    Mixed döner sandwich
    Christine V.

The food here is exceptional! There are a lot of other döner places in and around LA, but this truly is German style! I remember being in Frankfurt and having a döner and this is right up there! The difference is their bread. This one is on a toasted sesame seed bread that just brings out the flavour of everything inside. The service was great too! Everything was made fresh and we will definitely be returning! If you're in the Pasadena area, check this place out. It's small and easy to miss but definitely worth a side trip to this hidden gem!

Mixed chicken and beef döner with spicy sauce
    Jennifer J.

This little unassuming eatery tucked away in a tiny strip mall is a true hidden gem. My fiancé and I stopped by here on a whim, and we were not at all disappointed. The menu is pretty simple--döner sandwiches, wraps, plates, or German sausages. We opted for the mixed chicken and beef döner with spicy sauce and no onions. The standard vegetables include lettuce, tomato, and marinated cabbage. It's sandwiched between some crispy sesame bread that's baked fresh daily. The bread is light and airy. The combination of flavors from the meat, white sauce, spicy sauce, and marinated cabbage along with the crunch of the bread is heavenly. The owners, Arten and Vahe, are so nice too. I can't wait to go back.

    Beef donor sandwich

If you're looking for donor style sandwiches must try this place. Ordered a beef donor sandwich - loved the bread, meat was tender, flavorful, bunch of toppings, and the spicy sauce was great. They will be adding more items to their menu.

    $9.99 Special

Current Special: Sandwich, ton of fries, and a drink for $9.99. Can't get a deal like this anywhere. And, beef sandwich was so good. Toasted bread and fillings (tomato, marinated cabbage) were perfect. A must try even without the special.

Under new management... first German "sandwich" I've had. Had the beef and chicken sandwich with an order of crinkle fries to go. It was $45 dollars. Let me repeat IT was $45 dollars. That's my take away.

What is the parking situation here?

There is free parking, however several small shops on the corner so it can get busy at times. Most likely you will be just fine

Fritto miso: loved the addition of shrimp, good sauces, more soft than crispy Prosciutto tartufo pinsa: great combo of flavors, more of a flatbread than traditional pizza crust, would've preferred some more sauce but the prosciutto itself was so good Penne: very simple, slightly spicy red sauce, nothing too special or out of the ordinary Would definitely come back and try some of their other dishes or even their breakfast, brunch, or dinner menus

So I decided to try two of their hot subs, the meatball and the chicken Parm. Both sandwiches came with a mixed green lettuce salad with Parmesan cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette. Not bad for an added freebie. But to the main course. The meatball sandwich was mediocre at best. The meatballs themselves contained way too many breadcrumbs and tasted more like the breadcrumbs then they did the usual ground pork & beef meat that goes into making them. The marinara sauce was bland with none of the normal Italian seasoning coming through or salt popping through, and the cheese didn't really stand out. The guy behind the counter recommended the chicken Parm when I asked about hot deli sandwiches over the meatball, so I ordered both just to try them out because I wanted the meat ball. The chicken Parm, came on a nicely toasted ciabatta style bread that they gave a good char to add some flavor. But the chicken Parm was just as mediocre and bland as the meatballs, with no salt or seasoning to speak of. I ate half of both and I have no desire to finish them. Let's just say it this way, if I had a dog, I'd know what he would be eating tonight. Ways to improve the sandwich would be seasoning seasoning seasoning into the ground meat on the meat into the breading into the sauce. An aged provolone with a little more funk to it, perhaps a drizzle of some high-quality olive oil onto the bread. Hopefully their other food is better..:

I have such fond childhood memories of going there with my parents and grandparents and receiving what seemed like foot-tall soft-serve cones. They also make the best malts, terrific burgers, and excellent deli sandwiches. The pastrami on rye and grilled cheese are dependable favorites--or you can splurge on a classic banana split. Add fries, with or without chili, and you have the perfect old-school meal. When I was growing up, they called what most people know as a chocolate-and-vanilla twist a "ripple." That is still what I order--and what I call it--wherever I am in the world, even when people look at me funny. Whenever I am in Pasadena visiting family and friends, a stop at Connal's for a ripple, shake, burger, and fries is practically mandatory. Some places serve food; others hold generations of memories. Connal's does both.

The salami was processed, not dry. It came with a major portion of yellow mustard (not requested), tons of finely chopped wet lettuce, no cheese. Horrible and soggy. I would have requested my money back, but it was a to-go order. The quality of the entire restaurant has gone, and it seems no one cares, as this has been going on for over a year. Inside the restaurant, the tables were empty and unclean. The wall decor sign for the restaurant, was broken and meant nothing as it was missing the store name. It was an icon restaurant, but now broken, and terribl.
