We will never ever rent from Fox again. We rented a car for 10 days at Seattle airport and when we got there we were given a Kia. We woke up on our second day there to a call from the police that our car had been stolen from the Marriott parking lot during the night. Whoever stole it, rear-ended a truck and ran away. Fox would not give us a replacement car, charged us the entire deposit and 4 days rental. Our insurance company paid Fox in full for the car. We then got a bill from Fox asking for $2,300 in lost wages because the car was stolen. Our insurance agent told us that Hertz and Enterprise, who we normally rent from, alway waive that fee. In fact, our agent said the only company he has seen enforce it is Fox. We tried to negotiate with them and at first they said no, thats the price and if we don't pay it they will send it to collections. While I appreciate that they ended up giving us a break, we still ended up paying $1635 to them in addition to the deposit, the 4 days of rental, and the full insurance payment. We will be going back to Hertz after this. read more

6 weeks ago we reserved a Jeep Wrangler 4 door to visit and tour Washington with my father and his wife. Great flight in. Long line at Fox upon arrival. We wait for an agent and they tell us there are no Jeeps. We reserved the one, why isn't one waiting and available? No answer, just none in stock. I fail to see the benefit of reserving a vehicle if they are going to put you in any other vehicle they have in stock. We said we want the Jeep and they said our options were to wait until later and see if one gets returned (that's not convenient now is it?) or cancel. Today a colleague was the victim of a hold-up at the SeaTac rental car lot. She sought assistance from Fox car rentals, from whom she had rented a car, and they refused to assist her. The entire thing is reprehensible. There's no excuse for their lack of assistance. They accused her of lying, and would not call the police on her behalf or give her a phone to report it. They are on my boycott list - put them on yours too. She finally got assistance from a construction worker who witnessed the incident. She shaken up, and the SeaTac police recovered her belongings. Got to the rental terminal and there was a long line. I only waited about 20 min before being helped. The girl look flustered/annoyed. Standard rental talk and agreement signing. Tried to tell me to get the rental protection since Washington allows them to collect on fees if something happens to the car. Got the paperwork and went downstairs to pick up the car. The garage below is poorly lit (probably on purpose). They hand you a paper to circle any damage on the car. Our rental had so many dents, scratches, dings etc I nearly circled the whole sheet. You take it to the exit gate and sign it and the person working the exit gives you a copy. Unfortunately if you don't know what you're looking then I have a feeling they will try to get you for the pre-existing damages later but who knows. Also during my use I noticed my seat was loose on the bottom so the seat would rock a bit...not the safest... 3 stars for the girl working the desk since she seemed nice. 1 star for the beat up rental (at least the inside was clean). read more

I arrived at my arrival time to pick up the car and they didn't have anything available for what I reserved. They offered to give me a free upgrade if I added a driver but I declined. After waiting for about 20 minutes we received a car and everything was good. When we returned the car I was charged a $20 upgrade fee for some reason and my friend forgot her wallet in the car. When she returned to pick it up, the money was missing that was in there. I wouldn't trust this place or recommend it for anyone. read more

They take advantage of young inexperienced renters. They do not guide them to inspect the car, nor do they inspect them themselves. The car we rented had a spilled, sticky substance in the console and a toe nail clipping. Lovely. We had a tire blow out while driving 5 miles an hour through a parking lot. It took 4 hours to finally get towed to the rental agency, only to spend another 2 hours to get a replacement. They force a star rating. They gave me a push start button car with a key faab that was almost dead. Shortly after picking up the rental I started getting "low key battery" alert. There does not appear to be any non-electronic key and I'm now afraid I'm going to get stranded when the key dies. Fox is a discount car rental company, so buyer beware. I rented online directly through the Fox website for a 4-day pre-paid rental from SeaTac airport in Seattle. Pickup took about 15 minutes, even though I had pre-entered my Driver's License number. The agent was nice, but be aware that they will try to sell you every insurance option under the sun. I politely declined, as both my credit card and personal car insurance cover rentals. The car was nice and a very good value. My only issue with the rental, as I've seen from several other reviews, is that on return, I was charged for a full tank of gas, even though I refueled immediately before returning. This would have been an easy fix had he handed me a receipt, but he offered to email it and I didn't question him. He didn't say anything about additional charges, so I assumed there wouldn't be any. Fortunately, I looked at my receipt when emailed to see the $160.00 gas charge. Contacting customer service on Monday took about 2 hours, but they have a call-back option, so you don't actually have to wait on the phone. Nick was very nice once I got through and the refund was quick after I emailed a screen shot of the gas station fuel charge on my credit card. In the future, I will ask for a receipt on return or wait to leave the rental area until I see the total on the email receipt. I'd like to think this was just a mistake, but it seems very sketchy to me. All in all, for the price and quality of vehicle, I will rent from them again, but I will be much more vigilant on return. read more

