I was really excited to come here for breakfast but it wasn't anything extraordinary if you ask me. We ordered the mimosa flight, the lobster omelette, crawfish Benedict, and the lobster deviled eggs. The best thing was probably the deviled eggs. The fried lobster was yummy but the yolk concoction was a little too runny for my personal taste. 8/10 The crawfish Benedict had more filler than crawfish but the spicy hollandaise added a good amount of flavor and the potatoes weren't bad. 5/10 The lobster omelette was 6/10 at most. The actual toppings weren't cooked in the eggs themselves and just thrown over top making it very unappealing to the eye and messy when eating. The flavor was there but visually, I never would have picked this off the menu if I knew it came looking the way it did. Overall pretty underwhelming experience for the price you pay.

I'd been here before, but that was a couple of years ago, so I was excited to try it again! Be mindful that they don't take reservations here, but honestly, I was seated pretty fast once my entire party arrived. I went on a Saturday at 11am! The inside is so cute! It's definitely a place work taking some photos at especially in front of their flower wall with their neon sign. I loved the music they played -- a good mix of current pop hits and throwback r&b (personally loved the BBD and Bobby Brown ). Tables are quite close together, but I never felt cramped. You just might end up playing footsie with someone in your party sometimes, haha. As for the food, it was good! I went pretty simple and just got pancakes, bacon, and OJ. My friends got a skillet and the biscuits and gravy and loved it. The last time I got the cinnamon roll pancakes and mimosa flight which were also great choices. Prices were very reasonable, but it's worth keeping in mind that they add an automatic 18% gratuity to all check. They can also split and take apple pay. Unfortunately, AMEX isn't accepted here. Overall, it was pretty great and I'd definitely go back for a 3rd time!

Tried this spot for the first time since it was a VERY short walk from my son's Drs appointment. It was very cute inside and the music/vibe was very fun. My son is in a wheelchair and I noticed other reviewers complaining about space so I was slightly worried but it accommodated us perfectly fine (maybe because it wasn't filled to capacity-no wait? Idk). They definitely could have used a couple more servers but we didn't feel neglected at all. I had the Julius Caesar wrap, my BF had the breakfast burrito with chicken (maple apple) sausage and my son had the kid's mac n cheese. My son finished his plate (which was on a kids tray with each item separated from the other ) and he never does that! He really enjoyed the fries, which we all agreed on. My BF and I both enjoyed the flavor of our wraps as well. Mine had a great dressing-to-lettuce ratio... Was not dry like I'm used to with regular chicken Caesar wraps. And the chicken was not overcooked! We had an interaction with the executive chef and he was very nice. Got a good laugh out of my kiddo. We will for sure be back!

Jerk Shrimp and purple grits! Terrible! Does not taste like jerk at all!

Where do I start? First of all, 11 Department of Health violations is most concerning! Common on! 11 violations!! That's just pure laziness and a lack of respect for your customers! Secondly, these were the worst shrimp and grits I've ever had! The grits were soupy and the shrimp were flavorless! The dish is called Jerk shrimp with purple cheesy grits. I tasted nothing that even resembled jerk and the consistency of the purple grits was like lumpy, runny oatmeal! The French toast was okay, but it was room temperature and not hot! Overall, my food was a hot, soupy, flavorless mess!!! And don't get me started on all of these mysterious charges on the bill! Just tacky!

Omg this little brunch spot and the neighborhood it's located in, is all so cute! Not far from the lakeshore. I had the Franny's Skillet and my friend had the Julius Caesar wrap. Both very pleased with our meals, plus the portions are so filling! We ended up getting the mimosa flight with various flavors, plus, the Chef came out to chat with us and gave us one on the house. I think the cranberry mimosa may have been my favorite! Service was amazing, our waiter was super nice and gave some recommendations. They have a list of specials that they change out monthly. This month they have a pepper steak with purple grits that looks divine! I wish would've came back for that before leaving town. We had a great time!

