I called GCS glass for an estimate for a glass shower installation on our remodeled bathroom. Unlike other glass companies they did not charge to give us the estimate. The pricing was comparable to the other glass companies. Laz gave us an estimate and set up the installation that very week. I don't know if it was the timing of our estimate because there is usually a wait period for 2 weeks. Laz was very professional and personable. I am really sorry that I can only give this company TWO STARS.. I recently had my master bath remodeled, converting a six foot sunken tub into a large and luxurious walk in shower. Brandon was quick to respond and gave me a pretty good "guestimate" based on my measurements and specifications which was quite helpful in my comparison and selection of the company to provide my glass shower doors. When the tech came to make exact measurements for the custom sliding doors I explained that I needed the largest opening possible due to my mobility limitations and dependance on a walker. While I currently don't need to use the walker inside the shower I'm aware that could change in the future and I wanted to be prepared for that possibility. He said he understood completely and we planned for a 26 inch stationary panel on the left inside with about a 46 inch sliding panel on the outside which would allow the large opening that I needed. Although the tech said it was usual to place the slider on the inside to prevent leaks, he "thought" it would be okay to place it on the outside as well. I liked the idea of having the larger panel and handle on the outside panel and thought it might make it easier to slide so that was the plan agreed upon. The glass was ordered and installation was estimated at about three weeks off. After a great deal of consideration I was concerned about the possibility of leakage with the slider on the outside so I called Brandon and after some discussion I asked that the placement be reversed with the slider on the inside and the smaller stationary panel on the outside as was more customary. He agreed that it would be no problem to make the change and would probably be a more reliable installation. The big day came and two techs arrived and worked diligently for some time. With the limitation of space involved, I stayed out of their way until they were finished with the job. That was a big mistake! And when I did go to see the shower doors I admired the color of the hardware and how well it matched the Champagne Bronze Delta fixtures, and how nice the clear glass looked in front of my newly built shower. They explained about the optional coating that I had chosen and the importance of using a squeegee after showering, which I had already purchased, and they left. It was a while before I had time to go back and really look at my new shower doors - they looked beautiful and were installed perfectly - EXCEPT - the larger panel was installed on the outside and was STATIONARY! The much smaller panel was installed inside and was the SLIDER! This leaves an opening of 23 inches - even less than the width of the panel due to the placement of the handle - and far from the oversized opening that I had ordered! It's a real falling hazard when I'm going in or out of that extremely small opening. And any possibility that a walker could ever fit through it is totally nonexisten! A less disastrous, but still troublesome situation is that when using the "U" handle on the slider to open the door as one normally would do, fingers get crushed between the handle and the stationary panel and extreme caution is necessary. Something I was unaware of but would not have been a problem if I had stayed with the original plan. And if I had done that, would the door have leaked? I'll never know, but I sure wish I had or at least stood watch while the glass was being installed! When I discovered the error I called and spoke with Stefan who said there was nothing that could be done - basically it was what it was, the company could and/or would do nothing. I had already paid 50% of the cost up front and I just didn't feel up to a battle - especially in court! I am 86+ years old, partially disabled and I can no longer drive. Faced with no apparent alternative, I paid the remaining 50% of the cost. That was probably another big mistake! The glass doors and hardware look wonderful and the mechanics of the installation are excellent and under other circumstances I could recommend GCS Glass and Mirror without reservation, but each time I struggle through that 23 inch opening awkwardly and fearful of falling, I think I'm being very generous with TWO STARS! Terrible communication. I had my bathroom measured on 2/13, they told me it would take a week or so for the glass to get in and then maybe another week or 2 for the install, I paid 50% down. I was super patient even though there were multiple delays. They thanked me for my patience. They contacted me finally on 3/6 to schedule and only had 3/15 or 3/16. I chose 3/16. They told me they would call the day before to give me a time frame. Did not hear from them yesterday all day (3/15), so I had to reach out and ask via text at 5pm and they just at first replied with "Our apologies." I said, it's tomorrow can you give me a time frame? "3-5pm" 5pm rolls around today and no sign of them, no communication, and I text them again and they say they just finished up the last job and are heading over. Too late now, I need to reschedule. Now when rescheduling they tell me that the morning slot for the next date is not available, which is a week later. No one ever gave me an option of a time frame so obviously, they treat some people better than others. Spending over 2k for sliding shower doors and they have shown me zero courtesy or customer service. read more

I have shower door and panel installed with them. After the installation, my shower door is shorter by 1/4 - 3/8 inches compared to shower panel. They told me it is industrial standard for a door not even with a panel. But when you look at their photo gallery online, none of the pictures were showing shower door is not even with the panel. They came back out tried to adjust it, told me without drilling new holes (leaving visible holes) on my tiles, they can't really do much. Or I can pay for a brand new door which cut slightly taller. This tells me, they could have installed the door which is even with the panel, but they failed to do so. I understand the difference is not much. However, I was never informed the door will not be even with my shower panel during consultation or in my contracts. If I knew I would have changed the orientation/location of my shower door. (Or perhaps chose a different company.) Then it will not be as noticeable. I tried to reason with them, and they told me it is industrial standard. And I paid full amount. I'm posting this review to help future customers to understand what you are getting into. Remember to ask the all necessary questions, best to get them in writing. Don't let "industrial standards" to stop you getting an even shower panel and door. read more

Recently I purchased a set of mirrors to compliment a new sideboard. The mirrors arrived first and I accidentally knocked one of them over last Friday, breaking it instantly. I spent a half-day sending emails to every glass & mirror company in the Austin area. Only one company, Ames Mirror & Glass, responded quickly and same-day. Robert was able to meet me at the shop on Sunday to drop off my broken mirror and emailed me later Sunday afternoon to say that he had finished the replacement. This is a "BAIT AND SWITCH" company! BEWARE! I was given a firm price over the phone "ballpark give or take a few dollars" and "we'll need to schedule for our guys to come out and make sure measurements are accurate but w/in a few inches/dollars the price is guaranteed to be accurate!" So I WAIT for the "guys to come out and measure" which was over a week away w/ a shower window replacement. "Low E, Double pane, thermal insulated, tempered glass" as outlined repeatedly over the phone w/ measurements that were within 3-5 inches of accuracy.... There's a recording of this BTW.... Then they send back the price and it is over SIX TIMES what was repeated quoted and assured of over the phone. 'Talked to the owner "Chance" and he didn't even apologize or make any effort to work w/ me on a better price..... He stated "we wouldn't make any money if we had to hold to our prices given!" And then said that he would check the recording of his employee giving me the price for the details that I gave (thorough on details and absolutely accurate), but that "they had to make money so even though his employee had "mis-communicated" (there was NO "miscommunication") and given me the wrong price and never mind that I'd waited for over a week to have them come out to measure, he just "couldn't do anything about it and the price would be SIX TIMES MORE!" Don't waste your time w/ this company. The owner has NO integrity and will give you one price and then it will go up when it's time to do the work and you've waited patiently, put off your other contractors, and he doesn't care!