I was at the rental pick up at the designated time. The car that I had rented was not ready and I was made to wait for about 30 minutes in the parking garage of SeaTac airport. Once I left there my rental went off without a hitch and I returned it full of fuel as agreed upon. Once I got my visa bill it showed that I was charged approximately $40 more than my signed contract that I had in front of me. I tried to call the billing department 3 days in a row and was on hold for 40 minutes + each time. The 3rd time I was on hold I got on-line and started a chat with the online representative. He sent me my final bill which showed "pre-paid" fuel for the above amount. Thankfully, I had stayed on the phone with the billing department. When they came on the line after one hour they told me that I did not return my vehicle full of fuel. I disagreed and advised him that I had a receipt that showed I fueled one mile from the airport. I had a discussion with him that this rental agreement showed "pre-paid" fuel for $2.95/gal and not the $7.99/gal if you didn't bring it back full. I did not authorize nor sign for pre-paid fuel and it was not on my signed contract I had in hand. I also told him that I should have been advised upon them checking my vehicle back in that it was not full. The billing agent pulled the return paperwork and it showed that I had, in fact, returned it full. They are refunding me my overcharge but it makes a person wonder how many others this may have happened to? I'm not keen on ever renting from this company again. read more

Fly by night rent a car company that shouldn't be allowed to be in business. We picked up a car at Sea Tac. It was dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke. When we told employees they couldn't have cared less. It has been a week since we returned the car and they still have not credited our $150 damage deposit. I called and was placed on hold and still waiting for a call back 30 minutes later. One hour later I finally get a call back. Yes they have not refunded my $150 deposit. The agent doesn't know why. It will take an addition 3-5 days to get a credit on my card. So now they will have had my deposit for 10-12 days after turning in the car. I am pretty sure they don't refund your deposit until you call hoping you will forget about it. NEVER AGAIN. After reading other reviews I wish I would have stuck with National. read more

This place is a real ripoff, won't ever rent from them. I made a reservation for $60. When I was picking up the car they offered to change to another car at the same price. I also told them that I don't need insurance as I my credit card provides insurance. When signing up the contract I explicitly confirmed that the total price will be $60 and that I don't need insurance. But when I returned the car on the receipt I see that they charged me $245 for that car and charged for insurance. On top of that they they have charged an additional $151 deposit that they still haven't refunded. Their phone customer service is horrible as it's almost impossible to reach someone, when you call they put you on a queue and need to wait for over an hour. When you finally have a chance to talk to a person they transfer you to another department but the call drops and you have to start over again. Then I finally was able to reach another department and asked but they complained on bad connection and just dropped the call. read more

