We hope this review helps others prevent damage to their valuable art. We usually only write reviews when we're overwhelmed by amazing service. In this case, we were blindsided by extremely poor, confusing, and combative responses to a simple problem. Our experience with Pearl Frame Central started off with some frustration that was not their fault -- we took a really expensive print to be framed, and discovered when unrolling it that it had been completely ruined by the shipper. Bad luck, but the artist was super generous and willing to send us another one. We returned with the second print, and as precaution the artist had us take a video of them unrolling it, just to ensure that everything was handled with care. That's when things went wrong, and unfortunately why we have to recommend that you keep art of any value FAR away from this company. The print was unrolled by an employee who was super nice, but we noticed as soon as it was unrolled that the print had a noticeable scuff. We looked at it really closely and sent a picture to the artist, who told us the print was irrevocably damaged and shouldn't be framed. The employee told us that she wouldn't have framed it herself, it was too damaged. We're lucky that we took a video of the unrolling, since the video revealed that the scuff was very likely caused by her touching the surface of the print (see attached). Since we are not expert framers, we didn't know just how delicate digital prints are, and had put our trust in Frame Central to handle it with care. They didn't. We learned that one should NEVER touch the surface of a digital print, even with gloves. In retrospect it seems so obvious -- there was a white border around the print, and clearly that was the only part that should have been touched. But we figured it was just a mistake that they wouldn't make again if we gave them another shot. We sent an email explaining what happened. The artist was sending us a THIRD print, and absorbing the printing and shipping costs on his end. We were hoping that Frame Central could help him out by giving a discount on the frame, so we could pass it to the artist. And of course we hoped that they would unroll the third print without touching the surface (seems like a reasonable request for a frame shop). We've attached Frame Central's email responses, which we encourage you to read. The bottom line is that they stood by their practice of touching the surface of digital prints, blamed the artist for packaging the print improperly, and told us that in order to have them frame it, we would have to unroll it ourselves and sign a contract saying they weren't liable for any damage to the print. They did offer a discount, but there was no way we were going to have them frame it at this point. We called local galleries and other frame shops and learned that this wasn't common practice at all. In fact, Frame Central was not recommended by any of the galleries, which leads us to believe they are not trusted with high end art. We asked what it would take to file an insurance claim so they could compensate the artist, and Rocky, the VP of Retail and Marketing, replied saying that insurance wasn't an option (Natalee, the store manager, previously said it was). The scuff couldn't possibly have been caused by them, because, Rocky said, "The video shows clearly that the gloves touched many parts of the surface while unrolling". Kind of a weird way to argue that "To suggest that we improperly handled your print just isn't factual". All we were looking for was a professional framing job, and a small discount for the artist after a valuable print was ruined. We would have been customers for life. But Rocky told us: "That risk is not one that I am willing to take. I realize that my lack of willingness could ultimately cost us your business." read more

What they have working for them is the number of options they have in various sizes and materials/colors .I have often been to this store and loved the high quality framing works on display . Lots of great frames with pictures are also up for purchase. Custom framing is their specialty and they have a plethora of options for frames and mats etc. The lady at the store was extremely helpful , when I showed her what I had in mind for my art piece and recommended various designs and even tested them out for me . They are slightly over priced but the quality of work is great . read more

Fuck yall. Tried to charge me 15 smacks to put a standard size print in a standard size frame. Absolutely not. The man who was assisting was only helpful for measuring the prints we brought in. Cheap shit frames for 53.00, plastic bullshit. Went to a hit different frame shop on SE side called Framing Resource, find your business there, says appointment only, but walked in and got a dope frame cause the gentleman in there was very considerate and helpful! From the moment I walked in the door to picking up my order a few weeks later, I was unduly impressed by the fabulous people that work here and their excellent customer service skills. They're sincere and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to custom framing. Went in last week for readymade frames in standard sizes. Pitiful selection on the shelves, and was treated like I was a bother by staff. Immediately left and went to Framing Resource on the east side of town. Night and day difference in the level of customer care, price and selection. While I don't really have anything to compare the prices to, I love the tiered pricing structure: DIY (you buy the supplies, and do all the work in your home workshop), cut-and-carry (you choose the stuff, they cut it for you, you assemble it at home), assemble-it-yourself (you assemble the parts using their facilities and equipment), and full-service (you choose the mats and frames, with their expert guidance and assistance, and they do the rest). Great selection of supplies, creative and colorful frames, and extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and artistically educated staff. An enjoyable experience. read more

