Read the reviews and take them seriously. I don't often post but after asking them not to include the additional rental insurance coverage they did. I went in trusting that the quoted price I was expecting was what I would pay since that is usually the case. It may have been my fault for signing but I had a conversation with the lady assisting me at the counter and she even told me that many others also use the credit card rental protection that I am using. I have a good travel card for that very reason. I was in a hurry to get to an appointment and signed the papers. I've emailed them and asked customer service to send a copy of my signed agreement to verify and they have not responded as of yet. On that same trip I traveled with a different rental car company and my quoted price was what I paid. Trust should be a priority to keep customers and this wasn't okay. I live in Austin, but rented from Fox in Seattle. They must have the same crap service everywhere. The only reason they seem cheap is because they nickle and dime you for everything. If you expect to get even basic roadside assistance in case the car breaks down, you have to pay extra. If I could give them negative stars, I would. On February 25, 2015, my family and I were visiting the Seattle area and needed to rent a car and, on the surface, Fox seemed the cheapest, so we chose them. We drove the car down to Portland, OR than evening and spent the night. The next morning while visiting the falls at a State Park, the passengers-side window was broken into and some personal belonging were stolen. In trying to contact Customer Service around 1:30 in the afternoon, initially, no one would answer the phone and, when the automated system finally picked up, I was on hold for almost 45 minutes before actually getting to speak with someone. Then, when speaking with the man who finally did answer. I was simply trying to make sure another car would be available when we got back to Seattle, but the guy was rude and unwilling to even listen to what I was trying to ask. He said that he couldn't/wouldn't do anything for me until I had a claim number from my insurance company and, basically, hung up on me. I then spent the next 4 hours on the phone with the sheriff's office, insurance companies, credit card companies, banks, and even the U.S. State Department trying to arrange for my wife's passport replacement. When I finally received a claim number from my auto insurance company, I again spent 45 to 50 minutes on hold trying to contact the Fox Customer Service office. Strike number 4. Number 5 happened when I got the same rude individual on the phone and he reluctantly confirmed that another car would be available when we returned to the SEA-TAC airport. The only shining moment I could find for Fox was the older manager on duty at Fox in Seattle that evening around 7:30 or 8. I really wish I could remember her name. She met us in the garage and was very helpful and kind in getting us another car. She actually seemed concerned about the hell of a day we had already been through. Fast forward 6 1/2 months later. On September 9th, I received an email from a customer service rep saying I owed $308.90 for the damage to the window. As it turns out, I had a $500 deductible on my insurance policy that I wasn't aware of. I thought that for theft and related matters I was covered more fully. I tried contacting the rep by phone, but she would never return any of my calls. On September 15th, I was finally contacted by another rep. She suggested I contact my Visa card company and turn the claim in to them. However, even on appeal, Visa has rejected the claim due to not filing within a timely manner. The fact that it had been 6 1/2 month since the break-in and theft and the email on September 9th was the first word on the matter I had heard from anyone! The invoice from the window company shows that the glass was replaced on February 27th. Why would it take 6 1/2 months before Fox bothered to contact me? Not only did I pay for the rental with my Visa card, but I had also taken out a travel insurance policy for the trip. Both of these entities would have covered the claim if they had been notified within 45 days. I certainly understand that I chose not to pay for the roadside assistance or the extra CDW. I thought, however, that I was covered by any number of the options available to me and would have been if I had only known in a timely manner. I believe that Fox Rent a Car bears at least some of the burden for failing to at least keep me in the loop on the claim during the preceding 6 1/2 months. That on top of the horrid and disrespectful treatment I received from Fox with the exception of the one individual makes it a pretty hard pill to swallow. I've since tried to contact Fox Rent a Car's upper management via email: Sean Buskin - Chief Operating Officer, Mike Jabouri - Co-founder, Operations and Business Development, Mark Mirtorabi - Co-founder, Fleet Administration, and Allen Renzapour, Co-founder, Accounting and Finance. All I asked is that someone review the situation and that I felt that Fox should have been at least be partially on the hook for failing to keep me in the loop regarding the matter. None of them have bothered to respond in any form which further lowers my opinion of Fox. Now, "customer service" is threatening to turn the matter over to a collection agency if I don't pay the full $308.90. Never use FOX Rent a Car! read more

