IT TOOK ONE HOUR JUST TO GET MY SANDWICH. Ten minutes wait just to place an order after the customer before me ordered and 50+ minutes just to get my food. I understand they were really busy but the irritating part was the lack of notice or heads up it would be a long wait. Had my coworkers and I known it would take this long we would have gone somewhere else. Even when placing an order, not even an acknowledgment of "hey, thanks for waiting, I'll be right with you," nothing. The best (worst) part is after all this, they gave me the WRONG FOOD. I typically only write reviews when I'm happy. But, today I'm a Karen. We arrived at 1:00 on a Saturday- post lunch rush. There were 5 people in line. Not super busy. We ordered food at 1:16. TWO sandwiches - a turkey and a roast beef. Once the 5 customers ordered, hardly anyone came in to order - maybe 3-5 people. We got our food at 2:13 (see photo receipt). (Maybe wouldn't have been as irritated if they gave us a heads up when we ordered that they were backed up/behind) Sandwich was a large portion but for 30 bucks and an hour wait, not worth it. Turkey was thin and slimy. Roast beef came with onions - which wasn't listen on the menu, and totally soggy. We had an hour drive home and decided to stop here because the reviews were good and thought we would get a quick bite. Would have been better off driving all the way home and making our own sandwiches. It's not like they're baking the bread fresh and slaughtering the turkey in the back. We watched them make the sandwhiches on sliced bread out of a bag. If you have nothing to do all day - take a chance. We were looking for a place to stop by along the way and wanted to try this out. We went ahead to order in advance by placing our order through the phone, which is pretty convenient tbh. When we got there, we found it's located in a medical plaza, so it's not at an obvious place to find! Street parking would be your best bet. The joint itself was very spacious, ample of tables, but also many others waiting for their order. We saw that even though we placed our phone order ahead, it seemed like the employees were working pretty slowly... which makes sense for the hold up of people waiting for their sandwiches. Getting our sandwiches, we got the Hip Bird and the Hey Joe sandwich. Honestly the Hip Bird is a very classic sandwich, although I wish there was more avocado on it. Everything tasted fresh but the more I ate, the more I thought about how I could've just made this sandwich at home lol. Nothing too impressive, but it's not really worth the price you're paying for it unless you're lazy. Also the mustard sauce in it didn't seem like it enhanced it that much. Wish there was something more special about it. As for the Hey Joe, it's definitely all the meats in one sandwich that my bf enjoys, but that destroyed him LOL it was so heavy, very greasy, just heart clogging. Perry is often present at the restaurant and stops by to say hello to customers. You just don't see that kind of personal attention much. He runs a great shop. I tried the veggie dog Detroit style. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and they had no problem with my dog sitting on the patio with me. I loved the art they had on display, just a place with great vibes and great sandwiches. My only complaint was that the to go bag was a paper bag and the sauces dripped through. Packed with fresh ingredients and very affordable. I opted for a couple of sandwiches to go and had the New York dog in the restaurant. The dog was excellent and what made it better than most was the sesame seed bun, soft and a perfect compliment for the beef dog topped with sauerkraut. Nowhere near where we happen to live, but if ever you're looking for a place to eat a bit removed from the traffic and craziness of Pasadena proper, try Perry's Joint. Parking here can be a bit of a challenge, but it's still doable. My husband ordered (and then devoured) a Pastrami, No Chaser, which had Pastrami, yellow mustard, lettuce, tomato & pickles. He said it was excellent, which was evident by how quickly he ate it. As you can see from the photos, these sandwiches are not small, either. I ordered a Tuna by Starlight, which has tuna salad, mustard, mayo, lettuce & tomato. Bear in mind, the tuna has a slightly sweet aftertaste, which I would normally object to, but I don't know... when mixed with mayo and mustard, it just worked. I gobbled mine up, too, and I rarely eat 2 sandwich halves anymore. Yet, I ate both halves here. I wouldn't say they have an extensive menu, but I will say there's enough to choose from. i stopped by to perry's joint during my lunch break and that was probably a mistake. i don't think i will ever come here for lunch. it's best to visit this sandwich joint during your free time where you have the time to wait 35-45 mins for your sandwich to be made and ready. Unfortunately, they don't answer their phones so you can't order ahead and not waste my entire lunch waiting for my food. this place needs better training and they also need to train someone to take phone orders. i was there and they would just ignore their phones. while i was there waiting for my food, i noticed how unorganized and slow the employees are. my number was #47 and there was people who's numbers were #34 & #39 that was still waiting for their food. if i didn't make a complaint about the wait, i would've left the place around 1ish when i started my lunch around 12 ish. now let's talk about the sandwich. this is my first time trying one of perrys sandwiches. my coworkers hyped this place up and here is my opinion. i ordered myself the hip max sandwich and it was a pretty good average sandwich. their sandwiches reminds me of the ones from sprouts sandwich deli. i like how the sandwich was fat & stuffed with lots of meat. the lemonade was good. will i come back here again? probably not. read more

Tasty neighborhood institution but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I got the Tuna Simone on the dark sweet wheat bread which is similar to your classic tuna melt. Not terrible and there was some love and care but the flavors/ingredients didn't stand out. The dark sweet wheat bread was cut relatively thin so I wasn't able to discern a unique flavor or texture. It will fill you up and you won't be upset with the flavor. Prices ~$15. Folks are friendly. Also be prepared to wait a 15+ min for your order. Lots of seating indoors.