This was my 1st time here. I saw a TikTok review of it so I decided to check it out. It also helped they serve breakfast during the weekdays instead of just the weekends. We arrived around 10 am on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded or loud. I'm glad we came here because the food was amazing. There were sooooo many choices though. The waitress showed us some photos and videos of the food which helped make a decision. We shared the fruit tower & a bacon flight. My oldest son got chicken & waffles & wouldn't let me get a picture because he was "starving" after a 2 hr flight. He ate it up, no complaints. My other son got the waffle flight (pictured). He ate all of it except half of one & that's only because he was full. My lobster omelette was good. It had a lot of flavor and meat on it. I couldn't finish it. Wish the TikTok review would have mentioned the 18% mandatory gratuity and 3% charge if you don't pay cash, but it is what it is. They also have a military discount. Everything was delicious. If I'm back in Chicago I'll definitely come back.

The ambiance was great! When you walk in you immediately feel welcomed. I love the patio and indoor seating are. It's like it is all meshed together which gives it the new, modern, hip vibe. We had a large party, but we were well accommodated and received excellent service during our visit. We even had the chance to meet the owner. On to the food, we placed our drink order first. Once we received our drinks, we placed our food order. I had the steak, egg, and potato combo. I wasn't too impressed with the food. It was not seasoned. Everything I had was bland. Now I must say they give you a nice portion of food, so you are definitely going to get your money's worth. I will also say that the drinks weren't as good as well. I love that they have flights available; however, they were syrupy. It took away from the overall taste and flavor of the drink. I hope things with the food get a little better. I believe season will change the game for them.

Cute spot for breakfast and lunch! Get the Mimosa Flight! Our favs were the cotton candy and the dreamsicle. We also tried the peach and blue curacao. Our server was informative and she showed us real pictures of certain dishes off the phone. We ended up getting the french toast flight, which included lemon, apple, strawberry, and blueberry. The lemon was my least favorite, but the rest were equally delicious. The ambiance is very comfortable. They have indoor or outdoor seating, and it's in a walkable neighborhood with lots of places nearby.

First time here for brunch and I will be back. The decor is super cute very French inspired and the food is to die for...my friend and I had a martini flight that was so yummy and we split the French toast flight and Feb special Mardi Gras omelette which was so good and filling. I live across the street from The Brunchery and this place brings the heart and soul to this block on Clark Street with its' loud music and outdoor seating. The music is blasting, so if you have trouble with hearing I would not recommend this spot. We arrived and they said a table was ready for us, but we still had to register to wait in line. About two minutes after we registered, my phone buzzed and we were seated. They get you in and out fast - I swear 10 minutes after ordering our food it arrived. The Bacon Sampler is fun to split for $10, and the Great Since '38 Breakfast comes with two eggs, a choice of protein - get the homemade sausage, it is so special and unique. They also give you sausage options of chicken, pork, or turkey. The Brunchery has one of my favorite coffee brands, Lavazza, so you will be as happy with your coffee as you are with your food. They give you a side of milk if you order it so you can add the amount you want. Patrons can be dressed to the nines, so something you might want to be aware of.

So this place was a bit of hit or miss. We got in with no wait on Sunday around 11:30 for two, which was nice. The place was pretty busy and VERY LOUD. Our server arrived right away and gave us plenty of time to order as the menu is pretty big. Lots of options that sounded good including the specials but we went with: Biscuits and Gravy Hash browns Breakfast corn dogs Create a scrambler (egg whites, broccoli, onions and peppers, with homemade chicken sausage) + grilled potatoes 2x cinnamon roll pancakes My husband's biscuits were fine but the gravy left flavor to be desired. The hash browns were good with the hardened cheese though! He also liked the corn dogs but again I thought they lacked flavor. My scrambler was delicious! Would def come back for this, especially with the homemade chicken sausage! but my potatoes were COLD. Like bad. The waitress was nice enough to bring me new ones which were piping hot but asked for the old ones back which was kinda strange... I certainly wasn't going to eat them all so it was fine but a little awkward as I attempted to scoop them onto a tiny plate. My pancakes though were a huge disappointment. Silver lining for my diet I guess but my husband and I combined ate less than half of one pancake bc that's how flavorless and dry they were. Def the worst cinnamon roll pancakes I've ever had which was surprising bc they looked fluffy and delicious! Would not get pancakes here again. Overall, our waitress was great and I really enjoyed the scrambler and grilled potatoes but that's all I would come back for.