Pathetic..Some fox rental car employees were complete jerks. Even though they had cars available they said they did not. They made me go from the main counter to the counter up stairs multiple times. Employees were fighting with themselves. The employee downstairs would say they have a car please go up but couldn't access her computer to reserve it. The people up stairs said they did not have cars. Eventually they did have cars... their employees were complete jerks. read more

Fox was a great place for our family, our sales person went above and beyond tonight to help us with our reservation during an emergency trip for our family. He worked with us and was very accommodating. I was not sure about renting at Fox since I didn't know the company but the great rates and friendly customer service will keep me coming back. I rented via the Fox website and requested an economy car for which I got a confirmation email. I also let them know when I'd be arriving -- 11:30 at night which was on my confirmation email, too. I got to the counter and there was only one car left -- a mini-Van. She said they overbooked. Not even a compact SUV -- a mini-van. I told them I was not going to drive a mini-van on city streets. The clerk gave me a sheet with my rate on it and said I should go downstairs and get a comparable car from Advantage and that they were honoring the Fox pricing. HA! Of course they were not. All they had were premium cars and I'd have to pay much more. By then it was about midnight. I was tired. I got an economy car from Thrifty for $70 more than the Fox rate. So, they wasted my time and my money. I also emailed them to let them know my issue and got no response so now they get a public negative review. Oh, and no apology from the clerk at all. read more

I would highly discourage giving this business you time or money. There were several hidden fees. I did not receive the rental car I requested. The first rental car (Kia Optima) that reeked of cigarette smoke didn't even make it out of the parking garage before the rear view mirror fell off. I had to return it for another smelly Optima. This one made it about twenty miles down the road before the drivers side window would not roll up. Never using Fox again. read more

I booked my trip to Austin Texas last week through expedia. They booked the rental car through fox. The total for the car for 3 days was $110.22. When I arrived, I was put off by the atmosphere. It was a tiny dirty counter at the very end of all the rental cars. The shady guy behind the counter found my reservation and told me the cost was $297.00 plus a $150.00 deposit returned after I return the car. Because apparently having my credit card number isn't good enough to keep me from stealing their car?? I told him I reserved the car for $110.22. He played with his computer and said he could do $240.00. I was getting angry at this point and showed him my reservation paperwork for $110.22. He replied "I'm not a mathematician". He then explained that he added on a tank of gas, tolls, and insurance. I said "I can get my own gas, I'm not taking toll roads, and I have insurance." He said "We charge $15 if you go through tolls and I doubt you have a texas waiver on your insurance" Well, my insurance covers nationwide, so I told him to take all that crap off. He played on his computer again (think SNL skit with the frantic typing) and said I can get you to $130.00. I was so frustrated I took it. My jeep renegade was scratched up and dirty inside. I took pictures as I was worried I would be balmed with how shady this place is. When I returned the car I was ONE gallon short of a full tank and they charged me almost NINE DOLLARS for a gallon of gas. Still waiting for the $150.00 to be credited back and it's been two days. I rented a few weeks ago and did so due to a great low price as compared to the big brands and also thought - "Heck - I'll give them a try". The Chrysler 300 I rented for 24 hours for a short business trip to Columbus TX was great. What a car! Problem was when I tried filing the fuel tank prior to return I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the fuel nozzle into the fuel tank due to a anti-theft device that Chrysler installed. I tried feverishly on my own and asked a station attendant for assistance. No help. The owners manual also did not discuss how to get the nozzle to fit in the tank. Hence I returned the car with 1/2 tank and asked Fox attendant Oscar for help. We walked to the vehicle where he told me there was a safety /security valve on the Chrysler. "No kidding" I sated and asked why he did not tell me that when I rented it from him the day prior. He told me that I would be responsible for the fuel at the exorbitant price they charge when you fail to refill - I debated as although I tried to refill, I could not. I've been renting cars for 20 years and this one truly stumped me. Oscar then told me that if I went with him in the vehicle to the fuel center, "he would show me how to fill it". Really Oscar? I have to catch my flight! Hence I was charged the full higher price for missing fuel and headed to my flight. I contacted the District manager thereafter who finally agreed to refund me the difference between the higher priced fuel and what i would have paid myself at the station. Really? And you want me to tell everyone what a great company Fox is? I don't think so. I failed to write about all the sub-standard customer service I received from all of the employees enjoying the environment inside the 2nd level air-conditioned booth in the garage while I waited for my car on day 1, when I returned on day 2, and when I was dealing with this fuel tank issue. Thanks Fox - you failed and I'll be back at Avis- National and Hertz going forward. They understand customer service. read more