Finding a frame store with lots of frames is not difficult. Finding a frame store with lots of frames and also with staff that has an "eye" and is loaded with suggestions and excited to work with art pieces that are precious to their customers ... this is far more difficult to find and the very qualities that Frame Central brings to every job. I was impressed by both Darcy and Ian who helped me on two pieces of art that needed to work together as a central focal point in my living room. Man, I have so much trouble shelling out hundreds for a good framing job. But, I love my prints and cheaping out wouldn't do them justice. Each time I've visiting Frame Central I've been helped quickly and properly. They know their framing, in my opinion. They are also patient enough to work with you, while you decide how to perfectly frame your art. They also have a selection of pre-made frames that are decently priced, if you are lucky enough to have a standard sized print. There are a few prints to buy as well (some really cool old-time photos that I eye every time I visit). read more

I bought a Groupon....big mistake! So I paid $35 for 100 Groupon. And still this little frame to put a paint by number picture in it, priced at $245, then remove the $100 for the coupon, which brough it down to $145 plus the $35 for the Groupon, The frame cost about $180!!! I felt it was a big rip! If I would have been smart, I should have bought a premade frame and had them mount it in there. There was no glass or plexi to raise the cost. I won't do this again. I've had adequate framing here in the past. By adequate I mean quality that aligns with their prices. They've got very cheap prices and usually run promotions so it's a really affordable framing option. However, you're not going to want to get your favorite most expensive art framed here. You'll be disappointed. However, after today's experience, I've had enough of this place and I'm going to go elsewhere even if it costs more money. I'll explain. 1. Customer Service. This can be improved upon greatly. While they have never been outright rude or offensive to me, they certainly aren't cheerful. Again, it's merely adequate. 2. Quality. Well, it sucks. I've had 5 pieces custom framed. Usually I notice that the corners are not aligned (corners are cut at a 45 degree angle to fit together but here they're slightly off such that if you rub your fingers over it, it's not smooth). Today, my metal frame was so mis-aligned that the silver part under the black paint shone through, making it metallic and shiny. On a black frame, you'll notice it right away. I asked the saleslady to fix it and she proceeded to screw it more tightly together. But here's here I almost lost it. She said if that wouldn't work, she'd cover it up with a black marker. Excuse me? I'm not paying hundreds of dollars for a custom frame only to have you cover up your mistakes with a marker. 3. Consistency. The piece I went to pick up today was supposedly the exact same custom package of something I ordered several months ago. However, something didn't look right and when I explained what I was seeing, the lady said that sometimes they place spacers on their sides as opposed to upright. This resulted in something quite different from what I ordered previously. This kind of thing should be consistent especially when they found previous my order in their computer and I told them to do the same thing. Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed. I've lived with their mistakes in the past because I didn't want to bother going back with my framed stuff to have it fixed. This time, having spent way too much money for mediocrity (actually, worse), I decided to speak up about what was wrong. They get two stars only because of how less expensive they are compared to other framing stores. Otherwise I'd give them only one. But I'm taking my business elsewhere, probably to Art Media. They have done a fabulous job in the past, although they are pricier. read more

I have to share my experience with Frame Central and the sales person Natalee Phelps. I went to another company that is closing its doors at the end of July. I have an artifact that I wanted framed in a special shadow box with depth. I was quoted an ungodly price even with the 60% discount. WHAT A JOKE. I took it to Frame Central and told Natalee the same ideas I wanted. She was so helpful and told me how to save money, she saved me $189.00 more than half by doing the same design that the other place quoted me. My artifact was amazing and she did a beautiful job. I was assisted by "Cat"- she was the perfect person for matting/framing my wedding photo. She acknowledged me right away, and had a pleasant demeanor even though the store was busy. Once I showed her my project, she made suggestions for matting, then allowed me to explore my own ideas with different color choices and textures. There was no pressure. Ultimately, I went with Cat's first choice- she has quite the eye for color, nailed it on the first try. She gave me a projected timeline for completion and used my coupon. Went in with a groupon for $100 thinking I could get three pieces framed for around $400. Not the case each piece was $200. Luckily they have a discount program which saved me about $100. This place is very expensive but the service was decent and the finished product was nice. I think local companies might have more inexpensive options but def go in for a quote at least. read more