Wanted to switch up my breakfast outing and tried Frances' Deli and Brunchery. Arrive shortly after they opened for business so that I could get in before the breakfast crowd. So that I could get a sampling of their French toast offerings, I ordered the flight. That came with strawberry, lemon zest, blueberry granola crunch, caramel apple, and a French toast of the week. All of the slices except for the French toast of the week was a hit. The French toast of the week had a heavy-handed rum sauce that rendered a mix of licorice and medicinal flavor to it. Accompanying the toast flight were eggs scrambled with cream cheese and cheesy hashbrowns. Both were perfect and didn't need any additional table seasoning to perk them up. If you go for breakfast, I recommend getting there as early as possible. The stretch along Clark Street tends to have a lot of pedestrian traffic, and brunch is already a popular outing event in Chicago anyway. One other thing to note is that if you get the French toast flight, it may be advisable to inquire as to what the French toast of the week is, so there won't be any surprises.

Came here for brunch, the place is really cute inside & very homey. We tried the mimosa flight, the flavors were cranberry, peach, cotton candy, & green apple... the food portion sizes were huge, our table ordered the green eggs with envy omelet which was alright, a little plain, the frannys skillet was huge and they added grilled chicken, the BLAT sandwich, & the biscuits and gravy. Excellent menu, food, and, great service. However, I didn't appreciate having a "service charge" automatically added to my bill. What is the unexplained service charge if I already pay for the food, tax, and gratuity? The server didn't know what it was for, so I had them remove it. I realize the cost of everything has gone up, but don't simply add it unless there is a specific reason. Tell them upfront you will not pay a service charge so they don't include it in your bill. The restaurant should indicate on the menu or bill if a service charge is included so each paying customer is aware. If a service charge is added to the bill, it is not obligatory to leave an additional tip unless you want to show extra appreciation for the service you received.tip If the restaurant refuses to remove the service charge, then that should serve as the waiter's tip. read more

I came here for brunch on New Years Day. The inside of the restaurant looked really cute, but we didn't have a reservation and the place is on the smaller side so we got seated in the tent. They had 2 heat lamps in the tent, and they did a pretty good job of keeping us heated from Chicago weather doing it's thing. If you're concerned about Covid picking up, I suggest getting a seat in the tent rather than indoor seating. I ordered sandwich/soup combo with the Lincoln Park sandwich and the Matzo ball soup. The sandwich was lackluster - I felt like I could have easily have made it at home. With the matzo ball soup, the waitress explained that it was basically chicken noodle soup with matzo balls in it. There was barely any vegetable or chicken in my soup - just all matzo ball soaking up my soup. Maybe this is just preferences but definitely would have liked my soup to be more .... Soupy. Overall I think I just picked the wrong dishes at this restaurant. My friend got the biscuit and gravy and he thoroughly enjoyed it! Will give it another try if I'm in the area. read more

Oh my goodness, I never knew French toast could taste so good! Try the flight sampler. It's a tray with a slice of all the French toast flavors. Whatever flavor you choose, you won't go wrong. Also, the jerk chicken Alfredo omelet was a big hit. Chef Derek is amazing! I don't think I've been to a restaurant where the chef makes it a point to stop by each individual table to welcome his guests. Back to the food. The French Toast flight was delicious and too much for one sitting. The bagel platter, called the "Robin of Loxley" was so well put together we almost didn't want to eat it! We did not come to indulge in alcohol but saw the Mimosa flight and they were so pretty I would recommend for brunch, the food is yummy and the decor is nice. read more

The French toast flights were by far the best menu item we tried during our visit! The jerk chicken Alfredo omelet was okay he next best mainly because of the sauce! The Mimosa flights allowed for a wide range of flavors but the syrup that was used instead of juice for the flavor was overwhelming in the mimosas. read more