Just made a reservation through Expedia.com for my mother (as she doesn't know English), remotely-out of state. I wish I would've known about the extra charges and such as when she arrived to the front desk, I believe someone by the name of Katrina had quoted her at 1300 when the Expedia "Due at counter" total was 750. She had tried to explain that it was for state liability, gas, & etc so my mother ended up paying for it as she barely understood and only understood that it was "mandatory" to have those things. The worst part, they gave her a tiny compact instead of the mid sized SUV we made a reservation for. as it seems that a lot of people are experiencing these add on charges, how the hell are these guys still in business ? I'm going crazy just thinking about what kind of other charges they're going to tack on when she returns the car. CONS: Why is the line so long and moving so slowly? Reservation made for 11am, but did not get to the front of line until 13:10pm. It is just preposterous to stand in line for two hours when an online reservation had been made ahead of time. I am a Seattle local, renting the car for a day trip to Oregon, and half of my travel time was eaten up by waiting in line. PROS: I got closer to the front of the line and an employee just started her shift: Kandice. She was a total rockstar! She got me in and out and remained professional while doing so, especially after dealing with angry customers. The four customers ahead of me in line were still talking to their teller after I had left. Was that was the holdup this whole time?...personal conversations? Who knows - but in customer service I think there is a great balance by speeding the line along all while having a smile on your face and Kandice did an exceptional job at maintaining that balance! OVERALL: Will I rent from Fox again? The line was just absolutely ridiculous! And my paid price was more than my quoted price. I couldn't use a debit card as a local; I actually made a reservation with my debit then started reading the fine print and noticed you couldn't - I had to cancel and rebook with a credit card. Not a major deal, but what if I hadn't read the fine print? All these things added up....no I wouldn't rent from Fox again. **I've noticed Fox replying to a lot of yelp reviews apologizing for the wait time that many have experienced. We reserved a car in December for our trip in July. Upon arrival to SeaTac at about 1am, we got to the rental desk and they were out of cars. Not just us, but about 12 other groups who also had reservations. How do you not have vehicles for people who have reserved them? They acted like it was no big deal and told us we would have to wait until 7am fof a car. It was 1am, and we were there with our 4 and 6 year old. Reserved a car online (Toyota Yaris) $360+ 36 for extended coverage. After waiting in line for what seemed line an eternity it was finally my turn. Get up to the counter and am greeted by a friendly gentleman. Give him my reservation number. Then he tells me I need to also pay $150 for a deposit, and also need to buy mandatory insurance. I tell him I purchased the insurance online, he says it's through another company and not good in WA state. So I'm pretty close to $600 now for "3" days for a Toyota Yaris.. my first day is already almost over, need the car the the full day the next day and am dropping off at 5 am the following day. Well I tell the gentleman at the counter I don't have another $150 on me. So he makes some changes for me and takes a day off the rental and says I will have to just pay the late return fee when I drop off the car which is $50.01. Then they try to upgrade me to a challenger or mustang after for a higher fee. Their pricing is terrible and although the guy I dealt with ended up getting me a car. I ended up paying $451 for 41 hours in a beat up Toyota Yaris. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars and not less, is because the guy at the counter did his best to help me get a car. I'm glad I ended up being helped by him because everyone else had a major case of RBF and obviously weren't thrilled to be there. read more

Rented a car at the SeaTac Fox Rent-A-Car today. The sales person was very aggressive in trying to upsell us on everything (the car, insurance, gas, etc). And the car was filthy inside in out (squashed bugs all over the front bumper and windshield, sand on the back seat). I guess you get what you pay for. I placed my order via Priceline app, I always recommend you shop around (also I've read recently, if you use a VPN or way to "hide" your searches for Flights/Hotel/Car etc. is price-adjusted based on your search history) to get a solid deal. Which in fact they were im fact offering a wonderful round-trip ticket with a rental car included for 225$. This was a quick flight so that price would've likely been the same but the rental is what will get ya. The only reason Im giving 3 stars is not for poor service entirely, I want to be clear, more like disorganized service. I waited behind 3 customers for 30+ min to pick-up (my pre-arranged). Pick-up time was 2:25, I arrived early and didn't get my vehicle until 3pm roughly & as a result was late for a Dr's appt but I still shoulder the blame for that. All I'd ask is have a clerk dedicated to clients who have ordered online & I completely understand collecting all of our information for protection of both parties in person. However thats too long when I can use Enterprise or a couple of others and I'm in & out in less than 15min! [SIDEBAR] I see an opportunity here for an app that uses autofill for Vehicle Rentals (insurance, CC, ID, Any other needed docs stored in app & able to provide this information ahead of time! Our flight into SeaTac was extremely delayed; when we got to the rental counter after normal hours we were told we no longer had a reservation because we were more than 3 hrs late--this was not made clear when we booked it. Well we rented a car from Fox Rent a Car through Rentalcars.com We purchased the insurance online to keep life simple. When we arrived the staff at Fox was rude and short with us. They told us that in the state of Washington you had to purchase insurance at their desk and that the online insurance was not good. They also told us we had to rent their IPASS at $15 per day (we never went on a toll road). When I said we didn't have our Major Credit Card they wanted a $400 deposit even though we had a return flight ticket (everyone else accepts the return flight). Funny thing, walked over to Avis and had not issue, didn't have to buy their gas, their IPASS and not deposit for not having a Major Credit Card. These people are crooks, avoid at all costs. read more

I booked a vehicle online over two months in advance and got multiple emails stating that my total due at pick up would be $173. When I arrived, they tried to charge me $506. The email did not mention anything about that price. It explicitly stated the price would be $173 multiple times. There was no mention of higher prices in the fine print, either. He told me that it was just company policy that they released our reservations (due to their 2 +hour wait time for a car) and charging us 3 times! They did end up finding a car after another 2 hour wait! However it was a small crossover that we were suppose to fit 2 car seats, 2 - 80 year olds, and 2 adults!
