I have been in this place twice; very different experiences. The art of dinning out has two aspects: the experience (good customer service, clean place, etc...) and the quality of the food. The first time was great, we went on a Friday evening, got a table outside, remarkable customer service, great vibe...in general was a great experience. We were very impressive with the food, good fresh ingredients and awesome combinations. The thin crust gourmet pizza is GREAT, this is not your typical pepperoni neighborhood pizzeria. The server was great, very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great recommendations. We ordered the sampler, which has a couple of slices of different combinations from their menu. At the end, we even ordered dessert, not the best apple pie a la mode, but it was good. Overall, it was a great dining experience in the patio. I forgot to mention in the evenings they have music in the patio and BYOB. Now, the second time wasn't that great. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and we decided to get a table inside. The food was still great, but the experience wasn't like the first time. I don't mind that the place inside is small, but if all your pizzas are the same side, have tables to accommodate the whole pizza and the plates to serve, it was really uncomfortable and it was only two adults and a baby. The server wasn't as attentive as the first time. The place was really dusty; PLEASE clean the wine bottles on the dining floor. Very disappointed, not a great experience. If you can't sit outside on the patio take the order to go (you will enjoy more eating at home), dine here only if you can sit and enjoy the patio read more

We arrived to Fralo's on a packed Friday night, preparing for a long wait. The hostess told us 30-45 minutes. No problem, grabbed a drink & sat at the bar inside. It wasn't a few minutes after we settled in that our table was ready. In my opinion, there is nothing better than sitting outside on a cool summer evening listening to live music. The fact that Fralo's is pet-friendly and that they serve really good pizza is just the icing on the cake. Our waiter warned us that the pizza may take a little while - 45 minutes - however, Fralo's provided the perfect atmosphere, I think we would have been just fine if it had taken even longer! read more

I'm usually such a big fan of Fralo's. My boyfriend and I come all the time and often bring our dog. However the past 2 times have been inpeccably horrible. The prior time we went to this past weekend, we went for his birthday and brought his family too. We brought our own wine (4 bottles) and a cake. After the waitress offered to put his cake in the fridge we kindly took her up on the generous offer and good customer service. Little did we know that there was a $35 "cake charge"?! and it was $10 for each bottle of wine we opened as well. That is OUTRAGEOUS. We spent more in fees than their food. This past weekend, after raving about it, we took my family and it has gotten even worse. Our server, Clint was extremely unattentive. We had to get up 3 times, once to get condiments for our salad, once to take our bottle of wine to be opened at the bar, and once to get a to-go box. We got tired of the 10 minute increments between asking him. However, he was opening wine for the table next to ours and even sampling it for them. He got them a to-go box and boxed up their pizza for them. I'm not certain why we weren't provided the same service. There were 3 other servers on the floor with him. He was rude and we only saw him twice at our table, when he took our order and when he brought the pizza. On top of that I asked for the pizza to be sent back because the meat on top of the Grant's Pear Pizza was cold and uncooked. He stated that that was how it's made rather than offering a solution. But I've gotten that pizza several times and it was never like that before. I'd know, it USED to be my favorite pizza. What a let down. Fralo's was my favorite. I even coordinated our company Christmas party there last year. Things have decreased in a year. read more

When I consider rating a restaurant I like to think about the entire package. The following criteria is how I rate restaurants: atmosphere, food quality, and price. Based on my experience at Fralo's, I can't rate this better than 3 stars. In fact, I have a little difficulty giving it 3. The reason it gets 3 is because of the superior service we received and the quality of the food. We ate the pizza and could tell that they use quality ingredients. So the quality was not the problem. The problem was we were looking for a pizza similar to what we are used to in NY in taste and price. The pizza did not satisfy what we wanted in a pizza and it was ridiculously over priced. After tax, tip, and cost our small pizza with sausage cost us $18.00--a crime. Again, I am not complaining about the quality of the ingredients--I can even see where they could potentially justify the price of pizza--but the pizza was not that great despite the quality ingredients. Maybe this pizza takes the cake for Texans, but for fellow New Yorkers, people from Chicago, or other areas where pizza is taken very seriously; this is simply not the place to go. read more

Awesome ambiance -- very close to the city but feels like an oasis due to the outdoors, country-style seating with Christmas lights. Great, relaxed spot for a first date...BYOwine will certainly facilitate conversation. Throw in delicious, thin crust specialty pizzas and quality live acoustic guitar, and it's always a good time. Usually crowded, and they don't take reservations, but they will uncork your bottle from home and provide glasses while you wait. read more

