    Pork Flautas (Five Per Order)

My family and I ordered takeout from Franco's Mexican Restaurant and were really disappointed this time. The pork flautas barely had any pork--kind of missing the whole point of the dish. I understand costs are rising, but skimping on the main ingredient is frustrating. On the positive side, our order was actually ready on time, which hasn't always been the case. In the past, Franco's has struggled with getting food out efficiently, and there seems to be a disconnect between the kitchen and front-end when it comes to handling orders. Unfortunately, this visit didn't do much to improve our overall impression. It'll be the last time we order from Franco's. Overpriced, food rations, and not the best quality of service. I'll just wait till my wife gets back from vacation. She makes better and authentic Mexican food or go over to Reyes Market across the street and get tacos from them instead. At least their food is made to order and expedited.

We have passed it a few time when in that strip mall and have wanted to try it. Then we aw an article posted on nj101.5.com of one of their employees raving about this place, so then we said ok, we have to try it! We went on a Sunday at an off hour. We were told to sit wherever. It is decorated with that ornate Mexican restaurant vibe with the high wooden back boot seats. We ordered the mixed fajita taco bowl. It was decent. It didn't have a lot of meat and the shrimp was cut up. It had a lot of filler of lettuce and rice. I would have even taken more beans. I would try this place again and get something else, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

    Birria Tacos

I got an order of the birria tacos. Quality food, portions are a bit small. If i'm paying $20 for tacos and a drink my portion better fill me up, which it did not. Service was slow.

Started out loving this place but it's very inconsistent. Last night I got what I always get, the bistec salmon. We asked for sweet plantains instead of tostones because the tostones are NOT good they are dry, tuff, oily and flavorless. Got home and they gave us the tostones anyway. As for the salmon it had a weird nasty after taste like it was freezer burnt. The black beans were flavorless as was the rice. It seems like they don't have a consistent cook. Either way not sure if we'll be back. When it's good it's good, when it's not it's almost $60 wasted plus gas because it's not a short drive. Not worth the gamble.

    Carne Asada fries

Everyone on our local Facebook group raves about this place when it first opened, so naturally I HAD to try it. The reviews I had seen mentioned how the place was always packed and I figured I'd beat that by ordering takeout. Ha! Joke was on me. We had to wait and hour to go pick up the food... and guess what... we waited lol. I had the tostada and the carne asada fries. Both were delicious! Opening the takeout carton was so pleasing because I definitely ate that food with my eyes first. It looked so pretty and tasted even better. I ordered the fries (via takeout) 2 more times during my lunch break since I work from home (relatively close). If you're in the mood for Mexican definitely give it try, but I do remember calling that evening and not being about to get through for about 5/10 minutes so just keep trying. It's worth it.

    Dry Chimichanga?

Our experience was truly horrible. First we tried to call in an order and no one answered the phone. Previously we had a good experience with the quality of the food. So we went in to place our order for takeout. When we got there the gentleman at the counter told us he doesn't answer the phone anymore because of door dash. So they don't take orders over the phone. We then ordered our food and we were quoted 40 minutes, which was fine because we thoroughly enjoyed the food previously. After an hour we asked about our order only to be told that they just started working on it because they were taking care of the door dash orders first. We spent an hour and forty minutes waiting on our food only to receive most of it cold and missing items. On top of that we asked for a dry chimichanga and as you can see from the picture not so dry. We were completely disappointed with the service and their decision to make door dash their priority instead of the customer in their restaurant. Shut the doors and make it delivery only if that's your choice to tend to DoorDash over your customers.

My dad didn't feel like Mexican so when we got home, I mentioned it to my husband and he wanted to try it out. When we got there, there were a couple of tables taken, and they were all speaking Spanish. Good sign #1. The place was clean, bright, and cheerful. Good sign #2. The server (? He seemed to be doing every job there) greeted us and told us to sit wherever we wanted and then asked us what we wanted to drink. I got water and my husband ordered horchata. It was really good and not too sweet like it can be. I ordered a huarache with carnitas and my husband ordered chilaquiles with red and green sauce. The chilaquiles were so good he had them gone in a couple of minutes. I didn't have a high expectation of my lunch because it was not on a masa base, it was a tortilla. I still ordered it because I figured the tortilla would be a lighter meal for lunch and I wouldn't feel as drained as if it was masa. My huarache had a base of some of the best refried beans I've had in a long time and let me tell you about the carnitas! In the area we used to live in, carnitas was generally served as shredded pork. Here, it was chunks of meat and I was a little anxious that they would be tough. But oh, the meat was so tender! I barely touched it with my fork and it fell apart! I barely had to chew it. I was really only chewing the tortilla. It was flavorful without being too spicy, so the taste of the carnitas could shine through. Honestly, this place is a little unassuming hole in the wall type of place in a weird strip mall that also has a surgery center and a gym in it. But you know, that's the kind of place that outshines any big places.

Set in the center of a quiet shopping center, I HAD to post this review because I need people to know this exists. While I was expecting typical guacamole, tacos, chimichangas, and burritos, this was NOT that. The menu gives off an upscale Mexican vibe that is completely unexpected. The dining area is much larger than we realized upon entering the restaurant. We were given homemade chips with salsa and salsa verde. We started with the queso with chorizo. It arrived in a little skillet with soft tortillas for dipping. The dip was basically all cheese and chorizo. It needed to be lifted or pinched into the tortilla and was not dippable. I wasn't a huge fan of this, but this was the only thing I didn't love. I then did the roasted beets with cream cheese, avocado, pistachio, jalapeños, and fig reduction. This was out of this world with fresh ingredients and an amazing blend of flavors. For my entree I did the Pollo Poblano which was thinly sliced chicken breasts with roasted poblano peppers, cheese, crab, and a tequila cream sauce. It didn't come with any sides so I did the rice and beans. The rice was creamy and had bits of corn and herbs. It was almost like a risotto. The refried beans were black beans rather than your typical pinto beans. My bff had the veal enchiladas and said they were okay, but I didn't try them to give a full synopsis. We were too full to do dessert, but I had this chicken 4 days ago and I am still fantasizing about it. I need to go back. Definitely check this place out!

We went in today to have breakfast and it was honestly disappointing My husband said his burger was amazing and delicious, but my breakfast was mediocre, and it seemed as though the young lady at the front was more concerned with the takeout and To go orders than the customers who were dining in their establishment. The place was empty, except for two other people who were dining alone. I got the create your own breakfast for $15 which offered a platter that I would build myself, and I really like that option for the flexibility of choosing what I would like to eat, however, I was charged $1.25 for barely a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and I had to wait a really long time to get a refill on my drink I guess this place isn't so bad if you're ordering takeout, but if you plan to dine in maybe reconsider another place that has better service

Whether you're ordering a burrito, tacos, or something off their full entrée menu, you'll leave full and satisfied. The burritos especially are solid--hearty, flavorful, and well put together, and the rest of the menu holds up just as well. Everything is seasoned perfectly and cooked with care. The interior decor is really fun and vibrant, with a lot of attention to detail. It's one of those places that's actually worth sitting down to eat in just to enjoy the atmosphere.