I am a fan of Frances. They know how to brunch. Everything on the menu is good, but my personal fav is the BLAT. It's ridiculously messy when you do it with an over easy egg but that's the only way you should get it. Gets super busy on the weekends so my advice in snagging a table is to arrive on the earlier side! The bees have gotten a little cray this season but to no fault of Frances. His syrup is just that tasty. That said, if you're afraid of bees just choose interior seating instead. read more

Food okay, y'all the auto gratuity for minimal service (for one person) with no refill on the 4 dollar coffee is a no go for me. Dishes now smaller, side was minimal hash browns. This wasn't what it used to be. Won't likely be back. Food is still good, but not worth it read more

Disappointing. I came after an appointment and just wanted a couple of pancakes and scrambled eggs. Had to double check that this place wasn't a gluten free place or something. Pancakes were dense and a poor flavor. The eggs were a poor flavor and I could only have a bite. I wasted my money on a breakfast that should have been super simple. Nice staff though! read more

This isn't the Frances Deli you may have visited in the past. It's been remodeled, it's cute. A friend came into town and wanted to go to brunch. I remembered seeing the tables outside so we walked down. We got a table right away. That's where the good stuff ended. I order a decaf coffee. They don't have decaf. Huh? It's a deli!!! Due to many food allergies, I really no longer go to brunch but can typically find something. Yogurt, oatmeal-nope. Nothing like that here. I ask server if there are any gluten free options that are not egg dishes? (I'm allergic). No. Okay, some gluten free toast and jam will work. "We ran out of GF bread yesterday ". WTF. Fine, I'll take a fruit bowl and some turkey sausage. My friend orders a skillet. My fruit tasted terrible. I mean, how does one mess up fruit??? The turkey sausage was some horrid looking abomination that was actually bacon. Oh, it was cold when server brought out. I ask for a new one, it's just awful. My friend said her skillet was really not good. She later got a sour stomach. So it's a never again will u visit place. Not impressed. read more

Such a fun spot for brunch! My friend and I decided to give Frances' Deli a try after noticing how cute and quaint it was. The mimosa flights looked out of this world but we settled on a nitro cold brew each. Very smooth and creamy and only $1 more than a drip coffee. The bloody Mary's also looked excellent. For our entree we shared the turkey club on sourdough. It was very tasty. Turkey was a little bland but was well balanced with the bacon and avocado. For our sides I had the fruit cup and she ordered the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were to die for. Definitely would recommend. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and it didn't disappoint!! I was initially turned off by the restaurant because I called to see the wait time and they said "we don't give wait times over the phone." I think that's a little ridiculous, but we decided to go and wait for about 30 minutes. The inside is overly decorated with tons of those basic signs about brunch and food but I loved it. The place is very small and the tables are right next to each other, which explains why there is always a wait. I couldn't decide what to order, so I got a sandwich, soup and French toast. The sandwich had a very generous portion of meat and the French toast was delicious. I thought the soup needed more more flavor, but once I added some salt I thought it was decent. I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!! read more