Great little place with solid pizza in a nice setting. We didn't get live music that night, but they did have tunes blaring over the sound system (a little too loudly). Service was good and even in the hot weather in July at 6:30 at night it was fairly pleasant. More fans might make it even better. We ordered wine and beer from the menu although you can BYOB. This place is pretty good, especially on a nice day since most of the seating is outside. It is BYOB as everyone mentioned - corkage fees are $5 per wine bottle and $5 per 6 pack of beer. The pizza is good, but not blow-me-out-of-the-water good. Seems like they use good quality ingredients to make their pizzas. This is a cute little place off Boerne Stage Rd right next to Leon Springs Dancehall. They have a great outdoor eating area to eat with live music. There is no liquor license here so it's BYOB which is cool, but they charge an cork fee for wine and they sell buckets of ice for your beer. The pizza is good...not they greatest I've had but it didn't suck by any means. Only downfall is the wait for food. The place was only half full and we waited 30 min for our order and one large pizza is a little pricey...$22!!! read more

Came back again to Fralo's. I have to admit- with the menu change I was a little put off...but it is FANTASTIC. I came on Tuesday with a party of five for my birthday and I could not recommend this establishment more. The atmosphere is superb which is matched with its menu. The Sampler is a must to get a taste of several artisan pizzas made in house with the freshest ingredients...which you can definitely taste. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful in deciding exactly what to get. The live music that night was on point, definitely set the ambiance for the evening. Great tasting pizza my favorite is the Pozzi (I know u might look at the ingredients and think I am crazy buuuuut you should try it!) , also I like the spanako and their salads are also very good. If the great tasting food is not enough for you, I really like their relaxed environment, sit outside at their beautiful looking patio and enjoy (sometimes they have live music), and if all of that is not enough, well....you can bring your own wine!!!!!! Excellent choice for a mid-week girls night! The pizza was amazing! We had a shrimp pizza and another sun-dried and farm fresh basil pizza. They were all so good made with fresh ingredients and High quality cheeses! They also have gluten free pizza, which my friend ordered and said it was fantastic. We tried the caprese salad and Caesar salads and they were flavorful, the dressing in the Caesar was tangy and creamy so so good. We brought our own wine bottles and paid only $7 per bottle as corking fee. They'll provide wine glasses and bucket with ice if you want chilled wine. And the cherry on top was the beautiful outdoor seating with live music and friendly staff. read more

Ordered the traditional pizza and we were blown away with how delicious it tasted. The crust was sorta thin, but not too thin. The marinara sauce was amazing and the ingredients tastes fresh. The waitress was also very friendly and told us that we can customize the pizza how we wanted, which was great because, while my husband loves cheese, I can't have too much cheese on my side, so they were able to go light on the cheese. The ambient was really good too. We sat under a big tarp outside that had heating, which was great for that cool night we went. And a perk of the place is you can bring your dog. I really appreciated that! The second time around was SO much better! Better service and better food! My friend who lives in San Antonio loved it and has kept going back! We love to go down to San Antonio every year during our spring break, and we always make it a point to stop by Fralo's. We like the outside atmosphere and the live entertainment. Sometimes the wait can be 30 to 35 minutes, but we end up staying every single time. The food is also superb and cooked to perfection giving me a thrill every time we go to eat at Fralo's. The servers are always so welcoming and understanding, even when we need our meal cooked a certain way or if I prefer something to be excluded from the meal they always tend to our needs. The first time we came to Fralos we even had the opportunity to talk to the owner who was extremely nice and made sure we were all taken care of. We love the food and everything about Fralo's. 5/5 would absolutely recommend and definitely revisit. One more thing Fralo's is even pet friendly, if I lived here I would bring my dog everytime. read more

My favorite pizza place ever. If the weather is nice, it's a perfect place for an evening meal. I love bringing my own beer and not having to choose from the usual crappy miller, coors, etc. I forget what the fee is for corkage though. I have had many different combinations and all of them were very good. Just get whatever you like on a pizza and I'm sure you will be pleased. My husband and I recently moved from South Florida and were in search for a good quality pizza place. We tried Dough Pizzeria Napolitana and Big Lou's, both were good but Fralo's is by far the best pizza place in San Antonio. Their dough is cooked to perfection. Their specialty pizzas are creative and delicious. Their pear, gorgonzola prosciutto pizza is delicious . Their nutty chicken pizza is also great. You honestly can't go wrong with your choice. They also have an amazing beer selection. The 1604 Blanc on draft is our favorite. Lastly, their staff is super nice and friendly, putting a bow on top on this amazing dining experience.