I would give this company a 0 if I could. My flight was delayed by 30 minutes, I had a reservation for a car. By the time I made it to the car rental after landing, there was no one at the customer service desk, and they had a sign out stating "we are sold out". So I asked someone to contact whoever is supposed to be working there. A very helpful gentleman that worked for Enterprise knew the individual, and called her, saying that she had a customer who had a reservation. The woman did not bother to apologize, she did not bother to come to the desk and face me, she said they're out of rentals. She did know my name, and my reservation number, and she said she gave my car away. So, here I was at 11:30 pm, exhausted, and without a car. I ended up paying 3 times the amount through another car company. I called to file a complaint with them, but they just said "ok we will let management know, and it will be up to them to call you back". This company is RUDE and unprofessional, and I will never rent from them. STAY AWAY! read more

Charged $186 for a two day rental that was supposedly $24.99 a day. Totally unacceptable. Beware of hidden fees and charges. Customer Service basically told me they would not help me with this situation. Absolutely ridiculous. Will not ever use them again. read more

I should have read the previous reviews on Yelp. Sadly, I was pushed for time, and went to one of the travel sites to rent a vehicle, and chose the one that seemed to be all that I wanted, at a reasonable price. Item 1 -- they ask what time you are picking up the car. To me, since I was obviously flying in (It's at the airport -- duh?), at best it is an estimate. When we got to the rental terminal, we went over to the Fox desk -- there was a sign directing us to go outside to the parking garage to handle our transactions. Now, remember, this is Texas in June -- Hot and very Muggy. So, we went out, and got in a line. There was one gal working on rentals -- another gal was checking in cars as they came back -- during the time we were there, there was 1 car that came back -- a horrid organization/splitting of duties. There were probably 6 or 7 people in line, some looking like they'd been there a long time. After waiting in line for a full hour (in the heat and humidity), we finally got to the front. After informing Jocelyn of my name, she punched it into her computer, and glared at me, and said "You're very late -- we don't have your car anymore - your only choice now is to upgrade to something more expensive, or go somewhere else, I don't care, I don't have time for this crap!" I was on my very last molecule of patience, and asked if we could get a larger vehicle. I was then informed that we would have to put down a deposit of some 250 dollars. I have never had to put down a deposit, not in the 40+ years I have been renting vehicles. And, it took me almost 15 days to get my deposit back. Finally, after almost 25 minutes (Now we have been here for 1 hour and 25 minutes), we finally walked down the line to the mini-van -- of course, it was the VERY last vehicle in the row -- loaded the stuff we had hauled behind us and were on our way. I too listened to the whole toll road schtick, and was lucky, I guess, to have avoided all toll roads. When we returned the vehicle, Jocelyn was not there, the other gal who had been there before was working by herself. She informed me that it would take 2-3 days to get my deposit back. We turned in the car, and hauled our stuff over to the airport, and decided that we would never consider Fox car rentals ever again. Never again! read more

This was the WORST experience I've ever had with a rental car. I booked online through CarFlexi.com. The one week rental TOTAL cost was supposed to be $206. Much to my surprise, I was charged $455.41 at the rental counter. This was for tax and deposit. I argued that my amount due at the counter was supposed to be $189 (after paying CarFlexi $16.27. ) The agent was smug and said I could cancel and check with the other rental agencies. Now I have to go through the trouble of disputing the charges. Good luck reaching a live agent at Fox!! (And, to make matters worse, the "low tire pressure" light came on when I left the airport. All 4 tires were low. Oh, and don't forget to take a good look at damage on the car before you leave. There were many pings & dings on the car that did not show on their document. FOX RENTAL CAR IS A JOKE AND A HOAX!!! I wish there were an option to give minus 5 stars! read more
