Saturday!) and told me upfront he would not charge me a dime if he could not snake it, since I had already spend $$ with the previous plumber who wasn't able to do the work. The result----James managed to snake the drain 6 times!!!, he stayed after to make sure the laundry drains smoothly and assure me that he will stand by his work. We have used James for many years for cleaning out our problematic pipes and decided to step up and write a review. The first time we used him, everything was fine and he mentioned a 6 month guarantee, that he actually brought up when we had to call him 4 or 5 months later. James came on time and warned me not know how long a storm drain may take to unclog and hence exact estimate but told me how the fee was structured and was able to unclog fast. James Fox did a great job and clearly demonstrated that he knows his work and cares about doing a good job! Two other companies had come out and said it would be necessary to cut the pipes to move our pedestal sink in order to get at a clog in our very old pipes, which would then have to be replaced; neither even suggested that there might be another solution. James wanted to avoid cutting the pipe, and suggested that he could snake out the drain through the roof vent. His solution worked great, and saved us hundreds of dollars and a lot of mess.