I first heard of Frances' Deli after a Yelp Elite event hosted there last week, where I was able to try some small bites of their food. I loved it so much I had to come back a few days later for full brunch! I had a wonderful experience! Firstly, their alcohol options are AMAZING. They have mimosa flights AND boozy shakes - what more could you ask for?! Naturally I had to try both! The shake was great flavor wise, but it was on the thinner side. I really enjoyed it though. The mimosa flight was awesome! Their flights rotate seasonally, which is cool too. We had lemon, blueberry, strawberry, and apple cider mimosas. They were all so good, but I think the lemon was my favorite. For my meal, I got the French toast flight, where I tried four types of French toast: blueberry, strawberry, lemon, and caramel. I loved the caramel and strawberry ones most, but all were great! You actually don't need syrup for them - they each have some type of sauce that is perfectly sweet. If you think mimosa flights and French toast flights are a lot of flight options - wait there's more! We also got a BACON flight! The food here was so good! The mimosa flight was something different to try and was worth it. The cinnamon roll pancakes were delicious and the shrimp and grits were pretty tasty. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the bacon flight but I'll have to try it next time I come because I'm definitely coming back. This place was awesome! Everyone's brunch was delicious and our waitress was very accommodating! After reading reviews of some brunch places near where we were staying, this one seemed to have the best variety on the menu. The Mega Flight (which is what I got) was perfect. It let me try every flavor of French toast and the French toast of the week which was white chocolate raspberry. Today I tried croque meusier. Not really good, I give it a 6 out of 10 for this one. The place is cute, and has some beautiful plastique flowers that looks really real, and a cozy atmosphere. Nice venue for brunch. Food was flavorful and there was plenty of reasonably priced variety dishes. A few of us ordered the homestyle skillet, the lox platter, we all had the mimosa tower (creative & very sweet). I love that all 14 of us received a separate tab, gratuity not included. The place only has two single stall bathrooms, toilet seat hit the floor upon letting it down, that needs to be repaired. And I strongly recommend that after our experience that the owner mandate everyone wears a hair net. We were all highly disgusted that one girl had the longest, thickest strand of hair intertwined in her skillet, gross. Seeing this made it hard for others to finish their food for fear of having hair in their dish. Just wear the hair net dang it!! read more

Yum! We've been here twice now and we love it! We are pretty much creatures of habit so we've had the same thing both times now-- my husband goes for the Lou on the Lake sandwich, and I got for the B.L.A.T with the egg over medium and we share the French toast flight. The French toast flight is so good because it's served with maple whipped cream so your French toast doesn't get soggy by sitting in a puddle of syrup which I thought was pretty clever and also delish. The Lou on the Lake has my husband written all over it so it's really nice to find somewhere close to home that has something seemingly perfectly tailored to his appetite. Like many Yelpers, I was introduced to Frances' Deli through a private Yelp event and had to come back to try more items on the menu! This is a hidden gem in the neighbor! I've been to a few restaurants in the area and missed it so many times before the event! We decided to grab brunch on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was very busy! Luckily, the wait wasn't too horrendous. The two of us walked in and was sat in about 20 minutes. Both the brunch and lunch menu ate very comprehensive and includes your popular brunch and lunch items. There are "flights" of everything! The most popular is the French toast flights, which I've had at the event (soooo delicious!). But this time I wanted to try their homemade sausage patties again! I ordered the 1938 breakfast, which includes 2 eggs (cooked your choice), your choice of meat, toast, and hash browns. I ordered the jerk sausage patties (which weren't as spicy as I would have liked) and done cheesy hash browns (delicious!). Everything we tried was definitely tasty! This place is great in person. Unfortunately, their menu just does not list everything that is in the items. I ordered a BLT through a food delivery app and when it arrived, there was avocado on the sandwich. I have a severe allergy. This was not listed in the app and it is not listed on the restaurants menu. When I tried to reach out to the restaurant, they have their phone going directly to voicemails. Was looking for outdoor dining with my girlfriends. I've been here a few times before and knew they had a good menu, they sat us outside and warned us that there's bees around. As soon as our food came out, there were at least 5-10 bees rolling in our food. Not just flying around. And we understand, that they can't control the bee situation, however, they didn't offer any alternative helpful options even though there was open seating inside. The manager didn't even offer to pack up our food to go, but instead blamed us for having been warned about the bees. Good food, below average service (had to remind waiter a few times for our coffee, food, sauces, etc) Very unfortunate experience with management. We were really excited to try this great neighborhood spot, but unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed. Both of our breakfast meals were bland and gross, neither of us could finish. For a place known for brunch, we expected great hash browns and not soggy French toast. Additionally, the staff were inattentive and actually quite rude. I was very disappointed with this place. I got a corned beef sandwich and a pastrami sandwich with matzo ball soup and a side of potato pancake. For a 12 dollar sandwich, I expected more. I have never seen a deli put so little meat in a sandwich. Usually I'll see at least 1/3 pound of meat for a typical sandwich for the same price. The pastrami and corned beef itself was quite tender and flavorful; it just needed more. The matzo ball soup was also lackluster. The matzo ball was undercooked and very tough in the middle. I don't know if I just got a weird one, but I got two matzo ball soups and they were both undercooked and tough in the middle. The broth was pretty good however and seasoned well. The potato pancake was the only thing I really enjoyed. It was crispy with a good amount of seasoning and fluffiness. I wouldn't come back here. The sandwiches don't stack up, literally, to other deli spots and most everything was just meh. read more

Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.

I recently visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from someone on TikTok, and I have to say, I absolutely loved it! I went there for Saturday brunch and arrived a little late at 2:30 PM, but the restaurant was still able to accommodate me and my 2 year old daughter since it was just the two of us. I appreciated that. Our waiter, Jamie, was amazing! She was attentive and provided great service throughout our meal. I ordered French toast, bacon, and potatoes, and they were all absolutely delicious and fresh. To drink, I had a mimosa and hot chocolate, both of which were great. The food was also very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant's atmosphere was also worth mentioning. The aesthetic appeal and good vibes of the place were noticeable as soon as we walked in. I felt very comfortable and relaxed throughout my entire meal. The only downside was the parking situation, which was a bit crazy. I had to look around to find a spot and ended up having to pay for parking. However, this is a minor issue considering how great the overall experience was. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great brunch spot with delicious and fresh food, great service, and a pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely be back soon! I ate lunch there this past weekend. I had the #11 grilled turkey, muenster cheese and honeycup mustard on grilled challe bread with a potato pancake, you have to try this sandwich. The turkey is real turkey and the they make their own potato pancakes. I had the corned beef Reuben on a previous visit, it was the best I ever had. They have the best sandwiches and milkshakes. Try the Oreo milkshake. My friend had the spicy beef tenderloin andouille sausage chili followed by the Chicken Avocado Club, grilled chicken breast,bacon, lettuce, tomato, swiss, aioli and avocado on grilled challe bread (thick egg bread). After countless recommendations, I finally made it in--specifically for their famous French toast. Let me start with the decor: totally Instagram-worthy, with adorable vintage plates that added a charming touch. The service was friendly and quick, which made the experience even better. Now, onto the food. As someone who doesn't typically go for sweet breakfasts, I was a bit hesitant, but every French toast flavor was a fun surprise. Wow they have the Chef from Batters and Berries what a treat, French Toast Flight with four different french toasts, Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Crunch, Caramel Apple and Lemon Chiffon, all outstanding. Some very unusual breakfast items, Soft Shell Crab omelet, Chicken Fajita omelet and of course their staples corn beef sandwich and a Fat Burger in between Grilled Cheese sandwiches all memorable and would make me go back again and again. What once was a dated deli now transformed into a posh brunch restaurant with champagne flights, great lox platters and amazing brunch dishes as a French toast flight with five different fresh fruit infused French toasts. The waffle and chicken to die for along with jumbo Rueben's and corned beef sandwiches piping hot. The omelettes are fantastic. They're ginormous. If you don't get a special, a lot of things are a la carte. Don't bother ordering any of the usual add-ons like hash browns as I did unless you're a house or just have to have it. I thought I was going to die after stuffing myself, but at least I would've been happy. The sandwiches around me all looked excellent, and they sell beer. Honestly, the biggest problem you will encounter at this place, is picking what to eat. They have such an large menu (including breakfast all day- which is always a plus) and the food is all really good! If you eat breakfast you should definitely get the skillet, it's like the hang-over cure, but if your in it for lunch go with any of the turkey sandwiches, it like leftover thanksgiving turkey!!! I love Frances'. The only downside is that it does get awfully crowded on weekends--during brunch time--but that is just a reflection of how great the food is! It's a great spot if your hungover and need a quick bite. Unfortunately there isn't much special there. They have triple deckers which accommodate for the hunger aspect, as far as the taste factor goes extremely lacking. The most "recent" owners have had it since 1988.
